  • Following on from the success of the F-GT Lite, Next Level Racing has launched a second foldable sim racing cockpit, called the GT Lite. Even though it’s basically a GT-only version of the F-GT Lite, it could be more appealing to some sim racers. Find out why in this review.

    I've owned and used this another for 6 months playing gt7 and I love it for it's storage but the only drawback I have found is the steering wheel mount. Your wheel attaches to a plate on a bar which is wrenched down with a single piece. Unfortunately only having that single point to secure it to a single bar I have found the tightening screw stripping itself by boring into the plastic casing and causing the wheel mount to move up and down during driving. It usually isn't a problem because the racing wheel rarely gets pushed up and down but can happen when in some heated races, forcing you to adjust mid race, which can be a disastrous. Luckily the clamps that are used to keep the wheel on the plate attached to the bar rest on my legs and keep the wheel from moving down. Because of this the clamps do dig into my thighs and can leave bruises or leave me sore. This product would be flawless if the single point screwdown for the wheel had two points of contact instead of one and would be much more sturdy

    Ive owned and used this for over a year now. zero issues with my CSL DD. Takes the 8nm with ease in my oinion and I dont feel Im missing feedback...sure it might not eel as strong if it were more rigid but do you feel that will change your driving? I really don't. For what it is this is the best budget cockpit that has seat and all shifter mounts right out the box. Very durable too. I sfold seat forward and slide away from my PC setup and can be playing a non racing game within minutes. At my PC desk I use a monitor arm to swing forward and out my monitor...a must have! imma pick one of these up, get a piece of sheet metal and mount it on top of the wheel base mount coming out to the right side for my hydro handbrake, I run my handbrake right by the wheel as that's just what I've gotten used to, this is the cheapest chassis I can find that has the shifter in the right location and it seems simple enough to modify it for my handbrake placement

      Thanks for your question Ernie. For sure, you should be able to use the clamp to secure the Thrustmaster T150 on the wheel deck without any problems. You may, however, need to adjust the position of the wheel deck forward to allow more space for the clamp-this is really easy to do (7:00). Hello and thanks for the review! I'm just thinking about which of the two models to buy.
    On the pictures of the F-GT Lite it looks as if the shifter is positioned further below and on the GT a little further up (which I think is better) Can that be? Or do they have the same position?

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your question Dome. Both the GT Lite and F-GT Lite have the same wheel mount, front leg and shifter plate design. So the shifter position is in exactly the same place on both rigs. If you know that you will only be racing in a GT driving position, then I would recommend opting for the GT Lite. It’s a little bit cheaper, so you can put the extra saving towards a better wheel and pedal set. On the other hand, the F-GT Lite gives you the option to race in a formula position if you ever wanted to.

    Just got this a few days ago. It was great until I realized that the swivel entry is useless if I'm placing my gear shifter to the right. I need to hop over the cable which is annoying. Placing it to the left is flawless but I'm not used to right-hand driving (US-based). Also, assembling the shifter plate is exhaustive because aligning the screw holes is too hard.

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience Ethan. I hadn't considered how a left-hand drive setup would affect the swivel entry. One solution could be to use some cable ties and a USB cable extension (if needed) to run your shifter cable down the front leg of the rig and across to the left-hand side, to keep it out of your way. Do you think this would help?

    Great review! What do you think about putting the new CSL DD on the GT Lite since it only has peak torque of 5Nm?

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  3 роки тому +6

      Thanks for your question comp, I’m stoked you liked the review. The wheel deck on both the GT Lite and F-GT Lite is pre-drilled for Fanatec wheels (6:42), so you should have no problems there. In order to access the triangle mounting pattern for Fanatec wheels, you just need to adjust the position of the wheel deck forward. With a peak torque of 5Nm-without the optional boost kit-on the CSL DD, however, you may lose some of the feedback through vibrations in the frame. That being said, I tested the rig with my Thrustmaster TX at 100% force feedback (peak torque 3.9Nm) and I didn’t notice any movement when racing. So, since you will likely be running force feedback at less than 100%, I think this combo will make for a good experience. Hope that helps. 👍

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment iLLu-I'm stoked you liked the review. I think the GT Lite could just about handle the Fanatec DD Pro or CSL DD (at 5Nm). However, I think you'll have a better experience with the Wheel Stand 2.0 ( ua-cam.com/video/RZEVk902xBc/v-deo.html ), as it's much more sturdy. Hope that helps. 👍

