Great review, really had no questions after watching this. Bought one and have enjoyed it for a while with my Thrustmaster Tsxw. @@bp8__163 It works great. There is movment in the hole rig but mostly from vibrations and nothing that disturbs the felling when racing. Maybe the opposite, makes it more realistic. Haha No jokes aside, i am really happy with how the DD2 and and my NLR F-GT works togheter, but do keep in mind that I have nothing to compare with because this is my first rig.
It’s been 3 years since I’ve watched this review and owned my F-GT rig and it still looks as new as the day I bought it, and I literally used it every day. I just upgraded to the CSL DD Pro 8nm and I must say this rig looks as modern and attractive as any on the market. I suppose for all those reasons I haven’t replaced mine!
@@MarkNOTW for the first two years I used it in the formula position and didn’t have any neck issues. Rather, I was getting cramps in my abs and brake foot from the resistance of the sponge block. The seat padding wasn’t the most comfortable so I took out the two lower sections and put softer pillow that conforms to my back. If I didn’t have the FGT rig already, I’d probably lean towards the GT track version with the recliner and bolsters. The GT position is easier to get in and out of.
Planning to get a DD pro (8nm and loadcell brake). Do you think this is a viable option for this setup? I was thinking of getting F-GT Lite given it's much cheaper but feel F-GT may be better at managing torque and loadcell pressure.
I have seen a few reviews of this rig and this is the most comprehensive yet not too time consuming. You knocked it out of the park again. If I did not have a good rig already, I would be looking at this as a possible candidate.
thats some back to the future pedal set..... great review and video man. really covered all aspects. you have convinced me as for a long time i was looking for a dual purpose rig, dirt gt and formula all sorted, and for a reasonable price.
Great review, Shaun! I enjoyed my F-GT Cockpit too. My main complaint I'd say with this cockpit is the fact that the shifter mount has next to no adjustability... Then, the seat isn't the most comfortable, but it's perfectly serviceable.
Only thing I wish is that the adjustments were toolless. It would be really nice to be able to just hop off and get it all adjusted in a minute or so when switching games without breaking out tools. I'd want to be able to use it for the immersion of being in a similar seating position to the car I'm driving.
Great review of the product, but I wouldn’t count the fact that it sits so low on the ground as a con, I mean real f1 cars actually sit lower if you take away the chasis, it’s almost like the drivers are lying in a jacuzzi or bathtub. But there’s the comfort given that their chairs are custom made for their bodies. However it’s not all that padded though.
I bought one of these second hand. Missing hardware for seat adjustment. Is mounted instead. Put it all together based on assumptions.. This video helped me re-do things correctly.. I guess downloading and reading a manual would also help.. ;-)
To anyone in the future who buys this rig and is having a terrible hell of a time lining up the holes on the seat back with the bracket....PUT THE SCREWS IN THE SEAT BACK FIRST! Let them sit in there for a few minutes and tighten them as far down as possible. This will make the holes more accessible to find since the screws kind of bore out the seat leather. Then remove them and try and line up the holes like before. I hope that makes sense. I was able to attach seat fine after doing that. Also, screw them in from the bottom up and alternate sides as you go up.
Had mine for a year now. No need to upgrade, all is still solid. I have no movement on my base plate so i guess this is a minor issue on some of them that i luckily dont have. Iv used it in the gt setting about 3 times but due to its akward position its permanently in the f1 setting. Get one!!
Thanks so much for the video in particular the SHH Shifter mount since im using the GT-Lite the foldable one. I was concerned if the SHH Shifter would interfere with the GT-Lite seat mechanism but judging from your video i think im good. I tried to find other people with my same setup but no luck until i found this video which was extremely helpful to me thx man!
I watched this video when I was contemplating whether or not to get it and I'm glad I did. My only problem is entering and leaving the rig 😅 I guess cause it's so narrow. But I am so happy I got this rig.
