Jobim and Ogerman, a masterful combination and an overwhelming arrangement. A bossa nova classic for the eternity.. I t is Brazll on the top of last century musical scenery.
That's just..sexy. In the most elegant way possible. It's the perfect background track for spending an afternoon ironing and sipping a martini :) At 44 I'm late to the Bossa Nova thing. I totally get it now, though. Have a great summer and thanks for all the great uploads!
Too bad my mom and dad played this around the house, with all other kinds of music. You just danced around the house cleaning etc. Dancing is gone I guess.
MR Vinyl given us with his choice a very angel alike new obseesion. We doesnt be abused of this obsession. We feel lifes attraction and something great woulnerable treasure pleasure. A clever man! Free to go!
Of course not, I have nerves of steel, Bob! I only needed 174 attempts. Everybody can look competent after some video editing. 😏 Hollywood movie stars know this so well... 😜
Hello Rui: Beautiful double play Bossa nova and Samba music, both , are a large world :) This album plays very nice, I presume is a remastered edition! :) As usual on your channel Great video, :) Best!
Thanks Raul. Yes, It's a 2010 remastered reissue. It's made in EU, and has the Verve/Universal label on the disc instead of Verve only, like the old original. The gatefold is an exact reproduction of the original. My version is this one: www.discogs.com/Antonio-Carlos-Jobim-The-Composer-Of-Desafinado-Plays/release/2627573 I also have this Doxy reissue in clear translucent vinyl: ua-cam.com/video/9tt3c4Ed5kQ/v-deo.html
Hello Rui: Yes I remember your translucent issue.. You mentioned this black vinyl edition is better, :) I see, the price for this vinyl is very nice, really great music for less price :) Best!
I don't see a lot of things saying "Made in Brasil" but let's face it: With women, music and beaches like that how could they even begin to label it in a way that would give it justice? I just take my hat off and bow.
Oh, i prefer this Shure! The 1042 has an engaging sound, but the treble is a bit harsh and grany. Also, the Shure is a better tracker. Although i must say that for me, the silky sound of this Shure is less appropriate for heavy rock or dance music, etc. But that's just me, others may have a different oppinion.
Though there will come a day when I have to give it up, I still love my Shure V15 Type V. There are lot of more expensive carts out there, but for music like this, haven't found one that sounds better. Excellent comment Grim.
Great sound as always! I'm thinking of getting back into vinyl and was wondering if you are available offline, perhaps by email to discuss and let me pick your brain? I have been away from records and am pretty much all digital, but I miss the warmth of vinyl.
So I am just starting to get into High Fidelity audio and I am by no means an expert but I have to say I watch these videos and I go over to a buddies house that I used to work with who has the full setup with the real to reals and the $2,500 record players and the fancy speakers and I just don't see how people say vinyl is the way to go yes I get it has that feeling and it's nice to have something old school but I always even with my untrained ear hear imperfections in the music because of the format. So yes a record player might be more fun but it just can't compete with the clarity of CD in my opinion. I am about to get myself a nice new setup and I was wondering how everyone is actually buying music nowadays I mean is there such thing as high quality audio CDs or are they all the same... what choice is there other than record and cd?? Also if I go on to say Amazon music and download an audio track what quality is it compared to a CD?
How much does surface noise, etc., distract you? Not everyone will be equally distracted. As for clarity, much will depend on the LP's source. Too many of today's LP's have simply cut a low-resolution digital master, thus giving the worst of both worlds.
No, not a 1963 original. European reissue from 2010, with a Verve/Universal label. It's this one: www.discogs.com/Antonio-Carlos-Jobim-The-Composer-Of-Desafinado-Plays/release/2627573
II could find a copy of 1963 almost new, I also thought to buy the 2014/2015/2017 edition, but I was lucky to find that in very good aesthetic and sound ... NM ... I also have it in original CD of 1985 (first edition on CD), the later edition ones are heard different, because they have been remastered quite apparently and the original sound is lost ....
Magnific. Jobim is the best composer of the American continent, along Wirth George Gershwin and Astor Piazzolla.
You missed some others Monk, Ellington, Golson, Berlin etc
Jobim is Latim America s most talented musician, of whom all Brazilians like me are proud of.
Your country has a rich history of musicians, futbolers and women. All of them beautiful. It must be a paradise.

Jobim and Ogerman were elegant in everything they did together, or separately. This was their first collaboration.
This was nice
Smooth and sultry! Perfect, Rui!

You're welcome! And how do you manage to manually cue the track so well? Was this your 235th attempt? Lol!

Usted conoce la m 44 la original no la reelección
Comparada con la m91 hay mucha diferencia?
Saludos y muchas gracias

Love your videos. Could you recommend a needle cartridge in the $300 range? Thank you

Great sound , nice wide open sound stage and imaging. I really love my newly acquired Shure 91ed How do you think it compares to your Goldring 1042?

That is exactly my thoughts too. It has been a while since i last heard my 1042 but it never sounded anywhere near as good as my 91 or my M75 either.
Though there will come a day when I have to give it up, I still love my Shure V15 Type V. There are lot of more expensive carts out there, but for music like this, haven't found one that sounds better. Excellent comment Grim.
Which stylus do you have installed on this Shure?... ED, HE, SAS. other?
socksumi It's the Jico neo SAS
Great sound as always! I'm thinking of getting back into vinyl and was wondering if you are available offline, perhaps by email to discuss and let me pick your brain? I have been away from records and am pretty much all digital, but I miss the warmth of vinyl.
Not just warmth, musical transparency when cut from analog or high-res digital sources.
Brazilian genius
