Oh boy, the people who started to play minecraft in this version, in ten years, when they hear this songs will feel the same that we feel when we listen sweden, this is amazing.
Hearing this makes me so emotional. Playing and teaching my father how to play this simple game was such an adventure and so funny. Complaining why trees float and why doesn't the water spread out. Since his passing I always wonder what he'd say to the update... probably along the lines of "God damn the hills got bigger.."
While I miss C418 I think Lena is a perfect successor as a Minecraft composer, they have similar styles but Lena gives that more modern touch and suited to the current Minecraft, while C418 better reflects the older Minecraft and having both OSTs in the game is just perfect.
Infinite amethyst hits so hard for me. Lena raine made a perfect blend between new and old. This soundtrack feels fresh and modern but still nostalgic and Minecraft-y. So incredibly inspiring.
It makes me feel hopeless and hopeful at the same time which is perfect for being deep underground in a massive cave. Its kind of sad sounding too like it would play in the credits to the events of disc 11 or something lol.
So glad Mojang is letting minecraft evolve from te super simplistic block game to a more adventurous, exploration etc. game without straying from the original too much.
yeah that is a very good thing, and at the same time, is good that mojang keeps all the old versions, for nostalgic players to visit, i would like if old bedrock versions were available.
@@thi2162 I feel like they don't care anymore about the old versions (pre 1.0 because they don't add anymore versions found by Omniarchive. If you are playing on android there is a way to access old Minecraft verions using APK files. I think there is an Apple counterpart.
As someone whos been playing minecraft for 11 years, from the beginning, across many devices, in many homes, with many friends... When I listen to "Infinite Amethyst" just now... I shed a tear...
i remember playing minecraft again after a very long time and that was the first song that played, though i never heard the song before the nostalgia kicked in so fast. it was so beautiful and i couldn’t help but sit there and cry thinking about how wonderful the game was and the time i spent on it over the years
They aren't instant bangers like C418's stuff but I can kind of appreciate purer ambient pieces with no apparent theme or direction. They are very organic and free but C418's music has iconic themes that stick in my head so I prefer his stuff more. The new music disk satisfies this desire for me though, I like it a lot. Maybe I'll won't be so hard on the new music after a few listens
I think all of us veterans have some sort of underlying bias for C418 music but that’s no surprise cause of how good it is. I myself will always like C418’s music the most but oh man these tracks are also good
@@hyperbeamattack775 Very true a lot of veteran players are people who’ve played since their childhood (for example me) and it is true C418 holds more weight to us, veteran players because we quite literally grew up with his music. Back then we were 9 to 10-year-olds. Now we’re in our late teens and early twenties and the music holds a special place in our hearts and brings back all the nostalgic memories of when we were just kids. With all that said I do believe the new composer is doing a good job of respecting the feeling of the old music while also creating something of their own.
C418’s composition will forever be held deeply in my heart, however, Lena is a fantastic edition and has added a mixture of new and old to the music. It’s incredible. Infinite Amethyst really hits deep for whatever reason
Otherside is so optimistic, it makes me think of that theory that the world of minecraft is post-apocaliptic and as it gets updated nature is recovering and forgotten things are being rediscovered, it's like a new world is starting to take it's first steps.
Actually a very accurate theory imo. Considering that undead creatures exist that resemble the player model more than villagers. We can actually assume that the player is the last of his kind.
@@lenzone but, as a 2012 veteran, i really like it evolve with the graphics, the adventure, story (and lore) and the music. i really hope this will continue and not just stay with basic block game with the C418 musics
@@Ketchoop.C True. Old Minecraft was awesome, but it has to evolve. And, imho, this is AWESOME! New experience, new stories, new ideas, new emotions, new everything while still having that "blast from the past" feel somewhat, it's great!
I was playing Minecraft VR today. I was in a cave, and started digging out. I got up to dirt, and saw that it was night. I heard skeletons walking around, and was hesitant to go up to the surface, but at that exact moment Comforting Memories started playing. It made me dig out of my hole and build up to watch the stars and the moon, and as I said goodbye to that beautiful night and saw the sun rise on the other side, it really hit me. Minecraft is the greatest game of all time.
