Honestly for some reason or actually i know the reason is you being so spiritually positive and hardworking, you always leave me happier , inspired and curious. Thank you
Such a beautiful episode, the themes of going with the flow and your heart, letting nature guide you to find something and be present. I think the way you capture nature with your sketchbook paintings is so cool, you bring out the vibrance and the essence of the place in a way that amplifies the feeling you have, rather than just the scenery. Its really beautiful. Thanks for sharing your art, your vision, and your wisdom 🙏
Lovely to see the same subject drawn using the same medium through the hands and eyes of two artists. Both ink drawings are fabulous. It's a great illustration of why you should never try to emulate someone else's style. Only your hands and your brain will make marks in a particular way and that is what makes your work special.
I can’t believe how quickly you painted that gouache piece!? 😮 drawing and painting outside are so relaxing, it’s lovely to see you’re encouraging more people to do so ❤
No, but I love the fact that you and Zac have such similar energies. You both capture your art in a different way yet it's both so beautiful and inspirational.
That bird at the end of the video would have been fun to paint. The background and the motion the bird did was just perfect! Thank you for sharing this with us, Jess. It gave me such a calming vibe this morning ☺️🙏☀️🌅
That looks like Morikami. I used to go for Obon every year when I still lived in Miami. I love the bonsai garden and random stone lanterns scattered throughout the property. I highly recommend going to their Obon festival, it’s crowded but a fantastic event where they float the lanterns for those who have passed on the lake at the end of the night.
Hullo Jess, A wonderful painting and such a lovely use of gouache! I often think people do not use the transparency of this unique medium. Your painting techniques are so wonderful and quite beautiful too! I have that love/hate relationship with this medium I know it is from when I worked in a studio that made sure ALL of the gouache paintings were destroyed after the job was completed. The photo's were made and boom! into the circular file they went! That's a fancy was to say trash can! Thanks for sharing this time with your friend with us. Have a lovely day!
Good morning, Jess and thank you for the sketch book date with you and your friend. He's a really good artist just like you and enjoy the scenery in the video as well. Have a wonderful day and happy drawing.
Het fell in love with square sketchbooks.. it just made sense to my brain. And even now I find it perfect to translate drawings made within a square or the double square rectangle to a canvas of any proportion. This was again a lovely video and it makes me want to go out and draw..
When i saw your video poop up yesterday I couldn’t wait to watch. I always look forward to your videos. I think it’s safe to say you’re my favorite channel on UA-cam. Thank you for such terrific content. And the others are right, Zack should start his own channel!
I love your videos so much. I don't paint very much at all. I'm a mother with 2 daughters, 7 and 9, and they watch you occasionally. You're a great role model for all of us. You are very wise and articulate. I love watching you layers of art come together...and what I mean is your videography skills add another dimension to you painting and sketching. I appreciate you so much! Thank you for being you!
Love both of your sketches. It's great that you had company with you. He is an amazing artist also. It's amazing how fast you completed your wonderful painting. Thanks for filming it for us💕
Hi Jess! Such a wonderful sketchbook date with you, Zac and Mother Nature! Thank you once again for your positivity and inspiration. I especially loved the colours you saw and painted in your gouache piece and would love for you to do a video on how you see colour! Just amazing 🤩 x
Love these drawings!! I am so amazed at how very talented you are with the drawings. That includes your friend, too! You both match well! I am looking forward to your next sketchbook date!
As someone who's been living in Japan for a while and who just moved to a city with an amazing garden, this video feels special to me, even more since you're the one who inspired me to go back to art after 25 years. I actually bought a yearly pass last week so I can visit the garden whenever I want😆, especially when it's not crowded (they open at sunrise), and I can't wait to follow your advice once more ☺
Thank you Jess for this beautiful video! 😊 I always like how you don’t limit yourself to a certain style or medium (oil, acrylic, watercolour), and just focus on creating!
Im such a fan! I recently started my own artist Vlog on here. In my own style of painting, I create and Vlog the process. Thank you for all the videos. 😁
Seriously, Jess. We should have you listed as one of the Wonders of the World. Your dates are better than what I’d have idealized as perfect. Your skills are more than impressive, but how you talk to everyone and your eyes! Boy! They are like a child’s eyes with giddiness. You’re not acting this, and we are so grateful coz for a few minutes every week will live through those eyes that see such beauty! Oh Zach has skills too😊
Boy, you are the most talented artist I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching on youtube EVER! You’re so incredibly talented, and have a great personality! Your friend is very talented also. Btw, I love your channel except I wish you uploaded more frequently
Thank you for showing your love for art and travel. A good process for a soul desire to discover what other artists doing in their travelling. It's lovely to witness incredible subjects you guys spot. Jess, how do you select your visions into your preferred subject you love attract emotionally and in thoughts. ❤❤
Jess, you are definitely rocking 2023 with these amazing art dates! Perfect venue to be in sync with nature, both that's outside and that is your own, inside 😊 Your 30 min landscape painting was inspiring! But what made you think of painting the sky yellow when in the video it clearly looked gray-blue? Just curious 🧐😅 Anyway well done, both Zac and you...looking forward to more episodes of paint dates with you 😊 best wishes!❤
How beautiful! You both have such admirable skills... whew! I recently went to Naples Botanical Gardens (SW Florida) which had Frida Kahlo inspired gardens and sculptures. I don't have the confidence or skill level (yet) to 'art' in public but I took loads of pics which continue to inspire my art while at home 😊
Your Sketchbook dates are my favorites, and this one was just beautiful. The garden had so many points of inspiration! I loved seeing your friend’s sketches as well, and watching you paint was incredible.
