Season 2 really made Megabyte into one of the best tv villains of all time! I'll never forget seeing the season 2 finale when he sent bob to the web! it was shocking not too many kids shows at the time got rid of the main character and allowed the villain to win and reboot did it brilliantly
HOLY CRAP, you absolutely blew my mind with the Fury Road / Bad Bob connection! Why are there not more people freaking out about that part?! That's so cool! I really liked these videos, even though I knew basically all this stuff beforehand. It's just great to hear someone talking about the show in general, since almost no one I know now ever watched it.
I know, that blew my mind as well! It's true, there's almost nobody in my life who's familiar with ReBoot in any way other than vague recollection. In some ways, The Guardian Code has done some good in that all us 20somethings that remember and loved ReBoot and getting to reminisce about it online.
Or, you know, 30somethings. >__> I was ten when the show came out, which was kind of the perfect time, in a way. The show got darker and more mature as I turned 11, and I was 13 when season 3 kicked off, with its much-improved visuals and sudden desperation at the loss of Bob. Heck, Reboot even played into my discovery of Bond (which continues to be a franchise I cherish), with the Firewall episode. Goldeneye007 was released in August, and I watched the film it was based on, then played the game, then Firewall was broadcast in September. I taped all the episodes back then, so when I rewatched it later, after catching most of the old Bond films on TV that fall, it suddenly made a lot more sense, and I realized the cultural cache Bond held, I suppose. Anyway, my point was that Reboot's shift into the 'lost in the net' and the journey through the Web and the dark, dramatic return to Mainframe occurred parallel to my own development of appreciation for deeper, more serious storylines. Or Reboot might have even been one of the key things that made me appreciate that sort of material in general. (I'm probably giving it too much credit, though, I'm sure I was consuming other more mature media somewhere).
I'd also like to encourage you (as others already have) to check out 'Shadow Raiders', aka 'War Planets', the other-other Mainframe show from back then. It seemed even more emotionally relevant/potent than Reboot, often. -- Also, we all know about beast wars/beasties, but you know about Beast Machines, right?
I really like what you brought up about AndrAIa. It's one of those things that kids don't realize when we first watch it, but eventually we figure out exactly what happened. It's a moment of incredibly sharp writing that I admire so much. It demonstrates just how much creative effort the team put into the show. Another episode I admire for writing is Identity Crisis parts 1 and 2. I find that it's probably the best written story I've ever seen about believing in oneself.
I've watched through ReBoot something like 2 or 3 times since the DVDs came out, and this was the first time I noticed that detail about AndrAIa. Very sharp piece of writing, indeed.
There's also the moment between her and Enzo on S3E2 "Between A Raccoon & A Hard Place", where she just keeps on going with the steamroller (against the darn User varmint Rocky the Raccoon) despite Enzo's fear of her Icon not working properly. For a young sprite with a then unrequited crush on the kid who gave a lot to her, she sure is willing to take sacrifices so to keep the love of her life and the ones he holds there safe and sound... we don't see such characters that often in television and even movies, games, and books.
Bad Bob was the most memorable episode for me and my favorite of season 2. I remember in the late 90's my friends arguing with each other whether Megabyte was a truck or a train in the episode, but reruns on Toonami finally ended that debate.
I loved the fact in that sentai Power Ranger styled episode, Phong's office was Jeff Tracy's office from Thunderbirds. Complete with secret launch routes to get to the machines.
As Bad Bob was probably in my top five Reboot eps of all time, the story behind it and the subsequent events to the Mad Max franchise just blew my mind. ALPHANUMERIC! Thanks!
I'm glad you're covering Beast Wars too. Mainframe Entertainment owned me in the late 90s. It's all i would think about all day at school. What would happen next in the cartoons, what new ReBoot and Beast Wars toys I would find at the weekend whilst shopping. I too watched Web World Wars as it first aired. My god the gap between that and season 3 felt eternal as a child!
Initially int he UK they repeated the last few episodes of season 2 before airing season 3 so when I initially saw ReBoot was back on and tuned in I was so disappointed it was just repeats. Thank god a few episodes later I was blown away by the first episode of season 3. Right from the get go it was so much more cinematic in it's shots and with the improved CGI too it just seemed amazing.
Ah, yes. the season where my favourite episode, the Web World Wars arc, comes from! Seriously, the WWW arc has it all: great action, tense sequences, great writing, and a bleak, yet defiant cliffhanger.