I swear this music has only been out for like a month but every time I listen to it I feel some out-of-nowhere emotional nostalgia to the song... HOW?! It's breath-taking
The way that I first discovered infinite amethyst is still amazing me. I started a new world to test out the new version, after gathering some food I went mining without armor in the caves when suddenly I got attacked and got pushed deep down in the caves. With my 3 hearts left after the fall I run to save myself to regen my life then many monsters just appears from everywhere . Then infinite amethyst starts playing at high volume in my headset... This soundtrack made me feel like I was in a movie trying fighting for my life. The monsters keep chasing me, I kill some but they are to many of them, then I finally see the light from the surface, I start building up and the soundtrack finishs when I reach the surface. An amazing experience that I didnt feel since a while.
It was similar for me, I was experiencing the new caves and I was in a mineshaft, collecting ores. I was fighting for my life, killing creepers one by one, and this music start playing. It was beautiful.
Damn, “comforting memories” hit hard. If you didn’t notice it’s like a reimagined version of “subwoofer lullaby” from the original soundtrack, compare it and you’ll see And the fact that it’s named “comforting memories” just fits so well This new one is prob one of the best songs in all of Minecraft
It plays in the video with the screenshot of the deep dark; now I can just imagine walking in the cities with this calm and somber music which would make it even more creepy
absolutely love "left to bloom" at 7:02 when it starts to pick up and its kind of happy but it has that deep and dark undertone so you expect it to be almost depressing then like the name suggests, it blooms into a really cheerful tune kind of like finding the light at the end of the tunnel, its hard to describe but thats how it sounds to me and i love it
I love that the music of Minecraft is evolving with the game itself. Whenever I listen to these new tracks, I visualize myself playing Minecraft with them in the background and they all fit so nicely.
They're definitely beautiful but I don't like how sometimes they sound as if I'm playing a space explorer. Sure that genre has overlap with the vastness and loneliness yet beauty of MC but that's a whole different game....
as a minecraft veteran of over nine years, the new soundtracks are absolutely sublime. theyre somehow already nostalgic Edit: and i know I shouldn't respond to the various gatekeepers, but some of them clearly have nothing more productive to do than to call random people fake veterans over whether they like the new OST or not haha Just remember: whether you're a new player or a vet, lets enjoy this update together without hate, alright? :)
it almost feels like this update and new music separates us from the old minecraft and our young selfs and we’re moving on in life to new and better things
There's a strangely nostalgic feeling to Minecraft's soundtrack, there always has been. And even with the newest songs, there still is. In a way, I feel that it kind of defines the games themes. The hollow pyramids and empty strongholds that would normally be there only to give something for the player to conquer are given a new meaning when you hear the music. These structures were once not just populated, but saturated with community. and now they're gone. Their grand achievements nothing more than loot to scrounge from the rubble. There's a reason Otherside. such a triumphic song ends with the ominous ticking of a clock. Minecraft is a game where you can be, and do almost anything you can imagine. But in time those monuments you build will fall like the statue of Ozymandias. And one day, you too, will place your last minecraft block.
This is such a beautiful perspective and is so poetic. There is a spiritual depth to Minecraft that mirrors our own lives so well I've noticed. This music..... ambiance, just makes my mind stop. For a bit. And then the feeling of peace. Peace from "myself". An emptiness that feels strangely good and bad at the same time. AlexC, have you read the poem at the end of Minecraft in the credits? It's the most deep and beautiful part of the game that for me, totally adds to the whole feeling around the game, like it's something more. Or is it? ;) Much love
39:31 was playing during a beautiful sunset. When the music cut out, and those three piano notes played, the sky turned dark. It was so beautiful, it made me cry..
I knwo white, the same thing happened to me when I got back from the end, defeating the ender dragon, the sun setting, and this music I just stood there, and listened to the relaxation Knowing that my hardcore and minecraft adventure had just began
@@ceoofdieng1905 im just started making a yt channel bout minecrwft, im recording my survival gameplay and when i hear "one more day" thats literally make me relaxed and kinda sad idk why, i think i got anemoia (nostalgia of things that never happens) and i almost tears up while playing.. its just a whole new different music that soo goood
Everybody sleeping hard on “comforting memories” that bittersweet banger sits right up there with the legendary sounds that embody the vast sentimental ambience of Minecraft’s eternal freedom and solace. Nothing on this track compares. This piece is existential. No other song here makes me feel that. Few songs do that at all… masterpiece
comforting memories at 37:54 brought me close to tears, this soundtrack has been so healing for me and it's making me feel like how I used to, back when i would spend hours lost in minecraft and forget about anything happening in real life, i was 12, i was free, i was happy, and now im starting to be again. this game kept me alive, thank you.
Actually shed a tear when I noticed subwoofer lullaby in Comforting Melodies. Utmost respect to C418 Lena and Kumi for Minecraft's unforgettable music!
