What's your favorite color combo?❤💛💙
Blue💙and green💚/Blue💙and Purple💜, they are so pretty together
Ooooh there are so many good ones, but I have to go with seafoam and coral! If I added a third colour it would be like Pantone's Citrus :)
Sage green, warm gold and red
💛💖💚
Currently it's teal and yellow ochre.
That little palette is so much like the ones you see historical artists holding in self-portraits at the easel- they really didn't use nearly as much paint or as many colors as artists do today! On that subject, we thought it was incredibly interesting to see what you did with a slimmer selection of colors! We can kind of understand why you left those panels pristine and untouched for a while- they were so pretty- but they were born to have paint on them, so we're glad to see they fulfilled their reason for existing! Thanks for another wonderful video!
Thanks Blick Crew!
@@artofjesskarp We always get so excited when you have a new video!
My 16-month year old is struggling through a cold right now. Her vocabulary is pretty limited, but when she saw your cat she got *so* excited. I wish you could have heard all her congested "meowing".
Aw!!! Thanks Melissa! I'm so happy it brought some smiles to her! I hope she feels better!!
The blue car is my favorite, it’s so cute!
I love that physical reaction I get when I sit down to create art. My cheeks get warm, as if I’ve had a glass of wine, but it’s just excitement of making things.
Thank you!
Wonderful episode. My dad had real life versions of the turquoise '57 Chevy AND the red '63 split-window Corvette. I chilled beneath warm blankets on a cold day, during my 'check-in'/rest time and enjoyed this video. Great message too....quit waiting, and go where your curious desire guides you. Thank you.
I was soo uninspired to get creative and even thought I had lost the skill. But after this video, I now have all the energy to paint and get into the creative process instead of blaming on anything. Thankyou soooo much to make me believe in myself!!!!!!! Your videos are extraordinary....
Thank you so much!!! :) Amazing!
Really beautiful video jess, love the story throughout the whole thing and how getting started can be intimidating but once you just START, magical things can happen. Love the oil paintings and glad you were able to paint your fun little cars! :)
Thank you!!!
HI jess, I draw everyday. I listen to music of all kinds. The big difference is You and listing to you. I love watching you. I have learned to love art again. You are my art master. I had cancer surgery October 14. I feel God has given me new life.
I know you get a lot of adulation because you are such a good artist and I am so grateful that you don't skip the challenges that you encounter while making art, it lets me know as a beginner that there are no short cuts but the long way is still fun and fruitful. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you for pointing that out and for watching - I want to show that there are no shortcuts Its hard work - THnaks!!
Love the way you painted in the light reflections on the car surfaces, really giving them form!
Thanks!
All three paintings are amazing I love oldies. When I draw I go into another dimention. 4 hours don't feel like four houers. What I really really miss is engraving (my tool brooke and I can't afford new one jet). To set up the working place for engraving and choosing the project I will do is already sothing. Music is always a go to and I really love to use my cd's, go to the reck and surch for the right cd for this very moment and feeling. Yes, I am old 😂. Love it.
Thank you so much!
YOU JUST MADE ME STOP SCROLLING FOR REFERENCES ONLINE AND GET RIGHT INTO SKETCHING FROM MY SURROUNDINGS!! Thank you so much Jess! You are my biggest motivator and inspiration when it comes to creativity and i love you for that! ❤✨
Thanks!
You are so inspiring. I got all the answers for questions in my mind. I was wondering about how to start, You are motivating me. Thank you jess. Love you so much.
Thank you so much. I’m so glad!!
Hi Jess, Your drawing skills with these three cars... wow. Hal
Thank you
With a view like that... I'd have a hard time painting or doing anything. I'd be staring off into the water. So beautiful!!
love you Jess! i really enjoyed this conversation and could not really choose from the 3, they are all a mood 💕
Thank you!
Jess, that is the best thing that you could have ever said, and done in order to get things done in life you have to start somewhere. We have creativity all around us and with in us we just have to be still long enough to let it come through. Thanks for the video. Hopefully it opened up a lot of creativity. In some of us. Artists That are having blocks and don’t know where to start thanks again for the eye-opener as always happy painting❤❤❤❤❤
Love those little cars. And loved that yellow "tug boat" that passed by your window.....your painting are so cute!! I think the blue one is my favorite, tho the red one has "speed streaks". 😊
Jess, I've been an artist since I was a little girl. I'd been in a funk and not able to create for almost 2 years, however it came back to me in the last few weeks and I've been creating non stop. It's been the biggest weight off my shoulders and relief to have my passion back in my life. I just watched this video while working on a piece and it moved me to tears. Thank you.
