In Oblivion one voice actor would do two races. Objectively it's awful to hear the same lines over and over, but it became part of Oblivion's awkward charm.
Hoonter of hoonters, not even. There was 1 guy and 1 woman for all 3 elf races. 1 guy did nords, orcs, khajiits and argonians. Human races had 1 guy per race, so they had it best.
Nords are resistant to frost because Skyrim is cold. Dunmer are resistant to fire because Morrowind is volcanic. Bretons are resistant to magic because there’s a ton of natural mages flinging spells around willy-nilly.
Argonians are resistant to disease because Black Marsh is a hostile environment with many viruses and carriers. Bosmer are resistant to poison because there are toxic plants, insects, and animals in Valenwood. Redguards are resistant to poison because... I don't know, maybe there are a lot of assassination attempts that go on in Hammerfell or something? Orcs are resistant to damage because being pissed off enough can distract your senses enough from pain to a certain extent. High Elves are resistant to self-esteem problems because they're pretentious jackasses. Imperials are resistant to persecution and poverty because they're white. And Kajit are resistant to concepts like laws because they're goddamn cats and cats don't give a shit about rules, personal space, the concept of empathy, etc.
The Bretons are a mixture of Nedes, Aldmer, and Nords. The reachmen are similar, but they also have some Orsimer blood in them. The biggest difference between the Bretons and the people of the Reach is that the Bretons have French names and the Reachmen have Celtic names. There is a real life group of people called Bretons. They are descendants of Brittish Celts who fled southern England when the Anglo-Saxons invaded back in 5th and 6th centuries. You want to know why the Altmer are weak to magic but the Bretons aren't? Game balance. In all honesty, it's likely that your hypothesis of interbreeding with Nords was correct. That, and, being the lowest class of society, they were likely tortured by the Altmer. After enduring enough of a specific form of strife, one becomes more resistant to it. There would have had to have been an uprising at some point. The Bretons were just a lower class, and took over when the Direnni Hegemony fell. Now, the mix of Nede, Altmeri and Nordstrom blood could indeed justify the high resistance to magic. But if it was caused by the torture of the Altmer, then it would be the Imperials who'd get that bonus, rather than the Bretons.
Klose klöm Dwemer were just a kind of elf who asceneded out of out realm through enlightenment (Most think they did so using C.H.I.M). The falmer are just Dwemer who couldn't ascend and turned feral as well as blind when the Dwemer subterranean sun died.after generations these feral elves changed more and more until finally turning in the grotesque and pitiful creatures that we know.
casey chapman You are so wrong. The Dwemer were extremely intelligent and didn't believe in God's or at least thought of them as lesser compared to there own intellect. Eventually they developed the tools of kagranac which the when activated caused most Dwemer to dissapear except for one Dwemer who you meet in Elder Scrolls Three : Morrowind unfortunately he knows nothing ( If this is wrong please correct me )
casey chapman The Falmer are Snow Elves that sold themselves into slavery for protection from Nords who they were losing a war too The Dwemer experimented on the Snow Elves by making them eat a mysterious fungus that caused them to go blind and years after the Dwemer dissapeared the Snow Elves began to mutate as a combination of the fungus and life underground changed them and fueled by the betrayal of the Dwemer fueled the increased agresstion against outsides and as they became more feral they became openly violent toward all outsiders even taking slaves and sacrificing them to there own gods

