@Bru Rred It's not really about the padding when they have the design of a lawn chair. If your a large guy I'd go for the FGT over the playseat challenge due to how narrow the playseat is.
Can the shifter mount be used to attach a thrustmaster sparco mod handbrake to it instead as I don't really use a shifter, currently using a paddle for handbrake 😑
Great review! You should be the go to reviewer for all sim racing/tech! The more companies realise how honest and comprehensive ( without being boring!) your reviews are and send you more gear the better! Great to see your channel growing Karl!
Al of your reviews are on point! The fact that you added the video at the end to show how to fold it truly shows you care..earned yourself a subscriber. CHEERS!
Never mind sim racing equipment, this is hands down one of the best product reviews period. No one wants to watch someone just parroting stuff from the manual. This was perfect!
The F-GT can be a pain in the arse to set up each time. However if you grab yourself a paint marker and mark the joints prior to collapsing, you can achieve your previous setups every time. Mark one colour for F1 and another for GT and another for whatever you want etc etc. Also FYI the newer model does not have the mesh in the seat but only in the backrest.
Found your channel when looking at buying some sim gear! Awesome reviews, just genuine content no overhyping BS like most you tubers these days haha! Definitely looking into getting one of these when my budget allows 👍
Great video, Karl. I bought mine around 3 months ago and I haven't regretted it - it's a great bit of kit and well worth the investment. Highly recommended
Liked the entire vid - the lack of fine tuning adjustability is an issue. Like Karl says and you could clearly see, in F1 position the back rest was too inclined or too upright. Needed a position in the middle of those, however with the large teeth in the adjustment that was impossible. A suggested tweak to Pagnian would be for the the interior cogs to have closer teeth to allow for finer tuning in adjustment
Many thanks for the detailed video on the F-GT Cockpit Chair. You helped make my mind up and I have gone for the F-GT. Like other F-GT owners, we all have fun trying the Pit Stop Fold Away Challenge..........!! Thanks again, Great Videos .....Keep Them Coming.......Keep On Racing .............
Brilliant video mate! Even though I've had this chair since last year (as soon as it came out) I watched your whole video, you did great 👍 To anyone reading this - this chair is brilliant! No problems with it apart from like Karl told you, a bit fiddly to get it back into the position you had it last but you soon pick it up. I love it.
May I suggest where you say the pedals could be too close for taller people, if you extend the front chair leg (by pushing in the silver buttons shown at 29.13) then angle the front leg away from you more that will keep the front of the chair the same height but push the pedals away. Also when folding up if you move the pedals down away from the cross bar, left all the adjusters loose then used the Velcro strap that would make it more compact. Good vid by the way, thanks.
@@m.m.6615 I'm only 6' and I have all the adjustments to their max , but I still feel like it would work, but may feel a bit cramped in the leg room. The chair however is enormous and would hold nearly anyone.
Had mine a few weeks now and would agree with all that you have said, my steering wheel flopped as did the gear shifter when the clamps where undone to fold away but I do have a full size drift wheel attached so it would weigh a little more. Good review as a fellow owner I would fully agree with all that Karl said 👍
These are such great videos!! I just saw a video of Nico Rosberg demonstrating his Formula 1 driving position, and he literally is lying down like that!
Hey Karl I just wanted to say big thanks to what you do! You helped tremendously with your great review. Here in Saudi, sim racing hardware is next to nonexistent. Only one place sells a few rigs and getting any online is a seriously bad idea considering shipping alone costs double the product price. Eventually, I went with the F-GT Lite here and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. So again, thank you and I'll be looking into your shifter reviews soon!

Been eyeing one of these up after having a Playseat Challenge before, looks like the extra width over the Challenge will be ideal for me, as I always found it a bit tight. Great review as usual mate, keep up the good work!
