Really excited to hear about Canadian vendors at Knit City and other Canadian makers as it can be hard when a lot of podcasts feature all US yarns and products which means shipping and customs. Getting back into knitting after a long medical hiatus. Podcasts and project bags have blown up since I last knit (early Binh Swifty days). Happy to have found you. Thanks ladies.
Knit City sounds like so much fun and had so many of the stores and people I have always wanted to see. Thank you for sharing your yarns, stores, and laughs. What a generous giveaway. You ladies rock.
Hi ladies. Natalie from Knitty Natty had spoken of your podcast which led me to subscribe about a month or two ago. I love how long your videos are, and am a big fan of your content. I laugh a lot and am inspired to make so many sweaters and try so many types of yarns. I’ve purchased some Frankie Grey yarn that’s due to arrive on Monday am so excited for it. Sharing your experience about Montreal makes me so excited to go to a festival. Without writing a novel, I really enjoyed this episode and look forward to the next one. Love you! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for sharing the Soufflé!! I’m truly honoured and I’m so glad you like it! You can totally knit it in fingering and mohair, one of my testers made it with silk which was 👌. You can also move the ruffle if you prefer, just make sure your ruffle placement round is just before an increase round, and it is held dongle for ultimate lightness! I’m just off the celebrate the first podcast I ever watched sharing my first garment design!! Woohoo!!! 💃💃💃 xxx
I totally agree about the tubular bind off. I did my first time on 2 toddler sweaters sleeves because they had chubby arms 😅 And I can’t wait to use it again.
Thanks so much for the shout out...you know I love you both from the moon and back! I am hoping to make it to Knit City next year! Sending you both lots of hugs and love.
Thought from long time subscriber: just thinking when you frame and center the two of you, seeing more of the items you show and being able to see what you are holding would be delightful- rather than the shelves. ♥️👍🏽♥️
Thanks Ladies thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Montreal and hearing about all these lovely yarns, thanks for the inspiration while finishing the last sleeve on Ilha
Great episode ladies! So much inspiration every time...GAHHH! I want to make all the things and buy all the yarn. You two will be either the making of me or the death of me!!!
OMG! Just discovered your podcast and watching old ones… just had a Christmas party with the Cabin Boys knit, Dolphins and the gang from Les tricoteuses du quartier!
It has been a pleasure to catch up with you both. You made my 1x1 rib on my love note fly by! I hope you both get lots of knitting time over the Easter break!
OMG!! I can’t believe you remembered me! You mentioned me at 1:41:01. I was the total loser fangirling like crazy at Knit City wearing the crochet sweater with the lace and ruffle! That’s me! I’m the freak who accosted you! LOL I love you guys so frickin much! Thank you so much for being so gracious and kind and saying hello and taking a picture with me. You were seriously the highlight of Knit City for me! Thank you ladies, you’re wonderful! Your friend from Ottawa!
So lovely to hear about your trip. I am off to Wonderwool Wales next week and I can't wait.his so lovely to be able to go to shows again. Montreal sounds amazing.
I test knit the Soufflé! It was an amazing experience. You get through the single mohair knitting really fast because you can't wait to knit the next section. I was able to knit it quickly in 4 weeks because it was so fun! Laura is an incredible designer!!! she has a lot of amazing designs in the works.
Jodi and Tracie, you would'n't believe, I am knitting a "Mallorca" it is summer tee with lace yoke, on 2.5 mm needles, with lovely fiber bought at knit city, from Trailhead yarns, in Fundy tides 55% Cotton 45% linen. I tought it would take me forever, but I knitted the yoke in one week, 7 rows to go before separating for the sleeves. It is short sleeves, so I hope to finish it in a total of 3 weeks of monogamous knitting. Happy Easter to all your family.
I washed my swatch like you suggested, but completely forgot to measure it !!! I was focused on the feel and would I like it better after washing. But what a ding dong.
Loved hearing about Knit City Montreal and even MORE excited you're coming to NY Sheep and Wool! I'm going too with two friends! We already have our AirB&B and will be traveling from Virginia. If I'm able to meet the two of you, that will be icing on the Rhinebeck Cake!!!!
Hello from Airdrie Alberta. Tracie - I love your green sweater with white and grey stripes. You look great in it, and I would like to shamelessly copy this idea . Jody - the bright yellow cast on looks fantastic on your blush pullover. Great podcast as always - Kasia
It was fun meeting you at Knit City (elevator)! I too bought that Sonder pink yarn because of Natalie! Maybe I’ll see you at Rhinebeck and wear it there!
