Thanks for the detector review. I've been undecided with Minelab and seems like every other year they innovate some new technology. They're are a good company, but seem top heavy on the price and I just don't want to buy two detectors even though I hit the beach or the deserts on vacation. The Simplex looks interesting and I found out Nokta also makes a multi frequency (5khz, 14khz, 20khz) detector with the Anfibio series.
I have a Whites V3i, a CTX-3030, and an Equinox 800, and still was tempted into buying a Simplex. At first I wasn’t afraid to get the Equinox wet until I started to see so many breaches and coil ear snaps. The Simplex is a machine I’m not afraid to dunk and I love the vibrate and built in light features. It’s also nice to have at least one dedicated single frequency machine where everything is tuned to that particular frequency. Then there’s the ecosystem Nokta Makro is building. The Simplex works with the wireless headphones which also connects to the pulse Dive which also converts to a diving loop.
Good idea to have both detectors, different technologies have the potential to be better in different scenarios. Plus, having a backup in case something happens to the first is never a bad idea!
I’m leaning towards the 800. Wanting to say. I’ve watch hundreds of you tube vids. Most on metal detecting. Your presentation is the best I’ve seen and info wise fully informative. I really appreciate the effort and time you put in making this vid. Thank you so much. Tom
Hi Tom - Thanks very much for the kind words. Feel free to reach out if I can be of any help. If you are in the US, are a veteran and buy from a dealer you will qualify for the veterans discount. Good luck and happy digging!
I bought the 800 a year ago I love it. I had no issue with any shaft wobble the whole shaft is tight. There was a known issue to mine lab that the first few batches of the equinox series had bad cam locks. They since fixed that problem. However the detector is still nose heavy so however I did purchase complete shaft. I got it from Steve’s detector rods with a counter weight and that solved that problem
Good to know. Thanks BT! Had her out this weekend and so far am good with the Tele-knox shaft BUT I could see how it might be a b it short for those taller than me.
We checked with our local supplier before buying it, he said they had NO failures of cuffs, shafts or waterproofing. What they had was failures of lug nuts at coil. About 7 of them, in hundreds sold. The supplied replacements have not failed. 🙂
I wanted a decent, user friendly machine and the Simplex plus exceeded my expectations. What a way to get started. I may down the road look at other technology more sophisticated. I feel the Simplex plus is a great way to start and build a foundation of how to use a metal detector.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video!! I have a simplex now and have been looking at the nox 800. It’s been so hard to find a quality video! The info you provided was just awesome!
Thanks for insights offered on these two great machines! Have a b-day coming up & am mulling over a 600 vs. a Simplex for my beach machine. Use an AT Pro for relics & coin shooting but the Equinox with multi-frequency could be useful to revisit previously pounded sites. TC & HH! 👍😎🦈🦈
Not sure I’d recommend the Simplex as a saltwater beach machine. Just FYI. Check out some of the Gigmasters videos. Also Arron at South Coast Detecting.
I have both the Simplex and the Equinox 600. I've never had a problem with the shaft wobbling. I like the Simplex because of what you get for the price. It's a great machine, but I don't like the fact that the headphones are proprietary. I can't stand the over-the-head headphones. I also like the multi-frequency on the Nox.. Not a fan of the charging port either. For the price.. Definitely worth it.
Gigmaster found out where his Equinox leaked using dry ice and a tub of water...around the charging port. I bought a cheap open box deal Vanquish 340. It cost 170. I got the basic Equinox abilities for dirt cheap to hunt the woods and old gardens nearby.
And to be fair, the lower-end Minelab Vanquish series also uses multi-frequency technology, the same as the Equinox. I run a Vanquish 440 and ended up returning my Equinox 600 because I just didn't see enough added value for the Equinox for the difference in price. I might change my mind later. Looking for a second machine now, but not a Nox at the moment.
I had to get my 800 adjusting shaft replaced due to the carbon shaft pin wearing out the hole around it. The thing I really love about my 800 is that it’s so quiet!!! I had an ATPro and it was to much sensory input (sound) for me to interpret. It was hard for me to decipher all the sounds. Most people it doesn’t bother but for me it was so much input. ATPro is a good machine and I recommend it, but I like the quietness of the Equinox 800. If you’re getting a beginner machine I always recommend a Simplex+. You can’t get the features in any machine for that cost. I’ve only seen good reviews.