“infinite amethyst” got me feeling something i cant describe, it made me return to get on my old mc world and see how it is after not playing on it for a year later as this song is playing while im loading it up, idk it just gave me a feeling of nostalgia and it was fun looking at the old things i built with my friends and the moments we had together on that world, its truly amazing how a world can make so much memories
The new music disc is pretty good. After I had a listen to that I went back to the main menu and the music that went on was beautiful!! I am stunned by this new soundtrack!
@@TheMinecraftArchitect I only just had a listen to stuff in game, so I'll have to listen to the full soundtrack on your video here when I get the time. Thanks for uploading this!
@@furquoise526 All of the songs except Ancestry will be put into Minecraft in 1.18 (otherside being a music disc). I'm assuming Ancestry will be one of the songs played in the Deep Dark biome in 1.19.
I’m not joking, I was minding(and mining) my own business in a cave appreciating the new cave generation, then me of these songs started playing and I almost teared up a little because these songs are beautiful.
I teared up when I saw a mineshaft that had a burned bridge from lava.. Like minecraft's really tellin' stories now. And that's not even a new feature 😭
I can already see many of these sound tracks become as iconic as big man c418's tracks. just give it a few years. I have listened to Lena's music for forever, loved her Celeste music. Great artist and happy to see her becoming part of one of the most influential games of all time!
“Comforting Memories” This song really hits me right in the feels. It takes me back to the first days I bought the game and was in awe to how much there was to explore and do. Listening to this all these years later with all of the accomplishments and memories with friends, really makes me reflect man. Simple times, with a whole new world to see. I could have never have known how impactful this simple game would have on me. And to this day, every time I load up a new world, a new adventure awaits.
I feel you dude, whenever this one came on during my world I would just stop whatever I was doing and just look around. Now I don't hear it anymore because I play on 1.16.5 more often because I hate the ore generations lol
Man, as a Veteran player of Minecraft (2011), seeing new updates and hearing new soundtracks are a bit alien to me. But so far, the update has been amazingly positive and great. Hope to see new recruits of Survivalists and Creativists make it big like how the old OGs did.
@@audrey2658 I unfortunately been playing out of date and using the old SP Launcher for years now. I never had the chance on buying Minecraft until I have my own PC/Laptop.
Not the same deep impacting, strangely nostalgic feeling as c418's old work, but it fits as the theme for the new modern minecraft to me Edit comparing the two artists may actually not be smart, C418's themes were HEAVILY melody based, with themes and returning motifs while Lena's music is more ambience and subtle
@@darreldarrenman3334 well there’s an album of 3 songs for it. It’d probably be called Minecraft Nether Update Soundtrack. The individual songs in that album are: Rubedo, So Below, and Chrysopoeia (with Rubedo and So Below being the best in my opinion)
"Left to Bloom" probably had the most impact to me. That flute sound is so soothing and reminds me of old times. Playing this game for more than a Decade, I can comfortably say that even without C418 (Im not saying this as a bad thing don't misunderstood me) we can still trust that we will get music on par of his caliber and still enjoy what we love and continue on playing with a peace of mind that the music is still in good hands. Thanks to Lena and Kumi-san for creating such wonderful ost's.
I've listened to a lot of music, especially electronic/ambient music in my life, and I can surely say: Stand Tall, Left to Bloom and Infinite Amethyst are among the greatest songs of this genre I've ever heard. Left to Bloom, especially, makes me want to cry.
"Comforting memories" brings back to a day where you would play on a snow day, when there is no school, in 2012, and listening to the old C418 music while you were playing a brand new survival world. This song hit me hard ngl
This gives me Breath of the Wild vibes with its spontaneous ambient melodies! 1:29 sounds like when you are in Hyrule Fields. Also the electronic echoey keyboard in Left to Bloom from 7:30-8:37 and continuing in combination with the harps from 8:37-10:53 brought me back to Mario Galaxy. It may be different but it still calls back to much nostalgia.
I opened Minecraft just to take a look with the new generation stuff when “Left to Bloom” started playing I got emotional and started crying praising the game for being you know good, I got flashbacks of playing cracked version of Minecraft because I was a kid with no money, finally I remembered the day my mom let me pick up a game of my choosing for having good grades I picked Minecraft, being able to create a Mojang account and play the official version of Minecraft felt so good, crazy thing is I’m still using the same world that I created back in 2014 so I walked around reminiscing on my achievements and blunders. Man, video games are a powerful medium no piece of fiction didn’t get me this emotional.
what i really, really like about raine & tanioka is how much they remind me of the concept arts - especially for 1.18. minecraft, to me as a person who heavily focuses on the building side and likes to take things slow, avoid dying, etc, fits this kind of atmospheric, gentle vibe really well. most of the songs (which i can see as like overworld fishing songs, grinding for mending books the old-fashioned way) give me the sort of open-ended vibe that c418 lacked. the lack of overarching theme almost invites me to make the story myself, to build a house and enjoy the game. there will always be a place in my heart for c418. always. but there's going to be a separate place for raine & tanioka too.
