@REJ wow, those are super interesting; I'd never actually watched them in full before; only seen the clips from that making of video. Maybe I'll do a like "top 10 things I didn't mention from ReBoot" or something where I talk about these.
One of my favorite Megabyte lines in the entire show, is "It amused me." The casualness, and flippantness of the delivery. Like someone asked what he wanted for lunch. Only in regards to emotionally destroying someone.
If "Reboot" ever gets a proper revival, I'd be up to seeing the show take a jab towards you-know-who. They've already done it towards the censors at the time, why not that bozo?
Ughh I TRIED to watch TGC. It's bad. Really bad. Honestly I can't see it continuing with all the hate it gets. Maybe it'll be Rebooted into a proper version?
@@Googaliemoogalie Thing is its too late for anyone high up to care about rebooting it properly, me thinks. Look at how long people wanted a continuation and the inability to get funding for it.
Yeah.. any true Reboot fan wants a true continuation/conclusion to this absolutely glorious show while simultaneously shunning the trashtastic mess that we got instead.
You've captured the feeling of devastation I felt when I realized that I had watched the LAST. THE LAST EVER episode of Reboot. The reality that I was prepared for the Hunt yet would never get the answers I craved has eaten at my soul this last decade.
Hexadecimal's sacrifice is still one of the most powerful moments in _any_ cartoon I've seen. To this day seeing it in full gives me that mixture of sadness and pride that leaves a lump in my throat. The show in general is always going to be in my top five animated series and I get out my box set to watch key episodes from time to time. I'd like to binge watch the whole thing again but I've got a lot of other stuff I'm behind on at the moment an putting those off isn't helping matters.
Excellent review here! Loved it. And I will forever cry over the lack of Season 5. "Prepare yourselves... for the hunt" will be on my gravestone, because I will be as dead as this show is now. *Cries deeply*
I remember a friend of mine made a now non-existent fanfiction that continues reboot. I sadly don't remember most of it. All I do remember is that Megabyte gets trapped in a game alongside Bob, and we learn that being a trojan horse virus has certain advantages other than shapeshifting, namely that he retains icon data from those he shifts into, giving him the ability to reboot even without a visible icon. He just taps his peck twice like there's an icon there and says in his bassy Tony Jay voice "Reboot", and he reboots. Sadly I don't remember much else about what happened. I just remember how awesome that is. Shame it was deleted, because I would have loved to read it again just to remember what happened.
I always wondered how Megabyte was able to leave the games despite not having an icon in season 1. I'm sure he could just infect the users and merge with them like he did in the tearing.
Megabyte: Prepare yourselves, (raises his hand) for the hunt. (snaps his fingers, which causes half of the characters to be deleted including Ray, Little Enzo, Phong, Hack & Slash, AndrAIa, Capacitor and many others. Meanwhile Phong pulls out a communicator before he's deleted as well.) Phong: Oh no. Oh de-(the communicator falls out of his hand as he completely disappears. It beeps for a few moments before showing the symbol of the Crest of Courage)
Ray: It was the only way , I thought he was Bob (gets deleted) Capacitor: by the code matrix (gets deleted) Slash: Hack I don't feel so good I think I'm gonna I'm sorry. (gets deleted) Hack: Oh, fuzz buckets (gets deleted) AndrAIa: something's happening (gets deleted) Little Enzo: Hey, Phong help (gets deleted) Phong: oh no pulls out a communicator oh de- crest of courage
oh yea definitely same here. I think even a slightly rushed ending would have been better than no ending at all. I really wish they'd had the chance to make that third movie.
agreed because instead of getting the continuation that we wanted for years we instead got the awful 2018 version of reboot called reboot the guardian code which was basically nothing more then a big F-you for people like me and you who loved the original series, and that's just sad because the original series ended on a massive cliffhanger.
What i like about your videos is you start them with a hello like a normal freakin person instead of shouting whats up and welcoming me back to the channel like a complete monster.
I really enjoyed Hex's outro/intro deal. But I freaking LOVE Hexadecimal.. The Austin Powers reference was freaking amazing Thank you for this video btw. It was awesome to see the ReBoot series covered!
