Fantastic Shader. I'm using this as a base line for a Custom/ Composite ToonShader. Out of all the Toonshaders for Eevee This is my fav man. Keep up the good work!
It hasn't been long since I posted it, it will probably get a few more soon. But even if it don't, I'm already very happy to know seven hundred people watched it. 😁
THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY VIDEOS FOR TOON SHADER. SO FAR THIS IS THE BEST ONE. - Shows process/results at start - Less than 10 minutes - Goes step by step - No other videos showed attaching Textures and Backlight
Noob question, if someone could please clarify: do you have to go through the whole shading process for each object that’s is a different colour - eg a shirt is different to skin etc. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
do the shadows and everything change as the camera moves and the lighting source moves as well or will there need to be some adjustments to acquire that level? thank you for the great video.
Hey, what about adding image textures for different elements? Say for example I had painted the face for a character in Photoshop & then wanted to place that in this node setup. How would I do that?
Sure, I will show it next time I make a blender video. Until then I can give you a quick guide: -First download or make a color pallete and open it as an image texture -In edit mode select the parts that you want to color on the model. -Press U to uwnrap if needed -Go to the UV editor, select all, press S to scale and then type 0 (number zero) or make it small enough to fit inside the color on the texture. -Then you just drag it to the color you want to use I learned this method from Imphenzia, I recommend you check out some of his videos if you want to see how to set it up.
Just asking for future use but I don't think there is a Mix RGB setting now, only mix color, so how do you use your image texture now that is has changed? ty:)
how did you set up the palettes for the colors in the scene (i.e. making the leaves green, rocks grey from just the image palette? Thanks for the tutorial
I'm not sure if this is going to help with your problem but you can use weight paint on the solidify modifier to select where the outline is going to show. With this you may be able to hide the parts that are not working properly.
hey how's it going? I have a model that when I went to texturize it, I used erase alpha, to make a cartoonish effect, is there any way to make the toon shader with erase alpha, I already tried and I couldn't.
Question! I want to use the character outside of Blender. Should I keep the Solidify modifier when rigging the character? Will I have to worry about the inverted hull animating with the character?
Yes, you should keep it. If you rig the character BEFORE applying the modifier it should work without a problem when you animate it. Doing it it after will make it very difficult to set the weights properly on the outline and the model in a way that they remain aligned. They will probably not move at the same rate when animating.
But if the software you are using can create outlines I recommend you use it instead of the solidify method. It will reduce the poly count and you won't have to worry about problems with the animation.
The problem with this is that, you must do this to every single mesh/object, like the background or others Is there any addon that make every object became toon shader??
I don't know if there is an add-on that can do this, but you can copy and paste the nodes into other materials. It's also possible to copy the solidify modifier with all the setting to other objects. It still takes some time but at least you don't have to redo the whole process.
oooh damn! why i cannot find a real solution on youtube? if i use the solidify modif. it becomes difficult to animate a character! so it is nor an animation frendly you know, ooh how can i do it?
Hi! If I export this to unity, the outline will be there? Usually when I create stuff procedurally I have to texture bake them to get it to work on unity, so idk if I have to do something else to get the outline on unity
This is TOO GREAT. Easy to understand and awesome results
This is so straightforward and clever. Thank you!

Thats probably the best toon shader tutorial out here tbh. Thanks mate.
Woaaaaah! This is such a sick video. Straighforward and clear instructions. I'll try it for myself. Thanks a lot!!
The recalculating normals section saved me! Thanks a bunch my guy 👌
This is underrated! What a great tutorial man, keep it up!!
what!!!!! only 730 views for such a great shader, man you're underrated

This is amazing! I can't tell you how useful this is to me. Thanks so much!
HELL YEEE ITS WORKING ON ME, U DESERVE A SUB!
I was thinking how to do a cartoon shader and then i found this video, awesome, i love u ❤
I'm so thankful of your great tutorial !! I really love your style :D
And I'm thankful for your comment!
Glad you liked it :D
The only one that actually worked!!!
Thank you man. you saved my life
One of the best examples!
Simple, consistent and informative
That trick with backface culling is very clever.
dude this is looking amazing on my model thank you so muchhhh!!!
Honestly that’s the most helpful tutorial on the subject that I found yet. Thank you!
I suffered from invisible outline for a very long time by inverting the normals, here is the solution! Thank you!!!😇🤩
Thank you so much for this. I wanna try it out with my environments
I wish you made a "all you need" lowpoly tutorial.
I'd happy to play for it. you are really one of the best.
that method for outlining is genius
This is exactly what i needed to make my ROR2 Models
This is really amazing! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge it has been of great help to me.
Perfect tutorial thank you so much 🙌🙌
My bad 3D models looks great now because of this :DDD.
thank you sm for the tutorial!
Excellent and informative . Thanks for this video

great tutorial thanks!
Excellent, thank you
thank you great job
Thank you, this helped so much
Tutorial incrível! Como faz diferença um vídeo legendado. Me inscrevi no seu canal e já vou colocar em prática o que aprendi nessa aula.
Obrigado pelo comentário, fico feliz em saber que o vídeo foi util 😁
I can't find the mix rgb at 1:36 in cycles or eeevee
Noob question, if someone could please clarify: do you have to go through the whole shading process for each object that’s is a different colour - eg a shirt is different to skin etc. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Only if you use different materials for each color.
Great tutorial.