"Stand Tall" may have one of the strongest openings to a piece I've ever heard, but I can't say I'm in love with the rest of it. Still a great track, but would loved to see have seen a more fleshed out version of that original theme at the start. Great work to all the artists!!
i feel like minecraft soundtracks are delibrately not that good the whole way through. It would be too memorable. They're meant to be the background sound that sticks in your mind without you knowing it.
1:53 Oo love that piano riff, such a signature Lena Raine thing all the way from Celeste. 9:14 Love that bassoon, it comes in so steadily among the ethereal supporting parts. 10:53 Ancestry is just so cool. I never thought I'd hear an Overworld song that makes me think of the End's theme, but here we are! 19:32 Ooo and that synth is so reminiscent of Celeste as well, such nostalgia. 22:13 The piano coming in here has this beautiful crystalline feeling that steadily makes itself known, like wandering into an amethyst cave. 24:26 Omg and this drop! I think this song might be my favorite. 27:10 Again that piano riff, now feeling muffled in the background, like pushing through water. 31:07 And finally out of Lena's songs, Otherside. I've gotten a hint as her making this type of song with her original album, but this just bring it to another level. That drop is spectacular and the jazz combined with country just carries you along into a daydream. All while mimicking the original style C418 had for these music discs. 32:51 and then it goes into a bit of a minor section for the bridge, getting a bit creepy before acclerating back to the main melody (on the loop). It's something Lena's done before, but it hits so well every time, and it's never quite the same! That clock percussion too, spicy.
Thank you so much for your comment, I didn't have time to listen to the whole soundtrack, but I love Minecraft and it's music and have played it for many years, and your comment gave me the perfect roadmap to follow and get to hear all the best parts and get to admire how awesome this new music is, I agree with your thoughts 100% and thanks for leaving them here!
I was playing the game today and there was this one soundtrack, which had the piano. Towards the end, it sounded like the sound had corrupted. I’m trying to find it to make sure there isn’t a ghost in my game lol
8:03 is the best whenever you are in a new mountain biome with trees and it’s snowing and you have a nice small log cabin in the mountains. All is calm.
Even the titles are already nostalgic to me! "Comforting Memories", "Left to Bloom" Idk why, but that hits me right in the feels. Raine really is the best successor to C418.
I can't help but think that track "Infinite Amethyst" was made with "0x10c" in mind. 0x10c is other Notch's game that never was released. There is enough videos about it on youtube, check it out. Really sets the mood.
Infinite amethyst make me have goosebumps and it feels so nostalgic, i play minecraft from 1.6 version when i was a kid, best game i played 6000 hours here i think
If there ever was something to make me feel old, it's this. I first joined minecraft around 2010-12, falling in love with it almost immediately. C418's soundtrack kept me engaged in the game above all else, supporting me throughout those times and overall being the "background" for many of my introductions to what would become life-long friends. In 2016-17, my PC would breakdown, resulting in me not being able to play the Java edition of Minecraft that I loved so much. My account was left, practically floating in the endless abyss that is time, myself itching for the moment that I'd be able to once more play the game I loved. Due to financial troubles, my family was barely able to afford any device to play videogames on, myself only having a faulty Xbox 360 to try to get by-- though I never could get myself into the whole console-type of playing. What was a month without playing Minecraft turned into a year, and so on. As I grew up, Minecraft began to fade to the more farther edges of my mind, though never fully disappearing. Two to three years after my PC broke, recent events caused me (along with most other people) to quarantine. With no other things to genuinely do, me and my family began to save up for a laptop, to at least provide entertainment and some opportunities. In late 2020, I'd get said laptop, though with my eyes set elsewhere, I wouldn't download minecraft. In 2021, I'd get myself a new gaming PC, originally intending to download a bunch of crappy FPS games. One day I would browse through my recommendations, clicking on a title that'd appear familiar to me. I'd hear C418's compositions for minecraft once again. I had suddenly became more energetic, practically bursting with life. Memories came back to me, a childhood that I was forced to bury once-more arising. One week from the time I am writing this comment, on what I believe to be January 9th of 2022, I'd once again redownload minecraft. Frozen by anxiety fueled by a slight fear of the past, Minecraft would remain untouched on my taskbar. Today, the day I've made this comment (Jan 16, 2022), I finally gained the strength to play Minecraft again. I watched the odd launcher in