The key thing here that was said is that he's definitely out of touch with the player base. Guardians of the Rift definitely becomes a chore at some point like all grinds do, but it's such an absurdly massive improvement to the former system that its actually bearable. Him saying that it's dogshit content is definitely just because he's been maxed and doesn't actually get anything out of being there.
Heck, when playing solo, it's even quite fun. It's basically tower defense minigame at that point.
I’m maxed caped, albeit a main, and I love GotR and wish it was out when I was grinding for max in 2020 and 2021. I still do some GotR to get the outfit and all the other log slots in case I ever wanna grind out the RC pet which I didn’t get during my Zeah grind.
I think all the new mini games they've added have improved the game. Clicking the same few spots over and over was essentially most skills in the game, and now we have ways to skill without it being braindead. Afk, money making, afk money making, tick manipulation; fastest xp, mini game; requires more attention than afk and less clicks than tick, etc. The more mini games/raids added the better the game will be imo.

Only early on so far, but I noticed you saying this both in your own reaction video and this one at 3:22... I often shopscape for death runes (doing it more recently thanks to the whisperer and not getting lucky on death rune drops) and I'd say 90% of the time I'm competing with someone for the runes. I almost never get into the shop interface and see the full 250 there, so I go with the same strategy as the one you mentioned: After hopping a few worlds to determine the direction they're going on the world list, I try to hop ahead of them, and most of the time it indeed works as I buy out the runes ahead of this other player...but that doesn't mean the competition suddenly isn't a problem. Just because *I* am no longer suffering the pain points of the competition doesn't mean it suddenly doesn't exist. Instead I've simply shoved that pain point onto the other player I jumped ahead of, and now *they're* the ones finding the rune shop empty of death runes.
I fully agree on the point that it'd be fine to have both blood packs (for when you're trying to stock up quick for a couple raids) and the scar mine (for when you want to use your cash stack to rack up runes for the long term), I just keep getting confused whenever you talk about that one point about the shop competition. Am I missing something with what you're saying? Just because you're winning in the competition doesn't mean there's no competition at all.

He kept going back to the 250k blood runes an hour figure, but it's like he's not considering that it costs 600m. Not many people have the spare cash to just blow 600m on that, especially ironmen.

ironman mode slowly getting twisted into a mode where you can skip grinds for GP is not good for the mode. the whole point is for a player to take on a more challenging and manual mode where GP can't skip the grind. he is right that a lot of people want the pvm dopamine of iron but refuse to embrace the skilling element
I think this would also have the beniefit of reducing loading on the servers with people not hopping around as much. I will updoot everything that reduces shopscape.

