I so love your response to this song and artist!!! I was laughing seeing how you are trying to figure out what place to put this in. Back in the day I called it pretty grunge rock. But her voice is beautiful. Her name is Amy Lee. I don't know his. My children thought it was hilarious that I even listened to them. Keep listening she has many good ones. You guys are new to me. But I am watching more often. I really appreciate the things you find. Keep up the great work

first time visitor to this channel. The look on Chod's face told the story of how much he liked it. Your constant big grin was great lol. Watching Dee(?) mouth comments like "she jumped" was amusing. I appreciate Chod saying how he likes to check out the studio version before the music vids. Thats really great actually. But I also can appreciate the wife liking a more visualization that a video can bring to help the listener/viewer understand more. You have to be careful with that path though cause there are a lot of videos that has nothing to do with the lyrics of the song :P

Amy Lee songwriter composer and here in her own music video. This video was on a VHS Blockbuster movie starring Ben Affleck as Daredevil with Jennifer Garner release 2003. This video was shown after the end titles. Part of the original soundtrack for the movie. Oh that's a good movie 4 superheroes.
Love the song and video.Nostalgia ride for me tho.Remember listening to this tune while doing a 3month train-up at Ft Steward,Ga. to deploy to Iraq.Had 2 deployments already under my belt,but this was the worst train-up out of them all.BUT,we managed to pull thru. LOL. Me and my Lt would ROCK-OUT to this tune,air guitar and all !!! LOL. We became pretty good friends,even tho we disagreed often,but my experience over-rided his.This was the Lt's first deployment.So,I was King of the castle. LOL.
A new classic! Amy didn't want any guest vocals. The male voice was kind of forced on her by the record label. She redid the song with an orchestra on her "Synthesis" album, and it's worth a listen to get a feel for how she wanted it arranged. I like both, but I think she's right that it's better with just her voice. :) If you haven't watched the video for "My Immortal" yet, that should be next on the list.
Amy Lee has done solo stuff and collaborated with other artists. The Seether song Broken features her. I've also heard her cover a Led Zeppelin song Going to California as well which is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs.

The song is a metaphor for how we go through life "awake" but actually trying to live out dreams and missing what we are causing around us and within us, and whether we kill ourselves through a jump, diseased through what we ingest or starve of, or we survive the longest, we still kill ourselves at different speeds through different deeds.

I know Amy Lee didn't want the guest male vocals on this song but the contrast between them is magnificent! That's Paul McCoy from 12 Stones singing the male part! She wrote this when she was like 20 yrs old! It's about a bad time in her life but also about the man she married, that helped get her out of it all! Her voice is hauntingly beautiful!
P.s. yes...Chod is correct on the pronounciation 😉

The male vocalist in this song doesn’t showcase his voice very well but he’s the lead singer of an amazing rock band called 12 stones. His voice is actually extremely beautiful for a male rock singer. I listened to them for like 10 years before I found out they were actually a Christian rock band 😂. You should check them out!

Unfortunately, many music videos have nothing whatsoever
to do with the song. They distract and take the listeners mind
off the music and lyrics.
Although it’s a very cool video, I think it kind of hurts the song. It draws your attention away from a masterpiece of a song, and puts dramatic pauses in the song that don’t exist without the video.