confusion, along with the loading screen. Finally, I made it to the main-menu, only to be met with an unfamiliar new music. Still in awe, I'd create a new minecraft world, loading in and admiring the minecraft skin I had made so long ago. Suddenly, the unfamiliar music returned, along with an overall unfamiliar landscape or world. I felt as I had gone from a vetetan (which wouldn't be too far off considering how rusty I was). It took me a few moments to snap out of the daze only to begin to weep, as I had came to a realization. Minecraft never really left, nor did it end and stay (as so I believed after all this time), it aged and grew up with me. It'd take me a bit to regain my senses, only to be slapped across the face by the older minecraft music (C418), which once again resulted in me breaking down. While many have their criticisms of the new music (myself most definitely having mine), being driven understandably by a sense of duty to nostalgia, I'd also like to say this; just like how we've grown up over the years playing this beautiful game, so has the game itself. The music provided in the newer versions of minecraft serves as a reminder for how we have really grown, for better and for worse. It shows a brand new world where anything is possible, just as how childhood transitions into a confusing time of what is labelled "maturity." The new music, above all else, made me feel like a father, staring at a grown son or daughter. I figure, perhaps, that's how my parents felt as I began to transition towards maturity. I figure that's how I'll continue to feel as life moves on. I'm glad for the journey and for the wisdom gained along. God bless this beautiful world, god bless minecraft. More importantly, may god bless those who have grown and will continue to grow, though never forgetting the journey they had experienced in the past, rather it be minecraft or something else. For the younger ones who read this, don't take this time in your lives for granted. It'll only make up less than 20% of your lifespan, after all. Let your childhood and the memories gained throughout blossom. Never. Ever. Forget.
@@jonathanaguilar200 this game raised me as a kid and everytime I’m told to think of childhood, my mind goes to me sitting at the family desktop when my father was at work.
I really like how these tracks are different from C418 music. Hearing a mix of the old gen and new gen music in game will really show how much this legendary game has accomplished.
really makes me wonder if or when minecraft will ever hit 2.0 or if it ever will reach a version 2. wherever we're headed, looking forward to the future.
I cried to the old one, I cried to this one without any nostalgia, just the music was beuitiful. This music makes me realize how good my life is and how I should appreciate it.
Something I notice no one talks about is “Comforting Memories” because that has to be a Minecraft player’s nostalgia incarnate. Every time I hear it, I always stop what I’m doing and just admire my Minecraft world because it always makes me think of the worlds I shared with my friends of the past - worlds I sadly cannot revisit myself. The fact that it’s called “Comforting Memories” really lays into the beautiful piano melody that is reminiscent of C418’s earlier Minecraft tracks. That song makes me tear up every time. Thank you, Kumi Tanioka and Lena Raine.
i love how unique the 1.18 soundtrack is, and how calming and majestic it seems - really reflects the legacy of minecraft and the vision the devs had when making this update. amazing how a soundtrack like this can create the feeling of nostalgia, even from the first time you hear it
I've been playing minecraft since release and it's a little heartbreaking to listen to the new soundtrack. I grew up on C418, but as the game is evolving it's time for a new chapter. It gives me HELLA botw vibes and I'm all for it! But C418's soundtrack will always be my favorite.
I remember when C418 created Minecraft Volume Beta a lot of players hated it, but now its nearly as beloved as the original tracks of the game. I feel that its very likely that more people will warm up to these songs soon enough. Also I highly recommend looking at some more of Lena Raine's work because I feel like the ambient themes don't entirely do her justice.
Lena Raine has always had an ambient style like C418, but she mixes it very well her unique take on melody and motifs. She's the perfect evolutionary step for Minecraft music!
Okay, I decided to go through the new snapshot and listen to the music there before looking them up here. And oh my goodness, I heard 'Comforting Memories' while mining and I just had to stop and listen. That song honestly did bring back all the comforting memories I had while playing Minecraft with friends. This new ost is going to 100% fit in with the rest of the amazing music in Minecraft and I look forward to it!
Comforting memories made me cry dude, the title fits too well. all the amazing memories i made on this game, all the friends i have now BECAUSE of this game, my life really wouldn't have been the same without it. i know that sounds cheesy but its true, Minecraft has made a much larger impact than some put it out to be, what a truly amazing game.