My issue with this has to do with merging this with guardians of the rift and crafting so many runes when doing it this way that you get tons of rewards and then profit that way
Completely random comment that sort of misses the point of the video, but if you're an ironman buying soul runes, get the from Ali in Al'Kharid after the feud quest. His rune shop prices don't change, so you can buy all 100 he has without them getting more expensive.
As an endgame iron with a tumeken, I dont need this update but would never want fellow irons to have to hop 100 worlds like I had too just to get runes......
Solution: put the only shop where you can buy blood runes in 30+ wilderness
So here's how it works: if you were to do 1 hour, consisting of exaclty how much essence you need and then crafting those essence, you'd make 200-250k blood runes.
Secondly, the outfit bonuses and blood essence, only apply on the base rune essence.
The scar stuff is like a new blood essence, but its stackable. So its a bonus on top, and does not muiltiply with the outfit or blood essence. Meaning their bonuses are additive instead of multiplicative.
IE: outfit does nothing to the runes from this update.
I hope that clarifies some misunderstandings, and all of this is very confusing to communicate/interpret as the topics are complex.
I love Sae Bae. I love his Rambles and for a long time I agreed with everything he says. Recently I haven't really agreed with him a lot though. This isn't one of those times. I do think these first two videos tbh he does a pretty poor job of getting his ideas out, which happens sometimes when you react to something first thing in the morning. I do agree with him on a few things.
1. Shopscape is awful no one likes it.
2. Buying things with GP is against the spirit of what the Ironman Gamemode is all about.
3. Shopscape should be removed from Ironman mode completely.
4. Removing shopscape is a difficult thing to do because it is so engrained in how the ironman gamemode is currently played. It would take some unique and cool ideas to get the community to buy into it.
4.5. These are ideas are made even harder because a lot of them would mean increasing the amount of runes / hr you can get by RC which would effect the main's economy, so you would need buy in from the entire community to do it.
I disagree with his point that the Scar Essence mine is a worse option then blood packs. I agree that 250k runes/hr is probably too many and 100k or 125k is probably fine.
As an iron no one likes shopscape, but we do it out of a necessity sometimes. You can't even craft astrals or receive them as a drop by the time you can unlock lunars. And all these charged weapons at the end game that you grind for require the same fucking rune to even use, or for shadow they use so many that it's hardly viable to use. Yes you can runecraft your runes at some points, and I do rc a decent bit but if all the gear is designed solely around mains getting infinite runes at the cheap because bots, skillers, and bosse drops deflate the prices so it becomes a non-issue for them but require hours of back end work to use for only a few hour as a iron then either the economy for irons isn't designed well or the gear isn't designed well around the game mode.
Also, we need gp to be useful somewhere in late game irons, because it's really only used in shops buying runes now. If it's between spending 30mins buying in a shop or 30mins doing anything else to get the runes you need but spending the same amount of gp then please let us have anything else. Have it be like a kingdom of kourend thing where you put money in and get x amount of runes out every day even, idk if this is the solution but it's something better than just shopscape while letting irons use gp on something.
@@CatNibbles I 99% agree with everything you're saying. I only think it's viable to get rid of shopscape if we can produce some sort of alternative solution ( hopefully via actual RC) that makes it viable for late game irons to actually make the amount of runes they need in a realistic amount of time. For example, I think it's actually insane that you have to spend 1 hour RC just to facilitate 2 hours of bursting. It just shouldn't be that way. and that's at 99 with all the outfits and everything mind you, if you don't have all the bonuses its 1 to 1.
I disagree that we need GP to do something for late game irons. In my personal opinion, GP is a mechanism for players to buy things for and from other players. The same way that currency in the real world holds value only because people give it value to use in trade. Irons don't trade. Irons don't barter. Irons don't need GP to be useful. In my opinion the whole idea of Ironman mode is to play the game without trading and hence there is no need for GP. I think it's fine to have GP work in the early game the way it currently does because of the way that smithing is so dog. But for late game irons that are bought in I don't think they need a place to spend their GP because that isn't the game mode they signed up for.
The problem with having higher stock shop but making you unable to hop is it turns into a daily like on rs3. gotta do 30 mins of daily shop runs to make sure you don't run out of runes/meat ect
Could always reduce the cost needed to power these staves instead of making the runes easier to obtain. That affects both iron man and normal content though. Don't see how this is a problem seeing no iron player has the kind of money to fund this in bulk amounts.
as an endgame iron, i would just put my raiment of the eye outfit on and go do true bloods for a few hours if i needed bloods like i always do, idk this all feels like a giant nothing burger, the proposed update, the different takes, all of it

atm, diary cape, outfit, blood essence you can make 6k bloods/hr lazily teleporting to jar for bank, lessar fan for abyss, nardah tele for energy. i feel more if you push urself, but its basicly just the run thru the abyss and if pkers get on you youll lose nothing but essence cuz its all untradeable under 20 wild. idk about you, but even pedal to the metal sanging/scything i cant use 6k bloods an hour, then theres kourend for like 1or 2k/hr or but theres small chance you are only there an hour cuz its so chill

heres a really good point about shopscape the os devs hav litteraly said multiple times they are trying to focus on NOT adding a new fricken differant types of currency like trading sticks and the sort they are trying to focus on new content either using exsisting conten currency or outright omit and do something differant and if we are reeeeeeally getting down to the knitty gritty when in reference of rc we have pearls currently...... try and lok at it this way weather is essance, pure essance, dalt, ect.....thats a form of currency aswell with the runecraft level being the thing that sets how much 1 token is worth at what level. with this new update think like that its variety as another alternate way to get a desired commodity its anadditianal runecraft expantion for mid late gamers but i do agree ppl with more of the game under them selfs tends to disconnect from the lower down the ladder of the game as you playt you learn things to do things better and most high level ppl hate rc and don't want anykind of updates for it gotr litteraly had backlash untill it releas and didn't settle down untill they had something else to complain about