And wait. Was the joke involving Bob calling out the Kirk and Picard spoofs about how they triggered an explosion inside the planet a reference to the premise of Star Trek: Generations?
Yup! Trying to turn the guardian code into a positive experience for myself through revisiting all these classics. Glad to have you aboard, captain Kuchiki.
Hexadecimal's character and voice was always what I like to hypothetically imagine Harley Quinn or more likely now Punchline to be like essentially if she ever actually had become like the Joker herself and not just his henchwoman. Especially that underrated Mark Hamil tier laugh Hexidecimal's VA always nails. Its just such a loss to think that she never voiced a Batman or Disney villain character with it.
It was so weird when learned that about that episode and Mad Max. After I saw Fury Road, I remember noticing the similar to Bad Bob. But I had not seen any of the other Mad Max movies so I had assumed that both the film and the episode were based on one of the earlier film that was mostly just one long car chase.
So glad I found this channel. Reboot and Beast Wars (or should I say Beasties) are two of my favourite shows of all time, thanks to being a Canadian 90s kid.
Me and my friends all noted the similarities between Bad Bob and Fury Road, but we had no idea that it was intentional. As an animator myself, that is something we all dream of one day happening for us, and three different kinds of awesome.
Yea, its pretty insane when you think about it. Brendan McCarthy was a George Miller fan who worked his way up through the industry far enough to pitch his Mad Max idea to the man himself, then ended up making it with him. Sounds like a dream come true.
Been watching your videos the last few weeks due to following the train wreck that is "The Guardian Code." Been enjoying it, but as much as I love ReBoot it's not quite enough to get me to- 😐 *Subscribed.*
Thanks for your ReBoot Retrospective, been a fan since its inception when I was ten years old on September 10th 1994! Got the Shout! Studios (formerly known as Shout! Factory) ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition DVD Release for X-Mas 2019! Watch it religiously ‘TIL this day!!! Keep up the great work!!!
I feel the same way for gething rid of my beast wars action figures. I almost ad them all i regret it so much now some can only be both for 5 to 6 hundred dollars on ebay 😮😮😮
Love Reboot. Love Beast Wars (Beasties). Great video. I'm glad Reboot went in this direction. Season 1 is good but the bigger stories that followed we just so good. The first and last arcs of season 3 are just the best.
Omg!!! REBOOT anda BEAST WARS were my entire childhood TV series cartoons!!! I think I wanna cry... thanks bull session for sharing this awesome serie... right now I am 30 years old and it continuing me liking so much!!!
Just a quick note since this video was uploaded months ago, Andrea Libman who plays AndrAIa ‘From the episodes AndrAla to Game Over’ who later plays Pinkie Pie & Fluttershy in My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
"Bad Bob" was my favorite back in the day - I didn't even know what a "Mad Max" were. Funnily enough, when I got older I actually became a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise.
I subscribed to you after your season 1 retrospective, and I'm kinda disappointed that UA-cam waited until MAY 8 to bring this video to my attention on my home page. Great work. Beast Wars is one of my favorite shows ever as well. In your future videos, I hope you'll be able to touch upon their trials of animating both ReBoot and Beast Wars at the same time, and how the varying budgets between Beast Wars and its other programs at the time meant that certain shows could have special touches, like shadows for the characters, where Beast Wars generally didn't. I remember when Beast Machines was announced, they made a big deal about the graphical upgrades, and how shadows would be used in that show.
Thanks for the support! Unfortunately, UA-cam's algorithm tends to prioritize smaller channels like mine very low down on recomended pages, even for those who are subscribers. If you'd like to be notified of future releases like my upcoming Beast Wars Season 1 video (which should be out this Thursday or Friday), you can hit the notification bell and select "all uploads", though I do upload other content inbetween these retrospectives as well so if you think notifications for all that stuff might annoy you, you may just want to check back every now and then. So far I've been able to stick to a once every 2 weeks or so schedule for these longer videos. I haven't heard much about the inter-series budgeting beyond what you've just told me -- The Beast Wars Season 1 video is too far along at this point, but I'd definitely be interested in reading up more on that for a future video. Beast Machines may be a good time to talk about that, or maybe Beast Wars Seasons 2 or 3. Thank you for the info!
