    My truck did this twice. Once with cylinder 7 and once with cylinder 2. Cylinder 2 we stuck a probe in and gave the connecting metal a little help and that has worked for the last 3 years. Then yesterday the same thing happened to cylinder 7 and so far the bendy treatment has worked for it as well.

    Recently had a similar problem with my 2005 LLY. After much current drop and continuity testing, found both positive battery cables were slightly loose. Tighten both cables and no problems since.

    Boy, talk about Jerry Rigged!
    Wow almost 300.00 for some foam with aluminium on it, and few brackets...
    Glad you went with your own repair. Nicely done.

    I thought limp mode was what happens to you if you don't pay a loan shark!! LOL The green crusties you don't see that a lot down there but up here in the rust belt we see them all the time. Great video

      Truck original came from the north. Had to do extensive rust repair on the from, cab, and brake lines. But, got it for a steal.

    My LLY is doing this, however it’s reading codes p0202, p0203, p0205, p0208, p2149. Would this even be related to harness 2 or 7? Or possibly the ficm? Wiring harness to ficm?

    You don’t have to match wires right?

  • @CampbellJ1

    im assuming it doesnt matter which order you crimp the wires since they are both white??

    Know this is a older vid but I’m having this issue, the wires are already pigtailed and it only happens when I touch the wire harness on top of egr pipe. I can’t for the life of me isolate the wires to find which one it keeps coming back with injector 2 and 7. There another way to isolate them?

    • @MrSubaru1387

      Did you check the harness near the alternator bracket?

      @@MrSubaru1387 yeah someone been in there before and taped the wires that do have a knick in them but not sure if that is causing it to go into limp mode if it has been taped off?

    Thanks! I don’t own a GM product, but I do have a 2009 Subaru outback with both front CV axle’s that need to be replaced. My mechanic wants to replace them with heavy duty ones, I do do some off-road Ing and go on logging roads in Maine, etc. Do you think these heavy duty ones will hold up better and last longer? There non-OEM, I don’t know the brand but he said they are of good quality!Thanks again!

    GM limp mode is unbelievably stupid & dangerous (yep, joining a highway with that kicking in is lethal!). I ended up with A GM limper on a 1.6l Vauxhall Zafira in the UK! One time, to clear limp mode on the highway, I just restarted the engine while driving (thanks to the wonders of stickshift).
    I'm never buying anything GMC ever. Why haven't they been sued over this? It must have caused tons of accidents.

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the Allison is way touchy to go into limp at the first sign of slippage.

    • @aaronschocke5463

      Say what you will about limp modes, but these trucks have served me well. I have had plenty of stress failures of all kinds in other trucks that could have made a repair a LOT cheaper if the system knew what was going on. Hate the break, not the limp. It's not your computer's fault something else broke down. A blown clutch taking your T-case and 5th gear with it sucks...

    been a mechanic for over 30 years . I NEVER use crimps on major connectors. would of taken u 5 minits more to solder and shrink wrap them properly. that's a junk yard fix not a pro.

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  4 роки тому +7

      😂 😂 😂 OK Mr expert. Guess in your 30 years you've never discovered solder seal crimp connectors.

      Eh, I don't feel comfortable cooking wires around that much movement. There is a lot of debate in the audio world surrounding this issue, but I would imagine that in the engine bay, movement might be more severe.
