    I believe he was 54 for this performance. He was great. I always thought this song was about him not helping someone who was commiting suicide, but later learned he caught his wife cheating on him and he was singing this to her lover. The best drum drop EVER!!!

    You should react to his Live Aid performances. Phil Collins - 1985 He played Live Aid at Wembley Stadium, London & JFK, Philadelphia same day!
    Phil Collins was the only artist to play both continents during that intercontinental concert. He played Every Breath You Take/Long Long Way to Go with Sting and a piano version of In the Air Tonight at Wembley Stadium, London, UK, boarded a plane, flew to Philadelphia, PA, USA to perform Against All Odds at JFK stadium. When he arrived he could not find a piano that was still in tune. He still rocked it and joined in on the drums with Led Zeppelin afterwards. Bless him for that passion and effort toward a charitable cause.

    He IS a drummer. He became the lead singer of Genesis when Peter Gabriel left the band. He does / did both often. You've heard a lot of him if you watched Disney movies from the 80s & 90s as well.

  • @rk41gator
    @rk41gator Рік тому +4

    Phil Collins is one of the best rock drummers to ever play. He became famous with the progressive rock band Genesis, then released his own album and he became an icon through the '80s.
    Listen to something from the '70s, the '80s and the '90s. Oh, he does NOT play guitar but he does play the keys. 'Ripples' (a ballad), 'In The Cage' (rock) and 'Tonight, Tonight, Tonight' (rock). If you find some of his concerts, he often plays the keyboard with his friend Chester Thompson plays drums. But he loves the drums. Genesis - I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) - In Concert 1976 you'll see him playing drums. He is the guy with the hat, long hair, and beard on drums.....they always had TWO drummers after lead singer Peter Gabriel left for his solo career. (Peter is VERY talented also and has a deep, amazing catalog)

    Absolutely love watching someone hear/watch this song for the first time. I'm screaming "JUST WAIT!!" at the screen. Some of the best 80s songs are "different," like Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" with the chorus at the end, or Prince's "When Doves Cry" with no baseline. Thanks for the reaction! New sub! (BTW, your mic is much softer than the video. Maybe turn it up a bit?)

    He began in one of the very first Progressive (jazz-oriented) rock bands in the 60's called Genesis, but he was JUST DRUMS, maybe some harmony. The lead back then was another great worth checking out named Peter Gabriel. Peter left the band to go solo. Phil stepped in to take the lead vocals, most times while playing the drums. This takes huge breath and diaphragm control. Genesis had many hits with Phil at the helm, less progressive, a bit more pop rock. Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, both GIANTS.

    This concert was in Paris, France in 2004. He would have been 53 at that time. That song which he wrote has been done by other artists and used in movies and TV but no one can equal Phil Collins. He has a voice that is unmistakable. He was a professional drummer before he branched into singing. The man is a true legend in the industry.