Will always be Beasties to me :) Ah censorship but tbh I think forcing the staff to use show names that aren't quite so...on the nose made for more creative titles. E.g. War Planets vs. Shadow Raiders
Yea, I remember having my mind somewhat blown when I found out the show was called "Beast Wars" everywhere else. I always like to imagine an alternate universe where "Star Wars: Clone Wars" was called "Starries: Clonies" here in Canada
Speaking of Tony Jay you should review Disney's Hunchback somewhere down the road so you can talk about his other most iconic role Claude Frollo. Hellfire, dark fire, now gypsy it's your turn...
Oh man, I remember Beast Wars! I had a VHS tape of that show that came with an action figure I got for Christmas. The tape had season 2 episodes in it, and I was always annoyed because it only had part 1 of the Fuzors arc and NOT PART 2. I eventually watched part 2 on TV, but I was always annoyed that the tape never included the second part of it.
Yeah, that was annoying. I remember some tapes would even have episodes from unrelated shows. For example, I had a tape containing 90s Spider-Man episodes, but for some reason they also threw in episodes at the end of the tape from the crappy first season of Iron Man. It's like eating a big juicy burger, only to finish off with a pile of bland old broccoli.
I love Megatron's voice in Beast Wars as it is but sometimes I wonder how would the character "feel" if he had been voiced by Tony Jay just like Megabyte.
As a HUGE Reboot (and Beast wars) fan, I Loved this video and your presentation style, Subscribed! I've heard about the Mad Max Fury Road connection, but didn't know about the shared writers! Also, my favourite parody was Trust No One, Did you notice that it's the last episode to have Mainframe with the nice blue sky it always had? Not until the very end.
Hi! I'm loving your content man! So happy you mentioned Beast Wars today, I was hoping you'd be a fan of it. You nail everything I remember about the shows. Keep it up :)
Yay another Reboot review! I was hoping you would do Season 3 at least before jumping into Beast Wars but I guess I can wait. Looking forward to both Reviews! Subscribed and Notified for new content!
That Andraia bit made me feel horrible, poor thing. I love ReBoot season 2, but only ten episodes makes it feel too short, especially since Bob gets axed and I felt we needed a few more episodes with him as lead protagonist. He's just really cool and likeable. I also would have liked to see more of the Code Masters later on but the systems Enzo & Andraia explore still really made the universe feel big.
9:43 That reminds me of repeats of Gigantor they used to show when I was a kid. The villain (in their mech) would be beaten and explode in a huge nuclear-like explosion. With a voice narration stating they were later "arrested". XD There is also the infamous final line to GI Joe The Movie too... -_-
in the sentai part, i think they may have chosen bug forms as an homage to Kamen Rider, as well. Maybe even metal heroes, as they were known for a few bug-themed series as well.
Nullzilla also parodies Thunderbirds when they are going from the command centre and the way they get to there mechs. Nullzilla is my favourite episode of the series
Mad Max was by far my favorite reference of the season! Can't wait for the Beast Wars review! I feel like it had even more Saturday Morning cheese than Reboot did. Still loved it growing up though!
What it had in more cheese it definitely made up for by having waaaay more violence (being a syndicated show from the getgo), which was *so* metal when I was a kid. Can't wait to rewatch it!
Season paid homage to ST:TNG in Bad Bob where Dot talks to *ahem* Number 1, a numeral that is a dead ringer for Jon Frakes playing Will Riker. And there was the episode High Code which was an homage to classic Westerns. Balls, I have no idea what my favourite pop culture reference in season 2 was...
haha, yea the Number 1 joke almost made it into this video, but I chose the Star Trek Generations one instead. I also loved the episode where Hexadecimal gets control of the Paint program that references all those different artists.
Fun fact, Beast Wars was actually the _third_ All-CGI cartoon aired. Technically Donkey Kong Country beat it to the punch by a few weeks. Y'know, unless September 16th comes before September 4th...
Since you brought up Transformers, I would like to say that this show handled getting rid of its main hero way better than The Transformers movie did. Bob is not defeated thanks to the carelessness of a friend. He's defeated because Megabyte finally got the better of him. Even after Bob returns, Megabyte beating him has clearly shaken up his confidence. Also even though Bob returned, forget kids shows, you rarely even see shows aimed at adults that do something as risky as writing their hero out of the series for the better part of a following season.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Well Optimus Primal's death didn't stick in BW, and a lot of the deaths were mostly done as a cost saving measure to introduce characters for the new toys. The major death that was done in a way that served to drive the story was Dinobot.
