Just wanted to say I was going into labour on Tuesday. I was at home and my contractions stalled. I knew I needed to calm down and let my body do it’s thing. So I binged watched your DITL videos and gave birth in the bath at the hospital 2 hours later.
Yum! You go mama. :) I like to follow Weston A Price’s general guide. I’ve made some acorn squash / butter / cod liver oil / sweet potato mixes. Also loving some finally chopped local grass fed beef liver. Banana + avocado. Cooked peaches and different berries. Steamed Carrots and egg yolk with coconut oil or butter... it’s fun coming up with things!
I love that you left the peelings on! I never thought of that, but there’s so many nutrients in the peeling and it adds some texture. Thanks for the idea!!
Logan is so adorable and Nikki you’re rocking the first time mom status. Raw fruits can be hard on baby bellies. My nutritionist always told me to steam fruits first than purée. She also mentioned that you can use breast milk to thin out the purées instead of water . I made all of my daughters baby food and still cook for her 3 times a day lol.. when it came time to drink water, I sometimes put breast milk in a sippy cup. Great job, it’s been fun watching you find your groove being a mom..

awesome i have made my 8.5 month old baby food. i steamed apples, butternut squash, carrots. added hemp hearts and cannilne beans. i also got chicken livers from the farmers market ( good for iron since at 6 months babies dont get as much iron from breast milk and need more from external sources) . the liver is frozen and i grate it cook it and blended it with mashed potatoes.
How did he like all of the combinations? Had you guys already introduced the two allergens beforehand? My bub has tried peanut butter so far and loved it and I’m about to make homemade purées for him this was the best inspo before starting 💙

Purees are generally frowned upon during BLW in terms of teaching/ learning (along with pouches and other suck/swallow foods). But some people do a mix. I did 100% BLW, when people try to feed my son for him, he doesn't like it.

They are toxic to humans too! But I dare say they will just pass straight through the dogs. It’s chewing them that’s dangerous but you would need to eat a lot.

I would recommend getting silicon trays with a cover! That way you can properly store them in the freezer and not worry about freezer burn (:

Nuts are an allergen- how was he able to eat it before the 1 year mark?