I just got this thing after much research based on my available space, I will say that getting it back to the same folded shape every time is not exactly easy. Set up and take down are longer than I would like, but still completely acceptable. I just got to the part where he found out you only want to have one axis loose at a time. Yup, and the shifter has to detach each time for storage unless you have a really weird shaped closet hole. None of these are deterrants overall, just observations. It is exactly what I needed for the application. My only real complaint is how heavy the beast is, VERY STOUT. Built for all size of gamers, emphasis on wide n beefy. I am 5'11 and had to drill out holes on the pedal mounts to add a few inches, just the far sliding bracket only. My knees were knocking the wheel mount bar when stock using the pedals that come with the T-248 thrustmaster set.
No beating around the bush. You're direct with very little fluff/useless information. I appreciate your videos and hope that you continue creating content.
It seems to have more neat features and adjustments than the playseat challenge but to me, it looks a lot more hassle to fold up and position which kind of defeats the purpose of having a foldable setup. Also, it's too big for my setup, it'll definitely block my projector 😄
Great review. Love the extra time you put into it Just got one of these last week and my first attempt at folding was about the same result. And I was even watching the video on how to do it.
I enjoyed your review mate, you went right into detail. Even mentioned some things I wouldn't have thought of. I've ended up just buying one using your Amazon link. Keep up the good work and good luck with your channel.
Thanks for the review. I think you could get the seat move back a bit by moving both the back and the support one notch for the "F1 position". It would raise the chair a bit, but not too much (I think) and you would lean back more but hopefully not too much. Not sure it works, but could be worth a try for those open wheel sessions :)
I bought one a year ago and fair to say overall its great. Given you did a 1hr review, i'm surprised you didnt test a race in the formula position. My biggest problem is the middle/pedals raising on breaking despite having the back bar down. Anyone have any ways to overcome this?!
Great video Karl thank you, best of the 3 reviews I watched by far and the only.one that made it clear the shifter plate could be on either side, exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
Another Great review Karl! You continue to smash it out of the box and can’t wait to see this week’s comparison! Informative and extremely entertaining what more do you need! Cheers again
Very informative buddy cheers 1 question though? Does the wheel plate have very much play from front to back up & down adjustment? I'm 5ft 6 I'm quite small but looks very short on the arms even fora midget like me? I know you said your 5ft 11in was the wheel distance a natural distance or am I correct in thinking its quite short from your shoulder to the wheel may just be the camera angle? I really like this little rig but need 1 that doesn't require too much bodging to make it comfortable lmao, great video yet again Karl I'm actually starting to take your advice over the likes of boosted media & chris haye they are absolutely great if your a pc guru but you seem to be able to keep things qs simple as possible or at least you can explain easily without too much detail so keep it up bro, you have covered everything else I was wondering other than my question
Yes it’s a big upgrade.. but remember it’s heavier and it don’t fold up as good as the challenge but other wise I loved it… I’m in a rig now so got rid but would still recommend
Thank you so much about your description. I am looking for a seat and when you said you needed something for your back, that answered my question about the lumber support.
Great Review! I sell my Playseat because its not that stable if you play Dirt Rallye and put extra weight on it like 2 Shifters. Feels like you are on a boat with big waves from side to side. But the NLR F-GT Lite looks good. I was skeptical about the stability, but it looks fine.
Hey Karl, love this video! Would like to ask something, my apologies if you mentioned it in the video but it just flew by my head. Am sure quite a few of us may want to know as I believe there are many "desk racers" out there like myself. Of course a wheel stand is a great solution but having a dedicated racing cockpit that can be stored away also appeals to us. I noticed that in the video the GT position can be set up to be fairly tall; but question is, if I were to place the F-GT Lite right in front of my computer desk(maybe adjust the monitor further up front and at it's lowest height setting), would it be still too low to have a comfortable experience? I believe a common table height we have here is about 73 or so centimeters( or 29 inches)
Monitor may be a little high but not much, the biggest problem is how far away you will be, unless your monitor is huge everything will look tiny and in the distance! lol
Thanks Karl. Question: if you would be looking purely at rigidity, could you tell a difference between fgt lite and gt lite? I wonder what effect the adjustable levers have on the rigidity overall when in gt mode. Keep up the good work.
