Don’t you feel sorry for the younger generations who’ve missed out on what is real talent and music😊
Not really. It's all still out there. "Now" is always the best time to be alive when it comes to art. You get to enjoy everything that's ever been created.
Yes, but that is something every generation thinks.
I feel sorry for everyone who has to listen to most of today's music. Every time a younger person tells me how lucky I am to have grown up in music's incredible golden era, I point out how lucky THEY are to be able to hear and discover all this great music for the first time.
Absolutely!
Yes.. I do feel so sorry with they think is RAD.
May the GOOD LORD forever BLESS and KEEP Phil Collins!!!!
I just love watching the faces of people discovering this amazing talent, as a 72 Yr old british pensioner, I believe I have witnessed some of the most groundbreaking and amazing music in my time Glad you enjoy it too.
No shit!
I'm a metal head. Born in 73. I did not listen to "That soft crap" in my teens and was barely aware of Phil Collins. I was missing out due to my adolescent close mindedness. Phil is a frickin' LEGEND. He is an incredible performer, musical genius and all around rock icon. I still prefer old school Maiden, RJD, Sabbath and the heavy stuff, but Collins can not be ignored. He didn't even sound out of breath with that drum fill, played and sang perfectly. Damn.
I was very close minded when I was young. Everything was crap except what I was worshiping at the time. Here's to growing up and expanding our horizons : )
Phil is the 🐐
Something people don't seem to know. There's two drummers playing exactly the same. Chester Thompson is on the set right below him playing identical lines. It's amazing to watch. Seek out their drum battles while in Genesis. They won't disappoint a Maiden fan, trust me.
phil can sing and drum every bit like that all the time having seen him live with genesis he is just incredible especially with the other guys around him in the band and his collabs with Sklar etc..
@@Vlasko60, it’s called growth. 💚
Probably one of the very best British performers ever!!! This man is a Legend! ❤
Never piss this man off, or he'll write a song about it and the whole world will know!!😖😖🎶🎼🎵🎸🥁🎧🎤🎙🎹🤘🤘🤘🤘
Phil wears his pants around his waist and doesnt have four letter words I his lyrics!! No auto tune just 100% talent!!
פיל קולינס הוא אגדה מהלכת❤❤❤הוא איקוני.ביצוע מדהים❤❤❤❤אהבתי את התתגובה שלך👍👍👍👍🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
This goes down in history as one of THE most ICONIC live performances of a classic song ever!!
He is a legend.
I've seen this video so many times and it never gets old. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Me too, and I love to watch people's reactions too.
Best foreplay and climax ever.
"He sings with his eyes": indeed!
Great reaction, thanks.
Reviewers who either weren't familiar with Phil Collins, or,knew that he sang, in the '80s, but, didn't know he was a drummer get blown out of their chair by that drum fill.😂
I've watched this live performance so many times....
it NEVER gets old.. Y'ALL
youtubers reaction is just
PRICELESS 😂😂 i❤it😊😊
Phil is just Phenomenal Singer
w/multi-talented wide range
of being a artists......
This is what DIVORCE produces to the best Writer,Singer,StageProduction Manager and Musician I have known..
Phil is a legend. Period. ❤
This song means so much to me. My abuser died. Not sorry. This song gives people like me strength! Know it's not what he's sings about, but somehow, soothes me. Thanks. You have such radio voice. Bless you🙏
This concert is to Paris 2004. Here he was 53 years old ☺
You will never see this again. The magic of Genesis. Thec1st guitar strums got my hairs stand up. Then the drums later. Fkn wow. ❤
Not to take away from Phil Collins beautiful concert, but that guitar makes me wanna cry.
I love this song! He is unforgettable! He was so awesome and I wish him great health! Phil, I wish you the best and I love you! ❤️
How many of you do that drum solo EVERY single time you here this song.. no matter where or what you are doing??? I have not missed one yet ... and this performance... get outta here with this... PHENOMANEL... !!!!!!! Back when artist had to have actual talent to make it big.. !!!! Loved watching your reaction... that drum part at the end just makes everyone hang on to their seat and wait for the ride to stop.. !!!!
I mean that young girls face says it all, like a religious experience.
I have been a huge Phil fan for years. My daughters who weren’t into Phil at that time bought me tickets for this concert. At the end of this performance we were all in tears. ( They are huge Phil fans now!) 👏🏻👏🏻
The power of a live concert is entirely different from the studio tracks.
Phil Collins_ G.O.A.T. !!!
For me, it's a joy to see him on the drums again.
This is one of, if not THEE best, live performances of all time. I can watch it a thousand times over again in a row and never get tired of it.
Same. Best part is finding people who haven't seen it to get their reaction.
@@royrobinson9212 LOL! So I am not the only one who looks for those reactions! I love em!
That crowd sure got their money’s worth with that performance! He’s amazing!