True to paint what one truly loves...makes the whole difference!!! Awesome...thanks Jess!
i was literally driving through my hometown & the orange trees are in season so i really want to do a trio of orange trees! took a couple quick reference shots out the window & this is definitely motivating me to sketch them out & actually use the inspiration!
Thank you!! Amazing
I'm someone who really waits till I have the right time to draw all the images and quotes I screenshot and save for later. I think your a fantastic artist and you have a great voice and inspirational story
As I started to be creativ again with drawing and painting lets say 3 weeks ago, it's so inspiring to watch your videos. When I heard you say "I have to get warm up" I felt so understood. You don't know me but it simply is my situation. I have to warm up. It will take time bc I didn't draw or paint for more than 25 years. I'v lost the view for the dark and the light and I have to train it anew. In the meantime I will watch your videos, have fun with your art and your creative process. Thanks to let me be a part of it.
Well my fav color combo? I love pink/raspberry, turquoise and a warm deep yellow, like sunflowers. This are the bright ones. The dark ones are blackberry/a blue wine-red, teal and honey. But I never tryed them in paintings. That gives me the idea for my first aquarelle drawing with my new ordered colors. Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
Love the paintings. Love old fashioned stuff. So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your painting session.
Thanks!
This must have taken a lot of time, i can barely sit for 13 minutes without getting distracted and you actually inspired me to at least sit and paint for 30 minutes, i know it's not a lot but it's much more improved. Thank you so much for being a model and inspiring many. I really love you, i think we all do.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for another video focussing on pushing yourself to do what you want to and overcoming all the mental and emotional hurdles along the way...great job 👏
Love this!✨
Also love the way you narrate/ voiceover, we can hear you smile that's talent. 😬🌼
🥺🥺🥺 thank you
I love your artistic process.. pleasant ambience.. your studio little mate.. means everything.
Thank you! Yes she does
I love that you shined a light on this topic. I feel like it’s such a common thing that a lot of artist deal with. Especially when it comes to having art block & have not painted for awhile. Also, I know you mention your cameras & editing programs…but could maybe talk about the tools you use when creating your videos? (Like tripods, the tools that hold your phone as you record, etc.)
Sure thank you so much
@@artofjesskarp of course, no problem at all. Thank you!
This video it's really inspiring ✨ When I feel unmotivated I just need to see your videos and the motivation comes back to me. Thank you, Jess 😊
I love the thumbnail
Thank you!
10/10love all ur videos…The blue is my fav…great job Jess as always
Thanks !!
WHAT A COINCIDENCE I LOVE CAR MODELS TOO, YOUR PAINTINGS ARE GREAT, LOVE THEM. I WILL TRY SOME OUT TOO. CHEERS, MARIA XXXX
thanks
Thanks for the much needed inspiration and push.
You have a great mindset. Very nice video. And I hope your friend got her painting finished and continued onto the next
Thank you!!
Hi Jess! I just love your video style 💕 It's creative, fun, and inspirational. I love the classic car trio! Classic cars are so beautiful and they have so many attributes for an artist to get excited about. ♥️💛💙
THank you!!
Watching your videos always puts me in the drawing mood. 💕
Yellow is also my fav car colour...I don't know why. I've thought that ever since I was a child.
Awesome~
dragons and dogs make me happy and making art so i combine the 3 😀 i've never been a car person, but those older cars are def things of beauty
I can relate to your friend. Painting gets hard because it's always hard for me to break my procrastination, get my materials ready and start. But once I'm in my zone and no one disturbs me, I'm thriving..... I currently live with my family and tbh it gets hard to paint but after everyone sleeps, I feel like I am the king and no one can stop me. I did love your friend talking. Can we have it more? Love you Jess, also a big hug to alexus ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That’s a beautiful feeling thanks so much for watching!
It's the most beautiful video I've seen in my life about art
I really like how your filmmaking and storytelling is evolving! These videos are pieces of art of themselves and it's amazing to watch. And experience the journey with you.
