Remarkable recipe but please be weary of the open flame and proximity to your cars fuel tank. Salute!
You are Awesome😀
You are the sweetest man! I watch you all the time now. You're just so adorable! And you love cooking and sharing your food!
You remind me of my siciliano grandfather making sauce whistling...God be with you hun..
Thank you! You are clearly a master!!
Only a true Italian can do this while confidently wearing a white shirt
He didn't Eve, break a sweat
At least he has an extra white shirt ready for that spill on his shirt.
IN 4 O’CLACK IN THE MORHNING~
T B. I hate about almost everything you just said
OMG I didn’t even noticed! Great point
"no sweat, no sauce" words to live by
He has t-shirts with "No Sweat No Sauce" on it! Lol. I must go and order one now!
I'm glad I scrolled down only to the second comment to find what he said. That's real shit. Gotta work hard to truly enjoy what you did
The “No Sweat-No Sauce” concept needs to be taught to all our spoiled, self-entitled millennials!!
so true!
If we're not learning from our elders, then we are only limiting our own future. Thank you for this lesson, sir! ♥️
Masto Von Mastoson III agreed. 😊🇨🇦
I love how natural he is: Talking to the camera like talking to you in person.
Ya it's awesome
Back in the homeland you either make the sauce or you die
thank you all for great comments ,make me happy to be able help you with my cooking
❤I like thousands of others truly appreciate how much you are teaching and sharing with us💚🙏

First 5 seconds in and you already know it’s gonna be the best sauce ever.

Greatest respect you can give your elders is to listen and learn. Watched and learned a lot.
Experience
True!!! E' vero!!!!
A white shirt while making Tomato Sauce, doesn't get anymore badass than this.
+Olizzker Lecraz So badass, he also hangs a white shirt right next to the fire!
Lol Laura in the kitchen wears white too when she makes stuff with tomato sauce.
Which white shirt is it?
A white shirt tells me a man of experience. Your sweat says made with love versus can sauce.
Lmao
I’m Irish but I had a friend whose grandmother was a little old Italian woman. She cooked Sunday dinners and sat us all down to eat every week. I watched her for years, learning to cook Italian food, and making sauces like the gentleman in this video. I made it a point to learn how to cook dishes from many other cultures as well. No matter where the dishes originates from, the best food is made using these old fashioned methods. Nothing compares to it.

You are awesome! your story in terms of traveling and food gather sounds just like how we do things in Haiti. You remind me of my father especially your humor. You are charismatic just like him...We use to cook like this in Haiti...the food taste soo much better when you cook with wood.
Wish I could cook outside like that! Love your recipes Pasquale!
Thank you sir!
Looks delicious and the rich red color was beautiful! Thank you, Chef!
thank u so much :)
Loved listening to him whistle while preparing the tomatoes , the amount of memories and stories that would be affiliated with those whistles/sounds. So wholesome ❤️
When you started to whistle it showed how happy you are on the inside. Thank you so much for making this video I have not heard much about my grandparents in Fano, Italy. Only that they lived on a farm and had an agricultural lifestyle but that they could see the Adriatic from their house and it was beautiful. The helps me to understand how they lived. Never stop making videos my friend you are the best😘😘 I hope you lived to be 110!!
I was thinking, "He could sell this sauce and make a fortune" then I realised that would go against everything he was trying to teach here - that everyone should make their own sauce.
Not to mention, by the time he got done putting all the junk in it that the govt would make him to put in it, you may as well just go buy that $1 jar of Prego as it won't taste like fresh sauce anymore.
Zappa Woman ... as one of my teachers used to say , "There you go. Thinking again. That's the beginning of the problem!" And then you realized.
And imagine the pricing in order to make any kind of a profit. That looks like minimum 25 pounds of Roma tomatoes to purchase. Even if he grew them in his own garden, that reflects the labor of an entire summer. It made 11 qt jars and the labor stretched over two days. It’s a labor of love.
Carlota, it's not worth it, I'm Italian and I make my own for my family, my 3 kids and their families, my sisters..... to make a story sstory, I made last year 2,500 pounds of tomato roughly 350 1 liter jars and some more 2 liters, I am equipped, I do not cut tomatoes, I throw them into a modified raisin crusher on top of a 125 liters pot directly over a propane burner the crusher is motorized, , I have 3 of these large pots with 3 burners, you let the crushed tomatoes boil for an hour, then I pass them into a straining motorized machine, extracts everything and separates the juice, then you let it boil another 90 minutes, then put in the pots, we do not consider this a spaghetti sauce, it's the base sauce for making the final sauce, consider that it costs me about $1.50 to produce 1 liter, when you can buy that for less than $1 in a store, and to say frankly, it's not bad too, so it's not really worth it to think of selling, we do it because we are used to....the taste we accomplish, and we know it's all natural....
Tony Ioannoni yes I meant that it was worth all the work, not that it was worth selling it.
You no sweat, you no sauce. Okay? :)