This concert was in Paris 2004 . Phil was 53 yrs old & still killing it! He wrote this after his divorce....it was a combination of all those emotions on top of dealing with fame. She couldn't deal with him being gone for months at a time. But he couldn't pursue his dream without touring. All the frustration...hurt...& anger all comes through.
Interesting: you know more about the meaning of the song than Phil himself..
Music genius. Im sad that his health problems provents him from performing. He has given us so much Great music over the years.
this song at this concert was from his first farewell tour at bercy park paris in 2004 and in my opinion it is a much better version than the original - this one seems to have the depth that was missing when phil wrote and sang it at a much younger age
Love his song, Don't care anymore. It from the same time as this song
Aw Texas you blew it. Some songs you just can't pause in the middle unless you go back and start over. It's written in the Universe somewhere.
Phil is an icon. He wrote this song about his divorce. Love your reaction!
Best live performance !! 🥁🎤🎶🎹
One of the most iconic songs ever . He is a legend.
I remember being in a traffic jam, and Heard man listening to this on his radio the song, we both put up radios and air drumsticks and Woman to my left tapped her horn, and all three of us went together on the air drums. Was cool and fun.
So sad that he can no longer play the drums due to back surgery. He said he would have to tape the sticks to his hands. His son Nick played the drums on the last tour. Phil had to sit in a chair.
Phil was a great entertainer live. Terrific sense of humor incorporated into his shows. He had the same band for years too.
He worked with Philip Bailey (of Earth Wind and Fire) and produced one of his hit albums. Since Phil was an R&B fan he hired the Phenix Horns for his brass back up. Good ear for music!
his band was the genesis touring band members olus Sklar and others, so they know what they are doing and yes he is funny but always takes his performances singing and drumming seriously in between moments of levity.
Phil was a drummer with a voice!!
Im 65 yrs old and in my opinion my generation had the best singers, best music and best bands. So much talent to wrap your head around. From my generation to your's ✌️ and ❤️ my friend 😘😊
Phil is a wrapped up ball of power, talent creativity and also, great timing! Love me some P.C.!
I,m 77 I,ve watch many old timers bands my favorite one is one more night by Phil Collin
2004 Finally...The Final Farewell tour in Paris. Check out the closing song, Take Me Home. The performance and what Phil Collins does will surprise you. If the drum fill in this song was a eye opening moment, the ending performance is equal.
Phil tells the story in a interview, when the drum kit was not there as he is walking and singing so when he reached his mark, he jumped down played the drums and continued the song from below the stage.
The way he tells it is hysterical. A true artist and performer always!
It’s amazing that his voice hasn’t changed with age, unlike Jimmy whose voice has deepened and matured. Such a great voice and talent.
This is a great live version! Phil Collins is best known as the drummer/singer of the rock band Genesis in the 70's & for his solo career. He has had so many great hits such as "Another Day In Paradise", "I Don't Care Anymore", "Against All Odds", "One More Night", "Sussudio", "Take Me Home", "Two Hearts", "A Groovy Kind Of Love", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "You Can't Hurry Love" etc.
And the epic, Mama.
Never interrupt Phil’s drum solo
When the Drums came up on the elevator, we thought here we go... awesome reaction, new that would put a smile on your dial. :)
The pure happiness on your face told it all. Phil is a legend. I love watching younger generations watch the Classics. ❤
It's lost nothing of its brilliance from the first time hearing 🦘🇦🇺👍
You backed up the video to see Phil once he gets behind the drums, I backed up the video to see your reaction again to this epic moment. your reaction was priceless!
All about absolute heart break 💔 that we all experience ❤. IMO every single soul on earth this song is for everyone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great reaction hombre!!!!! Keep on keeping on!!!!! Keep digging that gold in rock and roll music!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 😎🍸
He is/was an amazing singer/drummer. Phil started off playing drums for the band 'Genesis', & Peter Gabriel was lead singer. Phil Collins decided to go his own way, singing & playing drums, just excellent! He has an album (vinyl!) out call 'His Greatest Hits Full Album - The Best of Phil Collins. You'll have to check it out on UA-cam, you'll LOVE it!!!! xx🥰🥰
I went to this concert in Orlando. All these years later, and I still get chicken skin when I watch this. He is no longer able to play the drums but we have years of his playing. His son is now the drummer … taught by his dad. 🐓 skin … still.
THANK YOU! You are the first reactor to note the atmospherics aren't part of the song. I understand the people who have never heard the song not knowing but a lot of reactors heard the song before and still didn't comment.
One of the best live performances I've ever seen.
That theory that he witnessed a drowning is so silly! All he said was that if the person he is talking to was drowning, he wouldn't help. How would that mean he watched someone drown?
I can't stop watching this!!!