Found your channel today, have to say I love the reviews! I do have 1 question though... Would you say it is acceptable to put any sort of direct drive wheel on a foldable cockpit? I have my head set on the fanatec dd entry level wheel base and have very limited space so a foldable is kind of a must for me. Would it be possible to see a review of a DD hub on this seat?
I don't have this cockpit anymore but if you look in my video's (or search) I test the CSL DD on the Playseat Challenge which is basically identical to this from a rigidity point of view.
Karl, as always a great video! Your insights and how you analyze things is always spot on and helpful! Quick odd question about the cockpit... do you know average what is the eye height for someone from your height when in GT position? I am about the same height and my setup has a little quirk regarding the height due to the screen...
Awesome review! Would you be able to take measurement of how high the seat is from the ground when it is in the GT position? I am currently watching the video so I am sorry if you already did this and they are further into it.
Setting it up every time is a pain. And it does take up more space when folded then I thought. Maybe should have gone with the playseat. All that said it is still a good product. When I get a place with more room I think this will be great until I can get a real rig
It's a matter of habit, after a some weeks using it i'found my perfect postions (f1 gt intermediate and folded) and i put stickers on the clicks i want for each position so i am able to change posistion in less than 2 mins, just a matter of habits
Looks ok i wouldn't swap it for my playseat challenge, way too much hassle getting that setup and putting it back away its so bulky folded aswell which isn't good
Thanks for the review. I'd imagine if you slackened the pedal slider and pushed the pedals closer to the chair it might fold up into a tighter package?
48:30 According to the manual and the official video of them folding it up. The strap is actually for when the seat is positioned in GT mode and not for storage.
Thats very expensive for what it is (£700), for £20 LESS you can buy a GT Omega Prime with RS6 seat and that's a full size aluminium profile cockpit... in fact even cheaper if you use my discount link.
if I'm 6'3 245 Libs. Would a playseat challenge be way to snug? trying to decide between this and the playseat challenge. you're video comparing the two is amazing btw
I think I'm in the same boat, haven't had the playseat challenge myself, but just setting up this seat every time is such a hassle... It's also because there's more options with how you set it up, that is what takes all of the time. Once you've got it setup it's a nice seat, but then you have to put it back and next time you take it out, you have all of this work again to find the right seating position. All in all, alot of work and still quite bulky when folded away. I think the playseat Challenge would be a better fit for just quick setting up and folding away.
@@Rengah i do have this seat and i draw a line for each position so i just have to align all color lines and i got the position i want in less than 2 minutes, it's just a mmater of habits
@@verveblack on the side of the moving parts so when i align all blue lines on every parts i have my gt position, red for f1 etc so i never search for it
Awesome review. Transparent and well done. Did you ever find a 'better' seat-back position than what you had here, in the Formula-position? Thanks again!
What if in the Formula position you keep the seat back one click but lift the back leg steeper by one click? That looks like it would have the seat at the right angle perhaps
Thank you for reviewing this! I’m getting the shifter soon and I want it to be on the left side, is there any problems when you shift? Like, the strap is in the way, the wheel stabilizing bar thing is in the way? Any problems or is it all good?
Your way of folding is actually way better than NLR's. With a newly purchased Fanatec GT DD Pro 8nM, i tried to follow NLR's video then BAM - the whole wheelbase fell and slammed onto the floor where the heavy clubsport V3 pedal sits 😢 goodbye to resell value
Hey Karl, great vid, very comprehensive! I chose the Playseat Challenge instead of this as I was concerned, as the seat stretched over time, that you would be end up resting on those cross bars. Your thoughts?
Thanks again Karl! From both your videos I would say the Playseat wins in compactness which is why you would want one of these. Would the F-GT lite's seemingly better rigidity and mounting for the pedals have it ahead? I think I have the Playseat ahead overall by a hair.
