    Tiki 2006 retirement: "The giants will never win a superbowl w/o me. Eli's leadership is a joke"
    2007: Giant superbowl champions

    Eli Manning: "Im glad to see Tiki is making a smooth transition to televsion"

      And consider the fact that he KILLED the SB Bound Giants 2004-2006.
      2004: Basically exterminated whatever success they had with Warner and the (Then) 5-1 Giants by Minimizing the passing attack. ended season with a nonfunctional Eli and a 6-10 record.
      2005: Kept the Giants from Passing THE football, so the Jake Delhomme Panthers took note, 23-0
      2006: Clashed with Coughlin, prevented the team from PASSING THE FOOTBALL, takes a 6-2 team to 8-8. Giants lose to the "left for dead" JEFF GARCIA LEAD EAGLES IN PHILLY because (brace yourself) manning WAS RESTRICTED FROM PASSING THE FOOTBALL. Eagles advance 23-20
      2007: Manning finally isn't restricted. Defeats the unbeatable patriots 17-14 in super bowl

    Barber was the real deal. It took him a while to get going, but once he did, he played like a Hall of Famer. His last three years, he cured the fumble thing and carried that team. Borderline Hall of Famer, and it's a shame it took him a while to develop. As a Giants fan, I loved the thrills he gave me, and I still do. He was such an exciting runner. I don't blame him for retiring, nor do I think the Giants necessarily played any better because he was gone. Maybe they would have won 2 out of the next three championships if he had stuck around. Maybe not. It's obviously unanswerable speculation, But he was in his prime and had the ability to dominate any game.
    That all said, He stupidly ran his mouth a few times, and he has made some poor decisions since retiring. But that doesn't diminish his on-field greatness.

      imo the greatest rb of ALL TIME after the age of 27.. His numbers back it up.. you could make a case for sanders but all around it isn't close... sanders brown and payton are in the mix but ALL the best all time that are ever talked about dont come close to tiki after 27.. or even including 27... when most greats start slowing down he just began.. had he fixed his fumble issues earlier who knows what would have been.

  • @ShortFingeredShreder
    @ShortFingeredShreder 7 років тому +86

    He was pretty good, but I wouldn't say he was great. He was an asshole, too. Right when he retired, all he did was talk shit about the Giants. Fortunately, they won the Super Bowl the next year without him, giving Strahan his well-deserved ring.

      personality aside he had a unique career.. an opposite.. far mor productive in the second half. who know what would have happened had he fixed his fumble issues earlier.
      But from age 27 on he is probably the greatest rb of all time.. on top of being one of amd sometimes maybe the best in those last 5 yrs.. other than one of those yrs he had 2000 plus total yards.. one was 15 yds short and one was 1700 total yards.
      In my boredom I compared him to all the all time greats and his numbers are insane compared to the greats... you could make arguments for various reasons for Barry and his pure running numbers.. payton because he played longer and brown.. but all around numbers it isn't close.
      And every other all time great that will pop in your head I can assure you their numbers after 27 and especially in their 30s were no where close to tiki or their own numbers 27 and before

  • @supermoneymagnet1
    @supermoneymagnet1 6 років тому +11

    Tiki Barber ran for almost 2,000 yards at the age of 31. THAT IS INSANE. Running backs prime is usually from ages 23-27 after that they are either backing up another RB or out of the league. THIS MAN WAS GETTING BETTER AS HE WAS GETTING OLDER. VERY UNDERRATED.

    When it comes to being in the Hall of Fame your of field antics should not dictate what you’ve done on the field for 10 years. Tiki Barber in his tenure with the Giants was our whole offensive attack period. Teams knew Tiki was going to get the ball whether we were running or passing and they still couldn’t stop him. I remember when they used to say that he wasn’t big enough and strong enough to carry a workload of being the feature back and he proved all his critics wrong. All I keep seeing is that he quit on the team and people lost respect for him and etc. that’s why he shouldn’t be in the HOF....bump all that Tiki has earned my respect as a player and as a player he deserves to be in the HOF period

    It's not about liking him. It's about his production. He should be there. Who cares if you don't like him. That's ridiculous. He should be in the hall of fame.

    The last run they show. Vs. Kansas City. I was there, he owned that whole stadium, nevermind just the game. The whole place "TI-KI...BAR-BER!!! Just like they showed earlier at another game. You can dislike the man but the player belongs in any place NFL football is celebrated. How many backs have 200+ yard games??? He has had a few. HOF.

    He needs a gold jacket. He’s 15th all time in scrimmage yards, 12th for Rb’s. He’s got more career yards than Randy Moss, Jim Brown, Tony Gonzalez, Eric Dickerson, Isaac Bruce, O.J. Simpson, Marvin Harrison, & Edgerrin James. He out gained all those guys, let that sink in.

    Jamal Lewis and Corey Dillon should be 1 and 2. Both rushed for over 10, 000 yards, have over 4.0 ypc average, both were pro bowlers and each won a super bowl ring. Jamal ran for 2,066 (more than Terrell and Barry) in 1 season and won OPOY.

    Tiki's departure was a disgrace in every way. He embarrassed himself, and he made it impossible for the fans to ever look at him favorably. He was a great player, but completely destroyed his chances for anyone to ever advocate for his induction to the hall. As a Giants' fan it actually hurts to admit that, because he was the central piece that made the team competitive during his day.

    Tiki had a three good seasons at the end of his career when he stopped putting the ball on the ground where he gained over 1500, 1800, and 1600 yards. Before that, he barly went over 1100 and scored 4-8 TD a season.
    A other have said, we could name 10 HBs alone who are better than Barber, let alone putting him at #3 of all players? Get out of here.
