As a little kid - Ox Baker , Abdullah The Butcher, and The ( Original) Sheik - were Legit Scary to me ! To me they were Monsters to be Feared ! Great Times !
Man do I remember Florida belongs to Ox Baker! Twelve year old me watching Ox on channel 44. A couple of times a year my father, grandfather, cousins and I would go to the armory in Tampa for the live matches. Thanks for the memory's . RIP Ox.
We were in high school and used to go to the Sportatorium to watch the TV matches being taped by Ch. 44. Lisa Z was my friend's sister and director of the show. Solie (not his real name) would do the show, then go to Malio's for dinner and drinks. Mostly drinks. He was very popular with the single cougars who frequented Malio's.
@PassivePortfolios I remember going to the Fort Hesterly Armory in Tampa to watch Championship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie and Dusty and Flair and The Russians and all the good names that came through there it was a great time to be a kid
I saw OX BAKER and a lot of wrestlers in Dothan Alabama. Most of them got their start there at the HOUSTON COUNTY FARM CENTER. Was great on a Friday nite then the matches were moved to Saturday nite.
Can you describe it for me? What was the building prior to it being used for wrestling? How many did it seat? Was it one tier of stands all the way around etc etc?
It was the very best, especially with the great Gordon Solie announcing 👏 Been watching almost 50 years. Nothing will ever touch NWA from FL. In my eyes 😅
When i first started watching wrestling it was very early 1975, IWA and Ox Baker was one of the superstars on the show, he scared the sht out of me lolol Than later loved him in FL. Which to me, in the 70's was the very best wrestling you had 😊 RIP Ox Baker and to one of my all time favorites, Superstar Billy Graham.
When people are talking about the lack of believability in modern wrestling, odd paring and big guys struggling to put down dwarfs, remind them that the lard ball Rhodes had a streak over someone who looked like Ox Baker.
I had a "lard ball" uncle who was a trucker. He could vand did beat the crap out of guys who looked like Ox at truck stops and roadsides honkey tonks from Indiana to New Orleans. Dusty being a tough guy was not a stretch of the imagination.
Graham, unfortunately for him, was one of the worst steroid abusers in wrestling history. He knew the risks and bad side effect but decided to take massive doses of steroids anyway for exented periods of time. Very sad, but not surprising.
Kevin Vaughn Eric stated. That ever wrestler in the locker room in world?Class championship could beat the hell out of Baker and a real fight. He said OX couldn't find his way out of a wet paper sack
Ox knocked Kevin out in a WCCW match with one punch when Kevin accidentally low-blowed him, and then knocked out Kerry when he rushed the ring. That's why Fritz fired Ox that day. Kevin is full of crap.
RIP to the late-great Ox Baker🔥

The Superstar Billy Graham changed wrestling and entertainment forever
He was awesome. He will always be the GOAT in my book.

Ox’s eye brows are on a whole nother level.
I always thought he just glued a couple of caterpillars to his forehead. 🤷🏼♂️
There's no such word as nother.
His eyebrows are on another level.
True Mr solie. The dean of wrestling. ..we love him😢😊
Kevin Sullivan even with his best marker could never imitate the glorious eyebrows of the OX

I grew up going to the Eddie Graham sports complex every Sunday Night. I loved Fla championship wrestling
Can you describe it for me? What was the building prior to it being used for wrestling? How many did it seat? Was it one tier of stands all the way around etc etc?
Wooden benches that went all the way around
Before Eddie Graham sports complex I don't know. Championship matches every Sunday. It was great
It was the very best, especially with the great Gordon Solie announcing 👏

I love his stories.
Ox was a great old school bad guy. Gravely voiced to the fans
Ox Baker looked like a heel's heel.
Anybody remember Ox when he was on The Price Is Right? (Douglas Baker)
I remember and was hoping he'd try to set a record for how many times the wheel would spin around but he spun it easy.
He was awesome in Escape From New York.
I remember several other pronounced suplex that way.Verne Gagne was one of them.
Paint him green and you have Ming the Merciless!
This guy looks like he should be in streetfighter video game
Didn't know ming from flash Gordon became a wrestler😊
Ox Baker was legit scary.....
He never changed his look lol
Gordon was the Greatest!
Graham's problems after the title run in New York were addiction, age and his body wearing out.
Those eye brows have got to be annoying when they drop down and blur his vision. I have that problem if I forget to trim them.
How tf does someone’s eyebrows grow like that 😂

@@testodude Yeah that's just sour grapes from Kevin.