Great video karl. Looks like I'm gonna have to pick one of these up. Unlike the playseat challenge it looks like you could attach a buttkicker to the bar at the bottom of your back.
Do you know what size the screws are for the assembly? I just bought one on eBay and don’t think I have all of the screws and wanted to go to the hardware store. FYI I’m pretty sure I have all the screws for mountain wheel/pedals.
I just purchased one and i like it...there is a major issue in the GT position though...the steering wheel is too close to you and there is nothing you can do about it, i tried tilting the back just one step lower but it gets too far :( tried the same with the wheel position and also goes too far with just one step...... The stepped adjustments are really large...i just wished that it had Small adjustments... I'm having this issue when using Thrustmaster T300 wheel, when i used it with the G29 it was further away and was ok.
Hi Karl, Great review! I've got a G29 + Playseat at the moment and I am planning to upgrade to Fanatec Load cell + F GT Lite. Would you say this seat has got enough rigidity to handle load cell braking without twisting / hopping? The Playseat tends to do that on braking.
I'm also interested about it... I just got my new custom Fana set, and I'm interested, does the f-gt lite works fine with load cell pedales on formula position?
Good stuff! One thing I'm wondering and maybe you can help me out, is there a way to use the pedal deck and shifter mount from this one onto a playseat challenge? I like the fact that you can screw the pedals in (like you've mentioned) and also curious about the shifter mount. Not to mention, being able to get those separately is a different question altogether.
Know this is an old video but I have a playseat challenge ATM and wondered if this was much of an upgrade, could the shifter mount be used for a thrustmaster handbrake instead?
thank you for this review, sir. so to Karl or anyone else reading in the comments, which one should i go with???? Next Level Racing F-GT Lite or the Playseat Challenge??
May I ask which rally game you played during the review? looks pretty smooth. Got myself the playseat Challenge and this one looks like a step up. (specially on the pedals part)
@@KarlGosling also forgot to say, if next level would sell the pedal platform on its own, I would buy it for the play seat. It looks like it would hook well on the playseat challenge.
Do you think this seat can handle DD wheel base and load cell brakes? I don't have the room for a permanent solution- it's either something that can fold away or or their DD wheel stand.
@@KarlGosling thanks for the quick reply. With the launch of Gran Turismo 7 and the fanatec bundle, there’s finally a feasible DD option for me- think i’ll go with the Next Level DD stand and a different chair. Thanks dude!
Hi I know that this video is quite old but there is stil hope that u'll answer. I've got wheel stand pro for g27 and POLONEZ CARO 'sport' seat. Is it good idea to swap to f-gt lite? It's not expensive so it woudlnt hurt my wallet but im afraid of quality. I've 120 kg weight.
Hehehe, hard to tell, but you look like a pretty big guy. But that thing look like a throne whith you in it lol!💪😁👌 Really adjustable, and I like that they added a shifter mount!👍
Hi. I purchased one of these with a Logitec g920 for the Xbox but struggling to get used to it. Is there a good place to look so I can learn how to change the settings for forza horizon 4 and forza 7?
one more question, i want to get the Fanatec Clubsport Shifter SQ v1.5, & i have the logitec g27 wheel, will the shifter work with that wheel? & will both of them fit this F-GT Lite?
This and the Playseat Challenge is the gateway drug to the sim racing addiction!
I just bought this F-GT Lite and I was addicted beforehand, but truthfully, so much better than my old desk haha!
@Bru Rred It's not really about the padding when they have the design of a lawn chair. If your a large guy I'd go for the FGT over the playseat challenge due to how narrow the playseat is.

Looks ok i wouldn't swap it for my playseat challenge, way too much hassle getting that setup and putting it back away its so bulky folded aswell which isn't good
All of your reviews are great! Thank you!
My pleasure!
Thanks for the review. I'd imagine if you slackened the pedal slider and pushed the pedals closer to the chair it might fold up into a tighter package?