Hex is awesome, for sure. When I was a kid I liked Megabyte more, but now it's no competition; she's way cooler. And yea, when I rewatched the Austin Powers bit, I'm just like "wow, Matrix totally just did exactly what Scotty wanted Dr Evil to do all along"
@@BullSession I started laughing my butt off when I finally saw what that game referenced. It was amazing. And I got to say, Hexadecimal, I freaking loved her, and even thought ReBoot - The GC. came out, it's still amazing to see her, with her original voice actor
90's kids need this stuff. When you're living the wild 90's life, you don't get to finish tv shows. I'm 31 now, just finding out the endings of so many things.
I remember being in high school when Season 4 was announced and being beyond hyped for it, but getting another cliffhanger ending took me back to grade school, when one of my other favorite animated shows, Sonic the Hedgehog, ended on a cliffhanger, too (oddly, Sonic SatAM and ReBoot both debuted on ABC right around the same time, maybe a year apart). Ultimately, season 4 had a lot of interesting ideas in it, but I remember finding some aspects a bit too, I don't know, "fan service-y", I guess? But then I've learned about what Mainframe was stuck working around, particularly the limitations of only getting two instead of three movies to work with, and I kind of understand.
I loved Daemon as a villain... as well, she did kind of reflect some stupid assholes in my life. I was able to identify with the fear of her presences really well.
Glad you did these retrospectives. It just reminds me how much fun it is to watch ReBoot, and how sad it is that it never continued past season 4, only to be "rebooted" into that Netflix abomination. ReBoot was just...fun. It had a spunky personality all on its own. It took itself and its world seriously, without doing so seriously, if that makes sense. And to watch the animation evolve from the early pitch videos, to what we got in season 1, and how it progressed on to seasons 3 and 4, it's remarkable that this show isn't more well known.
I was pretty blown away by those tech demo pitch videos. I actually hadn't seen them in full until someone linked them in the comments to this video, which is a shame because I would have talked a bit about them otherwise.
Dude if you ever want to collab and tackle that Reboot game, let me know. Ive had that for a while and need an excuse to cover it. This coverage has been fantastic.
The most fascinating element of S4 for me was what could possibly be happening in the real world during the Daemon incident. Surely the Users were aware of this global infection, and there was probably some kind of worldwide scare (a'la Y2K) going on, if not WWIII proper. Leaves a lot of fuel for the imagination.
"Hey remember that time a virus infected every computer on earth, began a mysterious countdown, but then stopped and dissapeared with no explanation?" "Yea, that was a quite a Tuesday."
Daemon is based on a series of viruses from the earliest days of computing. That would infect a computer through a shared disc. The virus only made copies of it self on any media that was used with the pc. At least in till the day it activated and wiped out/ corrupted the bios, and all other data on the pc. The only reason a modern virus cannot do that is to many different operating system , and diffrent anti viruses use now.
You nailed the description for the reason I didn't like the faces in Reboot season 4. The characters always seemed too fleshy and plump to me. It was the mouth animations! Of course!
I agree. Their mouthes hung open a lot, and Bob's cheekbones and shiny skin were just too much for me. Dot and old Bob looked very doll like, but most of the other characters looked normal.
If you think those are creepy look at some modern big budget videogames like Resident Evil 2 remake or Mass Effect Andromeda. Especially the women end up having very freakish uncanny valley faces. In an attempt for creators to make female characters attractive to both kids and adults they make them with some swollen baby faces with big lips and strange teeth that make those faces in the last season of Reboot look like the Mona Lisa
From what I've understand Daemon is based off a theoretical super virus of the same name. And it is just as insane and destructive as Daemon is in the show. Her guardian controlling ability is based off the Daemon's virus unique properties which involve bypassing all the security measures of a computer and directly attacking the CPU or something.
@@BullSession A big reason why there is no Daemon is because no one has figured out how to make a Daemon. And because no hacker in the world is that suicidal. As such a virus would not only lead to the apocalypse but everyone who relies on a computer would want him dead. Every government and their corporate lords would instantly want said hackers hide because of all the money they would lose.
Actually, it was a hybrid of her function. A Daemon is a task scheduler, though usually not destructive. The idea was that she was malicious, but the true payload execution happened at a timed interval. There are a few cron-type viruses that have executed throughout history, but Daemon's malicious intent was more true to the late 90's styles of infection and destruction.
