I'm going to show you how to quickly and easily remove spray paint from any dirt bike plastics, quad plastics, or any other motor sport vehicle. This method in my experience does not harm the plastics in any way and does not remove or dull the shine of the plastic parts. I would advise removing all plastics from the motorized vehicle before using this method as it will remove paint from other surfaces also.

Can't find the stripper you used
Thank u bro u saved me from buying new plastic for my suzuki rm 85 2007 it has been stolen for 6 ago
Did you find it ? And where I can’t find this stuff anywhere
THANK YOU SAVE ME FROM HAVING TO BUY A NEW PLASTICS NOW IT'S TIME TO GET THE PAINT OFF THE FRAME IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY POWDER BUT I FOUND OUT HOW TRUE THAT WAS LOL
you cant powder coat plastic they would melt in the oven
The best thing I have ever used is carb cleaner. Takes the paint completely off and cleaned the plastics so well and the new paint really stuck to it after that.
Underrated comment. Thanks for saving me the $20 or whatever they would have charged to drop ship that Permatex stuff from the vid. Nobody here sells it. But they do sell carb cleaner, for like three bucks a can.
Did the carb cleaner spray mess up the original plastic color??? Or only the spray paint? Thanks
Also curious if carb cleaner only took off the spray paint or the original paint on the plastic as well. I have a football helmet I need to remove spray paint from and don’t want to mess up the original paint underneath
Wish I seen this before I got some paint thinner
doesnt work like this stripper though. the carb cleaner takes quite a bit of rubbing with a towel or paper towel whereas this stripper seems to flake it all off cleanly.
STOP! Before you buy this product, you should know it has been replaced by an lousy new formula. The part number you want is 80577, NOT 80578, which is basically just acetone. There are still some cans of 577 out there and this is probably what is in this video.
Oh and 80577 is still available in Canada.
Thanks for this info I was unaware.
US Part Number: 80578
Canada Part Number: 80577 I think they are still the same
Thank you I've been working on these plastics for 2 years and it does work
Brake fluid will strip spray paint from plastics...it's not quick but it does work..
Life hack spray up into you’re forks with the power washer to clean the inside of them😂
Wow it cleaned all the dirt out... And the gasket :D
Will help on my 95 Polaris trailblazer 250.
just purchased a 96 zzr600 for cheap, the bike was stolen before and whoever stole it spray painted it white and it’s chipping. I was having such a hard time finding fairings for the bike since it’s older. I’m gonna try this and try to get the bike back to it’s oem green.
Thank you.
Product name plz
Ohhh
Never thought of it
Thanks
Acetone does the same thing. I've used it for years to restore exterior plastic on cars
Acetone actually melts the surface of the plastic to create a shine. They use acetone vapor to give the shine to screw driver handles.
but acetone evaporates very quickly takes more chemical and work.
@ Brapper Dan! Thanks for the info, I have sprayed paint over my original paint and I want to retrieve the original bike paint, question: Can I use the same products you mentioned in your video?
Appreciate your feedback.
You can use it on the plastic but if you spray it on the frame it’s going to take the original paint off too.
Too bad we can't use a pressure washer when the parts are off the bike. No way to hold them down and spray them.....thanks for the video!
What would you recommend to use now? I can't find that can anywhere
I would probably get some other type of paint stripper and do a smell test patch to make sure the plastic isn’t getting damaged. Do that until you find a brand that isn’t damaging the plastic
I don't know if anyone can answer this question...I have a KLR 650 first gen, the guy I bought it from removed the vinyl and painted the plastic. I want to undo what he did.
I bought a new vinyl kit, but it looks like it doesn't cover all the plastics. The plastic of course is the same color of "factory plastic green". But the original bike makes it look like Kawasaki painted the plastic black and then overlaid vinyl on it? Does anyone know if a vinyl kit should cover the full face of the plastic? Did I buy my vinyl from a bad source?
