I don’t know why I love these videos so much. I don’t even own a Volvo...
Same thing for me. In one way it's look easy and Yuri work so properly.
Nice work and nice video! Thanks for always doing great videos! Your XC70 looks perfect!
Beautiful installation - love the looks!
Thank you for your passion for Volvo. We all like your videos. Please give us more!
Two more coming up! Thx
Looks really nice !
What a lot of work !
Wow…. Great job. Thank you for taking the time and effort to video this….no easy task in itself….they look great!
Amazing job guys!! Very nice and clean.
Sometimes, the look IS more important, than function. It looks cool, AND will come in handy. Beautiful work.
I Totally disagree with this all fashion, no function mind set.
It really looks awesome. Nice job
Yuri I don't know how many videos I already watched, your friend Yevgeny is probably the best mechanic I know, excellent "done my son " spasiba !!!
Thx!
Very nice lights on a great car!
yes I am a fan of auxiliary lights, very old school classic
Great Work, looks great, just replaced the Alternator-decoupler-pulley, idler pulley, belt tensioner, serpentine belt, water pump on my 2009 XC70, 105,000 Klms, probably a little early but feel better they have been done. Belt Tensioner under the Air-Condioning Compressor was making slight bearing noise. Keep up the great work👍
Will do a video on all that you listed.
The bracket is awesome !!!!
My goodness, I just need to give you my XC60 T6 for a month and just have you work your Volvo wizardry on it for me. Your XC70 is super awesome. Really want to add some auxiliary lighting now.
Thx. Bring it!
Actually they look very nice. Congrats
Normal in sweden is to use the high beam switch. And to connect the relay to the batteri directly...
And the signal should always come from the highbeam and not from the batteri or parkinglight as it is in the end of the video
Once again, excellent video!
My V70 is imported from Sweden and was factory fitted with these lights according to the option list in TIE. Unfortunately, they had to remove the lights because it is not road legal in The Netherlands. But the switch for the "Extraljus" and the software is still present, so maybe I'm going to re-fit them in the future. Every Volvo looks extra cool with extra headlights!
Make a google search for "extraljus sweden" and you will not be dissapointed! 👌💥🏎
/ Your friendly neighborhood swede
@@adammm142 i was not dissapointed, thank you!
Unfortunately they are also not street legal here in Portugal.
Het is zeker wel legaal hier, Totaal aantal grootlicht mag 4x zijn.
dus dimlicht zoals altijd, grootlicht + 2 extra grootlicht.
Great i stall and smart thinking on the upper brackets 👍🏻👍🏻
looks good with hella!
light looks perfect
The one time I'm disappointed in having the front radar and sensors in my grill/bumper lol.
Looks great man. Jelly I can't do this to my XC70
The grills look sportier with the mesh, and I also think that auxiliary lights look great on the XC's! Almost bought one myself just because the XC70 looks like a beast.. Ended up with a S60 T6 instead :)
Thumbii but why not the beast...?
@@jasper_north more expensive repairs, bigger vehicle, etc.. beefier suspension parts add up fast
BRAVISSIMO ottimo lavoro pulito senza difetti, sembra come uscito dalla fabbrica !
Yuri next time try rubber boot in the light bracket it will absord the vibration.
Nice job. I has been waiting for a month since the trailer, please keep it up. You're my inspiration
Rubber will not help. It's too big and heavy for the bracket.
Those look soooo good
Great job, very informative. I did something similar in a Mitsubishi Montero 2nd generation.
good idea for standard bumper , thanks will try , cheers from Indonesia
Luvya work boys, thanks for sharing. Australia. 😁
I love it. Thank you for your video
I like xc70s with auxiliary lights, its very common in Sweden. The lights makes the car look like swedish unmarked police cars 👍 when we install auxiliary lights, all mounting brackets can be bought, which is very handy if your father is'nt a skilled metal worker 👍
In Europe nowadays and especially in Sweden you see more and more LED light bars mounted as an extra high beam light.
What you did to use the Hella’s as an extra low beam light would get you in trouble with the law because officially that’s not allowed in Europe. (lots of people use their fog lights on the front for that.) furthermore I would like to say that I appreciate your videos and enthusiasm very much! Keep up the good work, regards from the Netherlands.