I was on UA-cam to search "how to get better at ...." But you reminded me that the answer is to just do it. Start. Use the supply. Practice. Make mistakes. Have fun. Get in the zone. Relax. ❤️
You inspire me so much. Thank you for being so lovely
Thanks for watching!
My first car was a bright yellow 2 seater. I don't know what possessed my dad to let me have it. I am in my 50s and still remember having so much fun in that car with up to 5 people. Yellow is one of my most favorite colors, second only to brown.
Awesome!! Thanks so much for watching :)
Jess, your storytelling is the thing I love about your channel…the art is always fantastic, you arrived on YT practically fully formed in that respect, but your videos have been on a journey and I love that. ❤
Thank you so much
I love all three!! But you painted my dream car the 63 Corvette 😍😍😍. You made them so dreamy that it’s hard to pick a favorite. Once again, thank you for taking us on this journey of creating art and enjoying it. 🤗♥️😍😍😍
Thank you!!
I love all your videos and am so grateful for the inspiration and calm that you share with us all! 🎨
Thank you!
omg, i’ve had that exact same red car for like 10+ years. i got it as a gift when i was a kid and ever since then its been in clear sight waiting for that strike of inspiration 😭
also, on a side note. to avoid the sketch being visible i like to put a light layer of dry brushed white paint (without putting a protective layer for the pencil, so yes, it smudges a little) the light layer kinda acts as a eraser make the lines less visible and takes care of all the smudging when it dries :)))
Awesome!! Thanks for watching
I love these types of videos Jess! Maybe next time do the water outside you're studio. That would be fun to paint. I also love when you have you're furry friend with you!
Thank you so much - I have done a video of the view :) another art studio video :) thanks for watching
Beautiful work Ms. Karp, and thank you for the encouragement. Just what I needed right now. Cheers.
Hullo Jess! Wonderful auto's! I loved painting cars, but burned out when several commissions went bad and not getting paid can sour a subject quite fast! I never thought to use oils, I use watercolors and on occasion gouache! I am still discovering water soluble oil paints and the key to those is never using water to mix your paints! Use a medium to mix or thicken or thin your paints. Use soap and water for cleaning up! your paints do not get sticky or have color shifts like acrylics. I am rather new to your channel so I hope I am not rehashing a subject you have spoken on before. Please take care and have yourself a lovely day!
Thanks!!
Your each video adds something to my journey as an artist...thank you Jess
I’m glad. Thank you
Btw jess the yellowww car is itttt
Thanks
Very helpful in getting motivated…Since COVID it is easy to find oneself in a slump. THANK YOU JESS!
Thanks!
You have inspired me to paint today, thankyou.
Thanks for watching Im so glad you feel inspired
Thank you Jess 😌
Thanks for watching !
This was SO much fun Jess!!! Thank you 😊
Thanks Debbie
Love this! Great for understanding colour theory. Also love the paintings 😍
THanks!!
What a privileged place to paint at. I would live and work there and not leave! Such a view!!! Beautiful. That must be very inspiring. 😁👍
Thank you
I m returning back home after my job and start mine paintings too!! Thank you for inspiring me pushing me towards my dreams!! 💓
Amazing! Thanks!
This video made me so emotional. Over coming the doubt in me is so difficult. Your paintings are beautiful and your artistic ability is incredible ❤
Thanks so much scarlet I’m so glad this video touched and resonated with you
56/57 Chevy Bel Airs are my absolute favourite!! ❤❤❤
THanks! :D Love them too
Jess I love how you paintings of the cars turned out. This is right up my alley! I love customizing toy cars! And I also love drawing and painting them. Fantastic video as well.
Amazing! Thanks so much
@@artofjesskarp you're welcome!
This was… BEAUTIFUL 🤩 the atmosphere (the clouds by your studio🤌🏼)and inspiration and the paintings came out awesome! I love vintage cars so it was extra awesome 😎 ❤💛💙
Thank you
WOW It’s perfectly interesting and amazing!!
Especially, this 3 paintings are all colorful and great.
So I always think attractive that your beautiful artworks. Thank you for sharing Jess! ✨💕😍
Thank you!!
WOW awesome!! This reminded me of Chip Foose. He would paint awesome cars before building them. Good job 👏🏻
Thank you!!
