    As a lifelong Giants fan I have mixed feelings about Tiki. He threw Coughlin and Eli under the bus after he left, but was the best RB the franchise ever had

    Tiki could run between the tackles, turn the corner and out run defenders with his break away speed, and had great hands catching the football. He had that run in which had he not retired prematurely, Tiki would have been a sure fire Hall of Famer. Tiki Barber was the best Giants RB that I’ve seen.

    I'm a Raiders fan, but I remember Tiki had elite vision. I did not remember though that he was tall like AP or McFadden, and he also had blazing speed like them too. Dude had the full package at RB, I don't know why people don't talk about him as much when talking about legendary RBs. He did fumble a lot though, but he was a beast.

      He ran a 4.5 40 he wasn't as fast as those guys. But his vision was elite and it allowed him to break a lot of big runs that you wouldn't expect from a guy with his speed.

      Tiki Barber and Fred Taylor are tied as the most underrated in my opinion. Both of them are top 10 backs all time, but for various reasons (early career health struggles, fumbles for Tiki, team obscurity for Fred) they aren’t considered even close to top 10. They were significantly better than plenty of HOF RBs. (Riggins, Bettis, Curtis Martin, Marcus Allen, etc)

  • @JamesPoli
    @JamesPoli 3 роки тому +2

    Barber was absolutely the best RB in Giants history. No doubt. It just sucks that things ended the way they did, but that is NY media. Should Barber have kept his mouth shut and not made the comments about Eli and Coughlin? No doubt. And I think he would be the first to admit it. But like a few people have mentioned downthread, it is impossible to discount his achievements as a player. His agility, dexterity, and speed coupled with his versatility as a receiver out of the backfield really are underestimated. If the Jints would have had ANY stability at linebacker they would have gone much farther in the playoffs in the seasons before they won the 2008 SB.
    Yes, Saquon is good, but he isn't Barber yet. I am also biased because Barber is my favorite NY Giant (OK, maybe along with Strahan or Snee).
    Barber belongs in the HOF

    If they knew he could be fulltime back rite outta gates, he'd be considered a all-time great. But his size had gmen thinking change of pace, 3rd down back, return man type, instead of fulltime bell cow. By the time he became hands down the guy, he'd been in the league a bit, and shared carries with a few guys, like Charles Way and Ron Dayne to name a couple.
    This guy was freaking insanely good

    • @43captrexkramer

    If he would have corrected how he carried the ball sooner and eliminated a lot of those fumbles I think he may be in the HOF. Sticking around one more season and winning the Super Bowl certainly would have helped too. He walked away from the game after his three most productive seasons, over 2K from scrimmage each time, three consecutive Pro Bowl selections and being named All-Pro once.

SB winning championships move on from that but underdogs can't afford bad calls. The holding was on the opposite side of the field long after the snap. Bad officiating or "bad" 🙄

      If it makes you feel any better, it wasn't what he said about Eli that lost me, it was what he said about Coughlin that did it. Even then half of the players you have listed are not exactly among the all time greats however, you made it sounded like Eli had a stacked team when it was far from the case. Giants in 2011 would never be competing for the playoffs before the first half of the season ends without Eli with how the defense was that time. No offense but you're an idiot and same goes to those who voted up your post when that 2011 season especially could have easily been just like 2003, never mind that the Giants defense after 2008 blew for the most part, especially 2014 and 2015.
