@@amethystempressreborn3867 He is one, if not the best military commander of Westeros. It's everywhere: show and books. This lad held storm's end for a year against the reach (literally the largest army of Westeros), destroyed the Iron Fleet, smashed Mance Rayder, took Dragonstone and is probably bound to take Winterfell as well (in the books). If you're talking about the Winterfell scene, he had no food, horses and half his men deserted after he burnt his daughter- victory was impossible.
women dont rule as a rule so, Sansa would only be propped up as a hostage to get the north to bend , whoever remains. or he'd take her to wife and create a unioin by blood to Winterfell to legitimize his claim through the children.
@@9822703 You're mistaken, I'm afraid. 'Women don't rule, as a rule'- that *is* largely true, however, the world of Westeros is often male-preference, but *not* male-only inheritance- it's why Jon would be in line before Viserys (had he lived) *&* Dany; as a deceased heir's children come before their siblings, regardless of gender- if fAegon were really Rhaegar's elder son (I don't believe he is), he would come before Jon & Dany, as would Rhaenys, had she lived. That's why the idea of a marriage alliance between Jon & Dany makes sense- like it 'theoretically' made sense for Mary of Scots, to marry Lord Darnley; they *both* had a claim to the thrones of Scotland & England, & the purpose of their marriage was to strengthen their claim jointly. We know why things went south with Mary & Darnley though... Sansa is Ned's eldest legitimate child- she comes before Bran & Rickon, in terms of inheritance, despite them being sons. Stannis does care about the law & customs; turning a High Lord's daughter into a hostage would be a gross violation & not wise. Stannis' daughter is his heir- & he's *still* married - I think it unlikely (but not entirely out-of-keeping with his character, tbh) that he'd be foolish enough to antagonise his hard-won Northern allies. However, this flaw might be what brings him down in the books.
@@OcarinaSapphr- never said women could not inherit or as you said it "male only inheritance", but women cannot rule until the males are dead or renounce their claims putting them in line of succession in the case of the iron throne. so maybe you interpreted what i said wrong, perhaps i worded it poorly, but as a rule women are not barred for life, they just can't rule until the dudes are gone, leaving them unchallenged in the line of succession. - it seems we are on the same page.
9822703 The thing is, I think you’re applying too much real-world history. The question of inheritance with the Iron Throne is decidedly more murky, on gender inheritance (due to the previous civil wars) - however, it *is* far clearer everywhere else in Westeros. It’s been established (at least in the books) that seniority comes *before* gender- in the North, for example, Alys Karstark, sister & daughter of the previous lords of Karhold, comes before her uncle/ great-uncle, whatever he was, that was trying to marry her to his son- in order to take power.
@@OcarinaSapphr- You didn’t read my response. I am referring to the line of succession of the iron throne, not everywhere else. Inheritance for the iron throne is male primogeniture. For the Iron throne, the rules have been both gender based and seniority based.
TheBattProductions the salt becomes I XD I mean you haven’t done any I said yet Also I think Jon might be ok Becuse stanus might send for him to consolidate the north not knowing about rickon unless the umberes tell him as soon as he takes winterfell . Got to say this guys idea is not bad My opinion is first thing is the hound dying for abandoning his post as Joffrey’s body guard . Secondly it changes a lot for others Sansa will not leave kingslanding maybe even be married off to a Tyrell or Tyrion poor san san
You forgot about Rickon because he would make EVERYONE in the North join Stannis as he is a Stark, he is still alive and most importantly he would follow Stannis.
I didn't forget Rickon, just didn't mention him again since I don't think it changed anything. If Sansa is doing it instead of Rickon, then meh not sure it means much.
TheBattProductions but more houses in the North and in other places like the Riverlands would join Stannis and Rickon would be handed over as he is currently next the protection of the Umbers
@@connor4435 Nobody is joining a dead man, stannis is a minor character who doesn't even have his own book chapters. It's not just D&D who hate stannis it's grrm too. You stannis Stan are going to find out the hard way LOL
Stannis CAN be diplomatic, even forgiving. He was reasonable with his parley with Renly, he forgave all the Lord's of the Storm Lands for siding with Renly, and he offered (essentially) a full pardon to Mance. He may be hard, but he's also a very fair man.
@@springa1930 Pretty much. its not Stannis' fault that Mance refused the chance for lands and titles. Mance was guilty of oathbreaking and high treason don't forget so yeah that was a hell of a fair deal.
Amithest Empress reborn Really? Books: Stannis tells Justin Massey to seat his daughter on the iron throne if he dies. Show: I am feeling chilly. Let's burn her. Book Stannis goes to the wall because davos convinced him that he should save the kingdom to win the throne. Show Stannis goes because Mel tells him to. Book stannis does not go begging to the Iron Bank. He defeat the wildlings with what he has. Then the iron bank come to him. Show stannis goes begging to the iron bank and needs davos to even convince them to give him some cash and they act like they do not even care.
I agree -- it's nice thinking about this great savior dying and being out of the way. Completely subverts the expectations. I'm really intrigued because I think Daenerys dies next season, but sadly Jon lives.
