    I wanna know where the nail polish that dries quickly is lol I feel like I’ll sit still for about 15 minutes and then as soon as I reach for a glass of water boom I dinged the nail

      Essie nail polish dries quickly. I made the mistake of trying it out and now I’m obsessed. It also lasts a bit longer than other brands. Normally for me, nail polish starts chipping within the 1st 24 hours, Essie lasts me a couple of days.

    I've recently read how one nail salon in Ontario had a contamination alert, and in the news it said if you have been to the salon recently, go and have an HIV and hepatitis test. I was wondering if you could do a video addressing the proper sanitation of all the nail tools used in a salon? I think this is a very important subject.

      @RandeT73 6 років тому +4

      But if you know what to watch out for then you shouldn't have any problems in a salon. This isn't just a nail salon problem or issue, its all salons and spas. You always run the risk of cross contamination and unsanitary conditions at hair salons and nail salons. You go to a professional for their knowledge, education and skill. And some women like to be pampered. I have long natural nails, my friend cant grow her nails.

    For those on the fence about trying gel, I've been using it for a long time and I love it. I've learned some tricks along the way that might help persuade some of you. Sensationail makes an Express Gel Polish that requires no top coat, no base coat, no primer or alcohol wipes. Literally the polish only, it is so simple. And it costs $5.99!!!!! You do need a light, but I saw the Sensationail LED light for $13 from Walmart. It takes one minute for each coat to dry (and I mean completely dry: no waiting no mess). I've been using Gel at home for a while but I picked up this Express gel in white yesterday from Target and I love it so far. The shade range available isn't great but I believe it is still fairly new and hopefully more than the 6 I've seen will be available soon. I think the $6 polish plus the $13 light is worth it for not having to wait to dry. I have very thin nails and the gel helps to give my nails more of a base than they naturally have, which is why I love gel. The lasting power is also amazing!! I have had manicures on and touched them up and they last for weeks. Not sponsored but I would really recommend trying it out, you can always return the products to the store if you get them locally!

    Your videos are so informative!! As a client, another plus with gel polish is that when you are done, your nails are completely dry! If you're getting your toes painted you can put closed toe shoes on without concern of wrecking your polish! Same with finger nails. The gel polish is completely dry before you leave the salon, where regular polish doesn't completely dry for a while, and if you are not very careful, you can "dink" or "dent" your polish, losing that smooth look. I've worn very long nails for a very long time, and wear polish 99% of the time, so I've gotten pretty good at using my hands with my polish still at the "dink" or "dent" stage, without damaging the look of the smooth polish.

      mkadiric 8 She does that sometimes. It works if you let the polish dry really well. But it will not reach the durability of only gel products. And it depends if you do it on natural or acrylic/ gel nails (polish stays way better on fake nails even without a gel topcoat

    • @rebeccaramsey1274

      You can actually take your gel topcoat and mix it up with a regular polish. It should cure if it’s at least half gel. I’ve done it with several polishes. Then you would be able to cure your regular polish/gel mix, and gel top coat it right away. I usually don’t put gel over just regular polish, if I’m using nail polish I’ll just do a quick dry top coat. I’m busy and impatient, that’s why I love gel.

    • @maritta2504
      @maritta2504 6 років тому +1

      Yes you can do this and it works pretty good. Like the others said, it doesn't last as long as a gel-only mani, but it does last way longer than regular nail polish. I also regularily do the "polish and gel" mixing too. You have to cure it though, but that's not a problem. The color you use for mixing wil become a bit more sheer though.

      mkadiric 8 I haven't ever mixed polish and gel together, but sometimes if I let my nail polish completely dry (like over an hour...super super dry!) then I will use a gel top coat over it and it works pretty well but definitely not as well as gel polish. I only do that if I'm using a regular polish that I love but don't have a similar gel color. I would always prefer gel polish and topcoat on my nails.

    Hello suzie I have a big question for you, i dont wear gel and nor do i use false nails but when my nail polish comes off (even with a protective base coat) I notice (mainly my thumbs) tend to have splits in the natural bed where my top layer comes up from my nail (its not painful and has happened all my life) how can you help/prevent this or more so how do I rectify it after removal as i know im not suppose to buff nor peel the layer back but i find peeling and cutting the nail is the easiest?

