I love my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro. I like the touch bar. For me it’s been a great laptop. It will be 3 years old in November. It’s been a great experience for me.
I’ve been editing on a base model M1 Mac Mini with Final Cut and LR. Really need a laptop now, so I made a lateral move to a used 13in M1 Macbook Pro with identical specs. Loaded up a multi cam, 4K project. The battery hardly budged, didn’t hear any fans.
i had mine since day one its the 16gb ram model with 1tb storage M1 13 inch macbook pro I haven't found a need to upgrade and its almost 3 and half years old.
I'm 'still' using an M1 Mac Mini and for my needs it is still perfectly usable. I am a photographer so can cope perfectly well with the maxed out specs on my M1 Mini and it runs the software I use without problems. Although I don't really need it, it can run Davinci Resolve and could easily cope with editing a video destined for UA-cam.
M1 Macs are a great value.......I bought my base M1 Mini the day it became available. I am mostly a media consumer and the Mini is the hub for a "Hi-Fi" Streaming video and audio set up along with my office automation equipment and other general computing needs. With my hi-speed fiber, the whole thing still feels very snappy and it's been rock-solid. I will upgrade (M3?) .... because I want to, not because I'll have to.
I got it dec 2020 and im still using it. It’s sitting in front of me right now. Next to my new 13” iPad pro M4. It’s still great but I’m in need of more performance and a bigger screen. Everyone talks about video production. As a newbie developer, it can be better.
For music production, I switched to an Apple M1 Max laptop from a huge, noisy, glitchy desktop PC. This is my first laptop that was as powerful as a desktop machine. It has been excellent. Great battery life and super quiet, even at full power, and crashing almost never. It was worth the hassle of learning MacOS. In a few years, I’ll upgrade to a Mac Studio or some other Mac desktop for music, but I’ll keep the laptop as long as is feasible. For high-end music or graphics, the latest Mac might be best, but the M1 is much cheaper nowadays and can probably easily handle most intermediate to high-performance tasks just fine, for at least the next few years.

Im watching this after ordering the same macbook model a few days ago. I’m a college student and creative video intern so I needed a device capable of editing and rendering 4k video. At the same time, I didnt have $2,000 just lying around for a brand new one. I was able to find a 2020 M1 macbook pro for $700 on amazon and its due to arrive in a couple of days. Is 16gb much better or 8gb almost as good?
you can use your phone as a webcam if you want to right?
Good video keep it up!! 🙌🙌
A very good videi, a question i would like to ask, in your workflow how often have you hear that fan spinning, u was considering air does the fan actually benefit for an average user? Thanks
I would be more satisfied if it supported dual monitors. Unfortunately unlock the current M3 non “pro chip” MacBooks it doesn’t.
great video
Great review! Both honest and level-headed. You got a sub from me! Keep up the good work!
Thanks and much appreciated!
What cpu do you have?
Would you recommend the base model MacBook Air M1 or the same M1 Air with 16GB and 256 Ram
I’d upgrade to the 16gb of RAM, many apps these days require a lot of RAM use so it should help with future proofing. A 256 gb internal ssd should be enough for most users but it depends on what you need your MacBook for.

Hi, great what stuff honestly
I have a question,
I want to buy on on monthly payments, so would this m1 get security updates till 2030?
@@Dispensationalism unfortunately there is no clarity on this as Apple doesn’t share this level of information. However, some forums suggest that it will likely be 6-7 years based on past MacBook’s lifecycle ( so that would bring it to 2027, but it’s a guesstimate)
very good video! :) im your new fan and follower from now on. Thanks
The thing is that in march they will release a new cheap model and the air m1 will be replaced
I love this ❤ keep going
The webcam issue at least from your video is due to too much light behind you instead of being on your face.
Loved the video! Keep doing your thing Mama Cheat! :>
Still using mine now, running great ( project manager here, light gaming, light coding)
Awesome! Project manager here too 👍🏼

I got mine with 16 gigs of ram and 1 tb in March 2021 it's been an absolute powerhouse ever since
Hey I was looking at this exact spec. Do you feel like upgrading at all? If you were buying again today, would you get that exact model and spec for ~$800?
yeah 16gb is key. i just got one for $200 of my own money, and $400 credit card points. This thing is BANGIN, and ill be using it till 2030. so happy i didn't buy a m3
Is this 13 or 14 inch. ?
I'm still on the M1 Max Macbook Pro!
I have been using my M1 Pro since 2020 and find no reason to buy a new one. Great everyday performance and battery life even with the latest Mac OS 14.5.
I enjoyed your video, nicely produced. I took another path and purchased a refurbished M1 Pro MBP 14 (16GB/1TB) for ~$1500. A lot of bang for the buck.
i just got one one for $515. 16gb-256. Killer
@@swimm3r137where lol
@@topchoicemeatssi was able to get one for 660. same spec as above on ebay