Yeah!! You are talking summer weight yarns. I am sooo excited. Although, I have to say that up here in Waimea/Kamuela, HI were are in our 4th week of rain and in the clouds. Several days of indoor temperatures of 64° which is a sweater needed temperature for me. So I am pushing myself to start knitting sweaters for weather like this. But can I actually finish one in less than a year? Maybe the vest? We have 2 small portable heaters, with one in my husband's office and the other in the master bath. We additionally have an electric fireplace in the living room for when sitting in there. But nothing for the kitchen where I spend my day. I am caring for all the fresh greens while watching you too. You make this tedious task somewhat fun.
I normally hold myself back when it comes to shopping all these wonderful lovely yarny beauties because international shipping is crazy. But how could I not with these super cute mini pullovers from the yarn therapist 😍 so I will probably be like Jody in 3 or more months when the parcel will arrive 😂
Fleece artist has colourwork yoke kits with a rainbow skein for the colourwork… I have one and you’ve inspired me to pull it out! I’m thinking Gardengate by Jennifer Steinglass
I did my first tubular bind off today and I wanted to kick myself. It wasn’t hard at all and looks so much more professional! Why was I so apprehensive? Do it, Jody, you’ll be sold.
I identify with the negative effect of comments. "Don't know if that's a good look for you." So rude. But once, I sabotaged myself by trying a raglan sweater on in a nice retail shop. It was a heavily textured yarn AND cably stitches combined. I loved it on the hanger, BUUUUUT.....when I looked at myself in the circus mirrors in the fitting room, I gasped. It was like the raglan lines were FRAMING my ample bust. They popped in NOT a flattering way. I was turned off raglans for YEARS. I only knit them (because they ARE so fun to knit) for my less busty daughters. I was jealous and sad. Then I realized that I had done this to myself by not remembering that fabric, drape, and texture MATTERS...not to mention a good BRA. So....this episode has me excited to cast on a raglan for myself again. I'm a little nervous but I'm not doing cables and I'm knitting in a looser gauge AND more positive ease. AND my bra is not loosey goosey and all over the place. Thank you for radiating positivity and joy in knitting.
Every time I put on a red sweater, my husband says “oh, it must be a red sweater day!” It means I feel good and I want to look as good as I feel. Red sweaters are not just for Christmas. It’s a power color.
Traci I’m on the hunt for a pattern to knit a sheer type casual cardigan to wear in the summer. I live in Australia, it gets so hot with high humidity but I still don’t feel dressed unless I have a cardi on. I love the mohair fabric but am wondering if there is a cooler option? Any help with a summer, beach weather pattern and yarn ideas would be amazing ty
i want to do some one skein projects because i never buy the nice yarns because theyre so expensive but if its just one skein of something fun it will be worth it
Found you ladies from recommendation from needles at the ready pod cast and have been binge watching videos while I crochet (can't seem to find many crochet podcasts). All your socks shawls ans sweater make me want to try knitting again. I want to make socks but wonder if you have any suggestions on where a crochet-er should begin for knitting? Thank you for all the entertainment!
haha I like hovering over the thumb nail to this video on the sidebar. Jodi sits down and then looks like she leans sideways and then disappears, making it seem like she fell off the chair. Makes me laugh.
Ok! What color mohair is NATURAL? I’ve looked at Drops and others and is it off white? Oat? What would be the color name for the “natural” that you mention? Thanks and hugs!!
oops... that's kind of vague isn't it. LOL. We were referring to undid mohair. It is a creamy white-ish colour. Hope that is clearer. :D I think Off White and Oat would both work really well.
Sometimes I feel like this is the yarny version of the Home Shopping Network. You two make me want to buy all of the things!! 🧶🧶🧶❤️
Love this description! They’re such the enablers. LOL
😂
Yes I have brought a lot because of these two 😂

I do so love your relationship, you guys. So lucky for 2 sisters with similar interests. Much love x

What a fun time you all had at Knit City! Thanks for sharing.
I almost got through the podcast without stopping to buy something you showed ... and then you brought out the sheep stitch marker set 🙂🙃
This was so entertaining and fun to listen to, I loved both the jumpers especially the rose coloured one with the adjustable neck

Hey. Your setup works. You don’t need to change anything. 😂😂😂🥰🥰
You inspire me to knit! It’s perfectly normal to have 1, 2 or …even 3 sweaters worth of yarn waiting for a cast on!😆
I love Montreal! It takes about 6 hours from NYC but it is a really pretty drive. I've been in summer and October and so beautiful.

At 1:20 Traci mentioned a commercially dyed yarn brand but I couldn’t catch the name. Anyone catch the name please?
Can you link to the sondar yarn used in the pink sweater Jodi?
It’s the colour Les Filles in the Grace & Haze bases