I know what you say. I am not using them in the city. On highways as low beam for extra light.
No such thing as front "fog lights". Those "fog" lights in the bumpers of cars are kerbside illumination lights specifically desingned to illuminate both kerbsides on roads where there are no street lights.
@@terrortorn Not sure what part of the world your claim might apply, but both the XC70's manual and my country's traffic rules specifically name fog lights, front and rear.
@@UHGPRA It is true that "fog light" is a term commonly used virtually everywhere and that includes manufacturers. And for the rear light perfectly true. Rear lights having no lens that casts a beam of light they only illuminated the rear of the vehicle and the rear "fog light" brighter than the normal rear light to help in foggy conditions. But the inter bumper lights, and it was these I was specifically referencing and not any after-market bolt ons, are so angled and dipped to illuminate the roadside. They have no specific fog use but designed for use on unlit roads with ill defined edges. As far back as the late 80's Ford were calling them "driving lights" on their Sierras although I have no doubt "fog light" was also used.
@@terrortorn subaru absolutely uses them as fog lights and they do help in foggy conditions. at least on my outback where they made them larger for that purpose
In my S80 there is AUX light toggle in sensus software, and it turns on together with high beam. I wonder if it is possible to add one of the blank buttons in center console and use it independently of high beam. Great video!
suppose to use them for the highbeams but hey, nice vid
Very nice video!
Hella clean install.......
Hello mate! I’ve done so much work on my v40 by myself, incl the block heater installation. Now I’m about to install a led bar... not that hard but just one question... in many UA-cam videos you see they use the main battery as a source for the lights and you use the cigarette lighter wiring. Do you recommend this rather than the connection to the battery, having the fuses etc in mind. Pascal
It's important that auxiliary lights do not shake or vibrate. I'm not convinced that lamp bracket will achieve that. I suggest you fit a stay to the back of the lamps.
If you are going to have only two auxiliaries, I suggest fog lights turned out at say 30 degrees (or crossed) to act as cornering lights. For electrical connection, I suggest a relay so the fogs only work when the side lights are on. You need a stem switch so you can switch on/off with your hand still on the steering wheel. When you drive narrow twisty roads at night, you will be glad of cornering lights. If on the other hand you drive entirely main roads, you are wasting your time and money. Or in your case, all fashion, no function.

I just drilled a hole in my v70 2010 behind the license plate and put two M8 bolts with locking nuts in the back, did not take the bumper off, and it hold for 5 nbb225 :)
How did you make a spacer?
Wasabi. When I did mine I bought some small (1.25" diameter) solid rubber caster wheels at Çanadian tire to use as spacers. They worked great. Used a 1.25" hole saw to cut away the exterior plastic of the bumper and the caster wheels fit perfectly. Didn't use Yuri's heated socket approach and the saw makes a cleaner hole.
Är inte m8 lite svag för 5 nbb 225?
De räckte för mig, och 3-4 självdragande skruv tog jag med 😄
@@Alexander-lv2mi Genom fästet och rakt in i kofångaren?
I love your videos. What do you use to clean your engine compartment?
Good work there are some cool videos you make ... I have the same Volvo model and color as yours. so I follow you so I can learn something from you ... keep making videos about our car. Regards Peter from Denmark
Nice! Been to Copenhagen in 2003. Beautiful city.
nice job and video. I appreciate your time making it. But man, is a lot of work, Couldn't be connected to the low beam wiring a bit closer to the lamps? Been in the front of the rad, won't restrict the airflow in hot weather?
looks good
Hey this was an excellent idea for mounting those lights!! I'm desperately hunting for ways to mount my light bar to my 98 V70 do you think this tactic would work for mine? Also how long of bolts did you use for mounting the bracket?
Hi there, nice install! Very factory! Few questions, do you know the company VolvoTech? Them make this canbus tool which you can use to program the car to use the factory high beam lever for aux lights. Like you pull once for high beams, then again for aux lights, then the third time shuts them all off (or you can program it to any button you like).
Secondly, I recently put some aux lights on my S80, and I noticed that because mine is auto, there is a rubber piece where you would find the clutch on the driver side, made for a much easier time running wires. Did you know about this?