Yeah, they have a religious rule basically, the "greenheart" pact or something like that where they HAVE to eat and use whatever they kill, so if they kill humans or other elves, they have to eat them and use their body parts for stuff. That's why a lot of their armor and weapons are made from bone.
So I've been kicking a theory for a while now. What if argonians aren't really a race at all? Hear me out. Argonians take lots of forms. Lizards, snakes, toads, birds, even some mammalian forms. What if they aren't any uniform species that diversified. What if "argonians" are just the hosts of the Hist trees' parasitic pollen/sap? The Hist are a race of sentient, magical, psijic-esque trees. What if they crafted the argonian races to be emissaries to the races of men and mer. The Hist get some devine foresight or whatever. They see all these races conquering the continent. And how they would march into black marsh, burning everything in sight. So the trees jump the gun and start infecting the local fauna. Snakes, toads, birds, and of course, the lizards that live in Hist branches and eat harmful insects. Fast forward more than a few generations, Aldmer explorers start crashing black marsh's gates. Only they get sent packing by toxic swamps, killer bugs, and "savage lizard-men". All orchestrated by the Hist as a self-preservation tactic.
I agree with you, I am sure if some of us were a divine spirit and we were betrayed by the people that we helped and taught new ways, we would probably do the same thing. At least we can say this about Azura, she didn't kill the disobedient Chimer she just said, "Okay, you betrayed my trust so I'm going to make you and all your descendants, henceforth, shall bear my mark." Through this we can see that Azura isn't like a lot of the other Deadric Spirits, I prefer to call them spirits since they can appear as either men or women, she actually has love and mercy to her.
I’m constantly between Imperials and Nords. On one hand, the Nordic lore and warrior beliefs seems super cool. On the other, the imperial armor and government and military systems are also neat.
so, are the redguard actually from a different rebirth cycle or not? anytime anyone ever talks about them, they always start their story at the beginning of the current cycle, but i saw in some lore videos (especially camelworks video about the left handed elves) that they are actually from the previous rebirth cycle and somehow managed to slip past its destruction through alduin, by passing into the current one. if that was true and the redguard actually are from a previous cycle, that would add a ton to their story and would make them that much more interesting as a culture.
thechatteringclown I literally watched this to hear some more details on that particular subject and they didn't mention it ._. Still good vid tho 10/10
The answer is a hard "probably." Redguards are from Yokuda, and Yokuda is known to still exist in some form and is still accessible. However, there is also evidence that the Redgards are from a previous cycle due to how different their gods and how their magic works. Essentially, it is entirely possible that the ocean may act as a method of travel between different kalpa cycles, with places like Yokuda, Atmora, and Akavir being entire different timelines of Nirn.
What if the Aldmer were rather resistant to magic and thats why the Bretons share that trait? It is accepted that the Altmer have changed from the Aldmer so perhaps they lost their resistances?
Makes sense. All the other Aldmeri descendents changed. Perhaps in the following centuries the Altmer's constant exposure to magic and connection with Aedra lended weakness and that is how they changed. Breton practiced magic, yes, but their human blood and shorter life may have prevented magic sensitivity.
Bethesda writers: So Bretons are a mix of Nedes and Aldmer - the two tallest ancestor races. Designers: Ah, so they should be super tall! Bethesda: No.
You got that backwards. The writers make the lore, and it's the Game Devs who do a bad job of putting it in the game. It's the Developers who would be saying "No" in this scenario.
@@Alizudo you got that wrong, the devs aren't making character models, that would be the 3d artists. The problem is primarily that the lore is deep, and the staff is large, and not everyone is on the same page.
@@pretzul6022 also it could be a mutation kinda like a less obvious version of what happens to some people in the witcher universe if they have elven and mortal blood (Yennefer in the series). It could also be that this mutation came with members of the race that had more magical prowess therefore more ability to survive and procreate -basically evolution- Not saying that's how it is just providing an explanation that some people might like.
Is it a cat? Might be a Khajiit. Is it not a cat? Also might be a Khajiit. Is it a Nord? Fuck it, maybe they've evolved; just to be on the safe side, assume it's a Khajiit.
Playing as khajiit and i was doing some brawls for thief guild quest.wow the fists are really good (claws) ditch my sword and flames spell and use fists for the whole game. I find it easier and i can deal more damage
Sooooo dark elves live long lives, are generally good at magic, a whole faction lives in mushrooms and three of them became literal gods. They also created the beautiful words n’wah and s’wit. Do I have to say anything else..... N’wah?
@@zekezzekekan2144 it's ugly depending on who you ask, I think it looks cool, i like the color. It fits them i think, not a fan of bright colors so I prefer dark elves to other elves.
Falmer actually makes sense to play since gelebor zaid that there are potentially some surviving falmer outside of him and vyrthur that didn't degenerate. Dwemer though, not so much.