I bought the vinyl so I wouldn't have to paint the plastic again. And I really don't want to paint the plastic and put vinyl over it lol. I paid a lot for the vinyl... Looks exactly like original factory vinyl. Someone help me make my bike look sexy... I know that's difficult to do with a KLR :D
I’m not sure but usually the graphics don’t cover 100% of the plastic. You can see the plastic on the edges usually.
@@brapperdan awe man, so I might have to go with the usual black background. Maybe krylon is not good on abs. I'm sure there's got to be something that binds way better
@@tylork8025 it’s going to chip off no matter what brand. Just remove the paint.
Does it work on a metal bike frame? Someone stole my bicycle and repainted it with spray paint and the cops found it and brought it back to me
Weijian Huang yup.
It’s going to strip it down to bare metal though
That means the original color will be gone?
Weijian Huang yes. Try acetone on a rag. It’s much more mild and do a small test spot. You might be able to take off the spray paint without removing the original color.
@@brapperdan i will try both. Thanks alot for the help.. cheers
How did the real paint come off? From the jet washer or from that spray paint remover?
shlo goldschmidt paint remover
Will this work on any plastics that were spray painted
Yeah but everyone says it’s hard to find this stuff now. Idk if they still make it
@brapperdan I mean it was 4 years ago maybe online
Awesome vid
Will it work on metal I've got a drz that has been stolen then got it back but they painted the motor so it looks shit
Yes it will take paint off of anything the frame included. And it will ruin plastic and rubber so be careful getting it on other stuff. I’ve heard the formula has changed and isn’t as good anymore but I can’t confirm wether that’s true or not
Like it’s fine for plastics but as far as engine gaskets and wires and stuff I’d be more careful you know
what would it be like to clean the paint off the plastic?
You mean without a power washer? It just wipes off
@@brapperdan I tried to wash it with water, but the paint did not come off my scooter
@@ignasgricius4815 but you used the permatex paint stripper I showed?
@@brapperdan I didn't use it
@@ignasgricius4815 we’ll you can’t wash paint off with just water dude.
Thanks brev
You sound like jesses friend from breaking bad
That made me lol. Not the first time I’ve heard that. He’s more raspy than me I think though
What is this stuff plz????? I need buy this
Permatex paint remover
whats name of that spray
permatex
@@brapperdan hey I don’t know if you are still on yt but I spray painted my dirt bike black and it was a huge mistake can I get this at a store or something what store did you get it from
@@willyjoe3180 I got it from Amazon but I don’t see it on there anymore. Summit racing has it actually.
Now u need new firk seals and tires and all lines and hoses. Cause that eats all soft rubber and u sprayed it all over everything
Maddmavic you must have missed the part where I said I don’t care about that frame. It’s been gone a long time. Obviously if you using it on a bike you care about take the plastics off.
Good video. The green is much nicer than black.
Yeah that’s true
Thanks I got a bike that I bought with a oversized gas tank but someone spray painted it and the gas messed it all up so this will make my bike look snazzy
Question: what do you use next to neutralize the paint stripper before you paint again?
I wouldn’t recommend painting them. As soon as they flex the paint will crack and flake off.
@@brapperdan Alright, but if you wanted to paint it after stripping the paint. What can you use to neutralize the stripper chemicals?
Real Truth acetone. But it’s gonna flake off unless you got some professional car paint and mix flex additive into the paint.
break fluid works like a charm
I been wanting to try break fluid. Does it melt plastic?
Break fluid removes paint?
@@jacobsoto5343it is the best paint remover
👍
would this take the factory paint off a vandalized golf cart or just remove the spray paint?
All the paint
Try acetone that has a better chance of just taking off the spray paint
sub'd thanks
How in the world did u get that permatex!? I can’t find it anywhere! Every Napa store I called are ether out or don’t have it.
Jordan Gardner I think I ordered from amazon I don’t think I could find it local either
Although I don’t see it in there now... 🤔
Spray paint doesn’t still to plastic very good u need buy plasty dip paint
most paint dont stick well to dirt bikes , plasty dip is worse