I really enjoyed and appreciated this series, man. It's clear to me that you had a similar Canadian generational upbringing, and the same crosssection of nerdy pop culture CanCon™ we vaccuumed up into our noggins, for life! The depth and detail you go into analyzing the final 2 partitions is greatly appreciated - I'm not entirely sure I ever got to see all 8 of them, my memory is really hazy about S4 overall
If anyone wants to see what the end of The Hunt could _possibly_ have been, look up the fanfic "A Glitch in Bob". It retells the events of late S3 and S4 from Glitch's perspective, starting from "Mousetrap" and continuing through the rest of the canon episodes, including a pretty believable continuation that gets through The Hunt and finally defeats Megabyte for good.
Thanks for your ReBoot Retrospective, been a fan since its inception when I was ten years old on September 10th 1994! Got the Shout! Studios (formerly known as Shout! Factory) ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition DVD Release for X-Mas 2019! Watch it religiously ‘TIL this day!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Reboot: Paradigms Lost is definitely an underrated entry in the Reboot franchise. I didn't like it all that much when I read it as a teenager, but going back to it as an adult (and after having watched the terrible Guardian Code) I find myself strangely enjoying it. Sure, it haphazardly resolves certain elements, but some of the moments that happen in it was surprisingly awesome. The Codemasters return, Bob gets extremely vengeful and arms himself to the tee for a fight with Megabyte (that sadly never happens), and they face against a new villain that looks like its made out of corpses! In my opinion, the best part in the comic was Bob and Dot trying to get married again. They basically go through a Drive-Thru in order to do so, since they don't want another situation like last time. You can tell that even though they're both committed to each other, they're still unsure due to past circumstances. I honestly wish they animated Paradigms Lost, or sold it as an actual comic somehow. Heck, they could've even included it in one of the artbooks as a small bonus!
I've only read it once, and I remember not liking it a whole lot, but it's canonicity is shakey at best, and it's largely a fan effort, so I didn't want to poop all over it in the video. Maybe I'd also like it more on a reread though.
I don't think it as in Bob's character to want to destroy Megabyte. If anything they should have went on his retconned ideas of trying to reprogram him, be it in vain or not.
@@GeteMachine it is an idea that could work so long as the plot leads up tp it in a believable manner. Such as perhaps megabyte killing or severely wounding dot.
Reboot will always be one of my favorites. great characters, interesting story, it was perfect. it breaks my heart know we may never see a true end to it. i loved Megabite's look in this season, he looked like a monster, and yet still acted like a gentlemen. and Hex... she was just amazing..... would it be too much to ask for a proper ending for this amazing series? we know there are fans of it, it doesnt have to be a ton of episodes, maybe just one movie. this was a fun series of vids dude, sad to see them end ( just like Reboot... ) please keep up the great work
Wow this was my childhood! My fav ep was Enzos birthday where Megabyte shows up and everyone's shitting their pants but then he pulls out an electric guitar and Bob and Megabyte do a Rock-off, it blew my mind! xD and at the end Megabyte leaves in a limo like a boss and says he always wanted to do that xDD
So you know, ReBoot Season 3 was supposed to end after E12. They did the cliffhanger angle in hopes to get more funding--it works sometimes, failed at others.
Great video! I would've liked more mention of how Mike The TV was a blatant spoof of televangelist type figures because I thought that was brilliant. Aside from that, I'm happy. Thank you!
Thank you for doing this video. I loved this showed as a kid, and love rewatching seasons 3 & 4. I’d totally be game if the show picked up right where season 4 left off. I mean, if Incredibles 2 can do it, why can’t ReBoot, right? Just leave the guy who made the Guardian Code out of it and bring back to original creators.
Oh god, don't play that game, it breaks even the hardest reboot fans. Or maybe it's not that bad and you should take a risk. Or maybe I'm lying. We'll never get our happy ending. I'll make my own reboot, with blackjack and hookers. You know for kids.
Have it start off... and they are in a Blackjack game... filled with hookers. One of which has the voice of Matrix and another of Bob. Female porn star looking characters in a Blackjack... but with masculine voices. Also have Dr. Girlfriend as a Game Sprite right in there.
i just could never get past how weird the faces looked in s4, especially andrAIa's. and the characterization felt kind of all over the place, especially the weirdness btwn bob and dot. (like honey, that kiss at the end of s3 kind of cemented you guys as In Love, please work with me here)
Fantastic review man! Can't wait for that Spiderman one! It reminds me of Reboot where I expected a new episode as a kid and it just restarted from the beginning. ):
I'd take a direct to DVD style movie finishing up the series proper. Hell with the amount of dedicated fans they could easily get a fund campaign going and make it a possibility. Though with everything it would be hard to recapture the magic the first three seasons had(wasn't a huge fan of season four for a number of reasons). Plus with the advancements in technology we have had over the years, it could be really well done and allow for more creativity that the past seasons had. And yes we must never speak it's name, it must be returned to me hellfire from which it came.
