White Dove Works
Приєднався 28 лип 2021
Hello, I'm glad to see you here. I created this channel to share my work and experience from different projects. I always loved doing things by myself and I am sure this will never change in the future.
I am looking forward to seeing what you think about my ideas and solutions. This channel will be focused on working with wood, leather and metals, making and restoring tools, furniture and knives.
About me: I am an Industrial Enginnering student from Munich, Germany. I got my first workbench at the age of 6, now I am 23 and still loving it. Apart from all the DIY stuff I really enjoy playing the guitar, reading and traveling.
My name is Adrian and this is White Dove Works.

How To Make A Mallet || Wood Carving || Handtools Woodworking
This video is about making a wooden mallet, that I will use for woodworking, carving and leather projects. The head is made of cherry, walnut was chosen for the handle.
I saw the opportunity to shift this project to a new level by attempting to carve a celtic weave pattern into the side of the head. Considering the tools and experience I had, I am more than happy with the result.
I hope this video inspires you do start you own project!
I am always happy for feedback, just leave me a comment or send me an email!

How To Make A Wooden Handplane | Pt. 2/2 || Handtools Only
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
This is the second part of my wooden handplane project. It covers how to make the tote, some details regarding the design of the plane and the assembly and finishing. I really hope you enjoy watching the process. By the time this video is uploaded, the plane is already in use for more than one year. I made it in 2021. I used it on every single other project since then it is by far the most valu...
How To Make a Norris Handplane | Pt. 1/2 | Handtools Woodworking
Переглядів 9 тис.2 роки тому
This is how I made my first wooden handplane. I built it because I didn't have a plane, but yet i needed one. I only used simple handtools and I believe it turned out great. Woodworking projects like this are always a fun way to spend the weekend. The plane features a Veritas Norris Plane mechanism and blade. The body is made of walnut. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me for plans, dimensio...

Переглядів 6 тис.3 роки тому
Grab a cup of tea or coffee, sit down and relax while watching me build a marking gauge / cutting gauge with mostly handtools. I used Walnut for the body and beam and some brass for the thumbscrew, the wear plates and pressure block. I hope you enjoy watching it. If you have any question please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or leave a comment. Have a great day!
How To Make A Marking Gauge || Beautiful Craftmanship || Homemade Tools Pt. 1
Переглядів 17 тис.3 роки тому
The Marking Gauge is a essential tool for every traditional woodworker. Today I am showing you how to make a beautiful marking gauge / cutting gauge from brass and walnut. I used mostly handtools to keep this project as simple as possible. Please let me know what you think about the finished marking gauge and consider subscribing to my channel, if you like handtools, woodworking and toolmaking.
Never mind, I found the video of you making it . I will watch it now.
Well I think it is beautiful. I want to make one tomorrow for my brother, so thanks for the insight, and sharing your talent with all of us....and I would love to see how you made the spokeshave by hand. Thanx again, Katie Anderson
I have yet to make a hand plane from scratch. One thing that has always puzzled me is why on planes made from 12/4 wood, is why there is no hole drilled from one end through the main body. Any wood, 12/4 and thicker never reaches equilibrium and the inside is at higher moisture content than the outside which creates stress, and stress is relieved by cracking. I have never seen an antique plane of this thickness that didn't have multiple cracks in it. Nice looking plane anyway.
I have a question. Did you refine the cuts of your saw with a chisel, to be sure that the surface is flat and the angle is precise, or is it my impression that you didn't?? In case you didn't i suggest you do cause in can really help with the ability of the plane to function correcly. Overall it is a great video 8.5/10
Have you stopped uploading videos to YT?
Great demonstration. A follow-up video on design and demonstrating the cutting capability would be appreciated.
What a gorgeous plane you have created. I just found your channel and am saddened to see you haven't put out a video in quite some time.. almost 2.5 years. Good content. If you're able I'm sure there are many of us who would like to see more of your creations. Thanks for this video.
would have loved to give you a thumbs up but it did not show up
That’s a plane I could fall in love with.
Fantastic project and video. Waiting for more. All the best from Poland.
This looks so nice i hope I have time to make one of those thanks for the idea
Great content you deserve a lot more, thanks for this video, you earned a subscriber 🙃
What is the use of the front upper brass insert?
No shavings, no proof it was a success.
👍👍
good
I like - need more info
We The Few .... appreciate your sharing of the making of a wonderful marker. We learned a lot and will follow .... (we want to see how you made the knife) ... OORAH!!
Where did you get your hardware from?
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for this video, one of best I ever seen on marking gauge construction.
Beautifully done
Nice work. Are you still planning on building a workbench?
Thank you for the tutorial, very enjoyable
Great job!
To get around the "metric sizing" or odd ball sizing - use an American Drill Bit and just some epoxy to fill in the "sloppy hole". You don't want a too tight (smaller) hole - it will crack due to stresses. I've used this and have no problems. You can also use a washer and 2 nuts on a bolt to thread in an insert (I do) and use a hand wrench or a power wrench.
Please list the supplier for the Norris type mechanism and cutting iron. Also,...a demo of your new plane would be nice.
Veritas sells the kit and blade used in this video.
Amazing work, but damn your voice is so soothing..., I'm just about to make a mallett too and this is great inspiration!
NIce! Still waiting for the video about spokeshave ;)
" How to make a Norris Handplane " certainly not like That
Thanks for watching my video anyways. What do think did I do wrong? Would love to hear about it.
@@whitedoveworks5651 without taking away from anything you have Made a Norris Plane is far more than just a Adjuster. What you have created is more in the Style of a Krenov Plane. If you ever get the Chance to Study a Norris and appreciate just How well made they are you will see what I mean . Carry on your Fine Work
Surely only Norris can make a Norris plane. You could make a replica or copy if you wanted to.
Beautiful
Thank you very much, Frank!
highly underrated
Man there is nothing wrong with your set up. If you like it and it works that's all you need. I remember working with limited resources before I built my shop. And sometimes I miss what you are doing. Great video, and new sub.
Hello! Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words. I am already looking forward to spending some more time in the workshop this winter. Thank you for subscribing, I hope you will like the upcoming videos as well! :)
Beautiful craftsmanship
Thank you very much David!