Ok
Cracking up over that One in 2019!!😆😅

A philosophy on life. No doubt.

How funny because he reminds me so much of my grandfather! He’s been gone 26 years.
Why on earth would anyone give this a thumbs down? This was beautifully done. Much respect to this gentleman. I'm for sure going to do this at home now. Thank you Mr. Orsara.
Whistling is a lost art
Whistling is truly a lost art. I never learned how to whistle. My brothers will give me and my sister a special whistle to let us know that our Mother (RIP) knew when my sister and me were off of our block, loud and clear. We knew to make it home. That's when children were still children and played games outside.
A bit ouch if you are listening, as I usually do, on headphones!
We always know when our son i content because he whistles =)
This is perfect!
" No sweat, no sauce"
Words to live by. I hope to be half as cool as this man when I am older.
Great video, Thank you.
Did any one else notice the Figs in the back ground :) ?
This guy is an absolute legend 👌
The fact 236 people disliked this blows me away, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful recipe!
Most people thumb videos down to stop seeing videos on a certain subject or from a certain channel, not because they didn’t actually like the video. The feed from UA-cam’s algorithm can get repetitive. I watched one video on how to lay linoleum; I only needed to do it once, but I still get recommendations to watch more flooring videos years later.
Maybe it was some Roman chef who thinks he didn’t do it “perfectly”
@@arlarl5122 there are better ways to make youtube stop giving you recommodations
It shows there are 236 people who didn't know their left from their right.
The recent generation thinks that anything made in those conditions is not hygienic. They been doing it this way for generations and they are not dropping like flies because it was not made in a “sterile operating room” setting. But they will go to their favorite restaurant and rave about the sauce or a certain dish, not knowing the conditions it was cooked in.
Came for the accent, stayed for the story
dude reminds me of Chico Marx
xantiherox real shit
I can't believe you did this wearing a white shirt and kept it clean.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Not one drop on his white shirt.
I thought that too. Wow pretty amazing
Trevor Gerard I was thinking the same thing
My mother in law is from Naples and makes sauce just like you
I was thinking the same thing.
Is there anything pops can’t do? He makes wonderful dishes, makes his own sauce, has a wonderful sense of humor and can sing like a canary. ❤️ pops.
Was just sitting on my porch thinking how to make homemade tomato sauce and when I came in the house and got my phone, went to UA-cam, this was the first video in my recommendation.

My parents just made tomato sauce at their home, traditionally, and I was talking with them about that, but never pronounced in english, guess what, google listen all other languages :)
I take my peels dehydrate them and grind them into tomato powder and keep it in a jar for soups.
I've never heard of that . Do you use a dehydrator or the oven. Please tell .
Awesome ingenuity
Great idea. I'll try that.
Wow. Great idea.
Or you can grind them dehydrate them then add water then, dry and make paste
I truly enjoyed watching your video.....it was interesting to see your process and the pictures of your family. You are adorable....I lost my dad 7 years ago and miss him so, but you gave him back to me for a few minutes. Grazie molto
God bless you ♡♡♡
When I lived in Italy I helped my neighbor to make sauce. This is is how they taught me. It was in St Janni, near Formia.
when he starts speaking Italian I turned on subtitles
the subtitles: "Speaking Italian"
so helpful lmao xD
Thank you so much for making this video. Some of my fondest memories growing up, about 8 or 10 years old, are of helping my grandmother and mother make tomato sauce. My job was to work the machine. "click click... click click..." I haven't heard that sound in almost 20 years, and it made me smile to see the process just as I remember it. Grazie!
mine too.
I just absolutely love this man especially when making Italian food with his accent. Thank you.