This got me inspired to buy toy cars and paint them. Thanks Jess for the new sketchbook idea.
Thanks for watching
This is wonderful.
To me the hardest part in doing art is finding time especially when you have family and just little time to sit down and pursue your passion.. Also if you don't have a setup like an own space and some sort of gear (for making videos) it's really hard..
I understand. Thank you for watching
On the 4th of August I decided I wanted to get back into sketching after a very long break.(4+ years, it might be as much as 8 years. I don't think I've done anything arty since we moved here) So I started doing a sketch per day and then I bought watercolors and added that into my daily practice. There has been the odd day where I've thought about just giving it a miss but I've managed to keep going. The last couple of days I've painted some little watercolor scenes as Christmas presents for family. Two per day, which is huge for me. It's now got to the point that as soon as I pick up my mechanical pencil and extend that lead, I'm in sketching mode. Funnily, even though the last couple of weeks I've found myself getting annoyed with the pencil and I've started straight in with a pen, I still need that thing of picking up the pencil and getting out the lead to click into art mode 🤷♀ Rituals I guess.
Wow great work you are always so inspiring
Thank you!!
Awesome again as always.
One of the last shots in your video of the three cars sitting in the easel and kinda hanging off the edge I thought would be another good painting idea.
It made me think how a beautiful design came first from someone’s mind.
Incorporating the easel with the cars would show not only their work of art but the work of an artist.
Amazing!! Thank you so much
Lately with art shows, commissions, UA-cam videos. I have painted a lot but hit that overwhelm of set up but also being in the right headspace. I’ve accepted I’m just tired and taken 4 days off with the weekend planned to just get this digital commission off to a good start (the sketch is begun but decided to go fully digitally and thankfully client agreed it) which will allow for more changes if needed. Then film the sketchbook tour Monday for Tuesday seeing as that doesn’t need new art created. Usually though painting and art doesn’t feel like a chore and therefore get a lot done out of passion. It’s just this time of year is cold and busy. I have so many canvas sketches on and lined up but haven’t begun to paint yet . Loved that section with the friend and having a physical oil painting of their dog to look back over . Right back to the video to see how your sketches come along 😅😊
Awesome! thanks for watching!!
@@artofjesskarp loved the sketches; must be so nerve racking to paint over them. The yellow car was my favourite out of those :) 😁 something a bit different subject matter to what you’ve shared before.
Yep, this definitely made me want to paint right now. Thank you jess
Thanks!!
Beautiful beautiful paintings and awesome Video, Jess! ❤️💛💙
Thanks!!
They say a painting is not done until it is looked at by another person. You've shared them here (and we've loved it), so yeah, those little paintings ARE done. 😄
Thank you!
The view from your workspace...it's AMAZING!!!
Thanks
drawing or painting one car is intimidating enough but you went ahead and painted three? whoa. and each turned out quite good! can't really pick a fav lol. anyway, i painted some flowers recently with gouache and it was really fun. definitely need to be doing more of it.
Thanks so much for watching !
Amazing jess 😍❤️loved it🎨🥺
Thanks! So glad you liked it
Your friend was talking and I found myself agreeing with her the entire time! I find it such a struggle to start painting, and I always say I want to paint more, but then I just don't! And it's silly really because when I do paint, I get lost in the process and end up so so happy with what I create! I'm so proud of the paintings I have done, and definitely want to do more!
On a different note, how do you varnish you oil paintings? I've just started using oils and want to protect my paintings but don't know exactly what to use?
Thank you for the amazing video Jess!! As always, you are an inspiration!!! ❤
Thank you so so much!
Well done!! I loved the video. I really like cars old or new. You are such an inspiration to me! Thank you Jess🙂
Thank you so much

Love your videos!!!
Thanks!!!
hi Jess! I love the metal cart with the few drawers on wheels you have your paint pallet and supplies on. Where is it from? I'm setting up my first real art space in a new room soon, and I'm SO excited to get back to painting and creating after not doing it as much (I graduated from art school 12 years ago!) Thanks for inspiring me to pick it back up again :)
Awesome. It’s from Michaels. Thanks for watching! So glad I was able to inspire
@@artofjesskarp thank you so much for the quick response!! ❤️
What cool subjects for paintings, and I loved how you put each car on its own panel!