I mean he's gonna win it in the books for sure. For one, he can't piss off his army by listening to Melisandre and burning Shireen because neither of them are even with him at the moment (and because he doesn't even believe in Melisandre's religion he's an atheist who just finds her narrative useful and also because he's given orders that should he die, Shireen will be his lawful heir and that his army is to continue the fight in her name). Second, basically everybody on Ramsay's side is just looking for an opportunity to kill him and his dad and have pretty much said that they're going to. Wyman Manderly seems to have his own power play going on by sending Davos to find Rickon. And also because Ramsay, in the books, is kind of a little bitch. Like, the show makes him out to be this terrifying and capable villain but in the books, he's insane yeah sure, but he's actually kind of a dumbass. Like, he's not really good at anything apart from torturing people. He isn't that strong of a fighter and he has literally never won a battle in his life and now he's going up against literally the greatest living military commander on the fucking planet.
@@Sakraida82 Richard III inspired Stannis Baratheon and Henry VII inspired Daenerys Targaryen. If we got this version of The Battle of Winterfell on the show, then Stannis would've become King at the end of Season 6 instead of Jon/Cersei and we'd get Stannis vs. Daenerys in Season 7 and if Daenerys were to triumph at the end of the season, it would be like The War of The Roses, the endgame of the show plays out like the history it inspired. It also would've been interesting because both characters would've been built up as likable characters and when the fighting starts between the two, we would be rooting for both sides which would make the conflict very suspenseful and tense. That's the thesis of Game of Thrones, it's not good vs. bad, it's characters we like and characters we don't like vs. characters we like and don't like.
I have to say that no character in game of thrones annoyed me more than the high sparrow. so getting to watch Stannis the Mannis and his men fight their way into kings landing and just annihilating the high sparrow and all his little sparrows would of gave me so much joy
Nexis 1 but what if .....plot twist stannis is the prince that was promised, gets ressurected, kills the night king, kills cersei and daenerys and bam he's on the iron throne ruling like a boss....... but also heavily depressed because he's responsible for the death of his wife and daughter (bittersweet ending)
@@scarecrow99999 Nah, because stannis is already died , he died 3 and a half years ago and the actor who plays stannis looks very different these day. Stannis fans need to let him go and stop blaming D&D for the way it turned out on the show. Are you stannis fans going to be bitter toward GRRM too if the books go the same way ?
Nexis 1 im not a bitter fan i just thought it would be cool. My favourite character throughout game of thrones has easily been The Hound so when or if The Hound dies in the show then i'll be bitter
Well I think that Stannis would have found a way to defeat the dragons because even that madgirl Cersei wounded the dragon with only one scorpion I think Stannis would have mass produced ballista for at least defence of the capital and he could have easily defeated the Dothraki as he had veteran troops, he was military genius, he wouldnt give up even if he was defeated in the field by them because he is stubborn, he would always had the option to retreat to the castles and walled cities and just starve them because if they start pillaging the countryside they would loose any little support they have Dothraki are just undisciplined savages, they are predictable in battle, lack armor, lack siege equipment, foot soliders and most importantly they are seen as foreign invaders. If we compare them with Mongols they are lacking in every single thing I just said and even the Mongols only managed to rule conquered people because they exterminated the population which I think Danny would never allow and even then Mongol Empire didnt last that long. If we compare Danny with Aegon the Conqueror she is in so different position to him because he had Valiriyan army, secure base of operations (Dragonstone) in Westeros, element of surprise and many kindoms and hatted king Harren. And now lets be honest its STANNIS THE MANNIS we are talking about! ITS HIS DUTY!
Technically, even if they met in an open field at this point Stannis would have a better hand (excluding the dragons, of course). Between all the armies of Westerns, the Unsullied would eventually get downed. And in a fight between the Dothraki and the Knights of the Vale (plus other nights) I'd put the Knights over them because they have armor; fights would devolve into that scene from S1 where Jorah bodies a Dothraki warrior because they can't pierce his armor. That leaves the dragons as the ace in the hole for Dany, and as you've pointed out, Stannis likely would've mass produced the ballista, at least to the extent that Drogon (with Dany in tow) would get shot down. That said, that leaves him in a difficult position for the Long Night. Without dragons, they're at a serious disadvantage. However, at this point I think Melisandre (and perhaps some other red priests) would show their worth. The end result would be a pyrrhic victory, or close to it, with the Mannis winning the day.
If they escaped with Kevan Lannister the Tyrells will be an enemy of Cersei along with Kevan who will try to unite the westerlands against Cersei and Randyll would think twice about betraying the tyrells now when they still have heirs and Kevan Lannister would testify against Cersei , she would join up with Danaerys because the tyrells were always allies with the Targaryens now the tyrells have 80,000 plus men and half of the Lannister forces (thanks to Kevan) so Cersei would think twice about attacking Highgarden and that is an addition to the army of the living , there would be no shortage of food for the north or danaerys seeing as the Tyrells still have their food and gold. With the plot armor in season 8, lets say Kevan and Loras would die but Olenna and Margaery survive along with lets say a quarter of their army intact which makes the sack of kings landing easier. Margaery will become lady Paramount of Highgarden, maybe even marry Bronn or Robin. I probably sucked at explaining and there may be lot of things wrong with it but this is my answer to you sorry if it was really long.
Nothing would have changed. Rickon would be Lord of Winterfell like Bran was in Season 2 but Sansa would be doing everything. Jon would still be King in the North.
GGX TriHard Rickon’s claim would be much stronger than Jon’s claim and the only reason he was even crowned was because there was no male Stark heirs alive that anyone knew about.
No one would crown Rickon as King in the North. The North know that Jon won the Battle of the Bastards. Jon was crowned because he was the one who avenged the Starks. Rickon would likely give his claim to Jon's anyway. There is no way Rickon would accept being King in the North for doing absolutely nothing.