Great video! My mother was from Abruzzo and this is exactly how they used to do it. Once a year, they made big, big batches of sauce for the whole year. Always in September :)
My mother and the neighbors all got together in our backyard and made so much tomatoe sauce. My father would make the homemade dry sausages and wine. My parents came here to the US 1952. They came from Florence.

I grow the best Roma Tomatos and have always wanted to know how to make original sauce the way mama would make from the old country.i have been overthinking it and doing it wrong. It was a pleasure to watch you take your time to show someone like me how to do this because I will not only make it like this but, I will pass it on as well. I cant wait for my next harvest to "Make-a some Sauce!" Saluti!!!
Tomatoes =$20.00; Basil = $4.00; Wood for fire = 50 cents - showing the world how to make a zillion quarts of sauce in your backyard while some how managing to keep your white shirt perfectly clean...priceless!
P.S. Where did I put my old canoe paddles?

5165430178 lol 😂
5165430178 YOU ARE HILARIOUS !!! 👍
Seems like a pretty bland sauce. With just salt and a little bit of Basil on the top.
KMF not bland. Rustic. You don’t add nothing to it because u add when making the pasta. They do this to preserve
My husband and I enjoy your videos so much Pasquale...thank you for taking so much time in life to make them to share with all the people. You remind me of my father in law. God bless you Bruce and Marnie Nowicki

What a great guy you are!!! God Bless~
I’ve got that same tomato press! Such a valuable kitchen tool. Nothing like fresh sauce 🍅
Tomato press! That’s what it’s called. Can you tell me the make and where you got it?
I love this man! He's my new favorite person. What a great personality!
It's a Basil leaf. I hope you do try it, and let me know how it is! Good luck!!
I'm so impressed that you worked with that many tomatoes did all that work for the sauce and your shirt is still crisp white 💪🏼Fantastic! I don't know if you already do but if not, would you ever consider selling your sauce you could call it 'no sweat no sauce, sauce' Also the energy you brought to this video whistling and being passionate about what you're making made me happy 😊
You know some of my fondness memories whilst vagabonding Europe in 1974-76 was coming into a small village finding all having a siesta then sitting in the only place to get a Peroni beer and running into locals thanking me for riding them of the Nazi's in WW2. The more often than not being honored in the evening by the village mayor and dignitaries and feasting and consuming the wines and beer's many times made in the village. And yes being introduced to the available ladies. Wonderful people and so many stories to remember.
So lovely that you’re handing down your recipes to your children and the world:)

Thomas Torres since you seem to know a lot about history did you know that Italians/Sicilians did not arrive to the United States until 1888 & 1920's ( same with Greeks & albanians ) all European countries... and by that time slavery was over it was abolished and ask yourself how many black folks do you know who have an Italian/Sicilian last name? Did not black folks take on there slave masters last name #fact p.s. thanks for the tomatoes 😁🍅🇮🇹

Awww he’s a true italiano love the way he cooks yummm
I do this myself. There is nothing like cracking open a fresh jar of homemade in the dead of winter with a foot of snow on the ground. Tastes 500x better than any store-bought.
klesh, it not only tastes better, but no store-bought, restaurant-made sauce can even hold a candle to it. When I go to the olive garden, it is clear that their red sauce comes right out of a can, barely cooked. It's so sour it's inedible.
I love when you speak Italian. Great vid. I learned this from my parents who grew up in Italy and I also made a video of this process a couple of years ago.
But did you wear a white shirt for the video? Lol thank you too for passing this to us that are trying to learn to live a healthier life.
It has been wonderful cooking tomato sauce having Italy for inspiration. 30 years. I only had can tomatoes from the grocery store. Today living the dream. Backyard garden and started canning my sauce this year. Pasquale sharing history. Thank you.
I miss my Grandparents and my Dad. I am so blessed to be able to watch you make this start to finish. God bless you.
That's a BRAVE man to be making that sauce while wearing a white shirt!
This made me miss my grandpa. :'( But I loved the video.
Same !

