Spitfire Audio (a sample library company) actually released a sample library called Media Toolkit and one of the instruments is literally a computer keyboard. I assume the purpose was, similarly, to be used as percussion.
It turns out, C418 actually brings attention to the unique choice of percussion on his website. I recommend reading his song descriptions cuz the song title choices start to make more sense. "'surface pension' is the main theme of the hard and often unnoticed job of working developers. If you pay attention you can hear them clicking away on their keyboards." - C418
From every artist I've ever discovered and admired in all 14 (almost 15) years of my life, I can definitely say C418 is the most unique and special of the bunch. You can immediately tell within the first few seconds of a song that C418 made it. He has a musical signature that's embedded in the music. I hope more people can admire this man's talent.
one is the official soundtrack to Minecraft: A Story of Mojang, which was a documentary about the development of Minecraft when things were still innocent and young. - C418
I always feel this sense of bliss passing over me when I listen to C418. This album in particular gives me this feeling as if I were living in a city in the sky. You could almost feel a clouds' cooling mist brush over you, as the city floats by...
This album has a structure that makes it feel like one long story, just like, in my opinion some of his other albums line "Life changing moments seem minor in pictures" and maybe "Dief". However, I find this One, despite the many pretty cheerful tracks, hiddenly very melancholic as if it was trying to tell a long story that has many sad moments and a general gloomy ambience in which there are blended periods with happiness. Eventually everything seems to end at least mostly happily, however, still leaving some traces of the past melancholy in mind.
In my mind, it is these things which make happy music. If a song does not address my feelings of sadness then it's not happy for me because I can't relate to it. It is because of this, perhaps, that I find a melancholy album like this one to be intensely happy, whereas a bubbly album is just boring and emotionally vacant.
I'm not going to lie, I like bubbly, happy music. It''s energetic. But I like this kind of music because it calms down the mind. It gives me time to think. Time to reflect. Time to try to change. It's motivating in the sense that it gives you a creative feeling, a feeling that it was time to start anew.
Most of his albums are made to be listened to in one sitting. In the Minecraft tracks, he added more songs that weren't in-game into the soundtracks to give people a reason to buy a copy, but also to give the tracks better flow. Also studies show that songs you hear multiple times are liked more. That is what this track is based off of. That's why there are the same songs playing on the radio now.
For me, this album is like a journey. It starts with happy and adventurous songs (until Certitudes). Then it drops, giving this not quite sadness feeling. Melancholy, maybe? The songs are all similar, and get more complex or develop as they go on, symbolizing the learning progress. The last song is the perfect clousure to the album: whatever happens, you'll always find the way to overcome your problems. I hope you can undertsand what I'm saying by listening to it.
+Prof. Killionare Someone generously got me the Minecraft documentary and this album in physical release a couple Christmases ago. And it is just glorious holding this album in my hands.

listening to this album feels like reliving a memory from my childhood. not one that shaped my life or was necessarily exciting, just a quiet moment where i felt content, at peace with myself and the world. fleeting but immortalized
I listened to this album so much around 8 years ago. I remember every song, but the tones of each note leave an impression anew. It's like I'm listening to this beauty for the first time. I feel like I'm on the other end for when people say that they wish they could forget, so they can experience the magic again. It's like that here.
I always listen to C418 when I'm feeling really really down. Usually it's this album. It has zero words, and still manages to make me think about everything and nothing at the same time. Listening to this album brings me back to some of my favorite memories, especially the little ones. Cliffside Hinson in particular gives me nostalgia of that one time I was building a 3D cat puzzle while afternoon sunlight streamed through my window. School would start again tomorrow, and I would take a test that week, but as this album played, I couldn't care less about that test. And finally, as the last song ended and I was about finished with the puzzle, I went outside with my phone and earbuds, and played this album over again as I watched the sun set over the horizon from a tree in my front yard. It was a truly magical experience, and while I am sad that I will never get to experience that evening ever again, I still look back on that memory fondly. Thank you, C418, for this masterpiece of an album, and thank you, @2nMusic, for helping share it with us. You deserve more subscribers, so let me help with that.
Fr this is one of the best albums of any genre I’ve heard in my life. No matter what kind of state my life is in this album makes me feel love and loved.
theme 1: social lego (cliffside hinson, danny makes chiptune, lawyer cage fight, social lego) theme 2: surface pension (surface pension, impostor syndrome, preliminary art form, post success depression) theme 3: independent accident (independent accident, buildup errors, for the sake of making games, drunken carboni, swarms, pr department, jayson glove, clumsiness and innovation) theme 4: the first million (the first million, faux video production) theme 5: certitudes (certitudes, lost cousins, total drag, the weirdest year of your life, diskdance, one last game, wooden love, no pressure, one, tsuki no koibumi) in short - almost every song in this album is a copy of each other, and that's why i love it so much
When I was 16, I would listen to this album on the walk home from school I’m 23 now, and I’m sitting here reminiscing and crying wondering where the years went. My life has changed so much.