I have always used Breton when I play. I like that they seem more adaptable overall in the game and like the characters I can make with then. There lore is good too.
The Khajiit being made by Azura makes sense considering just how important Masser and Secunda are in the birth of Khajiit. Senche, Ohmes, Cathay, &c. all are born that way depending on the positions of the moons at the time of their birth.
My favourite is Argonian, because of the absolute massive colouring potential in the creation menu. Besides, I've always been an outsider. Seeing them standing out like that with their reptilian looks and scaled got me onto them instantly. Also, it was the first race I ever played, seeing them not get any attention in a let's play I saw years ago made them my first choice when I got Skyrim a few years later. They were the first race I played as, I can't express how cool I think waterbreathing is how I exploded when I realised I could at any moment escape into water tøwith them having no choice but to either leave or drown. I explored the north artic for AGES! I love the histskin, and being an outsider it felt so good finally seeing other Argonians when I did, especially derkeethus who can be a follower! God I love Argonians. They are without a shadow of a doubt my favourite Skyrim race.
As for the Bretons. The inherent resistance to magic may have been an inversion of the Atlmer weakness to magic that occurred through inter-breeding. Just a thought!
I would have never known most of this information had I not watched this video. It gives the games so much more impact when you know all that went on before the games take place. The Elder Scrolls has so much depth and originality.
As for how the Bretons could have acquired magic resistance, perhaps it could result from Nordic magic resistance amped up by the strong magical affinity of the Altmer. If I recall, Nords in Morrowind were resistant not only to frost (to which they are immune) but also to shock (which they resist at 50%). So maybe the ancient Atmorans were very magic resistant and this combined with the Altmeri magic affinity resulted in the Breton magic resistance.
I dont think the Khajit are descended from the outmer. In the quest where you harvest elven blood for septimus, it requires falmer, wood elf, dark elf, high elf, and orc blood, but not khajit blood.
That theory at 16:15 kind of makes sense, but enviromental changes should not be disregarded since the mutations that occurred with the two groups of atmorans varied during the geographic isolation of both. They may descend from the same human group, but just as the Amerindians are different from their Siberian ancestors, they no longer have the same genetic makeup, because of the different genetic mutations in geographically isolated Siberians in Asia and geographically isolated Amerindian in America. The same can be said of needs and atmorans. Just as the genetic mutations of the ancient atmoras gave birth to the pure blood atmorans, the genetic mutations of the atmorans who came to Tamriel earlier gave rise to the needs, so technically the nords would be 75% atmorans and 25% needs, but as the needs are a race emerged from the ancient atmorans so that would make it part atmoran and part tamrielic, which would eventually result in the nords being 87.5% atmorans and 12.5% Tamrielic-Atmorans (Have to think in a better name for these tamriel adapted atmorans). Maybe i'm just talking shit but that's what I think of this.
Toby Sweetman Yeah pretty much. Masser and Secunda are just the floating corpse of a Dead God. They do also have a connection with Lorkhan(Or Lorkhaj). Remember how the Khajit creation myth mentioned that Lorkhaj was given birth to in the Void? Well, that's a bad thing. The Khajit view Lorkhaj as sort of Evil. You see, the Khajit believe in these "Evil ancestor spirits" known as the Dro-M'athra. They are said to be connected to Lorkhaj, and that if a Khajit hears the beat of Lorkhaj's drum (Note that a heartbeat sounds like a Drum, which fits the story of the Aedra ripping Lorkhan's heart out) becomes a Bent Cat, eventually succumbing to Lorkhaj's will and joining the Dro-M'athra. There's a lot of stories about them in ESO, where one of the end-game Trials is called the Maw of Lorkhaj. In it, you have to cleanse a holy Khajiti Shrine from Lorkhaj's influence and destroy the Dro-M'athra invaders. As Mentioned in the video, many people don't see ESO as canon, but personally I find the Story of about Lorkhaj and the Dro-M'athra canon. I'm not sure if they are mentioned in other games or out of game canon sources though.
Toby Sweetman, I know this is old, but I'm pretty sure Lorkhaj's body was the third moon that was often hidden from sight, it is said that it controls Massur and Secunda
You're right, with the moons of the Elder Scrolls, both facts appear to be true. It could be explained like this, since Lorkhan was literally a god it could be argued that even his dead body still contains some of his god powers. It just happened that the Khajiit were, at the time, nothing more than desert panthers, and for some reason the magic locked on to them and the next generation born changed due to the moon's positions.
I’ve watched this video many time because I love the elder scrolls and the lore, I have had a thought about the origins of the Orcs and Chimer, I would say that when Boethiah “ate” Trinimac she may have just trapped him in her realm for so long that he became corrupted by it, a Daedric princes realm is an extension of themselves, and time only flows if they want it to, so Boethiah “eating” Trinimac doesn’t have to be so literal, and the event itself could have been what changed the Aldmer followers to the Orcs and Chimer. Just had to comment that, love the videos. Are we getting another 5 things we want from elder scrolls 6 or could you be going into more details on what you’ve already done?