shop scape is what it is, i personally hate hopping for low quantity stuff. buying runes is generally fine cause i only need to hop 10 worlds to have enough for what i want. shop scape as it is is necessary for ultimate irons for some stuff like crafting for example.
Why does it feel like ppl are misunderstanding
If you can get 25,000 extracts in an hour, thats 417 a minute. Similar to catching minnows with 95+ fishing for example.
(Note, the post said “allow players to obtain blood runes extremely quickly”. Not “afk mine for a long time for a lot of blood runes” also)
So in 1 minute you’ve mined 417 tainted essence, plop it in the extractor, pay 10m gp, and get 417 stackable sacred extract. 1 trip to the blood alter is like 3k bloods (~50 sacred extract used)
You’re only buying 200-250 bloods per world when hopping, and the price rises above 400 quickly in shops, making it actually more expensive to shopscape.
So, to use up the essence it took 1 minute to mine would take ~8 trips (giant pouch) granting 25k blood runes.
Which is 10m.. the price youd pay at the lowest shop price without it ever rising above 400gp lol
So you can either: hop to 12-15 worlds buying 200/250 bloods each to get 3k bloods to go raid with the boiz
Or do one quick run to the blood altar and get 3k bloods in one go
Sae's vids are fun to watch and very informative but I believe he doesn't understand what he reads sometimes because maybe he's moving too fast and he might be kinda detached from the average person

This is literally just improving shopscape. It's slightly faster, and it has you do actual content instead of just hopping all day long. It might not be the best solution but it's an improvement. I disagree that people won't do it, though. They'll do it for fifteen minutes and be done instead of shopscaping for 30 minutes. And that's perfectly okay.
My suggestion, Infinite Cheap Rune Shop...BUT it's in Level 50 Wilderness!

Really the statement of "PVM is just more fun" is true. Like getitng into the game I dont WANT to do any of the skilling. I do it because I HAVE to. If it wasn't a requirement for other content i probably wouldn't touch most of it.
Sure the skilling bosses are enjoyable occasionally. The minigames can be fun. But that's because there's engagement. Much like raids you're actually playing something. Most skilling doesn't have that. The rate of which you train the skill is probably the same regardless of how much attention you pay to it so why bother paying attention at all.
Sure you can tick manipulate but I really dont care enough about mining to sit there for an hour doing frame percect clicks jus to get it done faster i'd really rather just watch a youtube video and afk stars because that's just genuinely more enjoyable.

The TL;DR for the outrage is because with this update Ironmen can obtain Blood runes 40 times faster than a main can with using the GE, so it's turning Ironman mode into some weird GP IronScape mode. Imagine being able to obtain Blood runes 40 times quicker than a main can via the GE on a game mode that's supposedly restricted from trading/GE because that's EasyScape.

Saying that wanting to have fun playing a videogame is cringe is kinda cringe tbh honest.
Don't entirely agree on the local shop idea unless the stock was significantly larger. This is because it's going to promote a rather horrible gameplay loop that turns runescape into dailyscape, where you deplete shop stocks daily (or at whatever time intervals) in order to get the supplies you want. Sure you don't have to do this, but the efficient player will definitely do this and I think it's arguably a worse gameplay loop than current shopscape.
i hate the fact you barely make gp doing skilling, and they still haven't added slayer partners into the game