Thanks, glad you liked it!
Yes, the shadows change if you move the light source, no adjustments required.
Hey, what about adding image textures for different elements? Say for example I had painted the face for a character in Photoshop & then wanted to place that in this node setup.
How would I do that?
You could create a new material for the face, copy the same settings and just replace the color pallete with the face texture.
@@BauMaker thank you bro! Will test this out today, appreciate the response 😁
Hey, so you added an image texture, which colored the whole thing. could you show us how you did that?
Sure, I will show it next time I make a blender video. Until then I can give you a quick guide:
-First download or make a color pallete and open it as an image texture
-In edit mode select the parts that you want to color on the model.

@@BauMaker thanks alot for that, i was very confused for a long time 😂😂😂
Nice!!
Thanks!
I dont understand any of this nodes but will copy that hehe , thx bro
Ok, subscribed. Ty
I'm having issues with this. Part of my model (despite using the same material) is still shaded normally, even when the ColorRamp is set to Constant.
do you know how to make the outline less transparent? great tutorial btw
I didn't understand. You gave so many tones to the model with a single image with a color palette? How?😢
I've made tutorial showing how to do it: ua-cam.com/video/KVBVqrPV878/v-deo.html
thank you u are thebest
Amazing tutorial!
Bro i have one question how to export model with outline? When i do it my model full black
You must set the outline material to render only the front faces in the software you are going to use.
good work
Thanks!
Hey do you still have that color pallet? It just right for my own project
You're a prince!!
Just asking for future use but I don't think there is a Mix RGB setting now, only mix color, so how do you use your image texture now that is has changed? ty:)
The name changed but it still works the same way.
it's possible to bake outlines? To make this effect by texture?
how did you set up the palettes for the colors in the scene (i.e. making the leaves green, rocks grey from just the image palette? Thanks for the tutorial
I have a video showing how to set it up.
ua-cam.com/video/KVBVqrPV878/v-deo.htmlsi=TEjo6M5Ft-Pz3ILe
Is there a way to make the stroke a constant width depending on how far or close the camera is to the object?
This can be done by using a driver on the thickness value and some math to calculate the distance between the object and the camera.
Buenas amigo, gracias por el vídeo, sabrías como cambiar el color del efecto fresnel?
In 3:20 you can put a new color in Color 2 of the Mix RGB instead of connecting the original texture.
@@BauMaker thanks!
is it possible to cook all of these into 1 material in cycles ?
thank you
Is there a way to make it so you cant see through the outline? Some of my outlines are starting with a weird offset...
I'm not sure if this is going to help with your problem but you can use weight paint on the solidify modifier to select where the outline is going to show. With this you may be able to hide the parts that are not working properly.

thanks, coz i cant download the lattest blender i really need this tuts n u save me!!!thanks
I did this and it looked really good but as soon as I tried to rig my model the solidify modifier ruined it please help

thanks a lot! :D
Hi Do I have to save the color as image texture and bring it???
Me ajudou demais esse video! Valeu!!
In the new version of the program there is no node shader to RGB, how to replace it?
Are you using Cycles as render engine? Shader to RGB only shows if you are using Eevee.
uooow nice

how do I do this with the sky texture?
How do you have all the parts of your model as one object, but also individual editable parts?
Parts of my mesh are not being outlined what do I do?
Someone explain to me how I get the UV Edito color palette
I've made a tutorial showing how: ua-cam.com/video/KVBVqrPV878/v-deo.html
Okay how do i achieve this in game engines
how did you learned that? it is too complicated for me
thanks
what do you mean by "this only works in Blender game engines?"
oooh damn! why i cannot find a real solution on youtube? if i use the solidify modif. it becomes difficult to animate a character! so it is nor an animation frendly you know, ooh how can i do it?

@@starlit8223 No, it's imposible since the only way to texture bake is using Cycles and not Eevee
outline isnt working. backface culling does nothing and i dont get any outlines
edit: i got the outline to work but the lightinjg is weird
i cant fine shader to rgb node!!!!!!!
Is this the inverted hull method?
Yes
i have more than one texture for the model this dosent work
