  • Have you tried everything to fix your sleep, yet nothing works? If you are like most people (including me), you have probably turned to Google to find the easiest and best sleep remedy out there.
Sometimes, we try too hard, and our efforts seem to backfire.
    So, what can you do?
First, it’s important to educate yourself. I know that with the mountain of information available online, figuring out what is truly helpful can be daunting. I’ve been there myself when I was struggling to sleep, and my sleep-deprived mind just couldn't make sense of it.
The thing is much of the advice and information that we find online is valid to a certain point. But you must figure out what is getting in the way of YOUR sleep, because everyone's difficulties have a unique root cause.
Through working with many clients and from my personal experience, I have learned that even though certain specific events initially cause sleep difficulties, the wider cause is down to dysregulation of the nervous system. And that is what makes it impossible for you to sleep today. It’s no longer about what happened in the past, so we have to deal with the active dysregulation of our nervous system in the present moment.
How can we deal with a dysregulated nervous system?
In my online program, “The Better Sleep Community,” I cover this in detail, but in today’s video, I want to give you a quick overview.
First, we need some solid education. How does your nervous system affect your sleep? Which events in your past caused the dysregulation you are living with today that disrupts your sleep?
Next, we learn how the nervous system really works and work on building a solid foundation of regulation. The three key prongs of this approach are:
    1. using our resources
    2. following our biological impulses
    3. orienting
In today’s video I provide a quick overview of each of these points.
Once we build a solid foundation for our nervous system and have the right education on board, we can start examining our mindset and behaviors. These are the tools needed to create better sleep for ourselves.
I'd love to hear your thoughts when you've watched the video! I know how easy it can be to feel overwhelmed when we are sleep-deprived and have lost hope of ever sleeping peacefully again.

Please help, I just got out of nursing school and very stressed out. I have not been sleeping well for the past 1.5 month ago. I get anxiety around sleep because i feel that if I don’t sleep I’m going to die. It’s horrible, I never had sleeping issues until now. I need help please.