My favorite pop culture reference was the X-Files binomes, Fax Modem and Nully. For some reason, I keep getting Pennywise or Shelob vibes, when I saw sprites suspended in mid-air from that web creature.
The two sprites' full names in "Trust No One" were Fax Modem and Data Nully. I also remember seeing the season 2 cliffhanger as a kid when it originally aired. Lucky for me, cliffhanger endings such as this weren't new to me, as I had already been thoroughly exposed to the British sci-fi series, _"Blake's 7"_ and the original series of _"Doctor Who"_ Nevertheless, I remember feeling so disappointed that there wouldn't be a season 3. I actually didn't find out about the CN continuation of the series until years later when I was well into my 20s. I also recall the gut-wrenching shock I felt the first time I heard Hexadecimal's, _"Damn you, fool!"_ I actually had to look it up on the Internet years later to confirm I'd heard it correctly. IMO, season 2 & 3 is where ReBoot hit it's stride. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the 4th season's "Daemon Rising" & "My Two Bobs" (although compared to The Guardian Code, both are masterpieces). My issue with the 4th season is that it seemed to shift away from story-driven plots and focus more on character drama (a shift that almost always kills off TV shows that have established themselves as a story-driven series [see Stargate SG-1]). "My Two Bobs" borders on being a daily soap with regards to the tension between Dot, Mouse, Hex, & the two Bobs, and the series pretty much abandons it's original premises of User-input games, Megabyte's lust for power and Hex's occasional chaotic shenanigans. On top of this, with the Megaframe, Web Creature, etc plot neatly concluded at the end of S3, the door was wide open to explore the premise introduced in the original title sequence -- that of Bob discovering the true nature of the User.
My annoyance at the fourth season's cliffhanger is definitely lessened by the fact that season three concluded so tidely that if you want, you can completely ignore season four. How old were you at the time of season two's cliffhanger? I would have been 5 years old
holy shit, I did not realize AndrAIa made a copy of herself.. that's not just heartbreaking, it's foreshadowing. 8:47 wait.. that.. can't be right, right? People don't stick to BS&P because they fear getting canceled next season, they obey them because otherwise _the episode won't air_ isn't that how it works?
great video dude I just tried to watch the reboot of reboot and 😤😢 it would have been so easy to make it good. Anyway I'm going to go check out the beast wars one now. when you starting singing along with the intro was classic, I was doing that same thing 👍😁😂
The plot of the season 1 finale of Beast Wars is also very similar to the plot of the Reboot season 2 finale. Especially the ending. Anyone else notice?
What I loved about this show was that it took risks and was willing to treat its audience like they were intelligent. A lot of kids shows treat the viewer like they are unintelligent and not able to follow a long story
bless you for doing this retrospective
mind-blown that the mad-max parody episode end up becoming mad-max fury road and the writer working on it.
Same here; it's pretty incredible... and 20 freakin years after the fact too. Crazy.
Thank you! And a Papabless to you too! 🙏
P.S. Damn dude, I just checked out your channel. You're crazy tallented! I've got mad respect for animators.
Hexadecimal remains my favorite villain in animation. Shirley Milner's delivery played no small part in that. She was simply perfect for the role.
Yup; she's in contention with Tony Jay for the best of the voice cast.
Megabyte is my favorite vilain along with Hexadecimal.
Shocking that Shirley never got more notable voice roles afterwards (though she did well as Sister Yolanda from the English dub of Black Lagoon).
Season 2 really made Megabyte into one of the best tv villains of all time! I'll never forget seeing the season 2 finale when he sent bob to the web! it was shocking not too many kids shows at the time got rid of the main character and allowed the villain to win and reboot did it brilliantly
And ultimately it ended with the real possibility that megabyte would actually win it all...since season 4 ended in a cliffhanger
"Alright mega truck, LET'S GET BUSY!"
Omfg you've blown my mind knowing mad Max fury road has direct roots in reboot. I'm completely blown away!
Beleive me; my mind was blown also haha
I like how the mech changes its mannerisms depending on who's talking.
That was a great little touch.
Beast Wars and ReBoot were so... metal...
Literally; there was a liberal use of metal guitar haha
Hell yeah they were
We were spoiled as kids.
Not that the Lion King was any better.
Hellyeah thoes were my two favorite show growing up, now 20 years lather im a full blown metal head thnks beast wars and reboot 😂😂😂🤘🤘
HOLY CRAP, you absolutely blew my mind with the Fury Road / Bad Bob connection! Why are there not more people freaking out about that part?! That's so cool!

