CFP Expert Hints That ACC Will Lose Teams? | FSU vs ACC Battle Updated | Selling Out To Corporations

  • College Football analyst Josh Pate from 247Sports and CBS has hinted at something big happening soon with the ACC. Pate sent an X post with the GIF of the infamous cup of water in Jurassic Park with ACC as the caption. A commenter asked him if expansion was coming, to which he responded, “the league is about to do the opposite of that.” Is he implying that Florida State or Clemson are about to get out? Both schools are currently suing the ACC in an attempt to break the grant of rights and exit the conference. The Attorney General of Florida is fighting to force the conference to reveal their TV agreements as public records, while ESPN argues they contain trade secrets and cannot be made fully public.
    Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs discuss the latest in the legal drama between Florida State and the ACC. Meanwhile, the Big 12 is looking to sell naming rights to their conference to a corporate sponsor. They could drop the word “Big” and become the AllState 12. Should the ACC look to do something similar for a low risk cash infusion? The Big 12 is also looking to sell 15 to 20% of their conference to a Private Equity form. Donno and Gibbs feel this might be too risky of an avenue for the ACC to explore.

    Also, the Fla judge just granted FSU sovereign immunity and denied the ACC motion to dismiss

    • @malcolmjones27
      @malcolmjones27 17 днів тому +3

      You do realize that that really is no surprise, right? Because the judge in North Carolina is going to do exactly what the judge in Florida just did but it'll be in favor of the ACC continuing their lawsuit against FSU. It's really just tit for tat at the moment but ultimately FSU will have to pay a large sum to get out of the ACC. That's what's going to happen, and they will be out of the ACC but not for a minimum amount like some of you are thinking.

    I think since the interview came out that one of the litigation attorneys who is helping Clemson and FSU. Is a retired attorney from NC who helped write the grant of right contracts and primary involved with ESPNU in Charlotte . A statement from a attorney not involved in this litigation made the most since, is why Josh might think the way he does.
    "You hire the architect to know the best way to tear the building down. You hire the attorney (who wrote the contract) to know the best way to tear up the contract".
    It's crazy to think this man retired less than 60 days before he contacted the schools or someone put a birdie in the schools ear about him. Almost makes you think if there was their bad blood with the new commissioner and certain attorneys. And now all of a sudden Ashley Moody has changed the verbiage in her litigation.

  • @LweissTTU
    @LweissTTU 16 днів тому +3

    Texas Tech alum here. As I am watching the current situation with the ACC, and looking back on what happened with the PAC, I am struck by how similar they are. You have fans of both conferences who are (were) thrilled because they know they have a landing spot in one of the two conferences everyone wants to be in. Then you have fans of schools who think they deserve a seat in them, and are vehemently against joining the Big 12. Last, you have fans who are sitting back wishing, and hoping, that none of this happens. Believe me, the same thing is quietly happening in the Big 12. However, the huge difference between the Big 12, and any other conference? We have been on our “death bed” at different times, for over a dozen years. We have somehow managed to survive. Who knows how long that will last, but to those fans who might be left behind, we understand your pain, and would welcome those schools who might get an invite.
    As a side note, I hope NC State joins the Big 12 because a Tech player was seriously injured during a game a couple of years ago, and he was treated very, very well by those at NC State.

      Wait until you see what happens with the Big 12 in 4 or 5 years. You won't just see something you think is SIMILAR. You will see the EXACT SAME THING with the Big 12 playing the Role of the PAC 12. But you will NEVER see the ACC get PAC 12'd. Mainly because of all the relevant FACTS you do not see in the ACC.

      Nobody out side of North Carolina even knows that there’s a NC State. They’ve had decent success lately, but they’ve been irrelevant in almost every sport since their basketball success in the 1980s. The University of North Carolina, being the flagship school of the state, has national recognition and a well marketed brand. None of this is solely about football. UNC has been playing football for over 100 years. Is it the best? Nope, but a lot of the schools in the SEC and Big 10 are irrelevant in football.

      LMAO What MONEY will you OFFER THEM to get them to JOIN? You have no more Pro Rata NOW.
      Are your current schools going to give up $10 Million EACH just to give the ACC teams $$$ EQUAL to what they will get in the ACC?
      So to get 4 ACC schools... you think yours will give up EVERY PENNY of what they make NOW just to get them?
      You have NO MONEY to OFFER.

    Man, I see that we've got some real haters up in this blog. Well, whatever you want to believe in terms of who's headed over to the Big12, one of those programs isn't Miami. Bet on that.

    The Greedy 2 will probably only take FSU & maybe Clemson, with an open invitation to ND. The rest of your schools would lower their conferences per team take home.
    I really think Sankey knows his teams are by far the most valusble football entities, and he'll stand pat. B1G needs to takebyour best in order to stay close to the SEC.
    When push comes to shove, the Big 12 offering landing strips to NC, Duke, NCST, Miami, Louisville, Virginia,VTech & Pitt will feel like a god send; just like it felt to the 4 corner schools!

      It takes money to run a business and your leadership is not producing your team will go down with the ship.

      If Big grabs FSU, Clemson and somehow grabs ND then the value of the two conferences will need a reexamination. 😂😂😂😂

    Any conference sponsorship should be presented by like the Rose Bowl presented by Citi. The "Chik FIl A Bowl" was ridiculous. Corporate Marketing Depts....presented by....good. inserting your dumb ass name over tradition....BAD.

      I doubt that ND would leave their independence for a conference. NBC television payout is enough to keep their status. Also, the Big teams will continue to schedule with ND.

      ND is contractually obligated to join the ACC if they go the conference route.