It might do a little mate yes.
Looks excellent mines coming tomorrow can't wait ....
Excellent!
You won't be able to fold it like on pic if you have same pedals as Karl and me that's why he had issues.

According to the manual and the official video of them folding it up.
Great video I love how it folds down
Good review Karl, I’m using one of those v-rocker fold ups. The quality on this is definitely a big step up from mine.
Totally agree
if I'm 6'3 245 Libs. Would a playseat challenge be way to snug? trying to decide between this and the playseat challenge. you're video comparing the two is amazing btw
Thanks mate!
You will definitely be snug in the Playseat... too snug? Hmm maybe.
Great review but for me it’s just to much hassle with that seat lol Personally I prefer my Playseat Challenge 🙂
@@colingoichot4245 draw a line where?
@@verveblack on the side of the moving parts so when i align all blue lines on every parts i have my gt position, red for f1 etc so i never search for it
I've got the GT Pro V2 from next level and it's great for the price.
Really helpful... getting one ahead of a potential second lockdown!! Cheers 👍🏻🏎
Awesome review. Transparent and well done. Did you ever find a 'better' seat-back position than what you had here, in the Formula-position? Thanks again!
I didn't mate no.
What if in the Formula position you keep the seat back one click but lift the back leg steeper by one click? That looks like it would have the seat at the right angle perhaps
Maybe mate.
Great review Karl. Out of the F-GT Lite, GT Lite and playseat Challenge which one do you sit in a more upright position.
Both adjustable, but probably the NLR offerings.
Thank you for reviewing this! I’m getting the shifter soon and I want it to be on the left side, is there any problems when you shift? Like, the strap is in the way, the wheel stabilizing bar thing is in the way? Any problems or is it all good?
No all fine when I use it mate.
Nice, Thanks Bud.... Mines is ordered and should be here tomorrow.....💪👊
Enjoy it
I just found you channel awesome, do you think this can hold a CSL Elite and how much flex do you think it will have?
It sure can, yes there will be some flex.. but ultimately you only buy a fold-able cockpit because you have to, so it will be what it will be :)
@@KarlGosling awesome thanks for the answer, yea I don’t have space at my house for something bigger sadly.
Just bought one using your link, hopefully adds a couple more quid to the coffers. 👍
Nice review mate. I just got one of these and its fantastic for my simming needs. Highly recommended. New sub too! 👍
Thanks mate!
Hey Karl, great vid, very comprehensive! I chose the Playseat Challenge instead of this as I was concerned, as the seat stretched over time, that you would be end up resting on those cross bars. Your thoughts?
If the material does stretch then yes you will for sure.
Thanks again Karl! From both your videos I would say the Playseat wins in compactness which is why you would want one of these. Would the F-GT lite's seemingly better rigidity and mounting for the pedals have it ahead? I think I have the Playseat ahead overall by a hair.
Take a look at my back to back comparison video mate :)
Hahaha my bad, I've actually already watched it but for some reason I thought that was a comparison with FGT not the FGT Lite.
Great video karl. Looks like I'm gonna have to pick one of these up. Unlike the playseat challenge it looks like you could attach a buttkicker to the bar at the bottom of your back.
You could mate yes!
You can also do this with playseat. I have done so 🤨🤔
I would like to know what would be the seat height and total length, please?
Thanks!
Keep up the good work!
Do you know what size the screws are for the assembly? I just bought one on eBay and don’t think I have all of the screws and wanted to go to the hardware store. FYI I’m pretty sure I have all the screws for mountain wheel/pedals.
How comfortable is the chair ? So you find the plastic clamps scratch the outside of your thighs ?
I guess maybe watch the review?! lol
So glad I got the Playseat Challenge. This is just way too complicated to fold up. Potential to damage the shifter and the wheel is just too high.
Hi Karl,
Great review!
