So I’m seeing in your comments that it didn’t work very well. Have you figured out what the problem is? I was thinking about doing something along these lines for my daughter when we’re sitting around the campfire (away from vehicle) and I figure as long as the antenna is up high like say in a tree, and you’re as close as you’d be when it’s in a car, it should work as well as it would in a car.
my understanding is that: 1. your external antenna has to be clear of any obstructions around it--higher than any gear on the roof (being in a tree, the tree branches would be blocking the signal. 2. your cell phone has to be in the range of 18 to 36 inches of the internal antenna to receive the signal from the internal antenna. (so if the internal antenna is in the vehicle and you are by the camp fire it probably will not work. 3. the internal and external antenna has to be far enough apart so as to not interfere with each other, AND be no further than the provide external antenna wire (you can get a longer cable, but my understanding is that the signal will degrade. 4. And finally, there has to be SOME cell signal in order for it to be boosted. If there is no signal, there is no boost.
you are better off taking WeBoost Home Complete unit -- and doing that. It should work 100 % better. It's because the one you made if for a car and shoots out a weaker signal... keep trying. I'd like to know more..
It worked it just didn’t work well lol. From what I’m hearing it doesn’t work great to begin with unless you get the rv version with the giants antenna.
Please provide a full parts list and maybe a schematic
The interior antenna is also supposed to be much farther away from the booster box itself.
Really? Good to know I’ll keep that in mind.
@@SoCalOutdoors there’s supposed To be like 36” or something.
wow this is a great idea! nice!
Great idea
Any update on how this is working a year later? Thx
I just posted a new video. Please check it out.
Awesome thank you
soooo how did the portable unit work out for ya?

From what I’m hearing it’s just not designed to work outside, it’s designed to work within an enclosed area like the truck cabin.

Is that a package deal or you put that system together?
It was something I put together as an experiment. It hasn’t worked great to be honest so I’m going to install it more traditionally soon.
Nice!!
I did the same thing. It wasn't great. ughh
Yeah, I’m noticing the same results. Not great. Worth a try, it was so fun build at least.

Thanks for the tip; I’ll look into it.
Something tells me it didt work😂😂😂