@@eric.waffles Our progression our output and outcome are all made from thoughts. We are made up of thoughts. If you cant forgive yourself for not being able to change the past mistakes a portion of yourself is gonna only hate yourself. which will break you dwon mentally, and physically and one day youll be finding yourself hovering over a kitchen sink with blood in the sink with a box cutter in your hand and cut mark marks on your neck wondering if you cut deeper cuz you dont want to forgive yourself. Because I went through that. Its easy to find things to loathe about yourself but you try to find things you love about yourself and say why you love yourself because of those reasons and keep finding and making reasons. Eventually you'll become more happier, and make others happier too.
I think my favorite track off of this album is Tsuki No Koibumi because it's a wonderful little collab between C418, and Laura Shigihara, the composer for plants VS. Zombies, and To The Moon!
I enjoy this music way more than most music playing on the radio now a days. This music is so relaxing, but also very entertaining to listen too. Thank you for the awesome playlist.
Thanks to The Mc Albums for bringing me to C418's music! I'm in love with this dude's music, not just the Minecraft music. (14.04.20) still loving it a lot, coming back to listening it always makes me emotional, but I just love this album so much.
C418 is the *one* best composer getting on my mind who still making me *seeing for* wonderful, beautiful, hopeful, joyful moments in my life by giving away and receiving those exact childish mood memories to people even if we far away past our *eighteens*. This is brilliant. Thank you, C418, you really made my mind changed and left a mark in my life by seeing it deeply and leading a light using the another prisms. I hope you find it that cheerful as I do.
I used to listen to this all the time early in middle school. Im listening to it again now that im about to graduate high school and getting even more emotional about it than i used to 💔 c418 makes the most beautiful music. It always makes me feel like im in another place.
Dude a long time ago, I was way in Java game development. I think I was around 11, and I looked up a lot to Notch. That shit impacted me deeply, I cried when I listened to the first song. It hit me deep.
It is so easy to hear the endless beauty and complexity of this music, and it makes me wonder how the cliché-robbing, dubstep-strapping, idiotic twerking pop stars get all the fame. C418 has done far more to deserve their wealth and appreciation.
levin tibax well c418s music is more complex, and something that you probably would not want to really dance to. I guess that's the kids want, something they can dance to and also 420 blaze it at the same time.
different people like different music. I love C418. I also love rap music, as well as techno, dubstep, j-pop, classic rock, indie, and folk. You wanna know what I love most, though? Swing music. Music that your grandparents probs listened to. These are all very different music genres, but they all have some really good songs in each category. Also, some days I'll want to listen to music with little background music and a lot of strong lyrics, and others, I'll just listen to instrumentals. Some days I want to hear songs about crying, and others I wanna jam out to a song about hardcore sex. None of it- lyrics, meanings- none of that matters as long as its not hurting anyone. And you say "C418 has done far more" but how do you know? Songwriters elsewhere have battled through abuse, poverty, sexism, and being shamed for existing. Maybe that songwriter worked months or getting their lyrics right so they could find the right ones to express their feelings. You don't know. I love C418 so much, but saying "X is so much better than Y. Y just sucks!" is not praise, and most artists do not take that as a compliment. Praise doesn't put ANYTHING down. Instead, next time try "C418 makes such cool music. I love how layered the soundtrack is. (song) is my favorite." See? It praises the artist's work without putting anyone down. Tl;Dr: Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad. Don't try to make someone feel good by putting someone else down.
margierules Yeah, I kind of agree with you, my opinions have changed since I posted that. I still have the same taste in music, but I realise I was being a bit close-minded and discriminate. I respect other people's taste in music (even if I think they're completely wrong).
ikr... it feels like a story getting wrapped up and each of the characters go their separate ways, yet this is on its own the start of a new beginning. it feels...bittersweet.

Fr this is one of the best albums of any genre I’ve heard in my life. No matter what kind of state my life is in this album makes me feel love and loved.
no ONE can hate this man
This is: The art of electronic music
Art is just knowledge
Not glory
Thank you for posting this. I have a listen every few days.
omfg love this guy
c418 made a legend.
Its not just a legend you know you never felt in other ways
theme 1: social lego (cliffside hinson, danny makes chiptune, lawyer cage fight, social lego)
theme 2: surface pension (surface pension, impostor syndrome, preliminary art form, post success depression)
theme 3: independent accident (independent accident, buildup errors, for the sake of making games, drunken carboni, swarms, pr department, jayson glove, clumsiness and innovation)
theme 4: the first million (the first million, faux video production)
theme 5: certitudes (certitudes, lost cousins, total drag, the weirdest year of your life, diskdance, one last game, wooden love, no pressure, one, tsuki no koibumi)
in short - almost every song in this album is a copy of each other, and that's why i love it so much
There is no album where I love every song as much as this one.
Even Fifflas?
This is genius, I should have known it sooner.
Once the universe is barren and dead, it would be great if his continued to play in it.