Jon would never accept the crown and steal his brother's birthright if he was still alive. The northern lords would never accept a bastard when there is a legitimate son of Ned Stark. Every Northern lord would rally to Rickon Stark, in the books Manderly is planning his whole Northern Conspiracy around Rickon being alive. Regardless of that there have been plenty of times where kings were crowned for doing nothing but being of the right bloodline.
Roleplayer 1988 The Battle of Ice is inspired by the real-world Battle on the Ice from the 13th century where the Slavs defeated a much larger and better armed German force by luring them onto an ice lake, causing a large portion of the German force to fall through the ice. In ASOIAF it's Stannis who's laying the trap.
Roleplayer 1988 How is he losing? Many northern lords support him including Glover, Mormont, Hornwood, Flint, Wull, Norrey , Manderly. Even the iron bank supports him. The blizzard saves his army from destruction as it slows him enough to receive warning of the Karstark betrayal. He has got 'Arya' and theon.
I think Stannis will lose in the books as well. They got past the books in the show sure, but that was right after they got past. Surely GRRM would have known the outcome of the battle and so D&D would too. I think what's going to happen is Stannis will lose but weaken the Boltons to the point where resurrected Jon Snow with his Wildling army, Rickon with an army from Skagos and Wyman Manderly working as a spy unite to defeat Ramsay. I reckon Stannis will manage to kill Roose.
You do not understand. Rhaegar does not attack Robert at the trident. He gathers everyone in King's Landing then moves to Dragonstone. Which leaves Robert 100 miles away. So when will Robert be able to go to Dragonstone? He won't! He would head to King's Landing. With Rhaegar abandoning his Mad Father that would make King's Landing vulnerable.
i feel as though Dany would make an amazing villian. think about it, she has spent years in war and has three massive fire breathing dragons. the realm is more or less united under stannis then this eastern invader arrives kind of like in the show to change the game again. the mad king's duaghter killing the man who avenged the starks and the red wedding. its perfect and would make dany a better character imo. it would be better if dany didnt realise she was a villian until she accidently blows up kings landing by burning the wildfire beanth the red keep
I see her as the villain. Like communists she claims to do it to free the people and break what was, but let's look at this way: Would the roasted Lannisters soldiers see her as a villain? What about the executed Tarlys? What about all now under threat from her dragons and armies? Has she released a terrifying army of foreign savages upon Westeros? Does she threaten to kill people all the time? Does she have a shred of honour? Historically, who does she copy? With her communist ideas (with her on top of course) and foreign army there to conquer she is doubly comparable to the Soviets invading Europe. They too used Asian troops and were notorious rapists. An even weirder parallel to communism, mass executing the masters meant she exterminated the upper class. Those that just happened to be literate, educated, connected, trained to lead, and economically powerful in that society. The Khmer Rouge did the exact same thing. They removed all opponents, the literate and the upper classes just like the masters, with mass executions. What did it leave leftover? Unemployed and her loyal slave soldiers. Just like communism post revolution. You are one of the communist lackeys, her soldier, or one the many suffering common people. Really similar to a communist despot, acting the same way as multiple murderous communist regimes, the truth is plain. She is the villain. From multiple angles she is the villain.
@@The_Custos holy shit what an essay. Good point tho a part of me wants her to become a villian. Thinking of a dragon rider with a host of "barbarians" gives me magical ghengis khan vibes but I doubt that's what the show will do. The books maybe
Danys already a great character, the reason why D&D killed stannis off is because he a load of crap. I expect grrm to do the same to Stannis , such a poorly written Character should rightly go in the dustbin of history
12:43 Don’t forget Alliser Thorne *did* hate the Starks because of Robert’s rebellion and his love for Rhaegar. In fact, Thorne hated Jon because he was Ned Stark’s bastard and Ned overthrew Rhaegar
Jaime dosent need to claim the throne instead of Tywin because Tywin could have just claimed it himself. He was in the city but I think that wouldnt happen because he was a late joiner in the war so if he did that he would anger pretty much everybody.
Votka Berserker still jamie was given the offer, and he was the hand of the mad king, and did an amazing job, combined with his reputation, he may have been welcomed instead of hated... even as a late joiner...
You would have 3 masterless&angry dragons flying around&burning stuff until somebody finally manages to take them down, also a bunch of a dothraki savages devastating surrounding lands without any leadership
The plan was pretty stupid. The whole idea of the plan was to avoid killing innocents in King's Landing and defeat Cersei on her own terms. But all they needed to do was to have Dany fly up to the Red Keep with all three dragons and have Cersei submit or die.
I cant believe you havent done this one! Its been some time since you last did one! -What if Ramsay hadnt killed Roose Bolton? -What if Theon hadnt left Winterfell? -What if the slavers of Essos and the Sons of the Harpies had defeated Daenerys and her army whilst they were still in Essos? -What if Jon Snow hadnt been resurrected? -What if Renly sided with Stannis? -What if Mance Rayder in the TV show was like the Mance Rayder of the books? (A bard, fakes his death with the face of Rattlebones, goes on a mission to rescue 'Arya Stark' etc) -What if Jamie killed Cercei at an early time in the show? -What if Locke was like the book version (Vargo Hoat, not neccessarily aligned with the Boltons, more of a mercenary group) and what if the Brave Companions had several members not in the show e.g. Zollo the Fat? What would the removed characters be like? -What if the Golden Company was hired by Cercei or another monarch much earlier? -What if Daenerys conquered Essos early and got ready to visit Westeros much earlier, visiting north of the wall much earlier hence allowing the Night King to break the wall and go through much earlier? -What if Sansa married Robin Arryn?