Thanks CG. I've never swung an AT Pro but others have said similar things. Am still learning the Nox...my only gripe...wish it had a wider VDI Scale. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have both. Bought the Simplex 1st and got the Equinox 600 3 months or so later. Both machines are good but I havent put down the nox and grabbed the simplex since I purchased it. I just like the extras and the tones much more. Found some great things with both though.
I waited for the Simplex small coils to come out for my creek hunting. No 5 or 6 inch small round dd coils were released for the Simplex. I bought an Eq800 with 6 inch coil.
I have an old white machine 8 years old . I would really like to up grade . I'm torn between the Equinox or a Deus machine . I really like the ideal of no cables and the updating capability.. Great Video.
Good informative video, I am looking for a back-up to my ctx, had the Equinox & was very disappointed in build quality and also was not waterproof as it leaked, so now looking forward to picking up a Simplex + this week.
Good info I just recently got the simplex. Have a bounty hunter detector but up graded to the simplex. And the simples was the best price for me. Only wish I’d got it with the wireless headphones.
Love the Simplex(see my other videos). Honestly the headphones are nice but the volume is so great you will be fine. Be sure to keep a look out for the upcoming firmware update. They are increasing sensitivity and adding another mode so I am told. Thx for watching and commenting!
You probably wear the wireless headphones using the Simplex about half the time. That was very informative! Considering upgrading from my Bounty Hunter Tracker IV, and looking hard at the economical Simplex. I have to admit that I'm not wild about the sounds the Nokta make, compared to the BH, but I don't like wearing headphones at all. This is a great video, btw.
Interesting impressions on both machines. Had to watch this video after seeing you on Digging Canuck’s livestream the other morning. I got the Equinox in July and have been loving it! Take care:)
I just ordered the Simplex and I am very excited. I also have a 800 but this is going to be a great second machine i think New to the channel keep up the good work
I hope the vibration is more stronger and more sensitive on the new noxes.and still work like the simplex flashing off when not over a target.and on when over a target.
Thanks for an interesting thought process... the question I should have asked on another of your videos is: If you could only keep one, which would it be? and why?
I am new to metal detecting .. so after joining a local metal detecting club facebook page and asking a few questions to get some advise and then doing a little research online.. I now own the Equinox 800. I found your video very informative and appreciated the fact you simplified most of the technical lingo so that less experienced people such as myself can better understand while learning. I agree 100% on your assessment on the shaft and love the look and ease of adjustment of your new aftermarket shaft... but i was wondering on length comparison extended and collapsed ?
Hi John. Thx for the comments. While I do like the new shaft I think for those taller than me (I’m 5’7”) the Tele-Knox shaft could be a bit short. Depends a bit too on how one swings.
I like the vibration mode is a great feature in muddy or murkey water.on the simplex.i hope the vibration mode on the new 700 and 900 are more sensitive than the simplex or the legend.
You did an excellent job going over the 2 detectors. I have the Equinox 600 and The Nokta Makro Simplex+ I like both detectors, the Equinox has an advantage on different types of metal because of the multi freq. Both machine for coin and relic hunting, depth wise are very close match.
You said in the beginning about the price difference between the simplex (entry level machine) and the 600 and 800 equinox machines ( high end machines) with the price difference being almost 3 times the price. Then you go on and say how the equinox is better at this and that. Of course there are more features. It’s like trying to compare a screw driver with an impact driver .
Of course. What’s your point? They are different machines; one more advanced than the other but not everyone is clear on the difference. Is the increased price worth it? For me there was no doubt. Since then I’ve upgraded to an even more expensive machine.
Well I took the plunge. Bought the Nox 800, 6" coil, Anderson shafts and lower shaft, and car charging, the power cell(RNB PWR-NOX Power Pack for Minelab Equinox) and a couple of the coil stabilizers. Also Andy's book. Bought the Detect-ED Red Belly LS 2 Piece Upper and Lower Fiber Shafts also. ¤¿¤
Glad your enjoying the Equinox 800 i sure have liked mine so far....Im thinking of a simplex or a vanquish 540 for my grand daughter and since you own the simplex wondered your thoughts between the simplex or the vanquish.
