  • Game: Jumping Flash!
    Platform: Playstation
Recorded on a SCHP-79001 NTSC Playstation 2 via direct capture. This playthrough has been edited to be more streamlined. It was not recorded in one take.
Jumping Flash! is a 3D platformer released in the very early days of the genre, even predating Super Mario 64 by almost a full year. While its age definitely shows in its graphics and control scheme, I actually feel that this makes it more unique. There's really no game that plays quite like it, and its graphics have that undeniable low-poly charm that defined 5th generation 3D gaming.
This video contains playthroughs of all 4 of the game's modes: Normal, Extra, Super, and Hyper.

A quick note on Hyper: If you look around the internet on how to unlock Hyper mode in Jumping Flash! (the first game, not the sequel), you'll likely have trouble finding the correct method for unlocking it. The most commonly described way to unlock it actually involves using a glitch to access the mode. However, this does not actually unlock the mode to your file, requires the use of cheat codes, and can only be done from a new file. Hyper can be unlocked legitimately by completing Extra mode with a high score. While I'm not completely certain of the exact score required to unlock Hyper, I believe it's somewhere around 3 million. My playthrough when I unlocked it had just over 3.5 million. I didn't include this in the video because frankly playing for score is boring to watch, as it involves grinding enemies without taking damage to inflate your Extra Bonus.