Thank you for testing the Bodner, I was planning on getting this for my Accuforce. I know it's not the best but I have limited space in my condo so I appreciate the size of the unit. I know it says it would handle DD wheels but I was skeptical.
I've yet to see anyone do a setup/build/install video and use wire loom to hide the cables. It cleans things up so much better and comes in almost any color!!
I can say I thoroughly enjoy mine. I like to keep it in f1 seating position I find it more comfortable on my lower back and the TV is perfect height with my vision. Great review 👏
Excellent and very thorough review. I've been looking at getting a new rig for the past few days having sold my playseat challenge as it was so extremely uncomfortable. I was looking at gt omega ART and a couple of others but after seeing your awesome review I'm gonna definately pull the trigger on the fgt. Cheers 👍
I am currently playing on my desk, and it is painful (mostly on my back and neck). I will stack up and buy me one of these. For dirt rally 2.0 it would be amazing.
I am considering buying either the F-GT or the GT Lite. I like the perceived sturdyness that I would get from the F-GT, but I'm worried that it's going to take too much space in my studio and I won't have an easy way to store it when I stop using it. That is why I am kind of leaning towards the GT lite and its ability to be folded away easily. But given my heavy weight, I am worried that it will prove flimsy for me. Money is not a huge issue, but I do like that the GT Lite is half the price.
I really like this seat. I like the adjustability and I like the quality of the build, (as I've seen this and tried it in person.) The people behind this company really care about making a quality product.
did yours not come with the extra pieces to stiffen up the rig? both for the wheel and pedal mounts obviously makes it harder to get into the rig if you put the wheel mount ones but makes it feel solid.
I Just got this rig It is heavy. If you have to move the shipping box, get someone. There is no way you can manipulate this alone unless you start doing pivot movements or drag it on the floor and then you will damage your parts or hurt yourself. The 2024 version does not have holes in the bottom rear section. It is a slider system just like in the front whereas you can slide your crossbar in the back. The seat is heavy and a bit awkward to install. The biggest bad point of this whole rig is the fact that the headrest points too much inwards and might annoy some people if you put the seat up straight. The seat is really designed for F1 style racing.... a big disappointment, but you can save the rig buy buying seat brackets later and a new seat. The no trouble install says to buy the NLR brackets and seat so that it is easier to install and deal with but i have seen other people install different seats without too much of a fuss so the rig can be upgraded. Another sour point is that fact that the plate to install your wheel ( direct drive ) does not have a real angle forward for some reason. It will tilt back for a F style wheel deck but will not bend upwards and forwards. So if your wheel is straight like mine ( MOZA R9 ) you are S-L unless your find an angle deck which does not yet exist or you can 3d print yourself and angle deck to at least get an angle on your wheel. That is another big problem with this rig. The price is not good TBH. It is expensive and the seat should be way better than this, but since it is still available after such a long time i am assuming that it is a good seller for NLR. The whole thing feels massive and solid. The parts feel like metal as they are very heavy. It does not feel aluminium like. I could be wrong on that. The whole set up is fairly easy to assemble... 3-4 hours +- depending how slow or fast you want to go with this. Later on... Honestly to me if feels like an aluminium rig in the way of its form and adjustability. You can tweak and re-tweak this rig easily and it also has a very small footprint. If it was not for the seat i would say buy this right away and you will be all set, but i would say buy it and soon later by a kit of seat brackets for it and then start saving for a better seat. It beats the foldable cockpit bar none and with the included foots you can easily move it around and break it appart with a bit of work if you have to move to another place. It would not take you a full day like a full on aluminium profile.
The handle for the seat adjustment is waay too long. i don't understand why they put is so long... Maybe it's a thing needed when in formula mode but i hit the back on my leg several times when getting in and out of my rig. I am gonna put my dremel metal blade to this piece of pure garbage and shorten it to a reasonable length and put something on the tip of it I am gonna keep a pair of vise grips close by and will use it to twist that rod to adjust the seat. I have tested it several times in that way and it works out proper. That was.... bad design if you ask me in gt mode and i plan on possible getting another seat later on so it is not a deal breaker.