The whole "can't think of what I was going to say followed by beast wars music in my head" was pretty much me during ALL of the 90s and mid 2000s
I really like what you brought up about AndrAIa. It's one of those things that kids don't realize when we first watch it, but eventually we figure out exactly what happened. One can almost argue. since it was so close in plot, to be inspiration for the movie Oblivion, But it may have just been a coincidence
Bad Bob was the most memorable episode for me and my favorite of season 2. I remember in the late 90's my friends arguing with each other whether Megabyte was a truck or a train in the episode, but reruns on Toonami finally ended that debate.
Megatrain would also have been pretty metal.
Woah! So we can thank Reboot for "Mad Max: Fury Road?" That's so awesome!
Yea, that completely blew my mind.
And yet no one can’t get Beyond Thunderdome.
Bad Bon sure is a meisterwork of animation.
Oh, and hi there, JTB.
I loved the fact in that sentai Power Ranger styled episode, Phong's office was Jeff Tracy's office from Thunderbirds. Complete with secret launch routes to get to the machines.
Oh that's awesome! I totally missed that.
Mainframe Studio was so ahead of its time.
It really was. Now-a-days though it's more like behind the times...
As Bad Bob was probably in my top five Reboot eps of all time, the story behind it and the subsequent events to the Mad Max franchise just blew my mind. ALPHANUMERIC! Thanks!
my mind was also blown. It's a pretty crazy connection!
I'm glad you're covering Beast Wars too. Mainframe Entertainment owned me in the late 90s. It's all i would think about all day at school. And wait. Was the joke involving Bob calling out the Kirk and Picard spoofs about how they triggered an explosion inside the planet a reference to the premise of Star Trek: Generations?
It sure seemed like it to me; if not then the copyright flag I got for that clip was totally not worth it.
Oh. Right. Well, it seems like those two definitely aren't going to the Nexus...
After all these years of rewatching the show...I just noticed little AndrAIa looks like she's really high with those bloodshot eyes.
hahaha yea I noticed that this time around too. Also that shot where Megabyte picks up Enzo by the neck his eyes are postively rose!
Such a shame your channel never popped off buddy. Such quality content
As a 90s kid, I was too young to get these references.
Dang this show is hilarious 😂
I need to rewatch this!
cool I got here for the bad Reboot, and stay for good Reboot, and now I also look forward for Beast Wars...
Yup! Trying to turn the guardian code into a positive experience for myself through revisiting all these classics. Glad to have you aboard, captain Kuchiki.
I never even considered that about Andraia. That's pretty depressing.
Right?! I did a bit of a double take
Holy damn.. never thought of it that way, depressing indeed...
C’mon Bob we all have villains turned into a Megatruck can’t you just get beyond Thunderdome?
BRUH the Mad Max parallel is so awesome! Thanks for pointing that out. Love this series.

But I had not seen any of the other Mad Max movies so I had assumed that both the film and the episode were based on one of the earlier film that was mostly just one long car chase.
Fury Road having been the first in the Mad Max series I saw, I thought exactly the same thing the first time I watched it.
I flat out lost it when you started "singing" the BeastWars theme. Great work.
haha thank you
So glad I found this channel. Reboot and Beast Wars (or should I say Beasties) are two of my favourite shows of all time, thanks to being a Canadian 90s kid.
10:31 Same, bro! That cliffhanger nearly traumatized me as a kid, I went to school the next day not knowing what to do with myself, lol!
The Episode ‘Nullzilla’ is when Scott McNell joined the crew as Hack and a few characters.
And so began the adventures of Optimus Primal and Rattrap... sort of.
Me and my friends all noted the similarities between Bad Bob and Fury Road, but we had no idea that it was intentional. As an animator myself, that is something we all dream of one day happening for us, and three different kinds of awesome.

I love this freaking show. I shouldn't have sold all the action figures I had, now I want to buy some just to display them.
I, too regret getting rid of mine :/
I feel the same way for gething rid of my beast wars action figures. I almost ad them all i regret it so much now some can only be both for 5 to 6 hundred dollars on ebay 😮😮😮
I’m watching season 2 on Tubi right now got 2 more seasons left
Your like my 90’s spirit animal with these videos
love the thunderbirds reference in the nullzilla episode, three of them is how they get to the vehicle hangers
I didn't even catch that one
Love Reboot. Love Beast Wars (Beasties). Great video. I'm glad Reboot went in this direction. Season 1 is good but the bigger stories that followed we just so good. The first and last arcs of season 3 are just the best.