When I was 16, I would listen to this album on the walk home from school
I’m 23 now, and I’m sitting here reminiscing and crying wondering where the years went. My life has changed so much.
dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened
@@Jumperbumper247 I try telling myself that every time I feel this way. Although it makes me sad given I’d do it all differently
@@zyoh4311 Thank you for sharing your story. I'm definitely trying to stop struggling with my past. I'm making progress but I'm only halfway there.
_certitudes_ and _lost_ _cousins_ always tug at my heart...

Caleb _ such simple music but with so many emotions
Are you developer
Aged like the finest wine.
Beautiful
Wonderful soundtrack for work and programming ^_^
Thanks for uploading this, I listened to a few of the tracks and then bought the album off bandcamp
This just makes me feel happy...Idk why
Thanks 2nMusic for atleast not deleting thing album. I always come back to this particular video
C418 does make some really beautiful music, I love his work so much
I like how in 0:25:52 it kinda sounds like one of the chords from Taswell.
Yeah, Daniel uses a lot of the same instruments. It really gives his music there own identity
yes thats what i thought the first time i heard it
Great now I can't unhear it
I think my favorite track off of this album is Tsuki No Koibumi because it's a wonderful little collab between C418, and Laura Shigihara, the composer for plants VS. Zombies, and To The Moon!
daniel's music has seriously changed my life
C418 is a composing genius just saying
I listen to this while making stop-motion animations!
Caci Huff thanks!!
i listen to this every school day while i do my subjects
Shamelessly advertising much?
@@caci_etccreativity is very cool but i desconcentrate when says it
I love C418. Thank you for uploading this
I enjoy this music way more than most music playing on the radio now a days.
6 months later, 7 May: I am still in love with it.
@@habitualcrushhello
my favourite music when I'm traveling
oh lol yea me 2
I can't express how thankful I am for his music.
Pure genius. This album expresses so much. It's calm and like a tempest at the same time. Really love it.
the vibe i get from c418's music outside of minecraft is audible abstract art
This is one of the best tracks to chill out to and actually get you motivated to get your stuff done imo XD
Its relaxing not motivating you said
I love so much this music, when you are working on a game and you hear "all" this album you got tons of motivation..
Just amazing!
Its not motivation its unconscious unstudied music idea passer
I have to say, this album is my favorite out of all of his!
Coming back to this comment a few years later, for me it's been dethroned by Excursions.
Awesome album.
the first one made my desk vibrate
gg
Even furniture vibes to c418
@@RADZIO895 i read gg fortnite
It's so amazing how he managed to show us through his life and how his work at Mojang impacted him, all through his music.
I hope you find it that cheerful as I do.
it changed my life...
thanks for uploading this
I usually listen to C418 when I'm not in a good mood, and It helps a lot. The music is really nice, happy, and different. There isn't much like it.
sounds so different yet so nostalgic, the motifs always get you.
This is like an emotion roller coaster.
This man knows how to Chiptune!
He sure does 👍
Whenever I listen to Lawyer cage fight, I imagine a bunch of suited men in a ring punching each other, with the song playing over it
Oh my lord, same.
best music in every game
I used to listen to this all the time early in middle school. Im listening to it again now that im about to graduate high school and getting even more emotional about it than i used to 💔 c418 makes the most beautiful music. It always makes me feel like im in another place.
I think I had it on loop once for 15 hours on a plane ride when I was in middle school. Listening to it now, it's still my favorite album ever.
Cheers mate!
I always come back to this from time to time.
Dude a long time ago, I was way in Java game development. I think I was around 11, and I looked up a lot to Notch. That shit impacted me deeply, I cried when I listened to the first song. It hit me deep.
This comment hits hard now that I know what Notch did.
2nmusic, I am so happy you put this up! Thankyou.
perfection in sound
this is awesome worlds best music album ever heard by me in my life .thumbs up to c418
The power of amazing music
It is so easy to hear the endless beauty and complexity of this music, and it makes me wonder how the cliché-robbing, dubstep-strapping, idiotic twerking pop stars get all the fame. C418 has done far more to deserve their wealth and appreciation.
levin tibax well c418s music is more complex, and something that you probably would not want to really dance to. I guess that's the kids want, something they can dance to and also 420 blaze it at the same time.
xGhostBoyx yretvbnf,55877
xGhostBoyx Dance to ALL the songs!
different people like different music.
This is my favorite album of all time
Dan's music is amazing. But what genre is it?
Precast Dragon electronic ambience
Precast Dragon indie grindcore
Precast Dragon smooth country with a hint of sugar for you hun
Precast Dragon Its somewhere between classical, electronic, and down step
Precast Dragon Feelings-Core
so much freaking feels in Cliffside hinson for no reason
diego andrade SAME OMG. I especially love Preliminary Art Form.
+diego andrade YOU UNDERSTAND ME SO MUCH OH MY GOD! IT'S SO SIMPLE, BUT THIS SONG HITS ME RIGHT IN THE FEELS.
ikr... it feels like a story getting wrapped up and each of the characters go their separate ways, yet this is on its own the start of a new beginning. it feels...bittersweet.
Thank you therm for recommeding
