- Florida State scored another legal victory against the ACC in Leon County (FL) court on Tuesday. Judge John C. Cooper denied the ACC’s motion to dismiss FSU’s lawsuit. Florida State’s trustees are suing the conference in an effort to leave the ACC by breaking the grant of rights. This denied motion to dismiss means the case will continue to be heard in Florida while a separate case, with the ACC suing FSU, takes place in North Carolina. Whichever judge reaches a decision first could set the precedent for the other. The race continues!
Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs react to FSU’s court victory but caution we are likely closer to the beginning than to the end. We haven’t reached discovery yet. If only the ACC fought as hard in TV negotiations, Playoff negotiations, bowl negotiations, and tier 3 negotiations.
They don’t have the brands, if they didn’t push the grant of rights the conference is already gone!
@@timlamb1156, It did not help with Commissioner Swofford going against ESPN’s advice by making “RayCom Sports” part of the deal. Wake Forest, Boston College, etc. were simply too much dead weight. Before the Big XII reorganized there were voices calling for the ACC to go & reach down for Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, or others. Instead, the Jim Phillips aka the ACC continued belief that the conference was fine. Behind scenes are other school’s supporting FSU fight to get out: UNC is top on that list of quietly supporting an exit. Personally, I think the amount to get out will be $250 million or less & that includes the exit fee. Miami & NC State will land in the P-3. I keep hearing there will be Power-3 conference. I’m not sure about the ACC being among the P-3.
I'm not a Miami fan so Alex Danno is not my favorite but at least he sticks to his gut answer the guy on the right keep switching up based on what comes next

Kenton you have been doing a redo of the comments you made on April 3rd regarding the chance of Clemson and FSU leaving the ACC by June 30th. You said there was no chance and the you were more sure of that than anything you had ever said. Still feeling that way???

Every time The Attorney General of The State of Florida brings a Case they will appear before the 2nd Judicial Circuit Judge. When The Florida Department of Law Enforcement aka FDLE files charges, their attorney’s will be brought before the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Practically every State Department or entity will land in 1 of the 20 Circuit Judge’s. Once a $$ figure is exceeded (the $ amount varies by each department & then sent to Leon County. There are a # of other things that land before the Leon County Circuit. **Once Judge Cooper makes a Judgement: It carry’s the Weight of the “Appellate Court Decision”. A Appeal to the “Florida Supreme Court” is the only place left to go & they may decide not to pick up any appeal. Alex, In Judge Cooper’s decision that Florida is where this case belongs, seldom was FSU mentioned without Miami not being mentioned too. 👍🏼
The judgement was from a Florida judge protecting a Florida asset, simple as that. if they have UL at 7-5 then you need to bet the farm, Kenton knows that UL has the best talent in the conference, and let's not forget that Coach Brohm personally packed up Penny Boones stuff and walked him off campus, plus some his homies too.