That opera at the end of season three is the bomb
be waiting for "the hunt" for the rest of my life.
You're probably right, sadly... At least we got the musical number at the end of season 3
Same
Eh man that little madmax detail was just amazing. Such a great video.
Omg!!! REBOOT anda BEAST WARS were my entire childhood TV series cartoons!!! I think I wanna cry... thanks bull session for sharing this awesome serie... right now I am 30 years old and it continuing me liking so much!!!

"Bad Bob" was my favorite back in the day - I didn't even know what a "Mad Max" were. Funnily enough, when I got older I actually became a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise.

Beast Machines may be a good time to talk about that, or maybe Beast Wars Seasons 2 or 3.
Thank you for the info!
I never realised Mainframe was also responsible for Beast Wars. That wad definatly my favourite show as a child, maybe even to this day.
Yup, they sure were! Shadow Raiders as well.
my mind is blown! i knew that the mcarthy from fury road sounded familiar! thankyou for the info!
You're very welcome!
OMG MY CHILDHOOD. T-T I can't wait for Beasties....er....I mean Beast Wars!!!!
Yep; we're definitely gonna talk about the whole "Beasties" thing XD
Will always be Beasties to me :) Ah censorship but tbh I think forcing the staff to use show names that aren't quite so...on the nose made for more creative titles. E.g. War Planets vs. Shadow Raiders
Yea, I remember having my mind somewhat blown when I found out the show was called "Beast Wars" everywhere else. I always like to imagine an alternate universe where "Star Wars: Clone Wars" was called "Starries: Clonies" here in Canada
Loved Beast Wars.
Neo Politan
wait what? Beasties.......................................
thank god for the lack of censorship in Latin America...
Omg.... that reveal about AndrAIa... Never knew that.
I know right!? Blew my mind somewhat.
Great job with these videos so far, can't wait for the next Reboots seasons and Beasties (Beast Wars). My Canadian childhood right there haha.
Thanks for the support! :)
16:49 props on doing your best James rolfe rock solid face music riff XD
Speaking of Tony Jay you should review Disney's Hunchback somewhere down the road so you can talk about his other most iconic role Claude Frollo. Hellfire, dark fire, now gypsy it's your turn...
Tony Jay was so iconic
Same for The Tick.
I HATED it when the tapes did that! Not just Beat Wars; I feel like every kids show did that.
I think they had him voice Cryotek in the golden disc animations
I don't think Tony Jay voiced anyone in the Beast Era of Transformers.
I kinda want you to go straight into season 3, cause like many that's my favorite, but I also love me some Beast Wars so... can't wait!
Yea! I figured it might be fun to cover Mainframe's early years in chronological order
Bull Session Well you were right!
Awaiting anxiously for Part 3! XD
Thank you :) Beast Wars Part 1 is up next, but ReBoot Part 3 will follow after!
your reboot series has netted you a new subscriber
Thanks! Glad to have you aboard
Glad to have you aboard :) I did not notice that actually. Another great catch!
Yo fun fact the whole series is on a UA-cam playlist
Yea! I dunno whether Shout Factory lets it stay up, or whether they put it there themselves, but it's pretty great regardless
Ye, it was nice to be able to watch through it agian
And tubi!!!!
Fun Fact: "Bad Bob" was originally named "Bad Bob Beyond Thunderdome" before they had to shorten it for copyright issues.
Great videos man. I friggin loved Reboot when i was a kid.
Man, I remember when they re-runned back to the pilot episode after season 2's cliff hanger. I was so disappointed!
yup, my fragile 5 year old mind just couldn't take it :(
At least that cliffhanger got resolved. That would have broken your mind had it not been so.
Megabyte was a fantastic villian because of how clever and cunning he was. The British voice acting just made him even more compelling.
Nullzilla amalgamated Power Rangers with Thunderbirds too.
Hi! I'm loving your content man! So happy you mentioned Beast Wars today, I was hoping you'd be a fan of it. You nail everything I remember about the shows. Keep it up :)
Thanks! Yes, definitely a big Beast Wars fan; I'm looking forward to revisiting it :D
Yay another Reboot review! I was hoping you would do Season 3 at least before jumping into Beast Wars but I guess I can wait.
Looking forward to both Reviews! Subscribed and Notified for new content!