      No worries @@janillutv. In this case, the GT Lite or F-GT Lite ( ua-cam.com/video/B9w_4PwtAj4/v-deo.html ) are probably your best options. In my opinion, these are the best foldable rigs on the market today. You should be fine running a DD Pro, but be sure to tighten up the supporting strap. You can also utlise the extra webbing for maximum rigidity (6:00) and reduce your force feedback settings if needed. 👍

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comment Christian. The folding process is a little tricky to explain, but I demonstrate the rough method I use in the video (3:04). To fold the rig into the a vertical configuration, that can be lent against a wall, you need to first tilt the wheel mount assembly backwards to allow space for the pedal deck to fold up and secure underneath it. I hope that makes sense. I would suggest experimenting a bit to see what works for you and the space you have to work with. 👍

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for your question xk104. To clarify, I'm not saying that the GT Lite couldn't handle a small DD wheel. However, it's not strong enough to get the most out of the extra torque; you'll simple lose most of it through vibrations in the frame. However, you could increase the rigidity of the frame using extra straps. I recently tested out the GT Lite Pro, which does just that, and it handled my CSL DD well ( ua-cam.com/video/JJpJ7OPT9Lw/v-deo.html ). Hope that helps. 👍

    I have 3x 27" 1440p mounted to a triple monitor bar clamped to the back of my large Steelcase Desk. The bottom of my monitors are about 36" off the ground and 32" away from where I think ill be seated in one of these rigs. I am a bit afraid of being too low in the GT Lite if it is indeed shorter seat height.

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comment John-I'm glad you found the review useful. I think the default height of both the F-GT Lite and GT Lite (in the GT position) is actually the same, since they share the same front leg design. This can be increased in height by up to 12cm (4.7 inches). However, on the GT Lite you can increase the height of the back leg as well; so this may be a better option for you.
      For reference, in this video, I'm running the GT Lite in a lower position and my monitor is about 81 cm (32 inches) off the ground. Hope that helps. 👍

      @@ADAPTNetwork Thanks for getting back to me, I looked around for a bit, and unbeknownst to me, they did actually address this. There are 4 screws in the bottom of the LG Shifter, It calls to take those 4 out. 2 of them are quite easy to get to, and the other 2 are about 4inches deep into the Shifter, but when these are taken off the clamp used to clip the shifter to a desk or table then comes off, allowing the shifter ample room to be secured via the enclosed screws that the Next Level Cockpit comes with. I have everything set up now. I am absolutely satisfied with the setup. It feels quite organic and comfortable between positions 1 and 2 kinda have a hybrid laid-back but upright still position that gives me enough of both worlds that I can seamlessly go from GT racing on Assetto Corsa, to FH5 over to F121 with ease.

      @@tomasjari9412 I bought it and returned it days later as didn't have loads of space in my living room, it's larger and heavier than I thought and isn't easily foldable to just setup and put away, since i bought a wheel stand Pro v2

      If it helps @@tomasjari9412, you can easily detach the pedal stand entirely. This will likely fit in your space, buy you'll need to work out a solution for the pedals.

    Great video but the product sucks, you can't add handbrake, just the shifter, I don't know why they do this. The wheel stand 2.0 is better on this point (and it does a big dif for me).

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment Kass-I'm glad you liked the review. For sure, it's a shame the GT Lite doesn't come with a handbrake mount in addition to the shifter mount. I assume Next Level Racing looked a the rig's target market and felt it was better to reduce the retail price instead. For those looking to mount a handbrake to the GT Lite, it might be worth looking at the F-GT Lite/GT Lite Flight Pack ( adaptnet.work/4WQW ). Otherwise, like Kass says, the Wheel Stand 2.0 is another great option ( ua-cam.com/video/RZEVk902xBc/v-deo.html ).

    that strap out front is in the wrong place...it goes underneath the chair

    • @ADAPTNetwork
      @ADAPTNetwork  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment HFX. Next Level Racing recommends using the extra webbing, as I demonstrated in the video, to reduce flex in the wheel mount assembly ( ua-cam.com/video/KZGbnqTcVGI/v-deo.html ). However, like you say, you could also use it underneath the chair to reduce the strain on the back leg. 👍

      Thanks for your comment Emiliano. I'm still a fan of the Playseat Challenge-it was my first sim racing rig. However, the Next Level Racing F-GT Lite and GT Lite rigs have a number of advantages. For example, an included shifter mount and the ability to hard mount your pedal set. I also found them to be more comfortable over longer driving sessions.

      I switch between using the H-pattern shifter and paddle shifters to match the car I’m driving in the sim. So, when I’m using paddle shifting, I simply leave the H-pattern shifter in neutral as it’s not connected. Hope that clarifies. 👍