To be honest, there's no point in comparing both. The equinox is absolutely a superior machine. But for the price of the simplex, you are getting a great machine and loads of features, but in no way we could put both in the same league. Thanks for the video and I just subscribed to your channel 👌👌
Well said! For those that know the two machines - you are completely correct but for the beginner they don't always understand or appreciate what else machines like the Nox offers. I primarily swing the Nox but have to say...Nokta hit it out of the park with the last update on the simplex. She goes deep BUT is very chatty. Thanks for the sub!
@@TheHistoryDigger1 true! I have the quest q40, as well as the nox 800 and the simplex. And for beach hunting I go almost always with the nox, and for hard terrain where you might scratch your gear I take the simplex and the quest q40 and they do just great. By the way the q40 is a way underrated machine for its price, if you get the chance try it out.
Great vid, looking forward to your thoughts on Nox and how the carbon fibre works. You are wearing my hat!!! 😆 Thank you so much for our parcel, a wonderful surprise, and the extras, fantastic. 🥰 Gavin says thank you, too. He was well chuffed. And stickys for Simplex will come in handy, just need to figure out what numbers are, they are never the same 🤨 Looking forward to your next video!! ❤

Great video, am interested in the Simplex as my first detector mainly because of cost but here in Canada the wireless headphone model would still cost about $508 CDN, but they seem to be out-of-stock everywhere, not that if I could get one I could go anywhere in the present lockdown situation.
Thanks for watching and commenting Vance. Are you a member of any Nokta Makro Simplex FB groups? Several of them have dealers that have stock along with some nice discounts. Might still be nice to get it and mess with it in a yard, etc. I hear you though...hang in there and stay safe.
Thanks for your honest review just wanna mention all-metal Non-ferrous reacted same but Muti iQ must help better reacting to find small targets and not foul by iron but I didn't really see that much improvements, again thanks and loves your channel
Enjoyed your video, have a deus, but need a more updated machine for my spare(b3 power max)awaiting money from treasure trove for a ring I found then will go ahead.thanks again.
What is the difference between the simplex and the legend? And is it worth the price difference? I'm getting ready to buy one but am trying to do the most research I can first
The Simplex is a single frequency machine. It performs well and is a great value for the dollar but struggles on mineralized ground snd saltwater beaches. The Legend is a simultaneous, multi frequency machine with far more capabilities and customization capabilities. Nokta recently announced some additional versions of the Simplex BTW. They are not on the market yet but may be worth the weight. If you can afford the difference I’d go with the Legend. If interested let me know as I sell both of these as an affiliate Digstock dealer. Email me if interested at thehistorydigger@gmail.com
I own both!......They both have their strong points!.....Equinox clearly whips it on mineralized ground being (multi-frequency), hands down!......The simplex build quality is better out of the box!....Best value out there for the $$$ especially for all it's features it has!
@@TheHistoryDigger1 If your looking for the deep coins it will find it especially in Field mode, using Iron Bias & Recovery Speed set low if ground conditions allow!
On simplex I've had emi problems around high school bleachers even with the sensitivity turned way down.i had to switch to the nox.problem solved.A legend or a 7 or 900 nox.Would resolve these problems.
Nice video, thank you. I have the Simplex and the Equinox 600. I was not happy with the Simplex until i added the carbon fiber lower shaft and the smaller SB24 coil. Those 2 items made it a much better machine. And i will not be happy with the Equinox until i get an after market shaft. It is ironic that the less expensive Minelab Vanquish comes with a much nicer camlock shaft. The pushpin shaft on the Equinox is no better than what you find on a $99 Bounty Hunter.
@@tonylenczeski4028 some people use the words sparky or chatty for coils that make a lot of noise. That is what i found with the stock coil of the Simplex. I would really have to lower the sensitivity to quiet it down, especially at the beach. The smaller coil is much quieter and i am finding lots of targets. The stock coil on my Equinox 600 makes a lot of noise and i am tempted to try a smaller coil on it.
@@johnmadill8344 Thank you for the reply. Given that you can raise the sensitivity higher with the smaller coil, are you finding the depth is similar to the larger coil?