Thanks! Glad to have you along for the ride :) I figured it might be fun to go through Mainframe's early television ventures in production order.
Look, I can see their parachute's... They're OK! Good review.
Too bad it's SUNDAY. This review would have been filled with people tomorrow...
Bull Session lol they'll be here soon enough. Enjoying the reviews so far 👍
hahaha I was referencing this
ua-cam.com/video/7fhN4DiHlU4/v-deo.html
No the over arcing story starts when Hex takes over the paint program cause mic is placed there to "keep her company" at the end
Dude, you blew my fucking mind with the AndrAIa backup thing
Yea it's very subtle, and quite sad
ReBoot was a such an awesome show.
Haha, yea the Code Masters are never even mentioned again in the show after that one episode. They do show back up in the comic though.
9:43 That reminds me of repeats of Gigantor they used to show when I was a kid. The villain (in their mech) would be beaten and explode in a huge nuclear-like explosion. With a voice narration stating they were later "arrested". XD
There is also the infamous final line to GI Joe The Movie too... -_-
YES!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR BEAST WARS!!! Loving these reviews/retrospectives!
Thank you! I love making them too!
Just discovered your videos today and honestly dude I’m blown away! Huge amount of polish and engaging all the way through!
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them :)
in the sentai part, i think they may have chosen bug forms as an homage to Kamen Rider, as well.
Stumbled on your videos and I’m glad I did. Really hope you do the final season of show. Also, subscribed 😁
Yup! I'll get there sooner rather than later. Thanks for watching :)
"Open... Damnit, OPEN!"
I miss kid's shows being able to say damn XD and hell....
I LOVED this show!!!!! man what a great time I had growing up
Ome piece of trivia I noticed was that the theme cue for the Nullzilla, is a slower riff of the same opening tune in the beastwars theme.
Waiting on that supercut of pop culture references in reboot. Lol I like the channel content a lot.
Congratulations on your new subscriber!
IIRC, "Picture Windows" had a hilarious Warhol reference.
That's a great point
@@BullSession Thanks.
Hmm, what about the deaths on Beast Wars and Machines?
@@michaelandreipalon359 Well Optimus Primal's death didn't stick in BW, and a lot of the deaths were mostly done as a cost saving measure to introduce characters for the new toys. The major death that was done in a way that served to drive the story was Dinobot.
Good points.
My favorite pop culture reference was the X-Files binomes, Fax Modem and Nully. For some reason, I keep getting Pennywise or Shelob vibes, when I saw sprites suspended in mid-air from that web creature.
Bob gets shot into the web? Nooo!
Optimus gets shot into space and blows up? Nooo!
Hah! Believe it or not I never actually noticed the parallel there. Thanks!
i absolutely love the "Bad Bob" episode it was so amazing. Also thee videos are great than you for doing them
You're very welcome!
that motif is used in The Mummy evil theme as well.
I would have been 5 years old
Let's see.....1995.....I would've been 12 or 13 years old.
holy shit, I did not realize AndrAIa made a copy of herself.. that's not just heartbreaking, it's foreshadowing.
8:47 wait.. that.. can't be right, right? People don't stick to BS&P because they fear getting canceled next season, they obey them because otherwise _the episode won't air_ isn't that how it works?
Yay, I broke 1.1K! W00t! Lovely review as well, my wife and I just finished the series!
great video dude I just tried to watch the reboot of reboot and 😤😢 it would have been so easy to make it good. Anyway I'm going to go check out the beast wars one now. when you starting singing along with the intro was classic, I was doing that same thing 👍😁😂
Thanks man, glad you enjoy the videos!
P.S. Holy crap, those wands you made are awesome :O
they put in a Stargate and king Gidorah WHAAAT :O
Would you consider doing a retrospective of Tripping The Rift as well. Along with Reboot was my other early CGI favorite TV show...
I do remember that show being pretty great, yea
The plot of the season 1 finale of Beast Wars is also very similar to the plot of the Reboot season 2 finale. Especially the ending. Anyone else notice?
9:51 DAMN YOU, FOOL!
Omg!!!! I'm so shoked about Andrala being a copy!!! I so didn't get that at the time!! 😱
"This is it, Phong. Prepare... for war."
Great content man!
Thank you! :3
What I loved about this show was that it took risks and was willing to treat its audience like they were intelligent. A lot of kids shows treat the viewer like they are unintelligent and not able to follow a long story