When the Piano part of Lena Raine - Left to Bloom comes on, I dno why, but it always gets me emotionally slightly. It really warms me up to the game more. Makes ya realize how special Minecraft can be.
Comforting memories actually remind me of the great times I had with this game in the past, all the old UA-camrs and videos, like watching a sunset of something beautiful just to watch something else just as beautiful rise right after
having played minecraft for over 10 years, this being the 3rd OST (yes there was one before C418), this does an amazing service to the game. Lena is a wonderful successor for the new age of Minecraft; a game that will never die.
i like it that while lena's music is more progressive and gives that "the thing is evolving!" vibe, kumi's makes more nostalgic ones. with clear references to nostalgia and even c418 himself. like "Comforting Memories" What a calm music that is comforting and full of memories is assimilated to? obliviously the first times in the game, when you discovered everything, and when you had those comforting moments from the past. but also the musics from daniel. they are a big reference for minecraft nostalgia. And i gotta say "Comforting Dream" is a name i wouldn't be surprise to see Daniel using. togheter, they make a contrast that while you can't forget the past and it's memories, the good times, and the experiences you had (c418 -> kumi). you also can't get stuck in it, life goes on and keeps evolving; changing. You need to respect the Past, live the Present with enjoyment; and preparing yourself for the future (lena raine), you can't be sad cause something is gone, you have to look to the NOW and the TOMORROW as an evolution, as a sign that things changed and you still kept alive to present it. You can't be sad cause you won't go back to 2014, and you can't hate the situation now because of it. you have to think of it as an evolution. it isn't the exact same as before, but it is still the same game, the same thing, and it didn't change the base aspects that make it be what it is; so just enjoy, and wait for the future :)
I gotta say, these soundtracks are giving me like those "nature vibes". I also love Otherside, it gets darker as it continues on. Someone came up with a theory that it's how Piglins see the "Otherside".
I think it's more of like otherside of the world. To get this music disc you need to leave the surface of your world, probably leave your home for a long time and travel very deep underground to dark and dangerous caves where you can find the "otherside". It also spawns in Strongholds, where portal to The End is located. (I personally think it is more connected to the Deep Dark which got delayed from this update)
C418 can never be beat, But. . .This strikes a new point in my heart. Worries about the world, The memories of past fading into dread; It's hard to find comfort, But there is no reason to let it hurt you. Minecraft is a memory for a lot of us, Whether it be just a year or two ago when you got it, Or its been YEARS, Its still a good memory. I started out with Blockman Multiplayer personally, Which was an MCPE app for multiplayer servers if anyone remembers it. It did get a bit weird but. . .There was still a lot of good people on there who made their own memories. Short and sweet, We all likely are feeling a bit of dread right now. I won't get into why that may be, Because we all tend to have contesting opinions, But. . .Still. I hope everyone can find their exit, Their own happiness. May life prove good for you all. Don't let anything bring you down.
I don't know man, but the song called 'Comforting Memories' made me almost cry. It reminds me of the good old days of Minecraft, we've come such a long way man.
So uhh. The new music is awesome. Don’t get me wrong. But uhh. From my understanding. Does this mean we aren’t gonna be hearing the original theme in this game anymore. Or any of the others we know and love?
i was discorvering a really big spooky cathedral cave while wending was playing and it was so sick. cant believe at 20 years old im still having a blast on this game
This newer music makes me feel like I’m back in 2011 discovering what this game had to offer, this music I feel represents our curiosity and wonder as we traversed Minecraft for our very first times. This new update is gonna be that all over again, it’ll still be the same Minecraft we all know and love, but now we’re open to adventure and mystery yet again.
Infinite Amethyst has got to be my favorite one out of this updates soundtrack. I can imagine a scenario where a sad moment happens while this OST is playing in the background. I imagine a scene where it's slow motion and a tragic moment happens in a story. The song has a somewhat sad tone to it. However, it can be an uplifting tone in the later part of the song.
yeah like a scene where a person realizes that that time is behind now n gotta move on and look forward to the future, that type of feeling right? i feel the same.
Left to bloom does it for me. Every time this plays in game I just have to stop whatever I am doing and sit back and close my eyes and admire this beauty. The piano at 8:02 has me smiling and squealing all the time
This is the first time I've felt like how I did when I first picked up minecraft. This new update (and specifically the new terrain generation) is beyond words. I love it. Also Lena's tracks gives me Celeste vibes (no surprise there.) LOVE IT!