I smashed out 100s if not many more hours with the simplex. It's good but I had a go an old xterra 305 from minelab in some ways better some not. It wasnt as deep but had good signals in 8 inches. Old tech. But anyone who believes the simplex is better than anything costing north of £600 then they are mistaken. The owner of the 305 hadn't found anything good with it. But I was able to get some good small finds and teach him. Now hes pulling out coins from the 1600s.
How are you finding the Nokta Simplex to Equinox 800 comparison since the Simplex upgrade? I know you cannot really compare a single freq to multi freq machine but it sure looks like Nokta are pushing the boundaries of an entry level machine
Nokta really closed the gap with the upgrade especially in terms of depth. The advanced features though on the Nox are still hard to beat in addition to the multi-freq. Thanks for watching Chris.
Does it seem fair to compare a $900 machine to a $350 machine i have a simplex and a legend which is a multi frequ machine and I can’t compare them not even on build quality. I must say though i love my Simplex, i would like to try the Nox tho.
Your right. It’s not a fair comparison rather the intent was more to help others decide is it worth it to upgrade. The ability to customize frequencies, tone breaks, level of Iron bias, ability to detect on beaches, etc and even build quality is really what folks should consider. The answer depends on the individual. For me it was well worth the money to upgrade to the Nox and even to the Deus ll. Have not had any experience with the Legend but it does seem to be well worth the money.
Think u have to remember the price difference in price between these machines and also to get a decent shaft you’re paying a extra £100 so overall simplex is a superb machine for the price bracket
I don’t disagree Tony. I did this video prior to the last two Simplex software upgrades. It’s a great machine for the money for sure. Thx for watching and commenting.
Just as a example to get a shaft that folds up as small as the simplex I had to pay a additional £125 to have the same with the nox have had numerous reports of the nox failures sure to water ingress due to rain,it will be interesting on how the new makro multifrequency stacks up in the price range and ability compared to the nox and also nokta makro customer services are second to none,I had a issue with the arm cuff screw the plastic stripped off the the thread part a brand new machine just out of the box I had to pay £4,99 for another one which I was disgusted about, that would not have happened with nokta makro, the quality of minelab products have deteriorated since they were bought out in my opinion
Good points. I have not had any issues with water but I enjoy the multi frequency and ability to further customize my programs using iron bias and recovery speed. Just a few of the things the Simplex lacks. It’s also a very heavy machine snd at the time of the video did not offer additional coils. To each his own as they say. These days for my land hunts I primarily use the XP Deus or ORX and the Nox in the water.
I feel you doing better with the Simplex+ for the price its thrilling to use and I really love using mine .It a better purchase and getting more for your money. You can also purchase additional coils for it.
Glad you are enjoying the Simplex. I'll stick with my Nox and ORX. At the time I made this video, Nokta did not offer any additional coils, shafts, etc. Now that those are available it certainly makes the simplex more attractive for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I liked your comparison, but .... I owned an 800 for 2 years. Bought a Simplex for a backup last year. Hunting relics and coins in thick iron, there is no comparison, the Equinox is far superior. So if you are into hunting thick iron covered colonial sights, get the Equinox, you don't wanna miss any deep Reales in iron. BTW, my new backup machine for my Equinox 800 is another Equinox 800 with a 6 inch coil 😁
I do own the equinox 800.simplex is a nice little machine.but the nox.Is far more adjustable specially with the advanced modes.the 800 comes with 8 different recovery speeds and is far more advanced for setting the tones to the way you like them.I have the simplex to.If I had to get rid of one.I would keep the equinox 800 an d would chose the 600 over the simplex.their plenty of programs for the equinox for all detecting modes if you don't know how to set it even in advanced mode.you could adjust the tones in e-1 e-2 e-3 e-4 e-5 you could turn the tones up or down throughout the whole range and it makes detecting in iron infested areas a lot better and most other areas also.so it don't drive you crazy
@@TheHistoryDigger1 nice, running late for work and have to walk jog in the snow to get there 3 miles, can you tell me a few advantages over the nox besides build quality, one guy said it wouldnt be a good machine for a beginner, used to use a whites 20 years ago to find copper, here in northern michigan. Lots of iron in the ground. lots of basalt. Really am bummed out about the build quality of the equinox. My wrist is bad where that thumb bone meets the wrist, ergonomics I gotta kinda pay attention to, and something light, love how the legend and the simplex have the carbon fiber shaft with the better design, and light. lots of float copper here in the copper country. At the price your paying for the equinox its really shitty bout the build quality. wonder about battery liife out on a long hunt.