Ancient Aldmeri argument over the future of their race: Altmer: "The shoe is the sign!" Chimer: "It is a SANDAL!" Bosmer: "No! No! It is a sign that, like him...we must think not of the things of the body, but of the face and head!" Altmer: "Give me your shoe!" Bosmer: "Oh, GET OFF!" Orsimer: "Follow the gourd! The Holy Gourd of Orsinium!" Snow Elves: "Hold up the sandal!" Altmer: "It is a SHOE! It is a shoe!" Ayleids: "Stop! Stop, I say! STOP! Let us...let us pray. Yea, he cometh to us, like the seed of the grain........." (Meanwhile, the Dwemer were already away somewhere below, designing better footwear)
The first Elder Scrolls game I played was Morrowind and I just fell in love with the alien land and the culture and history of the dunmer that's why I play as a dark elf besides they are as adaptive to harsh conditions like the argonians you can get a small taste of the challenging landscape that Morrowind would be like in the dragonborn dlc in Skyrim
Thats when Imperials became playable I started at Morrowind to and saw a new race unseen in the others so I tried them and I play as an Imperial in Oblivion and Skyrim.
supernova582 I play dunmer in es 1, 2, and 3 then imperial in 4 and 5. I play an rp playthrough where they're all part of the same family. the Dawn family and through cross breeding the dunmer eventually became imperials. I also use color names for each character. Auralia Dawn (female), Viridian Dawn (Male), Azure Dawn (Male), Mazarin Dawn (Male), and finally Violet Dawn (Female)
I’m one of those guys who play a race depending on the game and what the story is. I always play a Nord I’m skyrim because it doesn’t feel right if the Dragonborn is another race, I play imperial in oblivion, dark elf in morrowind and in ESO I just play as an orc for no real reason
16:53 Man, I'm brazilian and I couldn't help but notice that one of the cities or islands in Yokuda is called "Bahia". For anyone who doesn't know "Bahia" is one of Brazil's states. I don't know who made this Yokuda map, but I think he knows Brazil.
João Pedro Gonçalves Guimarães That would make sense as Yokuda is west of Tamriel. A continent which is loosely based on Europe. People also theorize that Akavir, (a continent east of Tamriel) is loosely based on Asia.
Now that you have mentioned, i've noticed that the coolest surnames in the western hemisphere are generally French, Italians and Portuguese surnames. I have a grandfather called Ivaldo Carneiro Fontenele Portela Magalhães, a pity that my parents did not register me with these last names. At least I got the french one, Fontenele. xD
It seems not a lot of people like to play as a wood elf, I find them the most interesting honestly and I guess I’m just a sucker for a bow. But their lore is just so mysterious and intriguing, not to mention they seem to be their own solitary race that are very strict in their beliefs.
Bro so awesome thank you for your story telling. And your history on Skyrim I appreciate you learning the history accurately can you make multiple videos on each race and their full background history?
I came up with a theory for how the khajiit were made: just before lorkan I believe he foresaw the fall of man so he created the khajiit to gain the elves trust so when the time was right the khajiit gods would give one of them a vision or dream like in tes 3 Morrowind to tell him/her to rally the khajiit up to assist man this would explain why they worship the moons which is lorkans corpse. That would also make a good game I think
I think that Bretons are resistant to magic because they can use it effectively because of their elf blood but due to the over tipping of the balance of nord blood than elf blood the Bretons are not flooding with magic like high elves and so are not effected by it
So... i just remember playing this game that was suspicious like the original elder scrolls like.... 20 years ago. A major plot point was that elves lacked a sliver of divinity, whereas humans retained their fragment, and it was a major driving factor in their battles. Elves were jealous of the divinity humans had obtained; humans liked the advanced cultural, magical, and technical insight held by the elves. With that said, the Deep Ones, Hermaeus Mora, and the sload are kind of the wild card in all this. The Sload aren't technically in Elder Scrolls 5, but the Seekers and the tentacles in Hermaeus Mora's realm might be a thing. The Argonians, with the ability to breath underwater, seem like they would be heavily influenced by the Sload.
OK, here’s my speculation. Given the pariah abbey, and thus High Rock’s strong association with Azura - the prince of magic, perhaps their magical resistance was a blessing from the chillest of the Daedra princes. We Bretons can’t go to Sovngarde, the Nords don’t consider us one of their own (despite some sources claiming Atmoran ancestry), the Aldmeri of course look down on us as mongrels; likewise so do the Imperials, who are Nedic/Atmoran. We are the left out in the race of men. Taking pity on us, Azura bestowed the gift on Bretons, leading to our potent magical abilities and resistance.
@@moistmeathateroffurries8621 racist country hicks. Empire for life. Your leader used you all as pawns in his game to become high king. I remember hearing somewhere that the ayleids were just what the imperials called them and to everyone else they were just aldmer. Could be misremembering though.
I'm probably the only person ever who plays 90% of his builds as argonians (unless their a professional build) because their lore is just so damn good.
me: completely new to Skyrim FudgeMuppet: Let's start with one of the funny ones. *completely drowns me in proper nouns, no small number of which are nearly identical*