    • @raicrush
      @raicrush 6 років тому +1

      I had this problem a lot too. If you tend to peel off or flick off your nail polish rather than take it off with remover or acetone it's taking layers of your natural nail off. I suggest getting some Jojoba or vitamin E oil to rub on the naked/clean nail and let it grow out with nail polish on it to get rid of the weakness on your nails. Also taking vitamins like Biotin will make the stronger too. If you don't flick off the polish or pull it off then just try adding the oils and make sure to add a top coat so everything stays in place! Hope this helps!

      girlgreenivy hello thank you again for the comment but you see my hands go through a lot of stress a day and wearing gloves wouldn't really help, I never use to have the problem when I was younger and at one point I actually wondered if it was because of the change in my diet (I'm lactose intolerant), I have an extremely healthy diet but supplements are a bit of a no no for me as I find it difficult swallowing tablets haha, do you think it could be because of that or? Xx

    • @jenny9343

      Mairead Offord has to be completely dry or it'll get little wrinkles. Some polishes dry fast and you can do them I've had polishes that I wait like a whole 24 hours to do a topcoat

    • @Lucy-c82
      @Lucy-c82 6 років тому +20

      Yes. But make sure it's very dry!!! Also it won't last as long as using gel by itself but it does give a longer wear time than just polish and you get that gel look. I do it with polishes that I love but can't find anything similar in gel

    • @animallove6185

    • @nailsofinterest
      @nailsofinterest 6 років тому +5

      Mairead Offord yes but like others said must be very dry, won't last as long, as gels stick on pretty well without a top coat even.. Just not as shinny nor durable... Also each brand varies allot!! Some work, some won't work.. Also, things like Hydracol turns polishes into cureable gels ..Just you lose opacity. . But I love sheers so doesn't bother me! As always try it out and see what works for you!! Experiments are fun💜💖💜💖 I hope you find what you love!!!

      I've done it a few times and indeed, it can be done. As everyone says, it must be really dry. I also find that i have to cap all edges of the polish with the gel to avoid peeling. When I do, most of the time it wears like normal for me (unless it's an old polish and thus isn't 100% dry, i don't have time to wait 24h so i just go for it anyway- then it lasts me 10days tops)

    Thank you! I've recently wanted to get back into nailart, as I loved doing it when I was 12 till 14 and was good at it, however the idea of making a nice design and it chipping away just in a few days always bothered me. Sadly I also do not like the idea of removing gel polish and how long it takes, and I many times enjoy switching around with colours, so I'm still not sure if I wanna do gel or nailpolish. For now I'm gonna start nailpolish just to get back into that routine~ Thank you for mentioning that natural nails HAVE to use the base coat when applying gel, never knew that!

    Hi Suzie. I seem to have a problem with my nail polish taking a very long time to dry on my natural nails. I use very thin layers and wait until the layer is dry before applying a new layer. But it seems like I always end up denting or wrinkling my polish even after i think its dry.

      Top 3 Beauty you definitely should file the surface of gels before soaking off the gel.. I was shocked she didn't do that.. most products say to remove this way. .. it let's the acetone get into the gel past that protective layer, we all love when wearing them! Also try clips or the little soft soak off caps (they fit very snug), helps you be a bit mobile while soaking.. very inexpensive too.. foil has never worked for me.. won't stay in contact with polish long enough.. now that I have an e file oh its super easy! At times I use UNT under my gels.. when I'm not certain if I'm keeping them long, esp if just for a certain occasion or I plan to upload another video soon. For me it still stays on very long. 💜💖💜💖 I hope you find a removal method that's much easier for you!! I still remember my first time using gels then was like how do I get this off yikes!!?!? Lol

    • @lauren1266
      @lauren1266 6 років тому

      I always time the layers I do (impatient to no end I'd smudge before I was done painting) so that I know it's dry. Could also be the formulation of the polish itself combined with your nail chemistry don't work well together. Try other formulas as well as different base and top coats. My holy grail base coat is the Essie First Base base coat and my holy grail top coat is Seche Vite top coat. The Essie "gel" top coat is a pretty good dupe for if you can't find it.

