Health note as a guy who had a heart attack last year: if you have problems being out of breath, don't automatically assume it's weight or being out of shape. You could be normal weight and have coronary artery disease like I did. I'm 50, 5' 11" 195#. Stented, on lots of meds for now, and using a CPAP to sleep. That last one was also a major health improvement.
Awesome project. Cool to see you got the DIP aluminum magwell. I installed one on my 457. The ears on my original plastic one wouldn't allow me really tighten the magwell screws. The ears spread and the rear screw would run right into the bottom of the bolt. DIP aluminum magwell fixed all that. Have fun lot testing!
Hi Chris. Really enjoy your content. I have the Element Titan 3-18x50 on my vudoo V22. I have it set up so I can dial it from 25y out to 625y at our ELR competition here in ireland 🇮🇪 Best of luck with this new build
I have a CZ in a similar configuration. It started as a CZ Varmint Precision Trainer then I added a Lilja Barrel, Timeny Trigger, Area 419 30 MOA Scope Rail and weighed Arca rail. I debated on getting a PDC Customs G5C for it instead of the Manners oem stock but the stock just feels rock solid the only downside is that I couldn’t get a good cheek weld so I added a Victor Company Cheek Riser and now it’s perfect. I have a few DIP Products on the way to rap up the project: the aluminum mag well and spacer, upgraded action screws since the factory ones are a little cheap and starting to strip, and a extended mag release. Mine is very accurate I can easily put 15 rounds into a 1/2 to 3/8 inch group at 50 yards with SK Pistol Match Special.
What about the stock barrel? You didn't even try it, I just built 22 with a varmint Barrel. I can't wait to see what it's like out on the Range. I wish you had done a video on that barrel prior to the build
Dude that is really nice. I have really enjoyed your videos. They have been truly insightful. I started participating in NRL22 as a rookie at best. Keep bringing out great content.
You know I have seen a lot of utube shooter's use these after market barrels and I have never seen one that will outshoot my regular match barrel and chamber barrels from cz and I think that anyone of my 3 457s will outshoot any them. By the way good shooting bro. Beagleman
Hi Chris! Great stuff (as always). Nice that you like the Titan 3-18x50, Im thinking about getting one....but would prefere a clean reticle instead of the current one.... 🤔 Looking forward to more content on the scope!👍
I’m guessing you looked at headspace, barrel screw torque, action screw torque, scope base screw torque, scope ring screw torque, inspected a round after chambering it, inspected the top round in the magazine after a round had been fed/the bolt had been run over it, etc.? That seems like way too good of a setup to be THAT ammo-fussy without something else going on.
Man that scope has some serious adjustment. I will struggle a bit to see with the x18 zoom to see if my gun is zeroed at 50m before a match (where we are not allowed to go forward and see)
Hey Chris, are we gonna see more of this rifle? I hope so, I'm very interested in the outcome. Also, I have a 6x18 Leupold on one of my Sporter rifles. It's a great scope at 50 where 18x wworks as well as 30 x for me. But at 100, I feel like I'm on the edge of what it does well. Do you think a little more magnification would help at 100? I know a lot of guys like to shoot around 15 x to avoid mirage issues. . Do you find higher magnifications give you benefit at longer distances . Thank you in advance for answering my questions . It's great that you, Josh, Eli, Joe and Kenny, and Matt in Canada will take the time to do that. I really appreaciate the learning with y'all.
This rifle will be one of my main channel rifles going forward. Next week i have a lot testing video coming where we go out to 325 yards while lot testing. as far as magnification goes, if i'm group shooting at distance i do like extra magnification so I can take a fine point of aim. But in a positional match setting in both centerfire and rimfire i rarely use more than 18x on steel targets positional. if i turn my mag up to high i have a harder time spotting trace or splash from my misses when i'm shooting in wind or in situations where i have doubt with the dope. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.
I appreciate the videos you put together. I have a tikka t1x with a kbr bravo chassis. I want to be able to shoot beyond 300 yards. Do I get a custom barrel or get a controlled feed action and build off of it to be able to shoot consistently beyond 300 yards?
Your tikka should be able to handle 300 yards decent if you have properly lot tested the rifle for best ammo choice. what are your expectations of accuracy past 300?
How does that balance with the 419 weighted arca rail? I have the same setup but with the 16.5 lilja barrel. Can't decide between the mdt enclosed forend and adding weights or the 419
What experience do you have shooting the 22lr at 500 to 600 yards and farther? Have you found a longer barrel that 16.5 in. is better? what about a faster twist than 1-16 ? Thank you.. Great videos.
We have shot consistently out to 300-400 yards while pushing to the 500+ on occasion. What we have found is the the longer barrel 22”-24” has provided us with more stable SD’s and ES. We also suspect a more stable bullet flight resulting in better long range accuracy and consistency
Hey man probably stupid question but I’m building a cz and I was wondering where does the shims go? On the bolt or barrel I can’t find a answer anywhere and which one you use for s&k
Lilja has a set of instructions for their barrels where the shims go on the barrel tennon and end up sandwiched between the shoulder of the barrel and the action like a washer. Each action has to be measured due to tolerance of manufacturing so amount of shims will vary.
@@midwest_long_rangethank you so much. I bought barrel and a shims off a guy and didn’t get the instructions. I seem someone putting some kind of shims in the bolt. That’s what was getting me confused. Thank you for reaching out to me
Chris, great video. You essentially built the rifle I'm in the process of building! I love that XRS Chassis too. I'm looking forward to see how yours shakes out with the Lilja before I drop the coin on that. I believe Lilja chambers them for Eley. I'm an SK guy and that is my only hesitation right now. Chris, I see you got the flat Timney.Do you like it better than the curved Timney? How low did you get the trigger pull? Thank you, Jeff
What is your thoughts on the Savage 22 Precision? I can purchase the gun at a great deal. However, what gun would you suggest as my first target Rimfire rifle? I'm not looking for an entry level if possible
Hello Chris enjoy the videos..... I also have started shooting SK Ammo in ARA competition and have had beltter success than others..... Who is your supplier for S K where you can find different lots?????
Why buy a full gun and then replace everything on it? What is left of the original gun, chamber, bolt? Just build it from scratch and not bother with breaking down the Varmint. I would think.

Came out to be a cool little build. Not gonna lie though, I’m a little partial to the factory styling of CZs.
I still have a couple factory setups I really like
I have a stock CZ457 and it shoots well...but yours is pretty darn much better than mine. That magazine well is tempting to get one for myself.

I really like the the flat shoe timney. I’ve seen several of these shoot sk really well.
How is the balance on that build? I'm headed in almost that exact direction, and I've wondered if I need to add a bunch of weight
Not a bunch but I’d probably recommend the mdt weight for under the barrel in this chassis
Is the lilja barrel a "plug and play"
Chris, what pic rail did you use? Is there enough of a flat on the bottom of the forend on the factory varmint stock to mount an arca rail?
The bottom of the factory stock isn’t flat you could sand or mil it flat. Pic rail? Do you mean scope rail? It’s from tiggers by scar.