The biggest hurdle to making a direct continuation would be that Tony Jay, the actor who played Megabyte, has been dead for some years. The guy who played him on The Guardian Code wasn't bad, but it still wouldn't be the same.
@@BullSession True, but a simple work around could be that his new viral form altered his voice. While it was sad losing the great talent that was megabyte, simple writing could solve a few issues. Though granted it wouldn't be the same, yet it would be better than nothing at this point since that's what we the fans got. That whatever abomination to the eyes and ears that entered the world through the misguided minds that thought it up is more sad than anything else. While it served one purpose, and sadly as much as I have to admit it did do that. It reignited the flames of the fanbase. We had long kept to ourselves after Reboot ended. When the guardian trash bin came along it reminded us of how much better the original was. Heck even shout factory that streams the original series on there channel, and does the DVD set, saw an increase in the views after the trailer for the trash heap dropped. That was while god awful, it did manage to make the fans remember the good times they had watching reboot. So with that fanbase once again reignited and the internet a more used device medium than ever, getting a proper conclusion to the original series could be a possibility. While granted we can never catch lightning twice, still it would be a way to honor the cast of the old series and those from it that have left us. Heck after that piss poor excuse of a show they slapped the name on rainmaker owes them and us that much at least.
@BullSession they might be able to use AI to replace his voice. Re speeches did a pretty damn good job doing Vaders voice in Kenobi. It won't quite be the same but it's close enough
@@BullSession I would have some scenes with Megabyte having Tony Jay's voice using archived voice clips then Bob or Matrix injures Megabyte's throat and that explains his new voice.
Wonderful as always. I think season 3 was my favorite too. It's hard for me to be critical of season 4 because Hex was such a favorite character for me. Her voice actress is incredibly good and her humor is great. I agree about the smile lines and teeth. I think maybe they just overdid the shadowing because at certain angles and lighting it really does look wonderful. I didn't know about the game! I need to play that now :D. I actually had read the comic though. The art in it was so good. If you do a let's play I would totally watch. Maybe do it as a live stream?
@@BullSession I have I'm just terrible at reliability lol. I did it regularly and then stopped for a year and haven't started again. (Had bad computer but good internet, now have good computer but have terrible internet.) Its super fun though and you definitely have a fantastic voice for it! I've never done it through youtube but I have done it through twitch. Its not too hard. If you can do all the stuff you do now you can totally figure out how to stream.
So I just binged all four reboot season reviews and I must say they are 👌 awesome. Very good work. You are only missing one thing... Herr Doktors digits 😂😂😂.
Great job man, i never actually knew that there was a season 4 untill i heard you mention it in these videos! to me the end of season 3 was the end of all the show (and as you said, it totally looked like it was!), i think season 4 just never made it to my country at all. If i get the time i would like rewatching the show, i loved it as a kid, and these videos proved it still holds up. Now onto the spiderman show! i loved it too and didn't knew it was done by mainframe, so i'm very curious.
I can live without a season 5. Reboot was great at visualizing the digital world of the 90s. A world of dial up modems and disk drives. And a time when code was some arcane language similar to magic cantrips. Today's digital world is greatly changed. A Daemon of today would be created by some kid trying to erase an embarassing video that gone viral not some precisely engineered supervirus. But worst of all are all the knockoffs. It is pretty routine for a cartoon to have one cyber adventure. TMNT spent a season at one end to Scooby and the Gang having a TV movie or two. Adventure Time, Ducktales, Mega man NT, and SAO barrel through the garden Reboot once lovingly crafted. Even if the Netflix show wasn't trying to recreate VR Troopers, it still would share a very crowded field of 'been here, done that's'
Season four "too dark"? When I was a kid, I felt like it got a bit too silly amidst the darkness, and I didn't like Matrix's brooding attitude. Looking at this video though, I think it requires a revisit. Good work!
