Great but not in a conventional way, i guess. She didn't have a great vocal range, but the bossa nova style didn't need powerful voices. Actually, it works better with soft vocals.
Rui you're killing me! I have the same Lp 😂 yours sounds cleaner, less noise, though. Nowadays when I wanna play my LPs at work I just play your videos 😎 Best sound on youtube👍🏻👍🏻 P.s. I lived and worked in Estoril for 2 years and i'm fluent in portuguese
Thanks man, or should i say "Obrigado, pá" ;) Yes, i know you've been here, i still remember our conversation on the Mario Biondi video. 😉 I have two copies of this album: this one from 1965, and also a 2010 remastered reissue. This copy with more than 50 years completely destroys the reissue in sound quality. I only had to give it a good cleaning, and amazingly the clicks and pops pretty much disappeared. Also, the reissue puts the vocals far in the end of the room, and with a slight boost on the bass, while the original puts her voice up front for more intimacy, which i think is more appropriate for this kind of music. The only drawback of the original is a slight harshness or grain in the mids, but i noticed this quite often on old copies from the 60s. Not sure why!
MrVinylObsessive I agree. The reissues are so hit&miss these days! I too prefer the way they recorded them in the 50s-60s...voice strongly present. I think the microphones they used back then were more sensitive to the midrange, a lot less to bass and treble. I have an agreement with my local vinyl store...I buy the LPs, but if I don't like it I take it back immediately for a credit.
I read somewhere that it had something to do with the way their monitoring speakers worked in studio, and consequently, they EQ to compensate. So, maybe less accurate monitoring with recessed mids, is the explanation? Or more likely, maybe it was just the trend and the sonic aesthetics of the time? Who knows? I'm not sure about the mics, because even today many studios choose vintage mics for their wonderful sound. In fact, many modern designs try to emulate the sound of the old stuff. There's a curious fact about the technical evolution in audio: If we are talking about electronics, and computer chips, yes, there was an incredible evolution, but if the subject is microphones and headphones, then, more recent doesn't mean necessarly better. The same applies to cartridges and transducers in general. Transducers seem to have a very long life before being considered outdated. In photography happens the same, a good lens will last many, many years regarding its optical qualities, but the camera itself with its electronics, chips, complex metering systems, etc, will be outdated in just a few years.
Babete preparado?
AhAh, pois é, esqueci-me do babete, apanhaste-me desprevenido.
Hi Bob. Those were big names in the recording industry at the time, especially with jazz music. Rudy van Gelder wasn't the recording engineer on this one, but he did the mastering. In those days they would record all the songs of an LP in just two days, like on this one. A big contrast with modern productions where they can spend months recording and fine tunning details obsessively.
Do you hear distortion at 1:46 on the word LOVE? I don't know if that's the recording or my speaker buzzing. edit: It happens in the next phrase too on the word "I've". It's not my speakers, it happens on headphones too.
this was as soft and relaxing as watching clouds float by.....very, very nice! Another great upload MrVinylObsessive!
Haven't heard Dindi for years. Thanks for the upload
Such a great voice

Thanks for these lovely sounds. I think I need some Stan Getz now. That is a very flat, straight disc, trust Germans.
Very soft, very short. Thanks for sharing !
Love that Eroica. Great sound.
I'm pleased you liked. :)
Ever so lovely