Beautiful sketches and painting as usual....... You are an amazing story teller..... Should try your hand in direction too...... ❤ur sketchbook dates..... Truly inspirational. 😊
Jess Karp, it's so incredibly great to see your videos, you're a very good artist! you inspire and spread a positive vibe. after starting to follow you, I have taken up drawing again, and bought various sketch books. thank you for sharing your passion
6:33 the edge of the micron; how I use it, fine liner such versatile tool, can get away with just the one :) 0.8 is more my go to but the edge still light and thin lines.
that was really amazing , loved it the sketch and the little painting ... the sketch of ur friend was really good i hoping for the 2 second one of his sketch .. still everything falls at its placed after watching ur videos of live painting and sketching i tried this and it was amazing drawing and painting live is so much fun... thank you so much for giving me this much courage and inspiring me... lots of love have a great week.
I see you’ve discovered one of my favorite places. I love Morikami Garden. Another nearby place that makes an interesting nature walk is Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Hundreds of birds roost there, some of them in trees right beside the boardwalk.
wonderful video again! I love the new choices of colour in the painting, Im waiting for more nicer and warmer weather in my country, which is the uk, so i can go outside to sketch or paint! xxx
Oh, it's just delightful! This episode is so wonderful! (I love all of them, but this one... I just smiled during all the video) Not only your paintings and drawings and even sketches are perfect pieces of art, but also your inspiring heartfull videos are pieces of art themselves 😍 Thank you, Jess for making this for us ❤
It’s a stunning landscape and I love your technique Jess. You both did lovely sketches of the statue. I’m subscribing so I won’t miss any videos🌲🙏❤️🦆🐕🐇🦢🦉🐈🕊️🦊🐋🌲🐀🦭🐟🐓🦄🌺🐈⬛🐻
Thank you I needed this video and reminder to make time for nature, I've been missing it sooo much...time to head there🙏 Both yours and Zac's art pieces are amazing, can I ask if you recommend art school for those of us starting art later in life? Thank you, love your videos from Australia 🙏
Well I've always had a problem with generating ideas like if I read a prompt for example I just take a while thinking is it normal I mean I just feel you're gifted to get ideas easily that come out excellently perfect and meaningful
Hi Jess I’m so inspired after I watch your videos so much so I booked onto two art courses which I can’t wait to start I absolutely love your art btw too well wishes from Northern Ireland ✌️👩🎨
1. I love this series. I've actually made a playlist where I sketch from the videos on youtube of different places around the world on pause which is a good and fun exercise. 2. Jess I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to render the color opal? I know you made this beautiful girl for your birthday during Inktober a few years aga and I would really like to do something similar, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
Such a pleasant and heartwhelming vedio. Actually jess I was very excited to see the vedio and I hope I am early today Thanks for a awesome vedio again 🥰🥰💕💕
Beautiful place and work. Curious, how long did the first sketch take you guys? I would like to go out more, plein air, but I feel like if I hurry, I won’t be happy with my work. Does it just take practice to get faster?
Hi Jess😁I'm all over the place. I love EVERYTHING art. I'm an art groupie. I just experienced my first " urban sketching" workshop. I froze and couldn't follow the instructions. I should say I'm absolutely NOT an artist. My instructor gave some ways to find perspective , and did a quick sketch demo and said now you have seven minutes for a quick sketch. I didn't know what to do, I froze🤣🤣🤣. However, I had a great time in the end and I can't wait to go out again. and I think I have more confidence to go out on my own. I need people, a community. Please give some advice in your next UA-cam video. Thanks
I loved this! Nature is so beautiful and this video is so serene and makes me want to learn to draw! I hope I will be able to draw like you one day! May I ask what ink you were using in your fountain pen? Its lovely!

Garden is the word in this video

Its quite interesting the way Jess sketches with ink, like she mostly sees the ambient occlusion, creates a lovely depth, great job!