There is a chance that in a few years time these will feel like a part of Minecraft almost if not just as strongly as the likes of C418's music, and we will feel nostalgic over how wary we were of them at the beginning... ...we will feel old.
"An ordinary day" is so interesting! I love how the entire melody for most of it is focused around this one contrary motion progression of chords that continually builds upon itself so that what starts as just piano becomes an entire ensemble.
I was just playing Minecraft unaware of the new soundtrack and comforting memories came on. I kid you not I teared up at the beat drop. My family has always been abusive and this song really hit different. It gives you a sense of peace and sadness. The name suits it perfectly and it’s a beautiful piece to Minecraft. As a musician, I’ve very impressed how they combined the vibe of minecraft and the modern world to make something that the newer generation would enjoy just like the minecraft veterans with the OG song. Great job mojang, you’ve really outdone yourself this time!
Lena Raine is this current generation's next c418, opening a whole new chapter to minecraft in some of its biggest and most ambitious updates, (nether update to current caves and cliffs/ wild update), and i can already tell it has that same comforting feeling that c418's compositions had, but its unique in its own way, and i just- adore it. i've never been more excited to see the future of minecraft in my life, and i've never been more proud to be part of a community as much as i am with minecraft. I for one cannot wait to see whats in store for the future. good luck Lena!
Sometimes I sit in my world listening to the song and it doesn’t even seem like 5 minutes of listen and more like 20 seconds. Just makes me sit there and remember my old minecraft days. “Comforting memories” hits the most with all of this
@@howtoeatanelephant5745 I think you only hear this play in the deep dark. Makes me think of a city on alert with the bell chiming at the start. Maybe the warden is coming, or maybe something more terrifying that they hope the warden will defend as they give it sacrifices.
God these bring back memories. Just so many memories. I remember I'd play the game with my sis on our ipads and just build a town in creative, or dig a house into a cliffside. I've stopped playing now, but I think I'll reinstall the game a bit later, hop in on a server and... Actually I don't know what I'll do, just that it'll be fun.
'Stand Tall' is my favorite Lena Raine / Kumi Tanioka Minecraft track so far; just hearing it now writing this review, I'm getting goosebumps. All of these new tracks are really great, worthy successors to C418's unforgettable masterwork, with a whole new vibe of their own that makes them feel instantly familiar. Bravo!
C418's music and Raine's music are definitely vastly different, though there is one very interesting thing I observed here between the OST's and the development of Minecraft. C418's music is simple, repetitive (in the sense of easily followed motifs), and conservatively ambient. His music corresponds perfectly with the simplicity of the older versions of Minecraft, think 1.4-1.8, where the game objective was simple, and despite being an infinite world for imagination, Minecraft of the old was far more "finite" than the Minecraft we have now. As more and more, larger and more detailed major updates game to the game, the purpose of exploration and nomadic gameplay became more and more prevalent, and with that arose a need for a soundtrack that was representative of these changes. That's where Lena Raine's modern ambience comes in, her music, ideas, and instrumentation pooling with color and emotion in the background of the now vastly larger, diverse, and expansive open-world game we now know as Minecraft.
i initially thought, "oh no... they're really going to lose the original soundtrack? it's probably not going to be too great", but i was so wrong. the composers effectively captured the atmosphere minecraft's original soundtrack has always possessed. this'll definitely be nostalgic to minecraft's new players in the future, i hope that they all feel the same heartache that we currently feel... the happy memories, the friends we made along the way, the mix of emotions, the worlds we created and lost, the creations we proudly built... i hope they all miss it as much as we do. music truly is a beautiful thing
@@ParakeetDSi idk how to explain it but the original soundtrack has that close significance to ppl who have played it for a long time. i mean i've only really played minecraft since 2013, but i've heard it many times so it gives me that nostalgia if u know what i mean. IF in the future, they completely rewrite the soundtrack rather than just simply ADDING songs, players like me who have played minecraft for quite some time will rlly miss it
This is how you change a game that will last for generations. Adding on with the spirit of the original. They aren't instant bangers like C418's stuff but I can kind of appreciate purer ambient pieces with no apparent theme or direction. Now we’re in our late teens and early twenties and the music holds a special place in our hearts and brings back all the nostalgic memories of when we were just kids. what i really, really like about raine & tanioka is how much they remind me of the concept arts - especially for 1.18. minecraft, to me as a person who heavily focuses on the building side and likes to take things slow, avoid dying, etc, fits this kind of atmospheric, gentle vibe really well. most of the songs (which i can see as like overworld fishing songs, grinding for mending books the old-fashioned way) give me the sort of open-ended vibe that c418 lacked. the lack of overarching theme almost invites me to make the story myself, to build a house and enjoy the game.
there will always be a place in my heart for c418. always. but there's going to be a separate place for raine & tanioka too.