Golden company descendants of the black fire targaiigans. So when they find out Jon Snow is really a targarigan I believe they would follow him on the promised of their retire to westerwors, and as Jamie says to Broom their will be loads of castles when its all over to choice from.
what if renly sided with ned along with loras. in the books catelyn said theon bragged about almost fighting jaime at whispering wood so what if he died instead of the karstark kid
Well not really i used some console magic and suddenly the north alone was capable of raising 853,900 men nearly a million man army i was basically best korea
Well theoretically they could've gone in the water and drown (like as a sacrifice just to put the chains on). I still think that works personally, but that's just me.
“A lot needs to happen” yeah just have the show make sense. In the books there’s an ultra complicated political situation in the North that means that Stannis will likely receive support from even more anti-Bolton northern houses than he already has in the books. I like how they only bring in other Northern houses in season 6 not with Stannis.
@@varunkaushik2732 the boltons aren't exactly good either. I think the north remembers stark rule and will probably go with stannis if he can get rickon under his thumb as the lord of winterfell
Than Jon would've stayed with Robb and when rebellion broke out, he would've tried to convince Robb to over throw Joffrey in favor of Viserys and/or Daenerys. Dany would then travel to Westeros and maybe get there at the end of Season 2 and those loyal to The Targaryens would join Dany and Robb in numbers.
Robb would never want to leave Kings landing so the imprisonment of Tyrion wouldn't happen, meaning no riverland war for now cersei would still kill Bobby B and Ned would not have the city watch and littlefinger's "support" because Catelyn wasn't there Ned being an honorable man would show up with the paper and well he would get arrested along with Robb meaning Catelyn would have to command the army which is hopeless, she will strike but she will win some battles as far as the twins but the Boltons will betray them eventually with promise as warden of the North from Tywin But on the bright side Theon never goes to the iron islands meaning he doesn't kill the farm boys or Rodrik. Thats my 2 cents it's probably flawed but I tried.
If Stannis wins I think Littlefinger would use the vale army against Stannis. There is no way Stannis will allow Baelish to live, and Baelish wants Sansa in the long term. So he's either attack Stannis directly or backstab him in some way.
Well... If Littlefinger does the first thing then he's fucked. He has no Military experience and is about to face the greatest Military Commander in all of Westeros, with his men being Hardened Sellswords and Knights who still remember Blackwater and him holding one of the Best Fortresses in Westeros. Now not to say that Valemen are bad soldiers. They are one of the best actually, but lets be honest here, Most of them haven't seen real fighting since Robert's Rebellion. Not to mention that they don't really love Littlefinger and if he tries to lead them on a suicide attack against the man who by right is their king, there might be a mutiny. On the second case, I don't believe that Stannis would be easily fooled by Baelish. He knows what he is, Served with him for many years, and has his suspicions and reports on him. As a matter of fact Stannis might just execute him head on as he intends to clean the court of Abominations.
Stannis would not let Littlefinger pass moat Caitlin. And the Knights of the vale would support The brother of their former King as high as honor remember? He also avenged the death of Catelyn stark and Robb. The family of Ned whom Lord Royce admired
The Umbers had Rickon, if you assume they switch to Stannis then you would also have to assume that a condition of their loyalty would be to make Rickon Stark the Warden of the North. Remember they didn't bring him to Ramsey until Jon marched on Winterfell and Roose was dead by Ramsey's hand. I'd bet his direwolf would still be alive as well, they where keeping him as a bargaining chip, theres no way they would have harmed him or the things he came with until they knew where they stood.
I think if Stannis learned of Gendry and that he was his nephew, he could legitimize him as his heir, and Melisandre could somehow spin something to Daenyris. Something along the lines of re-uniting the House Baratheon and House Targaryen in the long-term as a way of avoiding bloodshed and still preventing the Long Night.
if cersei can kill 2 dragons, why stannis can`t kill all of them. He`s one of the best and the most experienced battle commander in Westeros, so his victory is possible at more than 50 percent.
The only thing I would change would be what happens to Winterfell because the Umbers would bring Rickon back there & that would place him as the Lord of Winterfell & Warden of the North which changes the power dynamic
Some underrated what ifs: 1. What if theon listens to luwin and escapes winterfell for the wall 2. What if the hound doesnt see arya after the brotherhood capture him 3. What if brienne listened to Jaime and killed the man who saw her and Jaime travelling to Kings Landing who eventually told Locke
The only reason the mutiny against Jon even happened was earlier that day the Night's Watch found out about Stannis' death, thus he couldn't protect Jon anymore. He couldn't retaliate if they killed him, so they did. It's not like it was destined to happen; Stannis was his protection.
