Im a finisher too. My husband brings home any sewing and yarn from farm and estate auctions that he finds, and often there are knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlework, sewing, etc that have not been finished and I love finishing them. Especially when I know who started them and they have passed away.

Thanks for the tip about twisting the barber cord ONTO the needle! I was always frustrated by the cord coming off the needle in the middle of the transfer (I guess I pull too hard on the cord 😊). But since I started your tip, the cord doesn’t come off unless I REALLY pull hard. So awesome!!!

Just wanted to let you know that our knitting group here Mount Gambier in South Australia regularly receive donations of unfinished items and yarn and complete them to be given to family or charity. We’re called Twisted Threads. Thank you so much for your podcast. I’ve learned so much especially about knitting and Canada. I simply can’t believe how low the temperature gets in your Winter. It’s so much fun watching you. So thanks again. Hopefully one day I can work out the time difference so I can watch you live.

I don't know how I lived without my Barber cords! Like Tracie, I knit top down sweaters and they make it so easy to try them on. I also use them to hold my sleeve stitches. I tie them to keep my stiches from slipping off. They ARE a game changer!

The yarn from Mexico hasn't been finished and that's why it is curly. That means it is a bit overspun. To finish it. Soak in tepid water for about 30 minutes. Press excess water out like you do a sweater, and then wack it against a wall or the tub until the yarn is balanced and smooth. You can bang it on the wall pretty hard. Be sure to hold the yarn in different places when you do it so you get an even yarn. Hang to dry. Some people put a weight of some sort on it while it is drying to pull any curls out. I don't do that.

Hint for traveling to the warm to hot and humid areas and you want to knit. Think summer tees that are only linen, cotton and silk blends. Last year I wanted to do your summer KAL getting ready for winter sweater. Got the gauge done but it’s hard to knit wool sweater when it’s 95-100 f with humidity of 90%+ Even in doors with good AC.

Being a high arch person, I loved your discussion on sock heels. My go to would always be heel flap and gusset, but sometimes I want a contrast color heel so I will try a cut in afterthought heel adding 6 to 8 rows before knittinh the heel. Jodi, I love the mix of colors for the hats, It almost lokks like painting with yarn.

Humidity does make knitting hard! I live in Eastern Texas, and I knit all summer but only in the air conditioning. And I absolutely cannot knit mohair once it starts to warm up (which is right now!). Although it was 30 F this morning, we have already had several 80 F days. I am desperately trying to finish a test knit with mohair 😝

I am also working on gauge for You and I Knit pattern. My first swatch I came out with 18 or 19 stitches per inch and I'm now up to 20, but I haven't reached 21. So Tracy this has been a very helpful discussion. I am using Bamboo Pop sport held with Manos lace weight baby alpaca, silk and touch of cashmere. I love the feel using US size 4 needles. I also only want 1" 2" at the most ,ease. I am 34" bust, 5' 2". OH YES, I got this pattern because of you guys! This will be my first sweater in 20 years.

It is a deep multicolor red. And I held it with one strand of Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud lace in the color Elizabeth, a deep red. It turned out beautiful. I love it.

Is the sequin yarn itchy against your skin in a sweater? I know with sequined sewing fabric, you have to trim out the sequins or cover them where they touch the skin at the neck or in the seams. And this goes through on both sides of the fabric when you knit it, all the way down the sweater.

1:39:00 OMG, Tracie! I was in Huatulco the same time you were less than a mile further down the road by La Bocana Beach, and I also met Sol and got a presentation on the natural dying! The huge looms were amazing. Huatulco was beautiful! I’m from Montana, but everyone one we met there was from Alberta. I asked every single Canadian if they knew you guys 😂 The four small projects that tagged along with me only saw the light of day on the planes! Definitely hard to knit when it’s that humid.

I was gifted a set of the original barber cords and was so excited. I've twice had them come off, even though I attached them just like you did. I dropped so many stitches and it took so long to pick them all up. I was wondering if the type and size of needle cause them to fall off. I was knitting with 4mm steel tips. I'd love to know which type of needles you use to keep them on. Thanks so much!
