I have that ski. It's a beast. The biggest issue is the flush hose can be kinked from the factory. Take out the rear exhaust and reroute it from under the muffler to smooth it out. The fittings are made for the FX, VX mounts the flush way forward from where it should be. The drive control can be a bit buggy, even when the screen says what mode you selected it will NOT be in that mode. Verify lower settings if you hand it off to the kids or less skilled riders. I have had to shut off the engine, let it power down and then restart to get the drive to act right. The fuel gauge also suffers from issues. Shows empty and could only put 11 gallons in from a published tank capacity of 18 gallons. Will have to do a drain down and verify. Some posts say ~16. 5 gallons usable....Still crazy fast and fun to be had.
Honestly it’s the best ski for the price. Biggest displacement motor in a PwC right now. Have supercharger speeds without the extra maintenance. Helps they look dang good too
@@AVEN447 it’s stuck in slow mode it sounds like. I did notice to put it into different modes was slightly different than I had in this vid.. like to put it into slow you don’t hit ok twice… it’s weird
@@jenozanetti6664 I’ve had a Kawasaki Ultra 300x supercharged and this ski feels no different in terms of power and speed. If you never had the 1.9 or experienced it, you to so you can understand what a powerful motor feels like without the need of a supercharger. There’s no replacement for displacement.
It’s basically like putting a Honda motor in a ski. Trust me you won’t need or even think about needing a supercharger once you squeeze the trigger on this ski. And btw the fuel economy on that 300x was trash compared to this one.
What you're describing in your video is not entirely accurate. Any time you have the "Drive Control Mode" enabled, that little 'cruise control' icon color changes to YELLOW and despite the fact that it says "HIGH" for speed and "NORMAL" for acceleration, you're still limiting the engine's output. You want this feature disabled entirely (icon back to white color) in order to get to true max speed. And this is what you're doing by 'double clicking' on "speed/acceleration' button - cancelling the Drive Control Mode feature. It's a little confusing, particularly the fact that in the manual (pages 39 and 40) and on screen they call it "High Speed" setting.
@@pinecone76 thanks! Yea it definitely is confusing… cause why would “High” for speed and “normal” acceleration be on the screen if that’s not what you are getting.. the average person would be confused as heck.
@@PhelpsLife i'm sure glad my 2015 fx ho cruiser does not have all this fancy crap icons and crap ?!..lol. i get on it, hit the start button..and take off !. its just me, i don't use the lower power feature at all. as for the engine ?, that 1.9L engine is no better than the 1.8L other than maybe being a tad better on the hole shot ?. you will learn really fast that 1.9L engine sucks more gas than the 1.8L engine does..and both gives you the same top speed. last but not least, that 1.9L engine is made from green materials ...really ??..lol.
@@alanshaw4655I’ve never had the 1.8 so I can’t compare, however the fuel economy on this ski isn’t suffering by any means. I just finished a 2 hr cruise sesh on the lake and I’m a square below half a tank. It stays in high speed mode as well, so no need to change it every time you start the ski. The main thing about this ski is that it’s in the middle price range but offers performance of ski that’s $20k plus. This one was 14.2k plus TT&L. Biggest displacement motor in a ski you can find right now. Extremely happy with it, especially after upgrading to aftermarket speakers. Check out my other vid explaining the upgrade.
@@PhelpsLife the 1.8L is 180 hp, your 1.9L i think is what ..200 hp ?..not much difference. both will top out around 60'ish mph. watched a few video's of your ski, most say it drinks fuel. i also noticed they don't even give you a drink holder on the dash ?..kinda lame..lol. OTD my 2015 fx ho cruiser was just a tad over 15k. then dropped another 1200 or so for a triton trailer. as for the sound system ?. don't need one..i'm out there to ride..not listen to music, one more thing to run the battery down. i will say..the white looks good on that model.
@@alanshaw4655 this ski tops out at 67mph and gets there pretty fast. Instead of the drink holder they give you two RAM mounts up front so you can mount whatever you want to the dash. I just got a RAM mount cup holder in and it’s been great. I gotta have my music and now that it’s upgraded, it’s been incredible. I do understand just wanting the zen of the lake with no extra sound, I turn mine off here n there to enjoy that too, so it’s nice to have the option. Lastly, thanks I agree about the color scheme. Looks like a new deck of cards In person and goes well with my white and black Jeep. I had to go a few hours away to Ft. Worth to pick this one up. As for the reviews on the gas I’m really suprised, cause I use regular unleaded (per the manual) and it does just as well as my 2020 Seadoo GTI 170 did.

yamaha has an update firm ware for free to fix the fuel gauge issue.
Looking at the blue color scheme, not sure to buy one now or wait until next year.

Have you already adjusted the speed like I mentioned in the vid? Has it ever gone above that?

Still the same, I’m gonna take it to the dealer & see, I guess one of the spark plugs not working or one of the coils.

I have owned a 1.8 sho and 2 fxsvho’s. I will never buy a non supercharged ski!!!! Fxsvho is the only way to go!!!