I always play as Breton, mostly because they're just magic humans. Knowing there lore now has only mad me think they're cooler. Like, they're the bridge between man an mer, that's pretty neat. And honestly, their magic res makes them one of the easier to turn into a God within ganeplay mechanics. So many magic eaters made (100% res + 100 magic absorb) making them immune to and powered by spells cast at them.
Ulfric Stormcloak, all the Jarls, the Thalmor, and General Tullius are all shape shifting Argonians that control all of Skyrim together and set a Civil War as a ploy to grow their businesses which is weapons, armor, and food. Both are extremely profitable during a war, making all of them millionaires while the ordinary citizen of Skyrim kills their neighbors.
Were the Dov (dragons) in Skyrim before the Falmer? I've never heard of any interactions between the two before humans came into the picture. Only that the Atmorans drove out the elves, worshipped the dragons, but then eventually drove them out as well.
The Dovah came to Skyrim from Akavir and basically enslaved the nordic race there. The snow elves had enslaved the nords but since the Dovah worshiping priests learned the thuum they over threw the snow elves and basically history went it's course where the nords became basically Nazis and took over all of the surrounding countries and all the other races hated them and joined together to beat them up till Skyrim became just the small hold it is now. The nords also taught the thuum to each other so more than just he priests could use it and over threw the Dovah.
I always play a male Breton with black eye warpaint, Mohawk, goatee. I love conjuration and the fact that he is part elf but has human appearance. Bretons also have a 25% magic resistance to all magic in the game, they make insane late game conjuration and destruction battle mages. Dragonskin is a great ability and it helps fight vampires, mages, dragons, anything casting a spell at you.
I always use nords, I love their lore, theyr strong voices, the panteon, costumes, values and the 500 companions story. And of course Skyrim belong to the nords!!
awesome could you do the other races that you dont play but are in the lore like snow elves, dwemer, sea elves, left hand elves, fox people and ayleids cant remember if there was anymore
Man I started playing TES back in Oblivion days, and even though that does not seem long ago in term of TES games, it must have been 15ish years ago. And I still remember most of the phases of favorite characters I went through. Not knowing anything about the lore at first, I just picked the default Imperial, never even customized them. The more I learned about the lore, the more I started switching them around, usually going for wood elf, dark elf or high elf characters. When Skyrim eventually came around I actually started going more into the lore rather then just what I saw in game (and eventually started reading the ingame books too) Before TESO came out there was still a lot of unknowns about the Argonians, and I had a phase where I exclusively played them for a while. Ultimately after many periods of playing and learning about most of the races, I usually end up with a Breton though. Mixed blood of man and mer, who have a society with knightly orders. And due to the mixed blood with elves, magic is something common sight too. So they are actually the posterchild for spell knights.
Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Breton, Imperial. I have only ever played these guys, so far my favorite is a close tie between Breton and Bosmer. I love them both.
My favorite characters that I like to play between all three games is, a character named Xia Tz (Sha Tss) who is a Wood Elf that was born and raised in Akavir, as a slave of the Tsaesci being rescued by one of the Monkey people and brought to safety, spending his first 30 or so years growing up in this environment eventually he approached and pledged his allegiance to the great tiger dragon. Becoming his champion trained in the ways of heavy armor, two handed swords, restoration and alteration magic, and enchanting he was sent on a journey to tamriel not as a userper but as a seeker of knowledge something that could be brought back to give Akavir the edge in the future invasions. On this journey Xia Tz found the Aedric faith and betrayed his bonds of his homeland, becoming a paladin of Akatosh, he journeyed all over walking as the companion even to the great nereverine, standing with him against the ash vampires, the werewolf threats and the treachery of the Tribunal, after many centuries of heroism and travel and mastery of the skills restoration and long blades. He decided to have a family. This man who had many things at his disposal and many friends. Named his son Elias, and sent him to live on the isle of the great psijic monks. This wood elven boy always had troubles with his mischevious nature and natural lack of magical talent compared to his Dunmeri and altmer brethren. Although with time studied with many great masters. Over long periods of time he reconnected with the spirit of his dead father. Gaining much power and knowledge, through training he eventually became a man of infinite patience and benevolence, yet a terror to those who would seek to disrupt the balance. As a master of Mysticism, hand to hand martial combat, and Alteration magic, he could shield reflect and empower himself to the point that many random travelers that would witness his feats in true need would never forget him. Eventually reaching Sainthood after closing over 50 oblivion gates during the great oblivion crisis.. The legacy of Xia Tz the paladin wood elf ends with Elias as he is Abstinent. Elias dies in the 3E being slain by Mehrunes Dagon himself during the Sacking of the Imperial City, where Martin Septim sacrificed himself to save the empire.
clearly Orcs are Bethesda's favorite race...because they only had to hire two voice actors for the entire species

