    Im a newbie in the world of Metal Detecting and just got myself a simplex + WiFi, out for the first time tomorrow, seems like I made the right choice, have watched quite a few different review vids on detectors and the simplex seems to be a fantastic bit of kit for the price beating nearly all of the more expensive brands and you can use it 3mtrs under water, what more could you ask for

    For a £300 machine its excellent, and it was turn on set up and go, never had to alter any settings unlike both the Deus and the Nox which Sid spent most time with. Plus you can also alter the frequency on the simplex which blows that argument about doing that with Deus. I use a Nox and I am impressed with the Simplex. I don't marry a machine and try to justify what I have spent I don't care what price it is as long as its good in Iron, sensitive and Deep. The Simplex looks like it does all them plus its waterproof.

    I compared my multi cruiser equinox and Deus , was amazed at the depth of the cruiser until I Remove the target from the hole and with the cruiser I still had a strong signal only to discover when you set them up for maximum depth , they will read the hole with no target after it is filled in . To avoid this you need to make sure you run a positive ground balance and don't overdo it on the sensitivity setting . all 3 are good machines but if I could only have one the Deus would work best for me , not because it's any better , but is far more user-friendly when you are old and weak ..

    Got my Simplex today, great test lads but most of the signals you got with the Simplex were signals you would never dig anyway, knock the iron grunt off and go over the targets again, they will disappear, the Simplex makes similar sounds everywhere, spent a couple of hours on my test bed today, The Simplex is very good for £295.00 ,but that’s what it is a £295.00 detector, do you think Nokta would bring a detector out that was better than all their more expensive models for a fraction of the price, they would put themselves out of business! and where would they go next?
    The Equinox and Deus are far superior detectors , has you would expect, the Deus on the test just does what it always does on deep targets and gives you a high reading, meaning the discrim is dire under 8” and you could be digging anything, the Equinox would have easily have most of the targets if used on Field 2 or Park 2, the Simplex when run over my iron tests was not great, it got about 6 out of 10 the Deus and Equinox gets all of the targets , the Simplex when pushed just gives false signals everywhere, you can’t tell one from another but I suppose that would come with practice, it’s difficult on a test bed you know what the targets are and where they are, most of the signals in the test you would never dig.
    So before you all go out and buy a new Simplex then remember this is just a very good £295.00 detector similar to a Garrett 400i / Fisher F44 e.t.c , I don’t think Nokta ever claimed it was going to be anything else, excellent value for money.
    I was going to go out with it this Sunday, I nearly got caught out in all the hype, but I won’t bother.
    Happy Hunting

    Its all about how a dig-gable signal is defined on the test the Deus makes a noise whilst going over a target, this is 'not a signal we would dig we are told, i would not dig it either, but it could be something (and in this case was) all the detector is telling us is that there is a piece of metal down there but the detector is unsure what it is, so it gives a mixed signal, deus owners just go back and dig some of the signals you have rejected you will be surprised what you are leaving in the ground, all detectors do this, that is what is happening in the video test the Simplex is telling you there is a piece of metal down there but it does not know whether it is ferrous or non ferrous, it is not a clear signal you are hearing but a non descriptive grunt, this you will get every 2 yards as you detect.

Also you do not "cancel" the effect of the ground with the option "expert" in ground balance. Not to mention that the correct program with its proper settings was missing. Even so! is an excellent video worth sharing, for further discussion.

    I have a couple of nagging questions. If the Simplex is selling for around $300.00 then the cost of manufacturing must be $100.00 - $150.00? So, where are they skimping to keep the price so low? Is it in the build or the electronics? They have to be cutting corners in the manufacturing process somewhere, in my opinion. Also, can the company survive selling metal detectors for $300.00 each? I have my doubts on that one. Seems like a bad business plan to me to bring out a detector that will compete with your higher end detectors at less than half the price.

      Donnie Bailey my guess is they have a high end machine coming thats gonna blow the top ends out the water!! Why else would they

      My nagging question is, why have the other manufacturers been over charging for so long? Does anyone really think it costs $1,200+ to make a unit? Even factoring in labor ect it seems the profit margin is incredibility high to me.

      Actually I concur with Sid, I never noise cancel unless its unstable then i will manually adjust using the plus and minus buttons. I ALWAYS GB though. I would say that not searching in all metal is something i wouldn't recommend as it seems to amplify Iron falsing and would also like to know what the Iron Bias setting was on the Equinox when the test was done.
      All in all though it does show the Simplex to be a damn fine machine for coins in polythene bags and jam jars :-)

    Not that depth means much in 99% of the places most folks hunt but 2 things I noticed in your nox settings that will increase depth (especially in low mineralized soils) Hunt in all metal. No notch. If there is little to no iron, reduce the iron bias setting. I also lower iron bias in heavy iron patches but jack up the target separation to 7. To me, target separation is king... would LOVE to see these 3 machines tested in heavy iron with small non ferrous targets. The Nox, set up correctly, will find tiny non ferrous targets in TONS of iron. Especially with the small coil, and will still have decent depth.

    Damn the detecting looks fun!!! In Sweden all hell breaks loose if anyone without a 60£ (ish) permission from the “overlords” is found with a detector in hand, even in my own backyard that is! And IF anything older then mid 18:th century comes out of the ground and you turn it in, your 60£ permission is revoked immediately with no refund... they think it’s better to keep history in the ground I guess:( great video btw👌😊! There is a petition that more than 12000 people have signed (aiming at 15k) and will be turned in to our government about this madness asking them to look at the laws of England and Denmark and so on. Jesus I’m sorry about this novel... help us if you can!! Cheers ☀️

    • @spetznaz14
      @spetznaz14 5 років тому +1

      Not really, the deep program has poor disc. I can get the Deus as deep, possibly deeper than the nox when I use the deep prog. but it could only be used in very 'clean' areas and would end up spending hours digging iron/junk. The point is with a simple turn on and go routine the Simplex performs v well, most people don't want to spend their time tweaking machines rather than detecting.

  • @beneathourfeet3815
    @beneathourfeet3815 3 роки тому +3

    these tests are always about depth but never target id, recovery or separation, whilst the simplex is deeper it isnt as good as the deus and nox in the other more important areas, you wil dig far more iron with the simplex but for the money its a great starter machine

    That Simplex wiped the others out. One question, were you running the Nox 800 with the new updates, or the original software? I put update 2 onto mine last weekend, and yesterday went over a small patch I've done a couple of times, it pulled up three coppers, a small buckle, a button,, a glue tube, two bottle caps, a pull-tab, and the usual scrap bits, that it missed previously. I know it is the same patch, as it is between a bench-seat and a canal bank - about 10 feet wide and 50 long.

      also the equinox is a multi frequency machine . So Try setting the machines frequency to see if it goes deeper on curtain targets rather having it set to multi frequency all the time. I Think that it might loose a bit of depths forcing on unnecessary frequencies on curtain targets.
