Thanks, normally wind noise makes any on the water commentary difficult so I have bought a waterproof lav with a small dead-cat on it pinned to my hat. I'm pleased with the results so far (it was about 8-12 knots here)
To win a title in that sort of class shows just how good a sailor Mozzy really is. Well done mate! Skipper of the English entry in the future America's Cup?👍😎
I'm in Sausalito, near San Francisco CA, trying to refit (and learn to sail) a 1998 Winner Europe. Intense little boat! Your video is really helpful. Thanks!
Voice was great! Yeah... Traveler adjusting over main sheet is by far the best, for sail shape stabilaty etc. Nice boat! Need one in San Francisco. Cheers!
Aer you going to go to the worl championship this year? I have been a Europe sailor for a long long time, now retired and I'm a coach, but in the 7 world championships I have atended I've never seen anyone from the UK. It would be a plesure to meet you at an event like a Wolrd Championship. Nive boat btw.
Great tweaking tips and congratulations on the win 🏆I’m surprised you’ve not been approached by sail GP and the Cup teams I think you know as much if not more than them. I believe the cunny was named after Briggs Cunningham an Americas Cup competitor in the day, arbitrary fact.
Hey Claire, I was using a DJI wireless mic recording through with a Shure MVL lav mic placed on my hat with a small dead cat on. I put the DJ wirelsss mic in a small dry bag in my buoyancy aid to keep it safe.
I still dream of owning a Europe dinghy, knowingly ignoring the fact that I had to sell it when I was a kid because I literally couldn't fit under the boom anymore. Too tall for a Europe. Not fat enough for a Finn. Forever stuck with a Laser. Congratulations on the title!
Yes, this fellow can Sail. He also seems to be good at engineering. He seems to have a good fitness program, a good haircut, and good communication. His videos are efficient and short. Should have stated dinghy's length, beam, draft, and max speeds (fastest in this vid, fastest so far, at what wind speed, etc,)
If you pause at 0:45 you will see the frictions rings act as a take up for the traveller (starboard side is taking up slack). The two are joined together via some bungee cord around the front of the centreboard case. This stops the excess rope on the leeward side from getting tangled up around anything
Made it myself from a glass lifting suction cup from park tools bonded to an old tiller extension with a ball and socket joint on the end (plus a safety line)
Very similar rig to the Finn, and listening to the Excellent Mozzy, he has clearly got into the class and gained a good understanding of it very quickly. I would say it took me a year to learn how to sail the Finn anything like properly! So different from the other classes he is well known for (skiffs, of several types).
great video - loved the live commentary and the audio quality was spot on. Good stuff!

bravo Mozzy! Europe is top dinghy boat for learning fine tunning and great fun..
respect from Croatia

Good luck!
Congratulations, Tom. A fine win and an excellent vid.
Another great video pal. It’s good the way you explain the stuff
I try
Love to see more and more people sailing on the Europe! Keep up the content!
I'd love to see more of this dinghy up on the plane ... I used to race R-class and 16 footers and the rush of being on the plane is awesome.
Good video Mozzy! This one will make me to sail my Europe dingui again after 8 years!
Very insightful. I’ve sailed a lot in small boats as a kid but don’t know any of the lingo. Very cool to see the parallels to America’s Cup too!
That was a very enjoyable watch. Thanks!

Pretty cool video, good audio. Brought back some old memories. Sailed Europe from -98 to -02
Great video. Lots to think about
That brings up some nice memories...
Having raced Lasers competitively it is interesting to see all the added controls.
Nice to call out for Dave Hollom, grand old man of British sailing (smile)!
Credit where credit is due
Balls to the kicker on a Europe, it's just there to set boom height off wind. Cunningham is the key setting tool via mast bend on the europ
Well done Mozzy, you are a rare talent. First time win is quite something. Euros and worlds?
Any class you move into must get a nervous twitch!

Not this year. The mid term aim is the Master Europeans which are at my home club next year. But I may do some other international events after that
I really like the format; audio was perfect. I'm not sold on the Europe though (it looks really slow!).
Bravissimo Tom!!!!

Well done!
Congratulations! So you know how to sail then and not just give great analysis.
Go Team new zealand!
Great video Tom congrats on your win. Audio was great can you post the details of your microphone 😊

Cool ! Now, the same but with an International Moth ;-)
Mainsheet is like the kicker upwind like Dart 18 cat.

Too tall for a Europe.
Not fat enough for a Finn.
Forever stuck with a Laser.
Congratulations on the title!
why not an OK?
@@evan1188 Unfortunately that class doesn't really exist in this country.
Grande Mozzy!

Very nice video mate! About the traveller: i see you have a 2:1 purchase, what is the benefit of adding a low friction ring?

Im definitely using this comment pieces to provide info about sailing to my friends that know even less then me😂@MozzySails
Also, I think singlehanded tack much better and nicer with the traveller system. Eg: Ok tack much better than in a breeze.
Grate vid
Go Mozzy go
Hi. Can you tell me what the camera rig you have on the back is?
Made it myself from a glass lifting suction cup from park tools bonded to an old tiller extension with a ball and socket joint on the end (plus a safety line)
@MozzySails oh nice. I'll have to make one myself. Got everything except the suction cup so that's perfect
They still make these boats? I used have one as a kid.
They certainly do! Really popular on the continent and seen a resurgence in the UK, so much so Synergy Boats have started manufacturing them
I thought Europe was dead. Used to be Olympic for (really light) women, if I remember correctly.
Nice, just like a little Finn.
rad
Fenders, Anchor, Helmet, Gaff Hook, ???🤔
How would you compare the loads to those in a laser?
Generally everything is less loaded except the mainsheet upwind, however you tend to cleat that and play the traveller instead
Mini Finn

Man, maybe I'm not pumping my sails enough it small gusts
I had to read the comments to understand that you hadn’t won a European sailing championship
#buyamoth
Technically it is a moth, measures as one at least
@@MozzySailsexcellent (and mind blowing) comeback! 🤯
*singlehanders. *than laser!