Awesome video, got yourself another detectorist here in Wisconsin. Menomonee Falls. I also have the Equinox 800 and the simplex plus. Happy huntings and you got yourself a new subscriber
To me that’s a simple answer, “almost”! I got a 15% military discount so that helped. I do think it is a bit overpriced but it is a better, more customizable machine. Also until very recently Nokta did not offer different coils or carbon shafts.
Im wondering if anyone finds that the simplex is a much better at pinpointing than the nox,i get loads of targets on the sidewalls of the hole with the nox but the simplex targets are bang on in the hole ?
Thanks buddy....am hoping some of your excellent instruction starts to pay off w my Nox! :) That is if the ground ever thaws and I can get out and use it a bit more!
@@TheHistoryDigger1 oh you would go with the minelab 600, I see as of today the 800 went up 50.00 what do you make of that, trying to recoup there military discount they gave out
I knew they were taking a price increase on the 800. Assumed the 600 as well. I do thin it’s a bit overpriced given some build issues...others disagree. Still the performance is worth it.
How is the latency on the Simplex headphones? Any issues with that? I know that normal bluetooth headphones on a Minelab machine are a problem. Thanks!
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s a great machine. Be sure to load their newest software updates. Not an expert on the Simplex but feel free to ping me if you have questions. Happy hunting!
Simplex is good on non trashy areas but when it comes to detecting areas that's full of ring pulls, chopped cans, foil etc its as useless as a chocolate fire guard as it struggles to identify decent targets
The 15% veteran discount is offered by Minelabs via their authorized distributors. I bought mine from the Group Dealer on FB "Metal Detecting U.S. Only". His name is Robert Wyatt and his number is 770-560-8814.
Great job with this vid👍🏻 Like your channel. I had my simplex for about a year now. Its a impressive machine. Had it on my first field this summer and its amazing to work with and cant belive how deep it detects. I struggle to get used to other modes than parkmode when on the field. I have, off course, tried fieldmode but somehow I just dont like it. I trust parkmode to much. With field its like starting all over again. What is your thouts about using parkmode on a field? (I did find 2x silvercoins and alot of other coins more modern coins). But there is alot of lead, iron, cobber, aluminium etc. What kind of mode would help me to get the best out the simplex while walking and detecting fields?
It really depends on the field...unless it is very trashy I would stick with field or park 1 w sensitivity turned down a bit. Have you build a test garden yet?
I have been considering a Simplex for a couple months now. I am used to batteries and am concerned about how long a charge might last while in use and just sitting . I like batteries in a detector as I can just change if low , compared to waiting for a charge to complete. Is charging an issue?
Not at all. I have both a Nox and a Simplex. The simplex only takes a few hours to charge...it charges faster than the Nox and I’ve gotten two full days out of one charge. It lasts crazy long!
Charge lasts forever! I started out Thursday on 2 bars, detected all day, turned on Friday 1 bar. Uh oh, as I planned another long session. Went on the one bar til lunch (10 am to 2pm), then plugged in a nearly dead power pack. I didn't know it was nearly dead, oops! That charged Simplex back to 2 bars, where it stayed until I finished up at 530 pm. It's now Saturday, and it's not dead yet. I charge headphones and pointer more than detector. And those aren't often either! :)
The batteries on both machines last longer than a full days detecting. But you can also connect a phone battery charger onto each machine while in use and carry on detecting, in case the machines battery goes flat.
It's all down to how much money you can afford to part with, and whether or not that money can be legitimately justified when off-set against the quality of your detecting sites, and/or your degree of access and interest in beach detecting, and how much commonsense you are gifted with. I know people who rush out to buy air rifles that cost £1,000 plus, when all they have is twenty acres of shooting ground and only crows and the odd squirrel to go after, simply because they HAVE to own a ######## make of gun. If commonsense prevailed, these same people would have been better served buying a good £300 gun. As a footnote, I own neither a Nokta/Makro , or a Minelab, so my opinions are merely observation, and not 'blinkered brand loyalty'. This is a very good video, and exceptionally well presented.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 You are welcome man, i've subbed your channel. Before I leave you in peace, may I ask of you this question please, 'Is Equinox 800 three times better than the Simplex, in relation to the cost differential, in relation to build quality, after-sales back up and performance? Bearing in mind that one could safely purchase three Simplex machines for the price of only one Equinox.
