  • Looking at GSI (Gomez Sim Industries) latest wheel to hit the market. This is an evolution of the already great Formula Pro Elite steering wheel. Any Sim Racer would be blown away by even their entry level wheel the X-29 this is a step-up up again from that! As always if you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment, I do my very best to respond to everyone! Enjoy!

    In December 2022 I built an ASUS ROG themed computer, with ROG AIO liquid cooling, the top end ROG ITX MB, an ROG case, 12th gen I5 CPU, 2TB NVME, and 32GB of RAM. As far as PC stuff goes, ROG is definitely overpriced compared to other brands. And it was still less than this wheel costs lol. I guess you can't really compare a computer to a gaming steering wheel. And honestly
    That's crazy and I'm having trouble trying to even wrap my head around it. This is a BEAUTIFUL wheel, but holy crap that price is something else. The only thing I wish was different on this would be it having the magnetic USB cable that Simagic uses. I know nobody else uses it, but it's awesome on the Neo GT and seems like the best solution for USB.

    Thanks for the review mate. Just a quick question, in your opinion, do you think the Alpha Mini can handle this wheel?

    • @TheSimCircuit
      @TheSimCircuit  13 днів тому

      Hey matey yes I think 10nm will be ok for this wheel but you will probably be running the base near the 10nm mark or max it at 10. I mean 1.5kg is not loads but after adding a qr it starts becoming a heavy wheel. The heavier and wider the wheel the more force you going to need from your base. How heavy is your current wheel and are you happy with the amount of power you have available when using that wheel?

    • @pawieplays
      @pawieplays 12 днів тому

      @@TheSimCircuit i have the FX pro. It’s a 1.7kg wheel but that’s including the QR. Running it at max, feedback is good actually. On FPE v2 it will be 2.1kg including QR I think plus the extra 10mm diameter, just not sure if it will tame down the mini.

    • @TheSimCircuit
      @TheSimCircuit  12 днів тому

      @@pawieplays it will be noticeable at first compared to what you have the FX pro but I don’t think it will be a massive difference, base certainly won’t be dead maybe just feel slight bit dampened. Sure be good reason to upgrade your base in couple of months 😵😁

    How wide is this wheel compared to the V1 an how do the grips feel comparatively. I've been ready to purchase this wheel for a week now but I have the V1 love the grips and width. I really do like the color, layout, rgb's, funky switches, and rotaries. I just don't want to purchase the wheel and then it seems to small. How is the width compared to the X29. I own the 29 as well. I saw one guy who reviewed this wheel and he sent it back because it felt significantly smaller than the V1 and he told me to purchase the Hyper P1 instead but I race GT3. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks,

    • @TheSimCircuit
      @TheSimCircuit  28 днів тому +1

      300mm wide it is a slight bit wider than the x29. I absolutely love the grips on the fpev2 I have big hands. I find the x29 not that comfortable for me. I do understand getting a feel for something is very important, I my self was so so close to buying the hyper p1 until I got to use it at a sim expo and realised it was not quite for me. The majority of people I heard who had an fpe v1 loved the grips and feel of FPEv2 🤷🏼‍♂️ I think sometimes x29 too small for gt cars but the fpe is perfect for gt cars imo

    Hi good video, very funny, I am also other "mental impediment" guys to consider this wheel.. . Just a couple of question, I saw you use the wheel in an Asetek base with the Invicta QR. Other reviewer had issues with this wheel and the Asetek Invicta QR, because the wheel cable is very long, which is good in principle but...connected to the QR make this connexion even longer, so the wheel had issues with disconnections because the loss of voltage of such a very long electrical connexion. Didnt you have this issues?
    Other question, time ago I asked GSI by email because I heard his screen wheels required more power than the Invicta QR was able to provide (I think 9volts), they confirmed me that in fact that was the case and their wheels could be only used in "low power mode", so I guess low brightness, but they were looking for solutions. Didn´t you have this issue?

    • @TheSimCircuit
      @TheSimCircuit  3 місяці тому

      Hi matey thanks for watching, the cable is very long but I coil I round the qr and it’s ok. I will be getting QR from GSI with the short internal cable just to make it look more tidy.
      I did not once have a single disconnect. I do run on low power mode yes but even then for me screen and rgb bright enough. I would say GSI brightness setting is much brighter than other companies wheels brightness setting ( too bright ).
      I use it every week on my Invicta base with no issues so go ahead and get the FPEv2 if you want it’s an amazing wheel 🙌🏻

    • @papolo2001
      @papolo2001 3 місяці тому

      @@TheSimCircuit Thanks for the answer man, but I think I will wait to see if GSI releases a proper QR with proper and full compatibility with Asetek QR not like now, in fact in their own web page GSI states this wheel is not compatible now with Asetek, I am pretty sure because of this issue till they solve it, I think honestly this is a pretty important information to be clarified in the video, mainly to avoid confusion.
      The issue with the long cable is not it takes too much space or similar, is that when connected to the QR it increases even more the already long electrical connexion, making it so long that it causes a significative fall of voltage in the cable, adding this to the lack of enough power of the Asetek QR itself, all this apparently in some cases reduces too much the voltaje and this could cause losses of connection like reported for some users, I guess you are lucky till now then. Thanks

    • @TheSimCircuit
      @TheSimCircuit  3 місяці тому

      @@papolo2001yea I must be lucky 🍀 😅 i don’t race for hours and hours at a time but my sessions are normally 2 hours long with practice and races and I don’t have any issues whatsoever. I put my FPEv2 on my Asetek base and after 3 seconds the screen and rgbs come on, as easy as that 🤷🏼‍♂️ yes I run on low power mode so rgb and screen not super bright but it’s plenty bright for me. Probably a good 100 hours plus on that wheel now and still my favourite 🤩

      Yes mate I do like it and it’s definitely very premium. I will do a review of it next month most likely. What I can say to give you some reference (I like thumb encoders) unfortunately the x-29 has none also the wheel is more suited to formula cars, I find it better using a wider diameter wheel for gt cars & lastly I think people with smaller/normal size hand would find it more comfortable to use I have big hand (xl glove size) and my thumbs start to hurt a little when using it for long periods.

      Not using internal usb I just coil the cable over the shaft. At the moment no internal cable available from GSI but there will be soon. At back of the FPEv2 there is a hole specifically to connect an internal cable via a QR.