Yeah personally I don't find this update really necessary... I agree with the King that it won't make such a big difference, I never bought blood runes and I was never hurting for them, my friend who is an ironman has waaaaaay more blood runes and all runes than me, and never even had to do gotr for it... He just does tons of pvm and slayer, apart from skilling, and gets flushed with bloods, but I highly disagree with the statement of skilling not being fun, or dead, or anything like that. I am more of a skiller than a pvm-er and personally enjoy skilling more than combat most of the time, it's more chill, I enjoy making money and juggling the funds to make more materials for levelling up other skills... I guess this update is good for ironmen who has not done sins of the father yet and can't make bloods, because gotr doesn't give THAT much. But it's a hot take saying that skilling isn't fun, especially considering how much love the most boring skills have seen over the last few years and Jagex making them MUCH more fun than they were before... People tend to forget that, and just complain about everything once it's not super new anymore. 🤔
Oh and saying that skilling isn't fun and pvm is is the same argument as saying I like to do martial arts and parkour but I hate training. I have to put in the work, the conditioning, the stretching, a healthy diet, sleep, all that, and of course that is not fun. But you can't do something meaningful and rewarding without putting the work in, I think that is why it must be so much fun playing an iron man too, because you have to do the skilling in order to do the pvm, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
I can't imagine why the idea of "Ok, if we're not going to make runecraft better, just give us rune packs instead of the scar mine" would be remotely close to the right decision. The entire point of the update is to stop people from having to shopscape, using the fact that runecraft isn't being drastically improved as your basis to further incentivize shopscape just leaves me utterly baffled. If both scar mine and packs arrive in the game, then sure, I can work with that, they can serve different purposes, but only adding the packs just dives deeper into shopscape.
This is just shopscape though. So if the point is just to help people get runes for money on an iron may as well just add the packs instead of wasting dev time. If you did this method for say 2 hours mining then crafting you'd be set for like half a year. At that point you've functionally just removed runecrafting as what else do end game irons spend money on? You can't decouple sae's two opinions of removed/nerf shopscape and nerf the rates from this. You wouldn't incentivize shopscape because he wants it removed/nerfed.
You're not wrong, it is still shopscape in terms of trading money for runes at high rates. However, the idea does remove the other pain points involved with shopscape: spending lots of time in a shop, world hopping, and possible competition with other players (which I know I certainly do when getting death runes, I hate the whole process).
It's been stated by a jmod on reddit that this would be a low dev time update, so I think the time used to remove those pain points would be worth it for a short term solution while a longer term fix for the skill as a whole is worked on (assuming Jagex is working on it at all). Simply leaning further in to those pain points may be the shortest possible turnaround time, but it also just ignores the goal of adding a fix to the immediate issue of "players don't enjoy shopscape".
As for concerns with the rates, remember that the only reason the rates are as high as they are is specifically to combat current shopscape so people aren't going through those pain points. If a future update arrives that removes shopscape entirely, the rates can be changed to suit whatever new rebalanced method arrives as a weaker afk option with a small monetary cost.
@@andrethyst905 you are decoupling the opinion. This both shouldn’t go through with these rates and shops should be nerfed. It’s is a two for one thing. Sae bae even mentions fixes like locking the shop per person instead of per world so you can’t hop worlds to buy more runes. I think we should buff blood rune rates and nerf/remove shopscape. It’s stupid to put in a bandaid fix instead of addressing the root problem shops. So any solution that keeps shops as they are now isn’t a solution to the problem. It would be like if jagex said people buys inferno capes is an issue but rather than dealing with the problem as it would take too much time or might not be popular they’re just going to allow you to buy one with gp.
I feel like skilling should be as fun and engaging as pvm, but I guess the only way for that to work properly is to introduce some form of risk to the content which does not exist for any skilling method other than what, zolcano and wt? Tempoross is mostly risk-free but does have some level of engagement that seeks to fill that itch. Idk man.
His big issue is the amount of runes.. so we have to dismiss the whole concept and idea altogether..

skilling is great but it's a side activity, it's not even supposed to be the core and most engaging gameplay.
A better idea would be to make a permanent overpowered blood essence unique.
Make irons grind some boss (PVM or Skilling boss) that drops a permanent essence that is charged with coins and gives 30x runes. That's more in the spirit of ironman: in order to get runes faster in the future, you have to spend time grinding this boss, so it's effectively trading time doing one thing for the other (kind of like dayelt essence)
People in mmos have this brain defect where they think of having their time wasted is a badge of honour that they're proud of. For anyone to argue the shop scape is a good thing in rs is delusional.

Yeah this guy went overboard but as a programmer I'd say theres a vast amount of interesting things that could be done with skilling to make it more engaging & fun than it is now. But the problem is the gatekeepers who refuse to let skilling change because they want all other players to experience what they did as a rite of passage. The game is in a chokehold by osrs purists.
I think this is fundamentally against the idea of an Ironman.
This potentially makes training rune crafting above 77 (90 for souls) pointless for ironman. As long as you have money, you could basically buy all the blood runes you could ever need and have them all right after getting 77rc.
There is a reason why we don't have a fast way of getting 1k Sara brews and restores as an iron. If you want to be able to just use money to get supplies, well that's what mains are for.
you can already buy bloodrunes tho, it's just very shitty having to constantly hop and compete with others
They have buffed blood rune crafting multiple times. Use blood essence and craft bloods for a couple hours. Not that big of a deal. If you don't want to craft runes/have the level then train. The point of ironman is to self sustain and obtain things yourself if you want to shopscape then do it but no one is forcing you and you can craft like 6kbloods an hour not even sweating and that's pretty damn good. If all you want is PVM without skilling then play a main. 🤷♂@@ePiiCeaglepwner
@@ePiiCeaglepwner yes, but to me that's exactly the point: it is inconvenient and impractical because it is supposed to be. That gives you a reason to actually runecraft, as opposed to just buying it from the shop.
If you end the inconvenience aspect of it (or keep the inconvenience, but greatly increase the rate of bloods you can get), then there is no downside to it except for the money - which is exactly what you don't want from the ironman game mode.

40k bloods per hour would be 8m gp/hr. Good luck passing that unless you make this method of runecrafting that many bloods somehow make the blood runes untradeable. Like bound to your account.
