USELESS VIDEO
WHY WOULD FISH THE WIRE TO LEFT REVERSE LIGHT WHEN IT COULD BE DONE ON THE RIGHT SIDE
AND WHY WOULD SOLDER WIRES PASSED THE RUBBER GARMENT THE BACK SIDE OF TAILLIGHTS ARE NOT WATERPROOF
AND WHY WOULD RUN THE WIRE UNDER THE GAS PEDAL? AND LAST
WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOW VIDEO FEED INSTEAD OF "NO VIDEO SIGNAL" ?
YOU TRYING TO SHOW EVERYONE YOUR A LAZY FAILURE?
Provo, this video was very helpful to me. The top three things in it that were useful to me: (1) tapping the green wire with black stripe (love the specificity so I didn't need to guess!) to tell the head unit that the car was in reverse, (2) that the rear hatch panel could be unsnapped from its frame after removing a single screw, (3) the suggestion to use the auxiliary power outlet to supply juice to the camera. One thing I discovered that wasn't mentioned here is that the rear seats are can be leaned forward and perhaps even removed to ease of running the video cable in the door sills without removing the sills or carpet. I started my work at the head unit and I ran the video cable on the driver side to the back of the CRV because I found it easier to fish the video cable from the head unit into the driver's foot-well rather than trying to get the cable fished into the front passenger foot-well.
WHY CONNECT IT TO THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT WHEN THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT WAS MUCH CLOSER FEEDING IT THROUGH PASSENGER SIDE
Use posilock wire taps. Easiest and extremely well made design. They also are reusable, or if you mess up can be removed and used again. I use posilock connectors on everything.
Link for those connectors?
You know there a light on the other side that has all that and is closer. Would mean running less wire which is always a good thing
He had to extend the main power anyway to tap into the socket on the left
@@zahari_s_stoyanovHe could’ve used the black power wire on the reverse light bulb🤷🏻♂️ as power that what I did but all on the right side
@@alexanderpapii4866 these systems require two power sources - one constant and one when the car is running. So the constant one is in the socket on the left
I'm completely a newb. do you have links or types of wires you used to extend the trigger wire and accessory power wire? Thanks.
As would be done in a 2002 CRV since it does not have a stock screen, it does come with a cassette radio
thanks, this video was really helpful 👍
don't do what he did
it's unnecessary to run wire to left side tail light and cut the rubber gasket that's dumb
@@21boxhead what are you supposed to do?
@@keithgaxiola562 BEFORE INSTALLING THE LIGHT INSERT THE GASKET FROM THE FRONT OF THE LIGHT THEN PUSH IT BACK
So useful having searched for the colour coding of the positive side of the reversing light. Do you have a video of removing enough of the ceiling panel to access the antenna? I need to fit a DAB one.
Why did he go to the left side instead of continuing on the right side?
Can you add link of the stereo unit you used in the details of this video and also add the link to the video of the unit installed
How does the reverse camera come up on the dash if it's powered with the ignition?
Because power the camera off of accessory is separate than triggering the radio to go into reverse. Radio's that are compatible with reverse cameras will have a reverse trigger wire that needs to see 12v when in reverse, outside of power that camera. So you may need to run a separate reverse trigger wire if you are powering your camera on accessory.
So, without the reverse wire properly wired, the camera could still be powered and visible, but just wont pop up when the car is put into reverse?@@ProvoBeastAudio
If you alternatively wire the camera on just reverse light power, yes, it will only function in reverse and receive power only when the reverse light is on.@@mydearriley
Ah! I was thinking that the "trigger" wire = "powers the camera once triggered." But it's more likely a change in amps (or would that be a change in volts?) @@ProvoBeastAudio
@@ProvoBeastAudio So, I have it all installed (following your guide, thank you), but the head unit is stuck with a black screen with green "No Signal" text.
This happens as soon as I power on the car. However, when I put the car into reverse, the camera engages as expected. But once back out of R, it returns to the blank screen. I also have no speaker output (phone connects, but doesn't provide volume).
Any ideas?
I can not get the screws out that hole the upper-side cargo hooks on the side panels. I tried both sides, they just spin. I was able to get the camera wire through the gromet and into the cargo area. There's no way to get to those backup light wires without pulling that panel out more. Without getting those upper hook screws out it does not pull away enough. Any ideas where I can tap into the reverse lights? 2006 CRV. Thanks.
Same with me. I finally got the screw out only to find out that those specific location hooks do not screw into the metal body of the car .....they are floating and only screw into the plastic panel no need to remove them.
There is no need to remove these cargo hooks. They do not hold the panel in place against the metal frame of the vehicle.
Do you have to go to the driver side to access the backup light power? Thanks!
You should be able to connect it to the passenger side.
Did you ever get an answer on this? I really don't want to run it across from my driver side seems like a waste of effort
The license plate on these CRVs is off center. Do the backup camera guide lines still work okay with the camera off center?
nope he's a noob he also could tap into the tail light trigger from the inside without ripping the rubber gasket
@@stephenclark678 center it mount it with screws to the plastic bezel on the rear door
I bought one similar to this and I hooked everything up the way you did in the video, I’m not getting any camera feed but it does know when the car is in reverse, the leds around the camera are on too. Does anyone know how to fix this?
sounds more like a issue with the camera not the installation
or for easier install, just turn around and look behind you when backing up
Duh but having a backup Camera is still great to have.
This video is literally called "back up camera" but ok....
Why did you use the left brake light instead of the right?
Well, we went to the reverse light, not the brake light. We went to the driver side for better access for recording video. You are welcome to tap into either side.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I meant reverse, sorry. How does connecting it to the left side give you better access?
@@GeorgeWPush For filming, not necessarily for access generally. Easier to show how to remove the rear light with the camera to show what wiring to tap into.
Any ideas why my stereo screen flickers?
Update- managed to fix it needed to change the video format to PAL and type CVBS
The license-plate mount on the CRV is located off-center. Are the lines the camera shows for judging distances still accurate when the camera's mounted off-center?
just center it mount it with screws on plastic bezel on the rear door
@@21boxheadPost a video of how you did it .
En que parte pusiste la cámara?
Camera is on the License plate holder, kinda off toward the driver side more so it will look alittle off center.
y'all really need a back-up camera for a crv? bahaha,good gawd...
Why wouldn't they?
??
You really came to a video labeled "back up camera" to make this comment? Good GaWd....