Thanks for the review! I'm trying to decide between getting this rig, or converting my Next Level Racing Wheel stand into the GT Ultimate. I feel the actual wheel deck on this one is going to serve me better in the long run though. With the seat mounting... can it be swapped out and a normal sport seat be swapped in? I'd be using it in GT mode only anyway.
im having issues with my knees banging on the table, only just got it with my CLS DD and cant eve race. either the wheel is too high up at face level... or its too low and im banging my knees... or, the pedals are too far away.... cant find a medium...
If I’m right you get stiffness kits for the pedalplate and wheelbaseplate for free if you order it now Do you think this would make it a better product?
I was in your EXACT position myself when I somehow stumbled upon an online ad for this cockpit 7 days ago. I saw what I assumed was some misprint, with it for only $399.99 at BH Photo PLUS they paid the sales tax too. So off I went and ended up ordering it. Even better was the shipping! 2 days from their New York location to me in Oceanside California...FREE! Could not believe it. I sat in a neighbors GT Omega but he has the Art RS6 which is what I had on order myself with Omega. What REALLY pissed me off BIG TIME was I had to do what they called a "PREORDER with it back in stock Jan 15. Well of course we assumed they would NOT take the actual MONEY until in stock and the item shipped right? Wrong...So I emailed them and got a refund-and I ordered this. I LOVE this thing. Over 100 pounds but slides across the carpet in our living room like floating on air with the furniture coaster thingies she put under each frame member. SO MUCH MORE ROOM! NO more banging my legs/knees under that wheel clamp! Oh, and THIS has NONE of that flexing in the middle the GT Omega has where it connects in the midsection area etc. I'm sure they are both great but just so happy I found that pop up ad when I was window shopping a week ago-) I think both are the only 2 I could be at all happy with myself. One thing however is in ALL the reviews I watched here they refer to the GT Omega as the "Entry Level" and this Next Level as the "MID Level". I think that also moved me a LOT to jump ship? And NOW I see they never did even get in stock and they just emailed me saying they now HOPE for the END of February That is just INSANE and I will just never get UNpissed off about them taking my CASH upfront at GT Omega...NOT cool.
I got it and I am extremely happy with it. However, I am trying to find a solution for the pedal plate flexing. It feels like it’s eating away the holes used to adjust the angle.
Shaun, will a Buttkicker work while in the F1 position? It looked like the clearance was pretty tight and may only work in the GT position. Thanks in advance.
ThX for this review Sean but I’m still waiting on the RSeat triple monitor stand and I hope you show how close I can put the triple monitor stand to the wheel
how the heck does yours move like that with the sliders? i use the lever thing in front of the chair and kinda twist it and the chair just doesn't move.
For the price, I will always recommend the Simetik K2. Now, about this rig, hows the seat? It doesnt look that good/durable at all, like it wouldnt last more than a year before it starts to fall apart.
I would not agree about the seat. I currently have a traditional fabric race seat on my Bob Earl Mark 2 rig. I can confirm the fabric starts to tear after a while. I've seen this seat in person, and believe it should last a long time.
Problem for me is most of the higher end rigs like the simtek, simlabs etc etc... is they have to ship from the other side of the Atlantic assuming they even offer that. To ship a lot of them doubles the original price
Again, said this on two other comments but the K2 with everything factored in ends up double the price of the FGT, also with the extra hassle of having to find a seperate seat. The K2 can't be compared to the FGT as they are actually very different price points. €275 looks very attractive sure, add VAT, the shifter mount and shipping (UK)... €450 is more like it and that's before you even think about the seat! Looking at closer to £600 or euros with everything you get straight out of the box with the FGT that is £350 here in the UK.
