I never got to meet my sister Courtney. She passed away in 1995 from cancer a few days before I was born. I luckily had her music collection to go through and I thank her for being with me through musicians like Tori. Love you, Courtney.
This is a sad read sorry you never met your sister 😢😔
Every time you play her music she will be there!!!she never left your side!!!!
Xoxo
Your sister must’ve been wonderful ❤️
She had great taste in music and was clearly amazing!
I went to this concert in the mid 90's.
Towards the end of this song she climbed over the piano onto the floor, back to the piano & just started playing & screaming from her soul. It was so exciting & slightly frightening as a teen girl. The girls & women in the audience all started screaming at the top of our lungs. It was a collection of screams some in joy, others sadness, some in anger. It was one of the most freeing experiences as a woman that I've ever had.
That's so amazing. I love Tori so much!
That's a great memory!!
WOW!
I need this experience in my life.
I'm so Jealous! That must have been so amazing, and cleansing!
This woman is saving my life through her music.
I'm healing because of her.
Love you Tori Amos.
She can do it.
Many songs from her have helped me though my trauma…so glad I’m not the only one..I love tori
Her songs have always helped me, too.
Her music helped me through trauma
💖
.... Women's betrayal of other women never sounded so beautifullly enraged. Tori Amos will always be in a class of her own. One of the great talents of our time.
Piano melody at the end is insane. I am glad that she was interested in the rock/pop genre and created songs like this one. She showed her musical talent with this one. Thanks, Tori.
Totally agree!!!!
Seriously true, this track is masterful.
She's one of the best female pianist to ever walk the earth
Wild how good this song is ...was totally under my radar forever
The piano... whenever this song comes on, it's just awesome
Tori Amos always had that enchanted sound in her piano playing ...
Tori Amos is a great musician and a very beautiful lady and her music is frightening awesome.
@@johnaubert2004 agreed
I rate her over Kate Bush to be honest, Flint
bo derrick Respectfully disagree... Love Tori, but Kate is the *original* & paved the way for many of the female artists who came after her.
She has a highly diverse fan base of artists she’s influenced, male & female, differing ages, from many genres.
Thankfully, we have both!😉

I'm 55, life long metal head. I love Tori Amos and have since the first time I heard her music. I don't know why. I think when metal works or comes from a pained authenticity. That makes Tori Fucking metal
She is good friends with Maynard Keenan and was an influence on him I think
Did you like her cover of Raining Blood?
@moonlily1 it was soo different. Yes but it was a wholly different thing....only tori....

Oh my goodness, that piano solo starting at 2:54....Tori knows how to tear a piano up!! I have been blessed to see her live..Wow!!
Right??
No one plays it like her she got a Peabody scholarship at like 5

I agree
This beautiful woman and her music just don't age. Outstanding after all these years.
Ye the fire haired ones
This song literally changed my brain chemistry as a young girl. Tori’s music got me through some very dark abusive experiences as a kid. I would listen to her cassette and be transported anywhere but where I was.
It transports to a different dimension, so true. I feel so free when I listen to her, and especially, this one, it is beyond comparison.
I am so glad she helped you heal.
Same here. Saved me many a night. And now again, all these years later.
Good we are still upright
Of all the things I miss from the 90s, living here in 2023, is genuine creativity. It did not die, it was murdered.
2024 🎉
Genuine creativity still exists today.
Somewhat tricky to find, but it’s out there.
Well put.
I remember listening to this album in ‘94. I was just out of high school and going through a depression from the lack of social interaction. This helped me . I’m 44 now!
You must have graduated early Im ,44 and In ,,94 I was a sophomore
@@raymondgalindo4464 im 45 now. I was just going to say that! I graduated in ‘95. But we only have 11 grades in Quebec. Perhaps he’s from England. They graduate early 15 or 16.
94 - grad - I was 17. This is literally my life in a song.
I'm 42, and it's the same for me, but I actually met her in an Oregon Leatherworks store in Newport, OR ...........had just left walking the docks and the Ripley's believe it or not mesuem.....stumbled right into her almost coming around a circle rack of jackets, needed to get my leather jacket conditioned. I will never ever forget that fiery red hair and her lips are her signature! I talked to her like a normal person, didn't ask for anything or insist on a signature....just a convo....it was friggin' awesome!
@@raymondgalindo4464
What are you talking about, dude? It is just as common for people to graduate high school at age 17 as it is to graduate high school age 18.
I graduated high school in 1993 at age 17, and that isn’t considered “graduating early“ whatsoever.
Ever since the Yellowjackets season two premiere I’ve fallen in love with this song all over again ❤
Yes...they played this song in the ending credits, of the season 2 premier...so fitting!!!
I particularly like how an ear kinda look like a cornflake, and how they cook a guy in the music video... sometimes the stars are just aligned 😭
And now an excellent use of bells for her in the episode 3!
AND BEEF EPISODE 2
Besides being incredibly talented, and having one of rock's greatest voices, and releasing, writing, performing and singing numerous classic songs and albums and releasing one of the greatest albums of all time, "Little Earthquakes," Tori Amos is incredibly beautiful. Just stunning. She's just an amazing person.
Incredible beauty. You'd struggle to find a more photogenic redhead. She never used her sexiness to her advantage (I would have) and was never cheap or trashy. A total class act.
Love it when a good show like Yellowjackets can bring a timeless song back to the front for a new generation to enjoy and appreciate ❤
what show?