"Stand Tall" may have one of the strongest openings to a piece I've ever heard, but I can't say I'm in love with the rest of it. Still a great track, but would loved to see have seen a more fleshed out version of that original theme at the start. Great work to all the artists!!
Weirdly, Stand Tall reminds me of the soundtrack of anime (monogatari series in particular). Maybe it's just because piano.
i feel like minecraft soundtracks are delibrately not that good the whole way through. It would be too memorable. They're meant to be the background sound that sticks in your mind without you knowing it.

@@timohara7717 I love listening to it but it's probably a bad minecraft song cos I get distracted just jamming lol. More music is always good.

Ancestry should be a Nether or End theme, not Overworld

It shows a brand new world where anything is possible, just as how childhood transitions into a confusing time of what is labelled "maturity."
The new music, above all else, made me feel like a father, staring at a grown son or daughter.
Never. Ever. Forget.
You wrote more words and spoke in such a way that I just seemed like minecraft are the pillars to my childhood
Wow that was epic

Something I notice no one talks about is “Comforting Memories” because that has to be a Minecraft player’s nostalgia incarnate. Every time I hear it, I always stop what I’m doing and just admire my Minecraft world because it always makes me think of the worlds I shared with my friends of the past - worlds I sadly cannot revisit myself. The fact that it’s called “Comforting Memories” really lays into the beautiful piano melody that is reminiscent of C418’s earlier Minecraft tracks. That song makes me tear up every time. Thank you, Kumi Tanioka and Lena Raine.
i love how unique the 1.18 soundtrack is, and how calming and majestic it seems - really reflects the legacy of minecraft and the vision the devs had when making this update. amazing how a soundtrack like this can create the feeling of nostalgia, even from the first time you hear it
Yeah I got that nostalgic feeling for left to bloom very specifically for some reason
Comforting memories is like a mix between “subwoofer lullaby”, Earthbound and space
I've been playing minecraft since release and it's a little heartbreaking to listen to the new soundtrack. I grew up on C418, but as the game is evolving it's time for a new chapter. It gives me HELLA botw vibes and I'm all for it! But C418's soundtrack will always be my favorite.
I was definitely thinking the same thing about the new soundtrack being very botw esc
Yeah the ambience with occasional instruments chiming in felt a lot like BotW
I remember when C418 created Minecraft Volume Beta a lot of players hated it, but now its nearly as beloved as the original tracks of the game. I feel that its very likely that more people will warm up to these songs soon enough. Also I highly recommend looking at some more of Lena Raine's work because I feel like the ambient themes don't entirely do her justice.
Aside the space explorer vibes I get at times I think these are a lovely addition. Perhaps that feeling will wear off with familiarity...
Lena Raine has always had an ambient style like C418, but she mixes it very well her unique take on melody and motifs. She's the perfect evolutionary step for Minecraft music!

Lena Raine is perfect. Captures everything I loved about the old soundtracks, beautiful and mysterious.
Kumi's music, dude... Oh my god.
i like it that while lena's music is more progressive and gives that "the thing is evolving!" vibe, kumi's makes more nostalgic ones. with clear references to nostalgia and even c418 himself. like "Comforting Memories"
What a calm music that is comforting and full of memories is assimilated to? obliviously the first times in the game, when you discovered everything, and when you had those comforting moments from the past. but also the musics from daniel. they are a big reference for minecraft nostalgia.
@@The_Copper_Element_Itself Well said, thank you for this comment man. Respect to you. Especially because you allow me to have light in my house lol.

Just like that, within a blink of an eye, 8 years will pass and this soundtrack will become nostalgic.

I don’t play Minecraft anymore so the new music will be unrecognizable to me.

You know the game's soundtrack is always going to be the same right? They are literally ADDING songs to it. How'd you miss that badly?
@@ParakeetDSi idk how to explain it but the original soundtrack has that close significance to ppl who have played it for a long time. i mean i've only really played minecraft since 2013, but i've heard it many times so it gives me that nostalgia if u know what i mean. IF in the future, they completely rewrite the soundtrack rather than just simply ADDING songs, players like me who have played minecraft for quite some time will rlly miss it