Tim Rogers. I think it very well could be but it takes someone with enough patience and experience to leverage all of the Equinox’s modes, advanced features and frequencies to be worth the price difference. I’m still learning the machine...only have had it for a few months...we’ll see in the long run if it is worth the price difference but I think it’s about both the detectorist and the detector.

Not sure I understand your point David. They are clearly different machines both in terms of price but also in terms of performance. For me the upgrade (after the vet discount) was absolutely worth it but it certainly depends on the user but the Simplex was a great "second machine" for me (my first was a Bounty Hunter).
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and commdenting - yes am still learning it but love the machine. My only gripe is that I wish they target ID scale was broader - up to 99.
I love your video. I own the Equinox. Please continue to promote the the cheap inferior detectors so I can continue to bring home top pocket finds from "hunted out sites".
I’ve heard that mentioned too but not sure it is true given it’s not the control unit. Risk worth taking though and also kept original shaft. Thx though.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 I think the Nox is amazing. I like the Simplex and the amount of features you get for the price is mind boggling. Just heard to beat multi IQ
They are lithium. They hold a charge for a good two days of detecting. I’ve yet to hear of any not taking a charge. Suppose you replace after a few years or buy a new detector for how inexpensive it is.
Simplex is a great machine but it is single frequency and is limited in terms of advanced features (recovery speed, tone breaks, tone pitch) to name a few. Also at the time of this video the Simplex offered no additional coil options and lacked depth prior to the 2.77 update.
My friends and I have about every machine there is I'd not buy a nox because my 540 vanquish beats the glass of the nox in competition with other Machines its just in a cheaper. format and the simplex I have with 2.78 two park modes sweeps up after everything else but by all means you be the judges

Thx for watching and commenting. Glad you’re enjoying the Simplex
Well said! I love the tones on the Nox! Thx for the watch.
I waited for the Simplex small coils to come out for my creek hunting. No 5 or 6 inch small round dd coils were released for the Simplex. I bought an Eq800 with 6 inch coil.
Am really enjoying the smaller, 6" coil!
I have an old white machine 8 years old . I would really like to up grade . I'm torn between the Equinox or a Deus machine . I really like the ideal of no cables and the updating capability.. Great Video.
What did you end up buying John?
Good informative video, I am looking for a back-up to my ctx, had the Equinox & was very disappointed in build quality and also was not waterproof as it leaked, so now looking forward to picking up a Simplex + this week.
Glad it was helpful. I have both the Nox and Simplex. Wish I had the best of both in one machine!

Glad it was helpful!
I prefer no headphones but on a windy wavy day at the beach you really need them to hear over the noise.
I went from the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV to the Simplex....and don't regret it!!!!👍😁🤠
Interesting impressions on both machines. Had to watch this video after seeing you on Digging Canuck’s livestream the other morning. I got the Equinox in July and have been loving it! Take care:)
I just ordered the Simplex and I am very excited. I also have a 800 but this is going to be a great second machine i think New to the channel keep up the good work
Thanks for watching - not an expert by any means but feel free to ping me if you have questions on the Simplex. Different machines for sure.
Thank you for your great introductions to both machines. Great Job
I hope the vibration is more stronger and more sensitive on the new noxes.and still work like the simplex flashing off when not over a target.and on when over a target.
I agree. Will be curious to see how this effects battery power. Nice upgrades.
Thank you for your service . Greatly appreciated !!!!!
Thanks Peter. It was an honor to serve.
Thanks for an interesting thought process... the question I should have asked on another of your videos is:
If you could only keep one, which would it be?
and why?
Thanks Bob...great suggestion. Will put this one in the que for the fall. (It will be pretty easy to answer.)
@@TheHistoryDigger1 Well I've bought both but it is likely to be few weeks before I can test and compare...
I have both with the ctx and whites TDI simplex is out with me the most
I am new to metal detecting .. so after joining a local metal detecting club facebook page and asking a few questions to get some advise and then doing a little research online..
It’s a great feature for water detecting for sure.