Nunca he tenido un Volvo pero muy interesante. 👍
Good job Polska... I am debating between these lights and a 22" LED bar which fits perfectly in the low opening of the bumper on my 2004 XC70
Nice Renegade Jubilee outro music !!!
I am from sweden and when you see a volvo, Saab or volkswagen with extra lights and antenns you slowing down because sweden have a lot of police cars without you know like ”POLIS” or blue lights.
It is a wery nice car you have and special with that lights!😉👍
Thx! Will for sure visit Sweden!
volvosweden where do you come from?
I was born in USSR. Now in Canada.
I'll be installing something similar on my 2008 XC90 V8. Are you worried at all about blocking air flow to the engine with the auxiliary lights?
Thanks again
Do you think it would be possible to install an led highbeam inside the grille of the car? Is there enough space? I have an -09 XC70 and a W-Light Typhoon 590, which is around 56cm wide. I currently do not have the car near me but was wondering if it would fit.
Nice 🔥
you dont need a switch in the car on your volvo . . volvo has Auxiliary lights in canbus , yust take a cable from canbus box to the releset.. the cable gives - negativ ,, dealer will activate this option. and you can turn on/off in the car display :)
In my country, Egypt, the dealer refuse to activate any oem option unless all the spare parts are oem by volvo! Also, it must be installed by them. I had this problem when I tried to add a rear camera
@@TubesWidener Email Volvo, dealerships are not allowed to do this unless it's a safety concern.
Volvo's work in a strange way, expect to pay a decent amount to get this software.
Way to complicated to explain.
Good job man is top
Do they make infrared or photon multiplier system with hud projector for dimly lit driving? Would not be nice? Color quite irrelevant, silhouettes with good contrast is sufficient.
I think the installation has covered the grid and will affect the air intakes for the radiator ventilation.
For me, the best place to install Hella lamps is next to the license plate.
Hugs
It’s Manitoba man, that’s all you need to know 😂
Thaks a lot sir!
Good brain, Why you did not use stainless steel screws? and is aconsejable use pressure washers for evite drop the nuts with the vibrations. Thanks for the video
I live in america, i have a good russian friend that is allll about his volvos😂😂 great video👍
Why on final drive were day running lights off, can you turn yours off !
Help! I have the xc70 2016. How do I slide the computer from behind the glove box out of the way to get the wire into the cabin? Does unplugging it cause a reset?
Can you please post video of results after installing antivibration clamps..
Nice video as always.
Hopefully you aimed your aux. lights much higher afterwards, than you had on a video.
Would be nice to see some night driving clip.
Aimed them as low beam. I decided not shot any night video so there will not be any unnecessary discussion. Thx!
Nice video man, I'm looking at adding the same lights to my V60 Polestar... that said, did you see any increase in the running temperature (especially in the summer)? Maybe I'm being paranoid but that's my biggest worry...
I have 5 auxillary light wich is 225mm wide in diameter, 3 of them cover the front grill and i have not noticed any higher temperature on my engine in the summers here in sweden ;)
I have them on my Raptor as well.
On my -07a, Volvo has already pulled out a connection plug for extra light..😳. On the left side. What is needed is an original connector on the dashboard, connection already finished ..
Nice job, but I don't know why you bothered installing the wire grill mesh for stone and bug protection, I mean after you fitted the spot lights the radiator grill was completely covered anyway, so no stones, bugs or more importantly AIR could get to it anyway, it'll be overheating next summer lol :D
Yeah I was sort of kidding on the over heating, but you can't argue those spots do cover a good 50% at least of the grill area, so most of the bugs and stones will be hitting them instead :D
Hi...what size bolts were those and where did you find them? How did you make or find those two spacers? I want to install some LED driving lights on my 2013 XC70 and think the bracket mounting advice Yuri has provided in this video is awesome! The guy is the Russian MacGyver!
And it is now 2 months later and I installed two Rough Country led lights on my xc70 using the mounting advice you gave on the video and they look freaking awesome. I had to special order the 8 1/2 " bolts ($20ea) and I hooked the lights directly into high beams so interior switch not needed. Thanks Yurt! Your video was inspirational!
Is it possible to piggyback the auxiliary lights to the high beams?
Where can I find these spacers and how long is the bolt you are using?