I have a few things to add just for debate (not criticism) 1. Jon’s body could have easily been preserved in the cold climate and the wildlings still would have taken the wall. 2. In the event Jon didn’t return Rickon could have been made the warden of the north. 3.The Tyrells would most likely have left Kings Landing and have joined Dany not Stannis. I enjoyed the video and thanks
The moment Melisandre tells them to burn the weirwood trees, the North will never support Stannis. Sansa would also probably tell Stannis to f*** off since she's been used by everyone else. Some of the northern lords didn't seem to care about her anyway. The Gloves didn't and the Mormonts didn't. They all chose Jon over her. No one in Westeros wanted Stannis on the throne, even over the Lannisters, and the Stormlands only joined him because Renly was dead. Most of it was because of his new god that involved burning people alive, not to mention people defend their religion viciously. Another reason was because he wasn't good at making friends and was too regid about rules. The Tyrells, Dorne and the Iron Islands would still have joined Daenerys. The Tyrells became Stannis would have punished them and because of Cersei, the Martells because they are loyal to the Targaryens and the Iron Islands because Yara and Theon wanted to keep Euron from getting her. Between her Unsullied, Dothraki, her allies and dragons, Stannis wouldn't be keeping the throne for long. Euron certainly wouldn't join him since he wants the throne for himself and Daenerys would have the larger army, plus dragons. With Jon, how sure are we that Melisandre was actually the one to bring him back? Nothing happened until his body was alone with Ghost and the Starks's fates seemed to be tied to their direwolves. It could be a magic thing that Jon can't stay dead as long as Ghost lives. Jon is truly alive, unlike Beric, as he does eat, sleep, breathe and his heart does beat. Beric does none of that.
Yeah? What do you mean? (I am asking because I changed a few things in this video and wanted to know what you like so I can possibly repeat them!) Thanks for the comment friend
Bull crap if that kid had channeled his sadness into anger he could have just pulled the king card and gotten his mother executed and while he might not be Robert's kid by birth I he is Robert's kid by literally every other means you can't tell me that he wouldn't throw his weight around if he was angry
@@hoiman2356 I don't know man if you crush the Greyjoy Navy then nobody can go grab the golden company for Cersei or at the very least it would take longer and also Daenerys would still have hers and with Euron gead the remaining Greyjoy navy would follow the next one in line or there would be another kingsmoot one of the two.
Like I said, we have no idea what the Golden Company will do and where his story leads. So no point answering this now. Also Dany's fleet would still be destroyed.
What if Robb had made another deal with Walder frey like his Edmure marrying one of his daughter? He would be free of oath with frey he could also form a alliance with tyrells by marrying margaery . Things would have changed a lot
Well if Stannis knows about Jon's murder it is likely the Red priestess would go there if nothing else then Sansa would demand it. Plus the North/First Men will never abandon their religion. Also how do we know the Red priestess even ressurected Jon? It didn't seem to work at all and then he suddenly woke up. Lannister exterminated? Oh what a great tragedy that would be... *WINK*
Or maybe Melisandre somehow hears about Jon’s death with her magical powers of fire and then she returns to the wall to revive him then he’s named Jon Stark and warden of the north. I could see that as being a real possibility.
@@fearthepiggaming2998 Unlikely- Cersei is monstrous; she hated other females from the time of her childhood (she always thought everyone was trying to 'come between her & Jaime' [this scenario actually benefits *Jaime* as much as Tyrion, because with the enforced distance from the toxic Cersei- had it been made to stick, maybe Jaime wouldn't be the d*ck we meet in Books 1-3]). She still likely gets the prophecy from Maggy (which means she still kills poor Melara)- & she's really just up sh*t's ditch with her mother surviving, because *she* was keeping her & Jaime apart after she'd caught them 'playing' sometime around her pregnancy with Tyrion. Cersei had every reason to be secretly grateful her mother died- yes, she hates Tyrion, but as much as a prophetic figure of *danger* to her, as an ugly dwarf. I doubt she really hates him for 'killing' Joanna- part of her might think she *has* to, like she can't address the relief child-her felt for her mother not surviving Tyrion's birth. On Tywin... he loves his wife, but he's a very proud man & in this pseudo-medieval world; misfortune, illness or deformity was often attributed to sins, or 'demons'- Aerys declared that Tywin's beautiful wife had been taken from him, & he was given a dwarf for a son, to 'teach him humility'- in the real world, pride's a great sin- & the Lannisters do refer to themselves as 'proud lions', so maybe there's a correlation. I think a surviving Joanna might have mitigated the cruelty - Tyrion's favourite uncle, Gerion was kind to him- as was Jaime, but that didn't mitigate any of the other cruelty, so... I think Joanna's greatest impact would have been if she had seen Tyrion's wit & intelligence from an early age, & helped Tywin see it, rather than his just dismissing it as, 'low cunning'- & actually given him positive reinforcement. On the flip side, we all just *assume* Joanna would love him, no matter what- 'because he's a Lannister' or because he's her son - how much worse would things be if she survived, & hated him?
if stannis won, the show would be better btw no i think stannis would keep theon alive as a bargaining chip against euron because theon has a greater claim to the iron islands and many in the kingsmoot may still support him. also it will keep yara/asha in line since its her brother who is in captivity. make family matter again goddamnit i think season 6 and 7 forgot about these kind of things
I personally don't think that Daenerys would've been able to defeat Stannis if he took the Iron Throne, and I think my reasoning is quite simple, Season 7 showed us that Daenerys' dragons are far from invincible. A single ballista shot, fired by a sellsword, almost succeded in killing Drogon, her largest and most powerful dragon. Given ample warning, Stannis would've installed dozens, if not hundreds of these around King's Landing and Storm's End, and manned them with his best marksmen. He also would've filled his army with a bunch of mobile versions as seen in the show. If Daenerys' dragons flew within a mile of Stannis' army, or a stronghold held by Stannis, they would be shot down and killed instantly. Without her dragons, Stannis' military expertise would quickly see the destruction of her entire army and, well, most likely Daenerys herself.