One of the best drummers ever.its so sad that he can't even pick a drumstick up now 😢
Oh, awesome! You're right about the clear quality and power of his vocals... and he keeps it while drumming like that! What a beautiful, authentic reaction, too, Texas :~)
Phil Collins has always been one of my favorite drummers. And his voice is a one of a kind recognize it anywhere voice. I never really got into Genesis until Phil took the lead singer position when Peter Gabriel left. His voice brings back so many good memories for me.
This is one of my favorite songs/performances. Just wow.
If you ever want to do a reaction to another live performance, I vote for Queen Live Aid 1985 Full Concert.
The build up.the tease..yes the suspense...
In my younger years..I'm in Phil's age group..I had the pleasure to see a few concerts and truly wish this had been one of them...
Thanks Tex...🌿🌿🌿
I saw him and he did this drum solo dueling with Chester Thompson. I was around 18. It was epic.
You did a MASIVE NO NO. YOU Don’t pause in Phil’s drum solo. 😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
beautiful reaction. Greetz from Germany
Sorry but I have to say I love the sound of your voice….love Phil Collins so much even after 40 years..give it take a few lololol. Thank you for sharing 🙂💜
You should watch …I Don’t Care Anymore…another one of my favourite songs by Phil 💜
You've got to see this entire concert. You'll love it!!
Such a loss of a wonderful singer and performer 😢
Thank you for your reaction to this. He is a living legend. You should check out the duet with him and Chester Thompson, the one where he is wearing a white shirt. It's beyond belief.
Legendary, Epic! The built up, the command he has of the stage, and the people know he is a drummer, when you know that he is going to his drums and you know what is coming. And the passion that he put in the song and play the drums at the same time! IS truly epic
This one was in Paris. He completed a last tour with Genesis, went solo, but had to stop drumming because of back issues, because of playing all these years. His son Nic also plays the drums now. He played in their last concerts.
When I hear this song it always makes me remember Miami Vice lol
YES!
its about his life in music, i feel, that he made it: If u work hard dreams can come true. The guy was aback-stabber in his life, he has fallen
This was his first solo album. I bought it the day it released.
I flew from Indiana to see this concert.
GENISIS!!!!!
You can't go from FIRED UP to crying.
😆 🤣 😂 😆 🤣 😂 😆 🤣 😂
Another great live to review is The Eagles, Hotel California in '76. Amazing!
My first ever music purchase ever on my first pay day. Best album of all time, every song worthy of being a no.1.
I have a great suggestion for a live Phil Collins. It is Easy Lover. It’s an incredible live Video and It pairs Phil Collins with Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire.
It really shows Phil Collins in a manner that highlights his incredible personality and good nature, plus seeing him with Philip Bailey is incredible.
Absolutely Fabulous xx
when you mentioned the guitarist's simplicity.being a guitarist myself for over 50 years. . sometimes less is more
It seems you weren't aware that Phil played the drums until he sat down and started playing them! The look on your face was awesome! Great reaction Texas Love! Your smile said it all! Thank you for letting me sit in and watch with you! I enjoyed myself!
Every Time. Oh no is he gonna make it??? Then!!!
The guitarist Daryl Stuermer played on all of Phil’s songs and was the guitarist when Genesis toured live.
I feel sorry for the new generation now..they missed this kind of singer talent
Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Phil Collins are the only three musicians who have 100 million albums sold with a group and 100 million albums as a solo artist. That is how good Phil Collins is. Paul had the Beatles, Michael had the Jackson 5, and Phil had Genesis.
I saw him perform this live in Houston during this tour. Every time I see this video it brings back memories of not only this great song, but that concert. Watch the video of the concert, the beginning is amazing.
You might enjoy his raw passion in “I don’t care anymore”: official video.
phil was either 52 or 54 at this concert
I played FaceValue continually throughout my Nurse Training in the RAF, great times remembered. Have seen him live many years ago, always better live, not many of todays pop stars you can say that about. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He began in Genesis, and then this song played on Miami Vice.
Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey - Easy Lover
Daryl Sturmer on guitar is awesome, so is Leland Sklar, Chester thompson all three were in live genesis tours which i had seen them twice as the touring band with tony, phil and mike. Yeah it a great song and drumes phil sounds and plays like this in genesis songs and duets with chester on drums everytime, and they are phenominal together. phil sings and gets out in front though mostly but he has it all! it has also been said by engineers phil is a one take drummer with perfect timing like a metronome!
Can't understand why everyone thinks this concert was in 2009. This performance took place on his First Final Farewell Tour in Paris, France in 2004. In 2009 he was recovering from surgery. Don't believe he did any concerts that year.
great: the studio version
epic: this live version
Yep!
Great reaction!...👍
Woot! Every time I hear this song I'm immediately thrown back to Friday nights watching Miami Vice on TV. And for a percussion junkie like me, that da-da-da-dum-dum-dum just sets my heart on fire.