Wolvenfire86 me too
I can understand him perfectly. I am a First generation Sicilian. I watch my moms Italian station with her and hardly understand a word. I miss my Nonno and Nonna very much. Watching you makes me so very happy!
Beautiful! When I was a kid, every summer we spent a good day cutting up tomatoes, jarring them and storing them in the fruit cellar. Tomatoes were everywhere! I didn’t appreciate it at the time as a kid but I do now. I wish I paid more attention. The things you miss as an adult are the things you gripe about as a child. So very appreciative of your videos and you sharing your knowledge- it’s gold! 🙏🏻💜 much love to you!
they sure don't make them like this guy anymore...i love videos of people showing the old way of doing things
Senore, knowing how much work that is and how much love you put in, that must be the best tomato sauce ever. Thank you for sharing with us. Loved the video
I found your channel a few days ago. This video made me cry! You remind me so much of my Grandpa who passed a few years back. He and my Grandma were full Italian. He looked like you, had the same station wagon(and same color) as you, wore a straw hat like you do, and whistled all the time to us grandkids and our kids! God bless you, and I am planning on making your tomato sauce when my tomatoes are ready to harvest! Thank you 💜
A wise man once said “You no sweat, no sauce”
Very original with the Italian accent and all awesome. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve now made this twice, following the directions as given. I cooked it on a gas grill, rather than on a wood fire. I didn’t sweat, but I did make a good sauce. It takes a lot of time, but it’s worth it. I store mine in plastic containers in the freezer.
When you put your whole heart, passion & patience into it, you get the best.
I LOVE THIS!!! And to this kind gentleman: you are a treasure. I appreciate you sharing this. Your passion and joy in being industrious knowing that if you want something good it takes work. Thank you. Tim
Doing it in a white shirt...what a PRO!
I have worked farm picking by hands green beans, peas, tomatoes, etc.... stringing beans, peas, peeling tomatoes, etc.... for those who have done this or still do, it is normal. For those who have not, you have just killed their dream for making your tomato sauce because they have no idea what hard work goes into canning fresh vegetables/fruits. In u.s. , especially to young generation, words like hard work, sweat, sore back are taboo. They would rather make a tomato sauce out of ketchup packets from mcdonalds than do this, lol. I appreciate it my friend.
This is a really great video. I lived in Europe in 1972 and spent a lot of time in Italy. Really a labor of love and such good sauce!!! We learn from our elders!
What a lovely grandpa!
Synchronized - Papa!
I love when you speak Italian.it reminds me of my grandmother
Your sauce looks great. Now I know how to make it.. With not soo many tomatoes.
Thank you sir for this wonderful video and taking the time to pass on traditional cuisine, God bless you my friend.
We did this every year for many years. Had jars full for the whole family. Great memories with my family.
I've said this before, this is why youtube is so important! These old stories and skills can get passed to another generation before they die out!
That was a very lovely presentation, Sir. Thank you for sharing your talent and stories. I really loved watching you. Gracias
Very nice job. Lots of work. Thank you for sharing the traditional way from the old days my friend. Gratzie!
I absolutely love this. I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you so much for this.
I popped up here when i was looking up when to add the basil to the sauce and was surprised at this lovely video. His accent was beautiful and the winderful " no sweat, no sauce." was much appreciated. I think ill stick to a food processor to puree but i learned much and will try to being some of the past to my cooking. I dont know if it will compete, but no doubt it will be the best ive tasted.

We love you, all your fans love you, the eight people who dislike your video, hard work, are people the same people who by ragu or prego. You are amazing. God bless you.
I'm Greek. My mother would make sauce every August. She didn't have that nice machine. She blanch the tomatoes after washing. Then peal and cut up by hand.
Then she cooked sauce.
We also made banana peppers stuffed with a cabbage mixture of garlic, parsley and carrot. She let these ferment in garage. (Pickled)
Same thing with eggplant.
The garage reeked of garlic!
Lol
Neighbors on south side of Chicago didn't complain because everyone was canning something during August..
I like your simplicity of your recipe and that you don't have to water bath for 45 min. And the ingredients are simple too. Thank you so very much for sharing. I really appreciate it so much.
I love the video and even more love how you did it all while keeping your classy white shirt clean. I look forward to being enjoying my days as a senior the same way you have shown in this video, whistling and cooking some old world delish:)