In all honesty, it's likely that your hypothesis of interbreeding with Nords was correct. That, and, being the lowest class of society, they were likely tortured by the Altmer. After enduring enough of a specific form of strife, one becomes more resistant to it. Like the Nordic frost resist.

Will you, by any chance, make a lore video about the creation of the non-playable races too?
the races from the continent of Akavir for example or the falmer and dwemer.
Eventually they developed the tools of kagranac which the when activated caused most Dwemer to dissapear except for one Dwemer who you meet in Elder Scrolls Three : Morrowind unfortunately he knows nothing
( If this is wrong please correct me )
casey chapman The Falmer are Snow Elves that sold themselves into slavery for protection from Nords who they were losing a war too The Dwemer experimented on the Snow Elves by making them eat a mysterious fungus that caused them to go blind and years after the Dwemer dissapeared the Snow Elves began to mutate as a combination of the fungus and life underground changed them and fueled by the betrayal of the Dwemer fueled the increased agresstion against outsides and as they became more feral they became openly violent toward all outsiders even taking slaves and sacrificing them to there own gods
What about the sloads etc there’s plenty of other races too

Yeah, they have a religious rule basically, the "greenheart" pact or something like that where they HAVE to eat and use whatever they kill, so if they kill humans or other elves, they have to eat them and use their body parts for stuff.