Thing is, show-dragons don't match up with book-dragons; yes, with enough firepower, relentlessly deployed, it *could* work, but the time to build & even transport them (& transport the materials), & people to man them in the numbers needed, would have to be taken into consideration (show never bothered with that, of course). The dragons of the books would need far more to be taken down than the show ones did; maybe, just maybe, I can buy Viserion's death- it's an ice-spear, maybe there's some 'magic' that cancels out dragon magic. However, Rhaegal's death I *do not* buy: for a start, dragonscale is said to be so strong in canon, that naturally shed scales were collected & made into armour- it's specifically said that *even* the underbelly, which most assume would be a weak spot (possibly from stories) is almost as hard as the upper scales, & they only get harder over time. The reason Meraxes was successfully killed in Dorne, was because it was hit in the eye; one of the few *genuinely* weak spots, but so small a target that chances of hitting it were infinitesimal, but that one in a million shot was all the Dornish needed. I will agree that the ballistas/ scorpions *could* work, on the walls of the city... but on moving ships, with the kind of torsion-power they would need? Hell no.
@@OcarinaSapphr- I am aware how the dragons work in the books, and how ridiculous Rhaegal's death was. I wrote my comment before Season 8 even came out. That being said, Meraxes was at least a century old during Aegon's attempted conquest of Dorne. Daenerys' dragons weren't that old, barely 6 or 7 years of age. I think it's reasonable to assume dragonscales on young dragons aren't quite as 'hardened' as they would be on a century old dragon. As such, I'm not fully on board with this narrative that Qyburn's scorpions shouldn't of been able a serious threat to Dany's dragons.
Finally! What if Joffery was killed in the riots of Kings Landing? What if the Vale did join Rob Stark in the War of The Five Kings? What if Thoros made it back to Kings Landing and revived King Robert?
I just realize, Sansa hoped for Stannis to win in both battles. Kingslanding and in Winterfell. For him to save her (because she knew that he wouldn't harm her). And both times he lost. Like damn, both of them have really bad luck.
I always thought that the sellswords took the horses and joined the Boltons cause with that cavalry the Boltons essentially had the strongest army in Westeros there was so many of them..
The Manderleys and the Freys are at each other's throats. And they were both sent forth from Winterfell to do battle with Stannis. Lord Manderley told Davos that he's gonna betray the Boltons, and he has a sizable force. Stannis has a plan to defeat the cavalry force, he said he's gonna turn the ground to their Advantage, implying that he's gonna lure them onto the fished out lake full of holes and slaughter them. The main problem would be actually laying siege to the Castle after the battle of Ice.
In the books Stannis does the sane thing and leaves Shireen, Selyse, Melisandre I’m pretty sure and 50 guards at castle black. Pretty sure that’s how Jons getting revived via books.
@@TheBattProductions uff (trying to recall the theory) Because Snow didn't emediatly respond to Melisandres try and the whole theory bases of the fact that every person basically can use magic in a way or another. There was a video about the whole thing on YT 😊
Haha -- I wouldn't bet on it. As far as we're aware, what brings people back from the dead is to "say the words" (as Thoros says) over a body. Since Melisandre is the one that did that, I don't see how she doesn't get the full credit.
@@amethystempressreborn3867 "We all know what my brother would do. Question what if stannis wasn't such a dumb and incompetent leader and battle Commander ? .
@@amethystempressreborn3867 what if you understood stannis' character?
@@amethystempressreborn3867 He is one, if not the best military commander of Westeros. It's everywhere: show and books. This lad held storm's end for a year against the reach (literally the largest army of Westeros), destroyed the Iron Fleet, smashed Mance Rayder, took Dragonstone and is probably bound to take Winterfell as well (in the books). If you're talking about the Winterfell scene, he had no food, horses and half his men deserted after he burnt his daughter- victory was impossible.
What if tyrells had an alliance with the starks after renly's death and married Margaery to robb and persuading Robb to get the iron throne
Shubhankar Kulkarni why , the starks don t want the throne , and the tyrell s want to rule all the seven kindgoms
marcos targaryen maybe somehow the tyrells convince Robb to take up the throne for Margaery's sake
I love it, but Robb was too fucking honorable and stupid. He would never refuse Stannis the throne
Long title but that would be hella interesting
Tyrell still has other options like wait for the whole thing to develop until Dany arrived to westeros
If Stannis took Winterfell and then put Sansa up as Lady of Winterfell then the Umbers would bring Rickon to them immediately.
women dont rule as a rule so, Sansa would only be propped up as a hostage to get the north to bend , whoever remains. or he'd take her to wife and create a unioin by blood to Winterfell to legitimize his claim through the children.
@@9822703
You're mistaken, I'm afraid.
9822703
The thing is, I think you’re applying too much real-world history.

Book Stannis goes to the wall because davos convinced him that he should save the kingdom to win the throne.
Show Stannis goes because Mel tells him to.
Book stannis does not go begging to the Iron Bank. He defeat the wildlings with what he has. Then the iron bank come to him.

Thanks! Great video!
The idea of Jon "cliche chosen one" Snow actually staying dead is a great one.
I agree -- it's nice thinking about this great savior dying and being out of the way. Completely subverts the expectations. I'm really intrigued because I think Daenerys dies next season, but sadly Jon lives.