You did an excellent job going over the 2 detectors. I have the Equinox 600 and The Nokta Makro Simplex+ I like both detectors, the Equinox has an advantage on different types of metal because of the multi freq. Both machine for coin and relic hunting, depth wise are very close match.
Thanks for commenting and watching Ron!
I own the NOX800 & Simplex. I have to say your video is spot-on.
Thx for watching. It was well worth the upgrade.

Thank you so much for our parcel, a wonderful surprise, and the extras, fantastic. 🥰 Gavin says thank you, too. He was well chuffed. And stickys for Simplex will come in handy, just need to figure out what numbers are, they are never the same 🤨
Looking forward to your next video!! ❤
Thanks, so far so good with the carbon shaft. Tell Gavin I said McHi (That is my poor attempt at sounding scottish)
@@TheHistoryDigger1 Haha! Sounds like a Macdonalds hello. 😆 'Fit like?' is an Aberdonian greeting (Doric, a type of Scots). 'What's yer news?' is an Invernessian variant from the Gaelic 'De do bheachd?' 'Hiya' is most common of all 😁 Thought you'd like to know, as you like to learn new things. Stay well!
It’s $449 with the headphones at Ackerts in Norwich, ON. They do free shipping I believe , check them out.
Thanks for your honest review just wanna mention all-metal Non-ferrous reacted same but Muti iQ must help better reacting to find small targets and not foul by iron but I didn't really see that much improvements, again thanks and loves your channel
Greetings from England uk, great channel and nice video. Regards Simon and Adrian
Hi Simon and Adrian - thanks for watching and commenting. Am sub'd to you as well. Hoping to catch your LiveStream later today! Best regards and HH!
Enjoyed your video, have a deus, but need a more updated machine for my spare(b3 power max)awaiting money from treasure trove for a ring I found then will go ahead.thanks again.
Thanks for watching David! Good luck on that updated machine!
Nailed it Carl. Thanks for watching. Had the Nox out yesterday and wow... what a machine.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 If your looking for the deep coins it will find it especially in Field mode, using Iron Bias & Recovery Speed set low if ground conditions allow!
Thx for the tips!
On simplex I've had emi problems around high school bleachers even with the sensitivity turned way down.i had to switch to the nox.problem solved.A legend or a 7 or 900 nox.Would resolve these problems.
Yes, the Simplex can be tough with EMI.
Hi John.
Can you please elaborate on why you found the smaller coil to be better?
That is great PP. Glad it is working out for you!!
The rubber cap is just for dirt protection. It's still waterproof without the cap installed.
Thank you! I was unaware of that. Much appreciated!
Very well said Robert. Thx for watching and commenting.
so when its in vibration mode its like stealth and quite I take it no beeps, that would be handy when you dont want people to know your there, cool
That’s correct and you don’t need to wear headphones in that mode.
Thanks TA! Looking forward to when we can get out again! Be safe!
I WILL STICK WITH MY EQUINOX 800 GREAT VID
Is the nox twice the machine because the price is more than double that of the simplex ?
To me that’s a simple answer, “almost”! I got a 15% military discount so that helped. I do think it is a bit overpriced but it is a better, more customizable machine. Also until very recently Nokta did not offer different coils or carbon shafts.
Great info. I really enjoyed watching.
Thanks for watching DJ!
Have both machines, But the Nox just gives that extra push where you need it. So passed the Simplex to my son, and he's in 7th Heaven 😊😊
I just did the same thing Pat!
Awesome video. Thank You for your imput.
Thanks buddy!
Im wondering if anyone finds that the simplex is a much better at pinpointing than the nox,i get loads of targets on the sidewalls of the hole with the nox but the simplex targets are bang on in the hole ?
Maybe but to me the Nox pinpoint function is more accurate but I use the pull back method on both machines. Rarely use the pinpoint function.
So would you recommend the 600 equinox? I have the simplex, but head phones don’t really matter to me
Yes I would. I think it offers a ton. See if you can get a package they also includes the 6” coil too.
Congrats on your new Nox 👍 great video.
Thanks buddy....am hoping some of your excellent instruction starts to pay off w my Nox! :) That is if the ground ever thaws and I can get out and use it a bit more!
Good Luck bud 👍
So is the equinox 800 worth the extra 500.00 dollars in all honesty, or the 600 more reasonable with a couple less features
If I had to do it again I’d go with the 600. Is it worth the extra dollars vs the Simplex...in my opinion absolutely.
