Well I think it is beautiful. I want to make one tomorrow for my brother, so thanks for the insight, and sharing your talent with all of us....and I would love to see how you made the spokeshave by hand. Thanx again, Katie Anderson

Amazing work, but damn your voice is so soothing..., I'm just about to make a mallett too and this is great inspiration!

Only thing I would have done differently is carve both sides.
More of a good thing can’t be bad.

True! I consider carving the other side once I improved my carving skills.

Turned out beautiful. I too would enjoy seeing the spokeshave build as well as the pros and cons of your plane build. Love the video work and the music.

Nice project and the carving set it off beautifully.
I built one recently and initially made the head too large. I cut it back and reshaped it and now serves as my heavy mallet for large mortises. I made mine of white oak, but without carving.

Oh, white oak is a great choice for a heavy mallet! It is always great to have different weights and sizes. For cutting this mortise into the cherry I also used my heavy oak mallet. But I realized that it's just too heavy for some tasks - now I got this smaller one and I have the feeling they are a perfect team. Thank you!

Hello Joseph, thank you so much! I think the next video will cover the design and experience with my handplane and after that I will get the spokeshave video ready. Makes me happy to see you enjoying my videos!

Nice work. Are you still planning on building a workbench?

It looks really good, I'm wondering if the weight is the right one for carving though ?

It is indeed more on the light side. I have another, way bigger mallet made from oak which is pretty heavy. I still like to use this lighter cherry mallet for more detail work.