It’s also on episode 2 of the new Netflixs series, “BEEF”.

Men who love Tori are almost always into Metal. It’s very interesting.
Wow you got me but it was Grunge.
That piano on this song is phenomenal!
This song is a masterpiece.
This song makes me want to spin around and scream, and I mean that in a very positive way.
This is about female betrayals
Okay, Siouxie
Agreed, C-Beans.
Tori is the sound of my heart breaking. I’m so glad I had the privilege to grow up looking to her and Bjork for what people are supposed to be
30 years ago
Cornflake Girl sounds like it will be a silly song but it's actually kind of dark...such an iconic song, her piano skills are just on another level.
If you understand the back story yes it's very dark Tori was sexually assaulted when she was young coming home from a gig by a man she thought was a fan but r word her that's what it's about
@@Model_Roe I was watching interview from the 90s with Kennedy*man I miss the 90s* this particular song is about how women can be very mean to another but she def has intense songs about assault
But... This is not possible! I see you on all the comments of Kate's songs, and now here! Remember, I left a comment saying that you must be a big Kate fan!
This is actually on female genitalia mutilation. The song Silent All These Years is about the assault.
@@emilyspector2728 yeah I know this song is about that and that's why I said it's darker than it seems, not sure about SATY though but maybe Tori has said it is.
Who's here because of Steven Yeun's Netflix show "Beef"? I was so excited when I heard this start to play at the end of the second episode! 💗 Timeless!

Yep. 👍
Totally forgot about this song until that show!!! So good
I knew this song when it came out in the '90s, and I was just recently relistening to it, so I was happily surprised that it showed up on Beef only weeks after I started relisting to it. Beautiful beautiful song.
Omg, same here. Totally forgot this gem❤❤
Still sounds amazing in 2021, Tori's voice gives me some fierce Kate Bush vibes 👌
Oh yes, Ms Bush is somewhere in the DNA here but that’s not a criticism it’s the biggest compliment I can pay Tori as they both share a uniqueness that sets them apart as well as genuine virtuosity on piano and vocals, love it
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I wholly agree, both Kate and Tori are rare and unique talents .

I had the honor of meeting her in the late 80's when I was working for WEA RECORDS . I met her in the ladies room and she gave me her autograph at that time her name was and I quote "Y KANT TORI REED" I asked her is this your name and she said I haven't decided but for now this is it. she also said if I change my name you have my original first name . I said thank you I didn't know that she was going to be as big as she turned out to be. she had just signed with us. during all this Debbie Gibson was in the bathroom with us taking a crap lol. those were the days. she was and is a beautiful person.
nettecorvette that was the name of her original band before she hit the big time. as far as I know.
Why cant Tori read
Kevin Hall thats not how she wrote it on paper what I said is what she wrote. Kant not can't.
He was literally just translating it.