No that would be horrible . He will come back just watch
How good would it be if Wight Jon Snow defeated the Night King?
Richard III
No he’s not lol

The end result would be a pyrrhic victory, or close to it, with the Mannis winning the day.
well, now that we saw season 8 it doesn't matter. Whatever the plot demands happens.
He could use a demon baby to kill Daenerys
what if the tyrells escaped from the sept before it blew up?
What if instead of Bran being pushed Jamie and Cersei's affair is exposed in Winterfell to Robert
Gg Lannisters.
What if Jon Snow saved Rickon before Ramsay killed him?
GOod one my friend!
I will wait for the next book cos Im pretty sure Stannis will win battle of Ice & Winterfell.
Nah he is losing just like he did on the show, stannis will become an even bigger loser in the books
Roleplayer 1988 no
Roleplayer 1988 The Battle of Ice is inspired by the real-world Battle on the Ice from the 13th century where the Slavs defeated a much larger and better armed German force by luring them onto an ice lake, causing a large portion of the German force to fall through the ice.
What if Elia Martell and Rhaenys Targaryen survived the sacking of kings landing
Or if the mad king had let elia leave KL with her children
Well Robert's Rebellion would still succeed. All the Targs would be on Dragonstone. Robert might let Rhaegar and Family leave for Essos.
yeah Robert would definetly let Rhaegar escape when he thinks rhaegar kidnapped and raped lyanna stark?
You do not understand. Rhaegar does not attack Robert at the trident. He gathers everyone in King's Landing then moves to Dragonstone. Which leaves Robert 100 miles away. So when will Robert be able to go to Dragonstone? He won't! He would head to King's Landing. With Rhaegar abandoning his Mad Father that would make King's Landing vulnerable.
meybe he dont go to dragonstone but you srsly believe he would let them just live? without sending even one assassin after them?
i feel as though Dany would make an amazing villian. think about it, she has spent years in war and has three massive fire breathing dragons. the realm is more or less united under stannis then this eastern invader arrives kind of like in the show to change the game again. the mad king's duaghter killing the man who avenged the starks and the red wedding. its perfect and would make dany a better character imo. it would be better if dany didnt realise she was a villian until she accidently blows up kings landing by burning the wildfire beanth the red keep
Some people already think she IS the villain of the series.
I call those people "silly".
I see her as the villain. Like communists she claims to do it to free the people and break what was, but let's look at this way:
Would the roasted Lannisters soldiers see her as a villain?

Jaime dosent need to claim the throne instead of Tywin because Tywin could have just claimed it himself. He was in the city but I think that wouldnt happen because he was a late joiner in the war so if he did that he would anger pretty much everybody.

I just was really curious if you could blob stupidly large armies like you can in vanilla by 1400
What is CK2
They can't do water, but they can take heavy chains under water to retrieve a dead dragon's body... oops!
Well theoretically they could've gone in the water and drown (like as a sacrifice just to put the chains on). I still think that works personally, but that's just me.
You ever watch Pirates of the Carribean?
“A lot needs to happen” yeah just have the show make sense. In the books there’s an ultra complicated political situation in the North that means that Stannis will likely receive support from even more anti-Bolton northern houses than he already has in the books. I like how they only bring in other Northern houses in season 6 not with Stannis.
Maybe the north do not like the lord of light that much.
@@varunkaushik2732 the boltons aren't exactly good either. I think the north remembers stark rule and will probably go with stannis if he can get rickon under his thumb as the lord of winterfell
What if Jon Snow knew about his identity (as Aegon Targaryen) from birth/young age and what if Daenerys Targaryen/Viserys knew about Jon
I dont now if you remember me but will you do someday
What if daenerys have listed to yara and olenna and attack king landing ?
I remember you broski! I pinned your comment to the top of my Daenerys vid!
Good suggestion bud
Do what if lyanna is never kidnapped or Robert’s rebellion never happened
@@mikecastro122 Mad King burns down the countryside and Rhaegar has to fix everything before The White Walkers show up.
Here is an interesting what if : what if Robb Stark went to kings landing in season 1 instead of Catelyn, to tell Lord Stark that Bran was pushed.
I was thinking that too.
Probably he would do the latter.
The family of Ned whom Lord Royce admired
i'm honestly so glad to see this being made. I remember asking on twitter and have been looking forward to it ever since
Sorry for the delay, BUT I eventually get to the ideas :)
What if Ned Stark didnt cut the head off the desserting nights watch soldier, and actually believed in him about the white walkers?
Or goes north to check.
I’ve missed good ole game of thrones what if’s
Stannis was fighting against a bunch of plot armor in his Defence. Not one person believed he was taking kings landing during his blackwaywr bay siege
Fair point!
Did she actually bring Jon back? Some think it was Davos!
Haha -- that's a ridiculous theory. It's clearly Melisandre based on all we know.
Theon would have been ritually sacrificed for blood magic if Stannis knew
What if princess Marcella was actually married to Robin Arin of the Vale as Tyrion suggested to Littlefinger.
I would feel bad for her
What if Jon killed Ygritte in Season 2 Episode 6...? 😱
Some underrated what ifs: 1. What if theon listens to luwin and escapes winterfell for the wall
2. What if the hound doesnt see arya after the brotherhood capture him
3. What if brienne listened to Jaime and killed the man who saw her and Jaime travelling to Kings Landing who eventually told Locke
Jaime doesn't lose a hand stays a bad person probably killing Brienne and remaining best swordsman in the seven kingdoms.