@@scrapiron6870 just a good ole price increase. they forecasted that - still was surprised they took an increase.
How is the latency on the Simplex headphones? Any issues with that? I know that normal bluetooth headphones on a Minelab machine are a problem. Thanks!
The simplex wireless headphones work great. I just bought a used Equinox 600 with off brand wireless headphones and they work just as well.
Getting a simplex tomorrow, couldn’t afford a nox anyway Nokta seems way out ahead for my English pounds lol

I love this!!! I know what I'm buying! Thank you for this video!
Simplex is good on non trashy areas but when it comes to detecting areas that's full of ring pulls, chopped cans, foil etc its as useless as a chocolate fire guard as it struggles to identify decent targets
i like my fisher f22 though wireless does sound good

Do you recommend nokta simplex plus for detecting big metal at a depth of 5 feet?
No not at all. That is well beyond it’s limits.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 thanks

The 15% veteran discount is offered by Minelabs via their authorized distributors. I bought mine from the Group Dealer on FB "Metal Detecting U.S. Only". His name is Robert Wyatt and his number is 770-560-8814.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 Ok. Thanks
I own both
Fun stuff, take care.
Thanks Gary!
I’ve also charged...waited a week before use and it was still full.
@@3tonesthetruth962
sounds good....ty
Well stated Tim. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Appreciate the feedback Kyle. Thanks for watching. New video coming soon!
Great video and review
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi, your talking apples and oranges. 254 dollars verses over 1000?
Not sure I understand your point David. They are clearly different machines both in terms of price but also in terms of performance. For me the upgrade (after the vet discount) was absolutely worth it but it certainly depends on the user but the Simplex was a great "second machine" for me (my first was a Bounty Hunter).
Where in WI ?
Hi Dave. I’m in Oconomowoc (between Madison and Milwaukee).
Great video,, New sub Minelab nox 800 solid machine.. Excellent review
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and commdenting - yes am still learning it but love the machine. My only gripe is that I wish they target ID scale was broader - up to 99.
The Equinox is than better of Simplex, more stable and more options in the menu, and more lightning.
Totally agree!
My Simplex+ has 5 modes
Why does yours have only 4?
This was filmed before the up day that added park 2.

Equinox 800 also does gold for Nuggetshooting, simplex does not.great video though I love my simplex too
Will be interesting to learn more about the upcoming Simplex upgrade. I wish they supported the MAC IOS.
I love your video. I own the Equinox. Please continue to promote the the cheap inferior detectors so I can continue to bring home top pocket finds from "hunted out sites".
Lol...made me laugh.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 That is a funny remark. 😂
Simplex is just not an inferior detector! Check Englands history channel for an unbiased Nox Vs Simplex shootout, you'll be surprised.
Be careful I was told using a aftermarket shaft on the Equinox will void your warranty!
I’ve heard that mentioned too but not sure it is true given it’s not the control unit. Risk worth taking though and also kept original shaft. Thx though.
I have both. Bought the Nox first.
Thanks for watching. A steeper learning curve on the Nox VDI Simplex for sure.
Thx. How do you think they compare?
@@TheHistoryDigger1 I think the Nox is amazing. I like the Simplex and the amount of features you get for the price is mind boggling. Just heard to beat multi IQ
How long to the batteries last? And what happens if they no longer can hold the charge?
They are lithium. They hold a charge for a good two days of detecting. I’ve yet to hear of any not taking a charge. Suppose you replace after a few years or buy a new detector for how inexpensive it is.
I have both detectors, the equinox is much better around iron and salt water. But the simplex is a great machine for the price.
Couldnt agree more Geoff. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Why wouldn't you buy a simplex. for only $250 you get a fully loaded machine that can hang with the big boy detectors !
I hear you Charles. They all finds stuff for sure. Right now I’m using the Deus ll. Performance is good but the ergonomics are great. Super light and portable. Thx for watching and commenting. HH!
If your equinox stop working you will be out for 10 weeks Equinox is good machine but service sucks only one reaper shop in US

You bet!
The Simplex tones are a huge annoyance to my ears. Like nails on a chalkboard. For that reason alone, I won't buy it regardless of performance.