All orchestrated by the Hist as a self-preservation tactic.
i luv it.
i don't think you are the first to point this out either, it seems very sensible when i think about it, at least from a lore perspective

The Khajiit are many races of cat-beings, many of which are not humanoid
Wouldn't that still make them a race? Just made by the Hist instead of the Aedra

I tend to pick my race based on the location of the game. I play a dunmer in morrowind, imperial in oblivion, and a nord in skyrim
so, are the redguard actually from a different rebirth cycle or not? anytime anyone ever talks about them, they always start their story at the beginning of the current cycle, but i saw in some lore videos (especially camelworks video about the left handed elves) that they are actually from the previous rebirth cycle and somehow managed to slip past its destruction through alduin, by passing into the current one.
if that was true and the redguard actually are from a previous cycle, that would add a ton to their story and would make them that much more interesting as a culture.
thechatteringclown I literally watched this to hear some more details on that particular subject and they didn't mention it ._. Still good vid tho 10/10
yes it is canon
if you want more on this, watch Zaric Zhakaron's lore series

@@Alizudo you got that wrong, the devs aren't making character models, that would be the 3d artists. The problem is primarily that the lore is deep, and the staff is large, and not everyone is on the same page.

As for the Bretons. The inherent resistance to magic may have been an inversion of the Atlmer weakness to magic that occurred through inter-breeding. Just a thought!
In my first play through, I usually choose my character based on how cool they look
same, I chose Dark Elves because I thought they looked badass lol

@@AmateurContendr first time i played i had to check who voiced barbas cus he really does sound like him
As for how the Bretons could have acquired magic resistance, perhaps it could result from Nordic magic resistance amped up by the strong magical affinity of the Altmer.
In the quest where you harvest elven blood for septimus, it requires falmer, wood elf, dark elf, high elf, and orc blood, but not khajit blood.
also doesnt require breton blood despite them being at least half elf by descent too
That theory at 16:15 kind of makes sense, but enviromental changes should not be disregarded since the mutations that occurred with the two groups of atmorans varied during the geographic isolation of both.
I'd use the term 'proto-Nordic' for describing them.
Isn't one of the moons like half of Lorkhan's body when he was killed? I swear that was a thing and it had to do with Khajiit forms.

Massur and Secunda

Bosmer: "No! No! It is a sign that, like him...we must think not of the things of the body, but of the face and head!"
Altmer: "Give me your shoe!"
Bosmer: "Oh, GET OFF!"
Orsimer: "Follow the gourd! The Holy Gourd of Orsinium!"
Snow Elves: "Hold up the sandal!"
Altmer: "It is a SHOE! It is a shoe!"
Ayleids: "Stop! Stop, I say! STOP! Let us...let us pray. Yea, he cometh to us, like the seed of the grain........."

Breton's had the ability to absorb magic in a couple games as well
I think that Bretons are resistant to magic because they can use it effectively because of their elf blood but due to the over tipping of the balance of nord blood than elf blood the Bretons are not flooding with magic like high elves and so are not effected by it
The two races I almost always play is probably Khajiit and Nords
So... i just remember playing this game that was suspicious like the original elder scrolls like....
I'm a big lore buff with The Elder Scrolls, and I absolutely loved this video. Thanks so much.
i like how you have ancient stones on loop for the whole video. that's one of my favorites from the soundtrack.

Dragonskin is a great ability and it helps fight vampires, mages, dragons, anything casting a spell at you.
It must take ages to find all of this info, thank you!
Another theory to as to how the Khajiit were created is that they descended from the Ka Po' Tun tiger-folk from the continent of Akavir.
1:25 orcs
4:50 dark elves
9:44 high elves
11:16 bretons
no redguards racist
My 2 favorite races are the Altmer & the Nords but I mostly play as the Nords.
BOS Sentinel nice to see a fellow synth hater around here
Pity.
BOS Sentinel same along with the bretons and wood elves
I liked the Nords even back in Oblivion

Man I started playing TES back in Oblivion days, and even though that does not seem long ago in term of TES games, it must have been 15ish years ago.
And I still remember most of the phases of favorite characters I went through.
Not knowing anything about the lore at first, I just picked the default Imperial, never even customized them.
The more I learned about the lore, the more I started switching them around, usually going for wood elf, dark elf or high elf characters.
When Skyrim eventually came around I actually started going more into the lore rather then just what I saw in game (and eventually started reading the ingame books too)
Before TESO came out there was still a lot of unknowns about the Argonians, and I had a phase where I exclusively played them for a while.
Ultimately after many periods of playing and learning about most of the races, I usually end up with a Breton though.
Mixed blood of man and mer, who have a society with knightly orders.
And due to the mixed blood with elves, magic is something common sight too.
So they are actually the posterchild for spell knights.
I feel like the atmoraians also interbred with the snow elves and that’s why some nords (such as the grey-manes) have white hair
Unlikely. Total extermination was the goal and it was executed exactly. Very pale hair occurs naturally in real Nords in Scandinavia, too.
One minute in: lore contradictions
Me: Lorkhan-tradictions??
Lorkhan't
Thanks for this hiss-tree lesson
What about snow elves? They look the coolest.
Theres only 2 of them left
Music影い well one left
Chris MiAss they'll go extinct anyway
Well done on managing to squeeze all of that into a (relatively) short video. :D
Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Breton, Imperial. I have only ever played these guys, so far my favorite is a close tie between Breton and Bosmer. I love them both.
ARGONIONS *YEAH 😤💪🏻*
What about falmer(snow elves) and dwemer? :(
They not playable in any ES game
My favorite race in skyrim is khajiit and argonian
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND WORK, GREAT VIDEO!
