    I haven’t heard ANYONE say that it’s bad. So the title just doesn’t make sense. I’ve mostly heard positives about it.

    Personally I love the small size and the image quality is fantastic. Auto focus is also great. I think it’s a great value the price.

    Canon's APSC cameras are actually very good. I used an R7 as a professional photojournalist for quite a while, and even with old glass, was more than able to keep up with the big dogs at Reuters and AP dumping $10k+ on R3s and A1s with the newest glass. I wish, however, they put the same R&D into quality, L-series APSC focused glass. I'm glad they opened the RF-S mount to Sigma, but I think a canon competitor to something like the Sigma 50-100 1.8 could be *killer.* Canon's strong point IMHO has always been their cutting edge, unique lens designs, and it's a crying shame they seem uninterested in bringing that to APSC.

      absolutely! Canon is definitely treating APSC as an exclusively beginner level sensor, but when it comes to photography, they can compete at pro levels! I'd love to see them build an APSC camera with pro-grade software. I wonder if the smaller sensor could increase processing speed for things like burst photos etc.

      @@JosephMartin That's what the R7 is. If you'd have somehow fooled me into thinking the little bugger was a full frame camera, with the body features, software, and speed of that camera, I'd have assumed it was a 4 or 5 thousand dollar body. Seriously. You should give an R7 a try if you ever have the chance.

      the main problem is the severe rolling shutter in videos , around 33ms in full readout - leading to a 1,7x crop in 4k60

    • @kyleanderson9281
      @kyleanderson9281 Місяць тому

      @@JJARCHIE The crops for certain video formats aren't ideal, sure - but I shot lots of video with my R7 and never had a problem that was distracting or anything for my uses.
      That kind of stuff can be worked out, too. I just sadly don't think the Canon community will show the demand for it in that sector. Any Canon shooters looking for top-end video specs probably just bought an R5, R6, or the appropriate II editions.

      @@kyleanderson9281 why don't Canon turn their aps-c camera sensors into backside-illuminated?

    I was thinking to buy r50 for start. I hope it will be usefull for making short films or any of my school projects. Would it be really useless? I mean half hour is really limited for works.

      It totally depends on your needs! Plenty of creators would find this camera to be more than enough- others need higher end features. In the end, it’s up to you!

    I'd rather get second hand Sony a6400 for 600USD than to buy R50 brand new.

    What camera and lens did you shoot this video on? The R6 and what lens? The autofocus was continuously going in and out and the focus breathing on that lens made it nauseating

    • @JosephMartin
      @JosephMartin  Місяць тому +1

      It’s the R6 and the Canon EF 16-35 f4 L. I noticed that one shot on the boardwalk had a lot of trouble with AF for some reason and it’s not the first time that’s happened with this lens. Maybe an issue with adapting EF to RF mount?

      thanks! I suppose budget is all relative, but this is one of the cheapest options Canon has available and lacks some of the features common in pro or pro-sumer camera bodies.