I agree. Its odd they thought season 4 was too dark, when it felt more like Season 2 imo. It was just more focused and technical but with everyone alive. I thought Daemon rising was solid. My-two-Bobs imo was too silly, to the point where it seemed like it was trying a bit too hard compared to how S3 handled its periodic humor.
Even though I do enjoy Season 4 quite a lot, I can never go straight to it from 3 because of the perfect ending. Daemon is _literally_ the only loose thread, that's a neater finish than most films and shows I can name that are considered 'classics.'
I'll never forget the anticipation as season 4 ended. I was scrounging through the Internet at the time for any information I could about when the conclusion would air. Sigh... Gavin Blair has said at a few convention appearances that they did have an ending planned for the last episode, but they chose to end on a cliffhanger because to end it there would have been incredibly rushed. On one hand, I applaud them for making the artistic choice, but on the other, you left us hanging brah! So far he's politely declined to share with us what ideas they had in mind. I hope he'll change his tune on that now that he's seen that Rainmaker has no desire to finish the show, or use good ideas in general. In my dream world I would have liked another 8-13 episode season where they deal with Megabyte's hunt, maybe one other side story, then ended it on a happy note with maybe an episode taking place several years (minutes?) after the main show, showing everyone reasonably happy, Bob and Dot with a kid or two, Enzo becoming an exemplary Guardian, and Mainframe known as the system that discovered a cure for nullification. Yeah, I've thought about this a lot the last 17 years. :( In some ways, as good as it was, I wish season 4 never happened because it was pretty heartbreaking. That may sound a bit silly but this show was and still is one of my favorite shows ever, of any genre. It was just so... damn... good. And such a marvel for its time, and holds up unbelievably well now. I miss it so much, even all these years later. Your retrospectives have been a lot of fun to watch. ReBoot and Beast Wars definitely remind me of simpler times. It's fun to revisit them for sure. :)
I do understand your sentiment on Season 4 for sure. From what I understand Gavin Blair is still holding out hope he'll be approached to helm a proper continuation some day, or at least to give some input. I'd say it's a long shot, but I get it. It's his baby. The ending you're proposing is pretty much exactly what I would want... if Tony Jay were still alive :( I really don't think he can be replaced, though I stand by what I said in my first TGC review. The guy they got to play Megabyte was definitely not bad. As long as they don't have him raise his voice too much, he could probably mostly pull it off if that was the direction they decided to go in.
I would love a conclusion that does something with the nulls back into sprites idea now that Welmann is a part of the main cast. I also would love to see Little Enzo become a guardian and the idea that he could meet the original AndrAIa who didn't get to leave the game seems too interesting to not explore (why have the Andi we see throughout the series mention she's a clone in M2B in a scene with Enzo and Bob and not entertain the idea of meeting the original again). Plus I'd like if Bob's reversion into old!Bob gets a bit of fixing. Having Glitch make him revert drove me crazy as a kid because the whole movie Dot was saying Glitchbob's appearance was a horrible reminder of the tragedy that occurred ... just a short while after she proposed to the same man. I dunno it seemed counterproductive for Glitch to make Bob look just like crazy Dot wanted him to look right after her shameless shallow mindset had her get victimized by Megabyte (and I dunno, now if you ask me I'd be worried that Dot would think of the Classic!Bob's look as a constant reminder of how horrible she was to the true Bob.)
Thank you for letting me know the series ends on a cliffhanger. When I was a kid, I got as far as s4 e1 or 2 then skipped 3, 4, & 5 due to my family DEMANDING to watch only the news because of 911. It was WEEKS before I finally got to watch episodes 6 & 7; never saw ep 8. So on your review, I won't watch the episodes I never got to see.
24:11. Still disappointed we didn't get season 2. According to Brandon Vietti, one of the show's directors, they were planning to introduce Vulture & Mysterio as well as feature Kraven The Hunter (Michael Dorn) more.
Daemon's purpose might make more sense if you remember that not all deletion is equal. So long as data in a sector isn't overwritten, *deletion* is simply removing its indexing and address from the file system. Daemon might simply be a form of ransomware gone apeshit.