I've got a G29 + Playseat at the moment and I am planning to upgrade to Fanatec Load cell + F GT Lite. Would you say this seat has got enough rigidity to handle load cell braking without twisting / hopping?
The Playseat tends to do that on braking.
This doesn't lift like the PSC under hard braking.
@@KarlGosling Good to know. Thanks Karl, always looking out for a new video from yourself. Keep at it!
I'm also interested about it... I just got my new custom Fana set, and I'm interested, does the f-gt lite works fine with load cell pedales on formula position?
Very detailed review, Karl, imbued with your unique sense of humour ;-) Great work, matey!
Glad you enjoyed it mate! lol
Pedal deck yes shifter mount no.
Know this is an old video but I have a playseat challenge ATM and wondered if this was much of an upgrade, could the shifter mount be used for a thrustmaster handbrake instead?
There's no much in it really, this is just bigger.
thank you for this review, sir. so to Karl or anyone else reading in the comments, which one should i go with???? Next Level Racing F-GT Lite or the Playseat Challenge??
See my comparison video mate, that may answer your question! :)
What are you using the clutch for?? E-Brake??
Maybe if you slide the pedals down a bit, the foot-rest will fold in tighter?
May I ask which rally game you played during the review? looks pretty smooth. Got myself the playseat Challenge and this one looks like a step up. (specially on the pedals part)
Dirt Rally 2.0
@@KarlGosling Thank you, been on assetto corsa for way too long :)
@@KarlGosling also forgot to say, if next level would sell the pedal platform on its own, I would buy it for the play seat. It looks like it would hook well on the playseat challenge.
thanks for these reviews, it really helps a noob like me to choose between playseat and this ;)
Glad to help!
The other strap goes under the back leg to pedal legs to keep from lifting up
Do you think this seat can handle DD wheel base and load cell brakes? I don't have the room for a permanent solution- it's either something that can fold away or or their DD wheel stand.
The CSL DD yes, anything more not really no, unless you turned the torque down.
LC Brake yes but again you would have to run it soft.
@@KarlGosling thanks for the quick reply. With the launch of Gran Turismo 7 and the fanatec bundle, there’s finally a feasible DD option for me- think i’ll go with the Next Level DD stand and a different chair. Thanks dude!
This is a very cool idea I have both a solid rig and a playseat challenge and I would swap both for one of those
And in regards to the formula seating position you could maybe try adjusting those bars with the pins in to get that extra recline?
That would also take my feet further from the pedals but might work.
I'm a big boi, is there any width adjustment on the steering cage?
Hi I know that this video is quite old but there is stil hope that u'll answer. I've got wheel stand pro for g27 and POLONEZ CARO 'sport' seat. Is it good idea to swap to f-gt lite? It's not expensive so it woudlnt hurt my wallet but im afraid of quality. I've 120 kg weight.
Right off the bat I'd say the playseat looks better. I also have one so I'm biased to it lol.
I just ordered mine and I was your 1000th like!😀
Nice!! :)
Hehehe, hard to tell, but you look like a pretty big guy. But that thing look like a throne whith you in it lol!💪😁👌
Really adjustable, and I like that they added a shifter mount!👍
Thank you
Using a Fanatec USB adapter yes.
Both will fit the F-GT lite yes mate.
@@KarlGosling ok thanks!
Hey Karl! Is it adjustable for say a 12 year old. I don’t want my son to not be able to touch the pedals or whatever.
Thanks for the review!
Hmm hard for me to say mate, will depend how tall he is, there is a fair bit of adjustment but I can't say for sure.
@@KarlGosling Okay no problem. Thanks mate
You're awesome at these reviews. I love your videos 👍
I appreciate that!
Very helpful review. Thank you Karl 👍🏻
Is the material of the frame steel or aluminum
Great review fella keep them vids coming 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
There is:
- Next level racing F-GT
-Playseat challenge
Do you know others brands who build same type off playseats?
Cheaper alternative would be the X Rocker XR Racing Circuit Chair