I've always thought about the first one. I'm guessing the conversation between him and Jon Snow would be verryyy awkward.
The only reason the mutiny against Jon even happened was earlier that day the Night's Watch found out about Stannis' death, thus he couldn't protect Jon anymore. He couldn't retaliate if they killed him, so they did. It's not like it was destined to happen; Stannis was his protection.
Stannis will win the battle of Ice and Winterfell in the books
Yeah the people with no army whom were just saves and had their former lords avenged would totally not bend the knee...then they'd die
Love the new format
Yeah? What do you mean?
(I am asking because I changed a few things in this video and wanted to know what you like so I can possibly repeat them!)

What if tommen doesnt die
Nothing changes.
Bull crap if that kid had channeled his sadness into anger he could have just pulled the king card and gotten his mother executed and while he might not be Robert's kid by birth I he is Robert's kid by literally every other means you can't tell me that he wouldn't throw his weight around if he was angry
No, that would not happen. Tommen would never kill his own mother. He would most likely go into depression and starve himself to death.
I am dying to know what would happen. and the most important thing I want to know what if Tommen gets angry over the mountain when he blocks his way
probably he would send her to prison
Stannis won the battle of Winterfell, that episode was just a bad dream.
What if Yara and the SandSnakes Defeat Euron In S7E2?
Nothing would really change because we still don't know how much of an impact Euron will have on the story.
GGX TriHard that’s true.
GGX TriHard I’ll save this for after Season 8 Lol.
What if the Mad King's plan to use wildfire during Robert's Rebellion came to pass?
What if... he burned them all?
What if Robb had made another deal with Walder frey like his Edmure marrying one of his daughter? He would be free of oath with frey he could also form a alliance with tyrells by marrying margaery . Things would have changed a lot
Walder wanted one of his daughters to be queen. It had to be Robb. He should've just married the girl.
*WINK*
What if the Tyrells fought with Stannis at the Blackwater bay
Or maybe Melisandre somehow hears about Jon’s death with her magical powers of fire and then she returns to the wall to revive him then he’s named Jon Stark and warden of the north. I could see that as being a real possibility.
What if the Tyrells had allied with Robb after Renly’s death?
What if Joanna Lannister had survived Tyrion’s birth?
Cersei and Tywin would have been a lot less mean to him and Tyrion would have actually had a positive influence around AKA his mother
@@fearthepiggaming2998
Unlikely- Cersei is monstrous; she hated other females from the time of her childhood (she always thought everyone was trying to 'come between her & Jaime' [this scenario actually benefits *Jaime* as much as Tyrion, because with the enforced distance from the toxic Cersei- had it been made to stick, maybe Jaime wouldn't be the d*ck we meet in Books 1-3]).
22:20 since you are going off books why not her other "nephew" fAegon
Rickon would be the heir cause the Umbers gave him to Ramsey after Stannis dies and they hate wildlings
The Tyrells would be fine with alliance with Stannis as they could get Wyllis or Garland or Loras married to Shirreen when she comes of age.
What if Robert died from his wounds at the battle of the trident and Ned put Stannis on the throne to begin with?
All of the corruption in the realm would cease to exist.
if stannis won, the show would be better
btw no i think stannis would keep theon alive as a bargaining chip against euron because theon has a greater claim to the iron islands and many in the kingsmoot may still support him. also it will keep yara/asha in line since its her brother who is in captivity. make family matter again goddamnit i think season 6 and 7 forgot about these kind of things
Hell no.
@@OcarinaSapphr-
I am aware how the dragons work in the books, and how ridiculous Rhaegal's death was.
How can you blow Lyanna Mormont of like that if she had had 3 Dragons the story would of finished 5 seasons ago
I just realize, Sansa hoped for Stannis to win in both battles. Kingslanding and in Winterfell. For him to save her (because she knew that he wouldn't harm her). And both times he lost. Like damn, both of them have really bad luck.
What if Daemeon Blackfire won his rebellion?
I always thought that the sellswords took the horses and joined the Boltons cause with that cavalry the Boltons essentially had the strongest army in Westeros there was so many of them..
Stannis will defeat the Freys in the Battle of Ice. The Manderleys will betray the Boltons
I have MUCH more hope for book Stannis than how the show did him.
Nah stannis will lose just like in the show, Ramsey Ramsey
The Manderleys and the Freys are at each other's throats. And they were both sent forth from Winterfell to do battle with Stannis. Lord Manderley told Davos that he's gonna betray the Boltons, and he has a sizable force. Stannis has a plan to defeat the cavalry force, he said he's gonna turn the ground to their Advantage, implying that he's gonna lure them onto the fished out lake full of holes and slaughter them. The main problem would be actually laying siege to the Castle after the battle of Ice.
Just look up "ASOIAF battle of ice" here on YT for a more detailed analysis. It's a 3 part series.
In the books Stannis does the sane thing and leaves Shireen, Selyse, Melisandre I’m pretty sure and 50 guards at castle black. Pretty sure that’s how Jons getting revived via books.
What if Davos did not convince Stannis to march to The Wall...?

Haha -- I wouldn't bet on it. As far as we're aware, what brings people back from the dead is to "say the words" (as Thoros says) over a body. Since Melisandre is the one that did that, I don't see how she doesn't get the full credit.