      +nutella before you apply The gel polish make the acrylic a little bit rougher, I suspect it’s too smooth and the gel polish is peeling off. Make it a little rougher or you could even add primer right before you gel polish that will do it

    • @nailsofinterest
      @nailsofinterest 6 років тому

      judie manard same thing different names. .. emory boards are usually refer to just very flat cardboard like file.. most files tend to be thicker .. then there are metal and crystal files.. all have grit to file with!! It's more of a term based on your location... but some use one to refer to one type another for the thicker ones... but yes emory boards are files!! Or is it also a brand like kleenex is a brand of tissue.. I know where I grew up we called everything not metal an emory board, rest we called files... not certain of spelling...💜💖💜💖

    I just love how gel polish doesn't chip. I hate the look of chipped nails and nail polish always ends up chipping after a few days because I'm kinda hard on my hands. But gel I can use for up to 2 weeks, and I just quickly buff the tops before wrapping them so it soaks through faster. Sometimes the gel naturally pops off after about 2 weeks and my nails are always strong and never peel when that happens. I think its just the oils from the nail eventually lossens it and pops the whole thing off. Idk i just love gel polish, and amazon has great deals on it

    My trick to have my nailpolish last a week is to use a nail hardener as a base, two layers of colour (maybe a stamp or whatever decoraton you want as detail) and a long-lasting topcoat. It doesn't work as well with just the hardener or just the longlasting topcoat, but to sandwich the colour between those last a full week for me including showers, sports, active life etc. Makes it a lot easier to do designs once and then enjoy fully :) other weartime for me woud be about 3 days max.

    I recently had my first manicure, my neice took me for a girls day out. It was 3 of us and I was the last one to he seated and the 1st one done. It is day 3 and my nails are already peeling and were lumpy from the beginning. My neice on the other hand has all her gel polish nicely in place and she works retail. I am currently disabled (recovering from open heart surgery) and can barely do anything. My neice wanted me to get out and have a good time. Since going to get nails done I've only washed dishes once, and swept my house and mopped with my swiffer sweeper. Which took a few hours because I have to stop and take breaks. I was very disappointed to see that my nails were not lasting and made me consider not going again and just doing them at home. So this video was very helpful thank you.

      Cailey Perlas either the procedure is wrong, like you still have a lot of oils on your nail, which prevent the product from sticking to your nails, or your are not being careful enough about your nails. You do not want to have your nails under hot/warm water for 24 hours after you get your nails done, because the product fully sets within this amount of time. Try washing your hands with soap really well before going to get your nails done and do not apply any hand cream/oil on your nails before your visit, and try to stay away from washing the dishes or having shower in a warm water for a little bit. Also, try going to a different salon. It can also be, that the products they are using are of poor quality.

      @anastasiiaportnova3382 6 років тому

      Cailey Perlas it is because of the polymerization process. The nails are cured, but the full process takes up to 24 hours. Good luck!

      Cailey Perlas generally the nail was not buffed enough before application, gel was applied too thick, not proper curing time or a combination of all 3. Try changing up one at a time to see if that makes a difference.

      Ingrid Jager yeah she has one up.. to do it file them down as far as you can, then soak in 100% acetone. .. and soak long!! NEVER PULL or pry them off!! Severe damage will occur, and must them grow out.. or file edges off, file line by nail edge, were it's grown out, and some of the bulk, so not so noticeable and simply let them grow out! Suzie leaves a slight layer of acrylic on if they had been worn a long time..due to the person being so used to having thst barrier.. nails feel bare and more sensitive after complete removal if worn for a long time.. same with hard gels.. but those must be filed off unless stated as soak off. Hope I helped at all 💜💖💜💖

    I like how glossy that gel polishes look plus how long it would last BUT two main things I do not like about using gels is firstly removing the stuff which is a nightmare especially to anyone who has weak nails due to medication (I'm on mild chemo) also links to exposure to LED/UV lamps and skin cancer, so I would stick with regular nail polish

    Like if you're wearing nail polish. Comments if you're wearing gel. I have a gorgeous multichrome powder gel mani on rn!

    Thank you....I learned something new!!!
    I have a soak off gel base coat and I was under the impression I had to use that for everything but I just found out from you that's only for Natural Nails not for acrylic extensions so yay cuz I have acrylic I can just save that for later!

    I think i know the difference between the two: (for my eyes at least) the gel polish is the slightest bit lighter than the nail polish.

    I didn’t know, that it was Suzie’s natural long nail, i thought it was a tip!
    It looks perfect, i wish my nails we’re that long - But they always end up breaking.. :(

    Gel polish last longer an naturally shines even if with no top coat.
    To remove gel you need a drill