Where i can take auxillary reverse light?
Do you know where I can take reverse light signal for external reverse light?

Big thank you! Hello to Sweden. Home of Volvo.
@@volvosweden I live 15min drive from the factory where your and all XC70/V70 are made :) Thanks for a great channel.
I am jealous!
Your dealer can provide you with software, who gives you a ground signal from cem and the button in center panel.
Where do you buy the bracket to hold the lights?
There is a kit sold from Volvo that you connect directly to CEM and with a switch in the central console. But you need additional software downloaded to the car.
I know. The kit is not cheap.
@@volvosweden do you know the part number for this kit? just curious how it is implemented
Volvo accessory web. Choose uk for region.
You need these lights huh... for early animal detection etc? Very brave decision drilling holes all over the place...Respect. I am not convinced man... not yet...think you are not either. But like you said you can always go back to OEM.
knarfmedvro heerlijk...ik vind het niks. Zit je ook op Swedespeed en VOLVO forum? 😹
Great video, one question, Why havent you connected the lights to turn on when you activate the highbeams?
Wanted independent control
@@volvosweden You can have a tree-way switch to be able to have both ;) pos1-ON pos2-Off pos3-On with org-highbeam
отличный брэкит! где можно приобрести что-то подобное?
So the headlight washers work now? I never saw you using them. I will admit that I skipped a bit of the video since I am watching at work.
They do!!! Skipping is not a problem. I do it! ;)
i like your car
So how do you adjust the lights?
Hello, Swedespeedrussian!
Habe you thought about the gearshifter from 2014-2016 model? Its a plug and play fit:)
Just bought a 2010 d5 205hk, will convert it to able xenon, and some other goodies:)
Hey! I dont like the new shifter style on pre restyle XC70! My own opinion. Gongrats on the purchase!!
This is a happy comment.
got any more information on this? is there any way to wire up an OEM switch on the dash for this purpose? I know the older XC70 and XC90 had this...
@@macadood My bad, I got it mixed up with the older platform, realized my mistake today when I installed some.
Love at 20:17 the volvo 😋
Лайк. В топ.
Ah u VIDA disabled Swedish DRL and made it into EU DRL....nice . Guess DRL rules in Manitoba is similar to Ontario? Not really enforced like the Maritimes :). Good job as always
Just a little question... will the lights affect the air intake for the coolers and the engine?
Dont think a drastic decrease.
It will take 1 liter air less per hour...thats fine.
What roof bars are they?
en LYSSANDE installation ! 😁
That's witty!
@@Christerart1 Problem though that LYSSANDE is not a Swedish word....
Wouldn't it has been easier if you put the cables from the auxillary light to the high beams in the normal light? Then you wouldn't have to put the switch in the interior either.
It's easier. But I wanted independent control. Also at the moment the Hella lights are aimed as Low beam. No glare to oncoming traffic.
@@volvosweden Those lights are used to supplement the high beam headlamps. Even if you aim them low you will still dazzle oncoming drivers as there is no upper cutoff in the beam. Either use them only with the high beams (and aim them correctly) or get the fog light model with a beam pattern cutoff that doesn't blind other drivers.
@@volvosweden You are most likely blinding other drivers even with them aimed down since the light pattern is designed to give light without any cut of, you can even see one of the cars you meet at 16:30 flash their highbeams at you since you are blinding them. Aim them correctly and use them as compliments to your highbeam and you will have much more use of them and you will be more legal, this applies to your truck aswell.
How long was the bolts you use to hold the bracket?
30cm
I want to get the oem kit for them. But this was probably a cheaper option
Exactly.
Nice video... what is the difference between hella 500 and hella 700??
Size!
200
You could of wired the lights up the the main beam circuit
I prefer led bars as they are more efficient and don't interfere with the car look so much. But retro is good too
whats that tool called?
What LED’s do you have in your headlights?
Not LED. Regular halogens.
Thank you they just looked a little blue in the video sorry for the confusion
After seeing what it involves to install these lights and the lack of benefit with it being somewhat limited to the looks, I don't think its something I would do as my thoughts were related more to more light on the road and less to the look of which I'm not all that fond of. I don't want to drill holes, burn the holes or hire anyone to fabricate a custom bracket so its a no go for me.