Daemon's whole Joan of Arc motif makes me think that, if she was intentionally programed by a User to do what she does and not ruling out the possibility that she simply evolved past her original programing in the same way Megabyte did, her purpose was to wipe out the Net as it had been and effectively start over - to go with the design, she'd be something of a "we will tear it down and start over again" kind of program, that would destroy and wipe out all that currently existed to make a new start. A "that which has been is beyond saving, burn it down and start over from the start." Honestly, my biggest complaint of season four, cliffhanger aside, is that it's very clear that it was written expecting an additional episode order of some kind. Everything just feels like it's moving at a breakneck speed with little time to take in everything that has happened. Sure, Dot and Bob get some moments to reflect in the first half of My Two Bobs, but season three had spent so much time building up Matrix and AndrAIa, they feel left behind by the events of season four - Matrix is suffering serious PTSD, given the outright glee he's showing in the war game training he does in Lost Angles, and AndrAIa honestly feels a little flat overall. The flashbacks just abruptly stop after the third episode, without showing the evolution of the character relationships from Bob's arrival and the introduction of the viruses... Like, yeah, they tell a complete story, but you can see all the signs of where the producers were going to tell more, and didn't get the chance. Considering that, as you say at the start, season three wrapped things up pretty well, seeing all of these plot threads begin without them being tied up gets aggravating. It's not the fault of the writers, considering that they'd started with an expectation of more episodes and the show had been brought back after cancellation a few times before, they couldn't have known this was the absolute end, but...
After the show was cut from 3 movies to 2, plan B was to include 8 minutes of bonus scenes per episode on the DVD release, bringing the runtime of each episode to 30 mins. Didn't end up happening though.
Imagine a 20th anniversary season 5 next year with untold pop culture references, covid 19 cracks, apple sneak disses , perfect completion of the character arcs and a guardian code reboot reboot spoof refuted by Bob and the cast reunion and a resurrection of the twin city sheding light on an entirely new character Dot and Enzos Mother!!! Reboot was the shit and in an imperfect world it had its ending that left it up to us how it would end. This is the true hunt. Someone else mentioned Tron cross episode where the User is sucked in wouldn't be bad either.
Most of the reason why Mainframe Entertainment what's going down the drain because they hired then Dan DiDio who was credited as the man that took down Mainframe Entertainment from within with one bad decision after another. He's now over at DC Comic where he was responsible for the worst history DC Comics where they gave him a rase where he fired Paul Dini hurting the Batman comics and the Batman Arkham video games. Dan DiDio was there when Mainframe Entertainment renamed itself rainmaker studio. in fact, Dan DiDio was head of Mainframe Entertainment when the name change happened. As well as other bad decisions like Transformers: Beast Machines a cartoon so bad that it ended Hasbro's deal with Mainframe Entertainment. After all his bad idea where done, he went to work for DC Comics. With Bob Harras as editor-in-chief and Dan DiDio forced to work with Jim Lee as Co-Publishers, he went on better decisions like the 52 reboot no one wanted and then later firing Paul Dini wrecking Batman Comics and the Batman Arkham video games. Now that Bob Harras is making all the decisions at DC Comics and fixing what Dan DiDio broke. Bob Harras has a history of fixing other peoples train wrecks.
He really did. It's weird cause his name is on the writing credits of amazing episodes of ReBoot, his work at DC is incredibly inept and out of touch with what anyone wants.
Mainframe's downfall is attributed to the company going public by Gavin Blair with them having to basically produce shovelware DTV movies to keep the investors happy. Dan Didio was mainly a writer and headed the American division of the company, so he was basically responsible for pushing their products to american networks I guess. He wasn't CEO of Mainframe or anything, and the name change had to do with them selling the company. Beast Machines was a modest financial success and had two seasons. I find it boring as hell and super preachy but I don't think it was a massive failure for them or anything. I don't think he had anything to do with Paul Dini not being hired as a writer on Arkham Knight, since he was Freelance there was no given that Dini would be back on the project. I'm reasonably certain that was Rocksteady's decision because they just wanted to take care of it themselves. (WB Games also had a lot of input on how those games were produced) I honestly don't know a whole hell of a lot about his tenure at DC, but he seems massively unpopular. So there's that I guess. Fun fact: I saw Dan Didio walking down a hallway after a Reboot panel that I showed up too late for and he smiled at me. Not really relevant, but it's a thing that happened.
With the focus being on Mainframe series, will you be doing "Heavy Gear" as well, although I am not sure how easily available the DVDs are for it. You certainly can't get them in the UK.
