  • In this video I show the installation of first the rear then the front shocks on my lightweight 1992 Ford Ranger. I go into detail on how to install the front shocks, and describe the difference in ride between the stock shocks, replacing the rear shocks only, and finally having all four Bilstein 4600s installed on the truck, both front and rear.

my 90 had no sway bars from factory.with 600 lb lawn tractor in bed it leaned horribly with 4 new kyb gasmatic shocks.found a "mid" mount 1 1/8th sway bar on 84 4wd at junkyard.new poly bushings & my severe leaning is gone.i like the mid mount bars that attach to radius arms more than the front mounts that snap outer connectors so easily.DEFINATELY worth the $ IF you can find mid 80s 4wd's to take from.

Somethin to note here guys, when installing the drivers’ side front shock, do your best to avoid moving the brake lines coming off the brake booster. I think I may have created a kink in my brake lines there resulting in some weird pedal feel, so I’ll need to replace those. Thanks for watching!
Edit: I had a real mechanic working on the truck today and he diagnosed that it had a brake proportioning valve issue, which appears to be the cause of the odd pedal feel I experienced There wasn't a kink in the brake lines above the driver's side shock. Still best to be cautious.

I was wondering why i couldnt fit the front shocks on my 1990 ranger, i was trying to put in the new nut/washer/bushing on the bottom and the new bushing/old nut and washer on top and the threads wouldnt fit through, thanks for the video!!