Imo, "where'd ya put the keys girl" has been the most haunting lyric I have ever heard.
But with a heavenly voice her as always. ♫ 𝄞
Rabbit. Where’d you put the keys giiiiiirlll!
Sarcasm?
@@tkkcali no, I was not being sarcastic.
It's even more so if you know what a "cornflake girl" is.
Tori was a self-taught child prodigy at piano, playing and writing her own classical pieces by age 4 and won a full Peabody scholarship to Johns Hopkins University at age 5, the youngest to ever do so. She was forced to leave by age 11, allegedly for performing like Jerry Lee Lewis in a dress, singing wildly and playing with her legs on the keyboard and behind her back.
She was writing songs for others.
I think her producer told her she should sing her own songs.
She took his advice, and here we are.
OMG😆
When I was a kid. You could call a number out of the newspaper and hear clips of singers singing their songs when they came to town. She came to my town and I listened to this and other songs several times a day and was sad when she left town. We didn’t have youtube in those days.
This song reminds me of driving 100 miles in the morning, after working all night, to see the girl I was dating in the big town she lived in...circa 1997. We saw Tori 3 times back then. Had a bumper sticker on my car, "Tori, Trent, and Tool". Trent of course for NIN.
Those years/times were great.
That was my Holy Trinity in high school in the 90s.
@@PiDev Same here. I saw NIN several times years ago, and Tool last about 10 years ago. The NIN shows were the loudest of any concert I've ever been to.
I'm not sure if Tori still tours, haven't kept up.
I'm a 60-year-old transgender woman and I did not come out until 2019. So I lived in the closet during the Lilith Fair years from 1989 through 1999. I heard some of these songs but I turn the station and closed my heart off because I was terrified to bear my soul and allow myself to feel all of this but I'm here now and I'm feeling every note every plaintive cry the anguish the ecstasy all of the elements of the divine feminine in the voices of women like Tori and Sarah and Paula and Alanis and so many others who defied stereotypes and expectations. These are my sisters and I feel their joy and sorrow their agony and ecstasy their rage and their laughter, all of it. So I let the tears and the laughter flow today grateful that music lasts forever. We are One. 💖💞💖
Damn, Lilith Fair was anti trans? I have this awesome poster from 1998 (would have been 10) that I will have to take down. Didn't know!
@@atherwitchthat's nonsense....Tracy Chapman and Tori? Where do you even get anti-trans from this statement?
It sounds like he wasn't ready to go public but, he kind of wished he'd been able to at or during the event?
My bro Lou dressed in ladies clothes but, that was the 90's. I once asked him how he identified....like he was dating a DJ lady but, we'd been pals for months and I was really scratching my head. I sked was he bi....gay?... undecided? He said idk.....it's probably easier to just think of me as a genderbender. He was over 8ft tall, over 400 lbs was part Samoan but wore ladies dresses....but also had a goatee, mutton chops, and a mustache.....it was a very busy look. I helped dye his hair blue and blond and his dreads. He took his life when he got caught using his family's trucking company to bring ecstasy and Ketamine into Buffalo from Niagra Falls. Rather than let his family get in trouble he bought a big bottle of hydrocodone and a bottle of wine and he never woke up again. I miss him like an old dog.
This said I think we need to acknowledge that the same rights that make it ok to identify as trans or gay....these same rights also mean a person can believe anything not cisgender is wrong and evil. I don't agree with them but, if you take away their right to expound on their beliefs.....then you will lose the right to openly identify.....or possibly even be gay or trans or bi, ect. Politics in America is a seesaw game. The left gets to drive...then the right takes a turn.
The best we can hope for is everyone having a right to their own point of view....no Americans have a right to go through life without ever being offended. Personally I'm offended by anyone in a 3-piece suit.....I was sexually assaulted by a state trooper in VA so, all cops offend me....just by existing but, what can reasonably be done about it. Hillbilly Steve is never going to call a trans woman her..... Let's just be thankful if we can get him to work next to you without thinking this gives him justification to burn their house down. If you try to force rednecks to be polite they'll only call you "asshole". I'd be happy if the Christians would just stop worrying about what's going on in other people's bedrooms.
Ending credits for Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 1 good song! Added to my playlist =)

She was so underrated, brilliant lyricist and musician in reality. ❤
Netflix Beef brought me here. Great music. Brings me back and still modern and meaningful today.
Tori is so amazing and terribly underrated.
I often judge the quality of music by whether I am able to just pick it up and play it myself quickly with my limited skills. This song is absolutely bonkers if you look at the sheet music. Way more difficult than some classical pieces I have played on the piano.
I mean the introductory riff isn't terrible, it is the solo part that is so complicated that the site I bought it off didn't transpose it lol.

90's ... probably the best decade in Music ...
No probably about it. The final melting pot of 3 decade of innovation. Now look at us.. no soul or character in modern music
@@robdean704 People in the 90s talked about music being soulless, as did people in the 80s and 70s. It's perennial.
@@jsrodman the 80s up till about 88 were dreadful. You had the smiths and lots of legends out of place, then acid house changed the game
Not really. There’s been great music in every era, you just have to find it. I’m likely much older than all of you, but I appreciate artists as diverse as Neil Young, Dead Kennedys, Nine Inch Nails, Ghost, and so much more. The 80s had far more than The Smiths and Wham, but unless those were your formative years, you may not appreciate the innovation and diversity that happened during that time. I will admit, though, I can’t find a whole lot about the current music that I like or that defines it. There’s nothing cohesive or innovative that I can see, but maybe I’m finally too old to appreciate new music.
No 80s

Never was a cornflake girl
Thought it was a good solution
Hanging with the raisin girls
She's gone to the other side
Giving us the yo heave ho
Things are getting kind of gross
And I go at sleepy time
This is not really
This, this, this is not really happening

Honey, you bet your life
It's a peel out the watchword
Just peel out the watchword
She knows what's going on
Seems we got a cheaper feel now
All the sweeteaze are gone
Gone to the other side
With my encyclopaedia
They must have paid her a nice price
She's putting on her string bean love
This is not really
This, this, this is not really happening
You bet your life it is
You bet your life it is
Honey, you bet your life
It's a peel out the watchword
Just peel out the watchword
Never was a cornflake girl
Thought that was a good solution