I've never watched Heavy Gear before, so I don't know how soon it'd be, or how in depth I would get with it, but I imagine I'll want to close out the rest of Mainframe's portfolio at some point down the line.
On a scale of 1-10, how prepared for the hunt are you?

Leading up for the y2k 2000
This next episode of the last ReBoot episode in Reboot 2010 is cancelled and doesn't exist! There's nothing to find out to this hunt?
Hexadecimal was an awesome character, and her sacrifice was genuinely heartbreaking.
I think hex is the reason why im attracted to switches and unhinged people XD
She is like Dollface from Twisted Metal

I think Daemon was suppose to represent the ever looming threat of Y2K

Which is why she was a time delete virus. If she was real it would have been pretty scary to get a random blue screen.

you deserve more subs Reboot and Beastwars were my childhood growing up in Toronto Canada. YTV after school and Saturdays
Same here!!!
I know that feeling. There's so many great old movies, tv shows, games, etc I want to revisit, but I never find I have the time.

She really is great, yea. From what I understand she's mostly a stage actor.
I wish that I could read this too because it sounds good.
Megabyte: Prepare yourselves, (raises his hand) for the hunt. (snaps his fingers, which causes half of the characters to be deleted including Ray, Little Enzo, Phong, Hack & Slash, AndrAIa, Capacitor and many others. Meanwhile Phong pulls out a communicator before he's deleted as well.)
Phong: Oh no. Oh de-(the communicator falls out of his hand as he completely disappears. It beeps for a few moments before showing the symbol of the Crest of Courage)
I'd watch the everloving crap out of this.
Heck yeah! I'd love to see Megabyte vs. Omnimon/Omegamon!
Can we fit TRON in there somewhere too?
Oh shit I'd lose my mind
Ray: It was the only way , I thought he was Bob (gets deleted) Capacitor: by the code matrix (gets deleted) Slash: Hack I don't feel so good I think I'm gonna I'm sorry. (gets deleted) Hack: Oh, fuzz buckets (gets deleted) AndrAIa: something's happening (gets deleted) Little Enzo: Hey, Phong help (gets deleted) Phong: oh no pulls out a communicator oh de- crest of courage
Voice in the sky: Warning Reboot is canceled. Warning Reboot is canceled.

Reboot . . . no Nooooooooo!!!

Bob: This is bad, Really bad.

It was disappointing, unfinished 5th and final season of ReBoot, unreleased for 2002.
Hilarious perfect timing. I get an ad right after 10:28 "ReBoot will return after these messages"
Personally I really wished we actually got a conclusion to season 4 because I felt the story had so much story left to tell
oh yea definitely same here.
As stated, it is a common theme with Mainframe series...

Yea and little Enzo's viral Icon. Chekhov's gun?
What i like about your videos is you start them with a hello like a normal freakin person instead of shouting whats up and welcoming me back to the channel like a complete monster.
I still wish they kept Hex & Daemon fighting a little longer.
That Inspector Gadget and Green Lantern analogy is Alpha Numeric!
I really enjoyed Hex's outro/intro deal.
But I freaking LOVE Hexadecimal..
The Austin Powers reference was freaking amazing
Thank you for this video btw.
My favorite scene in season 4 is when Daemon rejects Hex in her sprite form. So savage!
Not sure why, but your ReBoot series has become one hell of a comfort watch for me.
Thanks for all the hours of happy listening 💙
"Prepare your backdoor for my rootkit", that thumbnail says, what if Megabyte downloaded porn onto Mainframe in The Guardian Code?
I choked on my drink at that "no, get it away!" gag/reference lmfao.
Dude if you ever want to collab and tackle that Reboot game, let me know. Ive had that for a while and need an excuse to cover it. This coverage has been fantastic.
That could be tons of fun, yea! Is there somewhere I can email you?
@@BullSession Twitter has my email!
"Hey remember that time a virus infected every computer on earth, began a mysterious countdown, but then stopped and dissapeared with no explanation?"
"Yea, that was a quite a Tuesday."
@@BullSession ... I understood that reference...
I loved Reboot! You said what I feel about it and all I can add is I will hold this show close to my heart for as long as I can remember it!
I still like Megabyte’s new design, Don’t ask it’s his claws I just love it.
Ah, I've been wondering when the S4 review would hit, good timing-
Seeing that cube teaser hurts... to think that I was so so hyped back then...
