I watch this over and over,It;s MAGIC!!!
Thank you
After watching every video of yours I can find, you still amaze me!
Thank you for your kind words
They weren’t nearly nice enough! I turn and have been for 4 years. I would love to be half as good as you are.
It is such an inspitation seeing you work. Thank you for sharing, it means a lot to me!
Thank you.
My new UA-cam channel spot me 🙏🙏
You make it look so easy Steve. I know it's not because when I have something to do on the lathe, I always try to have a go at using the skew. My results are pretty modest so far! I will keep trying. Thanks for showing us your techniques. Cheers/George
Thank you George
My new UA-cam channel spot me 🙏🙏
Always a pleasure to watch your toolmanship. Cheers, Jim
Thank you Jim
I'm always fascinated to watch your work. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you
You are a great inspiration. Watching work got me to use the skew better in my turnings
Thank you Carlos
Steve, I have been watching all your videos and
to watch you do this is truly amazing.
Thank you
watching them all, every time I see something else. Thanks for the videos.
Thank you
Хорошая работа !!!👍
Your work lets me know that I need lots of practice. Thanks for showing us the skills needed to be a pro. Great stuff.
Thank you Keith, yes lots of practice is the only way.
My new UA-cam channel spot me 🙏🙏

Awesome job! Steve! Thanks for sharing the video.😎👍JP
Thank you JP
You're very welcome Steve 😎
Simply brilliant Steve ... I'm going to have to invent some new words of praise me thinks! ;)
Great video mate.
Cheers
Mike
Thanks Mike, any comments are welcomed all I want is people to enjoy the video
I’m glad you slowed down the first part of the video, the second part was normal speed on a Friday afternoon lol. I’m sure your cutting balsa wood you make it look too easy, excellent as always, Pete
Lol! Thanks. Ps. Balsa is quite tricky to turn.
I think this is the first time I see you in time laps😊
Júlíus
Yes first time on UA-cam. Don’t worry I don’t intend to do it often. I hadn’t saved the leg in real speed.
AWESOME AS ALWAYS
Thank you
Very nice work, Sir. I wish I had more time to work at the lathe. I retired once about eight years ago, but I am still working. Cann't quite figure that out....! I guess operating heavy equipment is a never ending job. Thank you for you videos...!
Thank you Terry, it’s a shame you have little time but I understand as I can never see me retiring.
Wow!! So talented!!! Incredible
Thank you
I really enjoy watching your videos. Your skew skills are comparable to Alan Lacer and the late Allan Batty. Impressive!!! Keep up the great work and I appreciate your video shares. Best wishes!!!!
Thank you Todd
So nice. I have been afraid to purchase a skew, but it looks like one must take the plunge.
Thank you Bill, yes if doing spindle work it is the best tool in the box.
Thank you
Very cool,
Thank you Daniel
thanks steve
Cheers
awesome
Thank you
Your mastery and concentration are very, very high
It's really impossible!!
Is it possible to work with hard wood in this way?
Yes you can turn hardwood like this. The very hard exotic woods can be turned the same way but you have to take a couple of cuts where you only need one with softwood

Goofy question: How long is your skew handle? On my Sorby oval skew, I like the long handle when I'm doing planing cuts because I put the handle on my hip, but when I'm shaping, like rolling a bead (also known as making screw backs), the long handle is in my way and I need to be in an awkward position to see my shape. I'm thinking of cutting down the handle and wonder which length you choose? I think I could just stabilize my arm on my hip for planing and don't really need a long handle. It's not like a bowl gouge...
I use a long handle all the time, my methods are slightly different to most and rely on body movements a lot.
Needs Benny Hill music for the bonus leg bit...
Lol yes, slightly speeded up is unusual for me. Great idea.
😊😀😀 beaded leg was speeded up but not by much.
No not much, thanks Billy
👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧....
Thank you

Hey Steve! Awesome work again. What gouge did you use? I have a basic 8 piece kit that works fine but something like that would be great. Also, could you link your tools in the description of one of you videos? That would be great too. Anyway, great video.
Hi Berta, Thank you, the spindle gouge is a crown 1/2" spindle gouge, the roughing gouge on the leg is a 1 1/4" Sorby, the Skew is an Ashley Iles 1" flat. I will try to remeber to put a link in future.
woodturner21 Thanks!