my F-GT shows up in a couple days i currently have my monitor mounted on the wall for a rig that i used my computer chair with, so fairly up right. Im trying to find online but not having luck (probably because it depends on alot of things) but what is the height of your monitors? like to the center of them. My the center of my 42 inch monitor is about 43 inches off the floor. IM thinking that might be too high
Hi, thanks for the review! I have the playseat as we speak but it squeaks a lot and it’s getting annoying. So my question would be does it squeaks? (Spring noise in the seat I guess)
@@ChrisPBacon9 At least for me, the Obutto is almost $100 more. Arguably worth it but it depends on how much $100 is for you although it's very frustrating that shipping is almost 25% of the cost
Thank you for posting the actual width of this unit assembled. On the NLR website they list the width at 24”, which means it wouldn’t fit with their own branded freestanding Monitor Stand which has an inner leg opening of 23”. Your video confirms the f-gt is 21” and will with the monitor stand.
It is nice your video, thank you for all the information. How high is your screen. In position F1 what is the height of your head to fix the screen; The FGT will be in my office and I am working and playing with the same screen so I need to know if I can have the F GT and not have to cringe too much. I am around 80cm-85cm Thank you

I ordered the trak racer TR8 Mach 2. This next level rig looks very uncomfortable.
Is the seat included ?
For formula style you would need a formula style wheel ;)
Great review!! Research is done.
F1GT is my oficial racing sin seat. !!!
What about the F1 Playseat?
To expensive for my budget.
Make sure you get f-gt not f1gt
I got it and I am extremely happy with it. However, I am trying to find a solution for the pedal plate flexing. It feels like it’s eating away the holes used to adjust the angle.
I just can't assemble the seat angle adjusters. Any help please. Thanks
Shaun, will a Buttkicker work while in the F1 position? It looked like the clearance was pretty tight and may only work in the GT position. Thanks in advance.
When in the formula position did you find your neck being strained in that forward position?
Are you able to have both the shifter and the handbrake on the shifter plate? Do they both fit?
Question... does the pedal plate swing up to 90 degrees? Want to place my t3pa pedals inverted.
Thanks
Do you know the measurement between the front of the rig to the top of the pedal deck is? I wanna make sure it sits under my desk properly
ThX for this review Sean but I’m still waiting on the RSeat triple monitor stand and I hope you show how close I can put the triple monitor stand to the wheel
Great review. You may have just sold another F-GT rig. :)
Im itching to buy it as well. Not too fond of the pedal flex but its such a great price point.
how the heck does yours move like that with the sliders? i use the lever thing in front of the chair and kinda twist it and the chair just doesn't move.
K2 all the way. Also because you can replace the seat very easily and cheap.
Seat looks the same build quality as the previous f1gt which injave had for 2 years and still like new. .thats with at least 3 hours a day use
No one has mentioned the gulf shoes? I want
Hi, thanks for the review! I have the playseat as we speak but it squeaks a lot and it’s getting annoying. So my question would be does it squeaks? (Spring noise in the seat I guess)
I don’t like that you have to hold your head up… no head support?
Isn't the Obutto Ozone around the same price if not a little cheaper and comes with a keyboard / mouse tray and shifter mount.
You get buttfucked on shipping that thing tho. This one gets free shipping from amazon
Your video confirms the f-gt is 21” and will with the monitor stand.
what about back support for those that have a glass back?
It is nice your video, thank you for all the information.
How high is your screen.
In position F1 what is the height of your head to fix the screen;
The FGT will be in my office and I am working and playing with the same screen so I need to know if I can have the F GT and not have to cringe too much.
I am around 80cm-85cm
Thank you
Does it also fit fanatec podium? Dd1 wheelbase
Are there castors for the chair in the package?
Hi does this for the next level v3 motion platform?
18:04 lol love it
Think it's possible to put my own seat on here?
I use mine for flight simming
How much space is really needed? It says 1.4m in length With gt Position and 1.7m in formula Position
Would love to know if thats true as some Videos state u need around 2 Meter of space
Except as I put it all together, even though this thing says it is drilled for accuforce it's not