The eyes were bigger too! They seemed psycho scary at times! 😱
Huh. Well, that's terrifying.
@@BullSession A big reason why there is no Daemon is because no one has figured out how to make a Daemon. And because no hacker in the world is that suicidal. As such a virus would not only lead to the apocalypse but everyone who relies on a computer would want him dead. Every government and their corporate lords would instantly want said hackers hide because of all the money they would lose.
oh, absolutely.
@@BryanBakerXBrav Oh yeah that's right a cron-type virus.
Hell yea! Teletoon and YTV were my jam growing up. Then Spike and Space when I was a bit older

The Reboot reboot needs to be rebooted to give us the Reboot we've been waiting for. Minus Tony Jay.
The ending of this show literally gave me my first existential crisis. It... ended. Love the video man. Well done.
Hey Rainmaker Entertainment, we need Reboot season 5, cancel The Guardian code and give us what we want
Cliffhanger. And it was disappointed.
Points for the use of MGS tension music for the reveal of the spy-time Megabyte.
Still feels a bit average for me, unfortunately. Not being a nice conclusion makes it not worthwhile even.
Reboot will always be one of my favorites. great characters, interesting story, it was perfect. it breaks my heart know we may never see a true end to it.
i loved Megabite's look in this season, he looked like a monster, and yet still acted like a gentlemen. and Hex... she was just amazing.....

Fantastic review man! Can't wait for that Spiderman one! It reminds me of Reboot where I expected a new episode as a kid and it just restarted from the beginning. ):
That feeling is always devestating.
deamon was like a Skynet but ten times dangerous
@@BullSession I would have some scenes with Megabyte having Tony Jay's voice using archived voice clips then Bob or Matrix injures Megabyte's throat and that explains his new voice.
wait at 4:47 what clip is that? Is that a clip of megabyte seeing the Users??
It's from a featurette on the making of the show that was made during the first season

It was a product of its time and place and really couldn't (or shouldn't) be done again.
5th and season of ReBoot with episode 48 DON'T exist.
17:07, who would servive the deletion?
Even though I do enjoy Season 4 quite a lot, I can never go straight to it from 3 because of the perfect ending. Daemon is _literally_ the only loose thread, that's a neater finish than most films and shows I can name that are considered 'classics.'
"ReBoot will return after these messages..." ... And UA-cam inserts adverts. I'm not even mad, that's perfect.
I'm still hopeful that they will finish this right. Maybe my great grand children will have the experience. :(
I'll never forget the anticipation as season 4 ended.
I know it's nearly been two years, but I'm totally still down to watch a Reboot Let's Play
Still am! Hope you're doing alright
Wait, Megabyte tried to marry his sister?
Giggity.
Trolling everyone by being a fake Bob, to the point of even marrying his sister? That takes some balls.
It amused him.
@@Significantpower The web changed him indeed.
How many kissing her is creepy as hell, never mind marrying her.

You're legit man. Love what you do.
A "that which has been is beyond saving, burn it down and start over from the start."
Honestly, my biggest complaint of season four, cliffhanger aside, is that it's very clear that it was written expecting an additional episode order of some kind.
And this is not how the end of 47th and final episode.
I remember seeing the Reboot ride played at the Circus Circus in the Adventure Dome in Las Vegas when I was a teen
the reboot ride with maxine scared the shit out of me as a kid
I still miss Hex, I’m not talking about Guardian Code, I meant to true series ‘This show of course.’
Sounds like he has quite the resume haha
(WB Games also had a lot of input on how those games were produced)
I honestly don't know a whole hell of a lot about his tenure at DC, but he seems massively unpopular. So there's that I guess.
Fun fact: I saw Dan Didio walking down a hallway after a Reboot panel that I showed up too late for and he smiled at me. Not really relevant, but it's a thing that happened.
WHATT??!! I've been dying to watch the last review!!
I hope you enjoy!
@@BullSession I did, laughed my ass off the whole time, miss this part of my childhood, "for kids". 🤣

A shot that has a serious balls
19:25, do you know this voice actor plays the insane asylum guy in Disney's Beauty and the Beast?
Reboots was one my stepping stones for learning about computers. Not surprise tech teacher didn't use Reboot as references.
Nice smokes sticker in the backgrounds ya gotta love some good poutine
The one time the cliffhanger backfired.
