Grew up as a fan in the Robinsdale area in the 60's and 70's. Managed some of the joints they hung out in the 80's and 90's. The boys got to know me well enough that they dropped their kaybabe guard and would share stories. It became apparent who were the druggies, who were the instigators, and who were the leaders. Unfortunately after a few drinks many of them would get rowdy and start to disrupt business by testing each other in small ways. All it took was a quick side glance by Larry and things would settle down in a hurry. Thank God I had him as an ally. As a side note, one cannot overstate how ungodly huge that man was.
No one ever messed around with this man. Not in the restaurants, not in the locker room, Not in the ring. Not Billy Robinson, Not Meng, Not Nord or any other of the young Robinsdale set, no one
@@donjulio4025 Greetings my friend, Of course I have no way of "knowing this" for certain. A little about myself. I grew up a major wrestling fan in the Robinsdale Minneapolis area in the 60's and 70's. I saw these guys wrestling and on the streets. Into the 80's and 90's I worked at, and managed some of the places these guys hung out. They got to know me well enough to share some inside stories with me and let their kayfabe guard down. They would often get out of line and test each other in small ways. They would stir up trouble in the place. I saw who were the druggies, who were the instigators, and who was respected well enough to keep law and order and enforce professional decorum enough so that the instigators would settle down. The leaders did not want the whole wrestling outfit to be banned from a bar. If trouble broke out, all it would take is a side look from Larry for things to settle down in a hurry. By the way, Larry was a monster of a man, ungodly huge. I am thankful for the times he helped me.
A friend of mine and a buddy was drinking in a bar on Hwy 10 in Minnesota years ago and Larry walked in and sat down for a drink, probably going home after a match and the buddy starts on Larry from across the bar about how Larry did something bad the Crusher and was upset, so Larry just kept taking this guys crap and then finally said "If you don't be quiet, I'm going roll you into a bowling ball and roll you down Hwy 10" 🎳 😂
Larry passed away a little over 6 years ago. I never watched him in action but I saw his partner, Harley Race, in action countless times, both as the 7-time NWA World Heavyweight champion and as "The King" in the WWF. That was decades ago and I stopped watching wrestling ever since.
You do realize these guys came from legitimate backgrounds right? Harley was trained by the Zbyszko brothers. Do you know who Danny Hodge is? Karl Gotch? Verne Gagne? Kurt Angle? Beock Lesner? Lou Thesz? None of those are guys you'd have any chance against in a fight.

Both Larry & Harley were among the toughest.

Meng???? You cannot be serious. Should have left that name out of your comment, may have been more credible. Sorry. Ask his peers
ABSOLUTEY NO disrespct to Mr Race... I love him. He was The Baddest Man On The Planet (way beforer Mr Tyson ) But #2 sorry
@@Mog181818 I am very serious. meng worked with Larry in the AWA, and he was very respectful of his mentors in the business.
