There’s two screws underneath the glove box that loosens up the glove box enough that makes it way easier to thread the wire to behind the radio. You don’t have to take the glove box off though. Also if you pull out the large plastic tray where a spare tire is typically kept making it easier to thread wire through back compartment to passenger door.
Hello again. I figured out what I did wrong. I connected the rca to video out instead of in, lol. Thanks again for a great video! Saved me a total of $425 labor only with the radio installation and purchasing their $110 back up camera. I bought a camera on amazon for about $35 and the radio with harnesses and trim kit about 260 :)
These actually did come with a backup camera on the JDM version as an option. Shocking for 2005. I was trying to look into what that set up/wiring configuration was like.
Very helpful video. Having a visual on the grommets did help. I have the same vehicle and just completed a license plate cam install. Although you drilled a hole...... we're curious on how you actually mounted your camera. I will upload a video of mine soon.
Hello there! I am just wondering how it was when you attached the camera with the tire on. Does the tire affect the view of the camera? I have the same car pretty much so I am just curious.
Hello and thank you for the video. I have the exact same crv as yours in the video. Toady, I spent the better part of the day installing my back up camera and radio. I was able to follow your video and remove the necessary trim pieces to get the wire to the front dash area where the radio is. Unfortunately, when I put the car in reverse, no video on the monitor. I tapped into the green and black reverse light wire with the red wire, which has the black wire connected to it. I grounded the black wire to the frame. Then I tapped red wire from the main long wire into the positive power feed wire as well. At the radio, my unit clearly displays which wire in their harness is for the camera, so I tapped into that wire with the red wire and plugged the yellow rca video into the back of the radio. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Hi again and thanks for responding. I made a rookie mistake and plugged the rca cable into the wrong spot in the back of the radio. Lol. Once I plugged it into.the in spot it worked like a charm. I love UA-cam thank you again you made a scary process doable!
First of all, excellent video. I was able to install my camera with no problem because of you. I'm just confused about one part about hiding the wire. I can't figure out how you went from 12:07 to 12:08. After you connect to the reverse light, how are you getting to the wheel hub ?
Most cams will show u to go under trim on the floor or on the ceiling. Shouldnt have to go through the wheel hub at all. Keep it inside and protected as much as possible, which means inside the car and inside the doors and trim and what not
Very helpful video. I’m trying to put the same backup camera in my 2006 CRV. I am wondering where you got the grommet used on the drilled hole in the rear door where the camera wires come thru?
I've done it both ways. The headliner is difficult because the side curtain airbags are in there on 05-06 models. The floor is tricky around in the rear area. I'd probably recommend just running it in the floor under the trim panels up the right side.
Hi! Thanks for that video, very well done! Would you please tell me what's the brand & model of the camera you bought? or maybe an URL to the product? Thanks 🙂
Very helpful. However, you did not show the placement of the camera installed and if the view was off not being exactly centered. I have a 2004 CRV (a year older than yours) and where you pointed was not centered, how does it view once installed? also where you pointed rt of the license i have a hole so that would leave left of the license plate on that ledge. My camera maker said, it would throw off the camera that was too far from center. Your thoughts? They suggest the only spot would be the bumper, do you have direction on taking off rear bumper? Done some searching and have found none. Thank you.
Hi I’m trying to connect an after market stereo in my Honda CR-V 2002 I got harness matching all the colours but still is not turning on. I did not understand clearly about the blue wire that you changed. Do you think that’s my issue?
When I installed a very similar, if not the same, model, Only one wire's color differed from the stereo's harness to the aftermarket harness. However, if you are not receiving power to the unit you can pretty much figure it's the power (red) or ground wire (black). Make sure the ground is correct or the current has no where to flow. The connections that were different on my stereo harness was the illumination control. You may want to make sure you've connected that appropriately in case the color's vary like mine.
Hello, thanks for the great video. I have a 2006 CRV. I plan to install a stereo-Nav unit with backup camera. Can I ask you what camera you used. I like the small end on the one that you used. Thanks
Great, thanks a lot. On my 2006 CRV there is a built-in box in that first hole on the inside, and they mount the jack in it. That makes it hard to route the wire like you show. Seems like there is always a fly in the ointment. Thanks for the great video.
@Jack : I'm a bit confused how you fed the spliced wires (that feed off the 12v from the backup bulb circuit) through the grommet. That things got such precise holes cut into it for the specific wires that exit the vehicle. Any chance there is a way to splice into them inside the trunk after removing the rear trim panel?
Hi, I installed that camera to my 2006 CRV. But my picture onmy screen is up side down. I noticed that 1 cable has to be cut in order picture will be correct. Please help me which cable I have to cut?
Hello, im installing a camera my self, can you please tell me which wire Coming out of the reverse light is the one you connected.. thanks!! Green and black?? And solid black there's 2 of them
I'm sure you figured this out but, you connect the red camera and signal wires (positive) to the green w/black stripe. You'll run the camera's black wire to the black bulb wire or to a bare metal piece of the car (to "ground"). When the reverse light comes on, power will go to the bulb, the camera, and the signal wire of the radio.
I had to install a side warning sensor in my CRV. Removing those rear interior panels had me freaking out. your video was most helpful. Thanks!

Its above the license plate, so slightly off center, but still work good
The green with black stripe is the positive. Can I use either 2 black wires for negative?

Do you have a volt meter to test your trigger wire? You need to make sure you have +12v at the wire going into the stereo when the car is in reverse.

Works fine where i put it. Its a wide angle camera so you don't really notice it not being perfectly centered....
With the placement of the backup camera, are you able to see the spare tire? Does it block part of the view?
Cant see it and doesnt block any of the view.
That was my question too...as the rear wheel will first hit everything..soo not the best place for the camera 😢

What wires do I connect to be able to use the factory revbrse camera with my new Android stereo. There is no rc input plug to go into stereo one.

why not just go through the roof lining. Its so easy and takes 5 mins
can you explain?

That’s how I did mine is faster and easy
How did you do this?
Id prefer my dash cam up high to see all, and inside my vehicle bc i dont think this brand was built for outdoor conditions
i cannot get the wires through that tubing connecting the back door to the rest of the car to save my life!