Hello Thomas! Thank you so much for kind words, really means a lot to me. You can send me an email to the.white.dove.works@gmail.com. I will forward you the technical drawing for the body of the gauge if you wish. If you have any other questions on the construction I'd be happy to help.
I believe it would be a beautiful tool made from your australian woods! Thank you for the suggestions, making a new square is something I have on my list for quite some time already, I should definitely do that this upcoming fall. I was also thinking about making a pipe, a dovetail saw and a toolbox. :)
Turned out beautiful. I too would enjoy seeing the spokeshave build as well as the pros and cons of your plane build. Love the video work and the music.
Thank you very much Matt! Makes me happy to read comments like yours. There'S definitely something to come during the upcoming winter months.
Love this channel, waiting on the spoke shave upload. Really makes me confident how you execute such great work with simple tools. Take this sub!
Thank you so much! I am super grateful for your kind words.
The algorithm finally brought me here, like your video style. Subscribed , 👍 and binged the rest. Keep them coming. Thanks for what your doing😊
Nice work!
Nice! It’s beautiful tool. God blessing you.
Only thing I would have done differently is carve both sides. More of a good thing can’t be bad.
True! I consider carving the other side once I improved my carving skills.
It looks really good, I'm wondering if the weight is the right one for carving though ?
It is indeed more on the light side. I have another, way bigger mallet made from oak which is pretty heavy. I still like to use this lighter cherry mallet for more detail work.
nice work on this, the carving is beautiful.
Thank you so much, Tom! I'm glad you like it :)
Nice project and the carving set it off beautifully. I built one recently and initially made the head too large. I cut it back and reshaped it and now serves as my heavy mallet for large mortises. I made mine of white oak, but without carving.
Oh, white oak is a great choice for a heavy mallet! It is always great to have different weights and sizes. For cutting this mortise into the cherry I also used my heavy oak mallet. But I realized that it's just too heavy for some tasks - now I got this smaller one and I have the feeling they are a perfect team. Thank you!
Very nice. Looking forward to seeing your spokeshave. Glad to see your recent upload.
Hello Joseph, thank you so much! I think the next video will cover the design and experience with my handplane and after that I will get the spokeshave video ready. Makes me happy to see you enjoying my videos!
Handsome and I learned a lot. I am greatfull for your video and efforts. Paul
Thank you so much, Paul! I am happy you liked it. I hope you have a great day.
What is the name of the saw that you are using?
Hello Paul! This is a Japanese Ryoba Saw. This particular one was made by Z-Saw.
If you live in Europe I would highly recommend to check www.dictum.com . They have many different saws and also great description on how to choose the right one for your needs. For me, the Ryoba is by far the most versatile saw. It can handle so many tasks, from cross-cut to rip-cut, dovetails or long cuts through boards. I use it 9 out of 10 times I need to saw.
@@whitedoveworks5651 Thank You! I will look into it.
Very nice build! However when you make a video of a plane build you need to show the first curls being cut! Your video production is very good.
Oh, you are right! I totally missed to include a shot of the first curls. I will definitely do that with the next plane I make. Thanks and have a nice day!
Really amazing work! Great information, but also nice music and camera work. Elegant tool and elegant presentation. Looking forward to more! Grüße aus Stuttgart!
Thank you so much! It always makes me happy to read such a nice comment by someone who really appreciates all the work that went into creating the video. From building the thing, to thinking about camera angles, recording the music, cutting the video until finally publishing many hours go into it. Happy to see that you really enjoyed watching it! :D Grüße zurück aus München!
Great video, thank you!
Thank you very much, Sean!
